Hope you're well guys! It has been brought to my attention that there are a few chapters of this one-shot collection. I am sad to say I have no idea where they have gone and I have not even got the missing ones in my files on my computer.

I did find this one though!

Hope you're all well!

Remi watched the city below from the apartment window. The bright lights of the buildings and cars blurred by the heavy rain that beat against the glass of the balcony window. The room was shrouded in darkness, the only light being the dim glow from the kitchen, illuminating the living room in a soft white shine.

She hadn't seen Roman in over a week now. She knew it was only a hallucination...a delusion. A symptom of the chemical poisoning that was slowly but surely making its way to her brain stem. Her neurons firing all at once and causing her brain to process something that's not really there.

But she still felt lonely.

Isolated.

Even if she had finally gotten Shepard out of that black site.

She heard a key turn in the door, the click of the lock disengaging, and the shuffle of heavy boots behind her. She grit her teeth. Weller always shuffled his feet. It infuriated her. The lights to the living room turned on, causing Remi to filth away from the sudden brightness. Weller dimmed the lights ever so slightly.

"What are you doing sitting in the dark?"

Remi closed her fingers tightly around the knife she was holding, concealing it in the opening of her jacket.

"Light was hurting my eyes." She answered coldly, she was too tired to put on her 'Jane' voice. She ran her thumb up and down the handle of the knife, the hard cool metal feeling good against her fingertips. She watched the reflection in the window as Weller approached. A smile on his face. The top buttons of his shirt were slightly open.

"Well, I have a surprise for you." He said, falling onto the couch next to Remi and draping his arm around on the chair back behind her. Her hand tightened once again around the handle of the knife. Now was the time. It would be so easy. One, quick movement and Kurt Weller would be no more. She had sharpened the knife this morning...the blade would slide into his chest and pierce his heart before he even knew what was happening. She would finally get to watch the life drain from this man's eyes. He leaned closer.

"What a coincidence...I have a surprise for you too." She smiled. Turning her body to get into a better position. She gripped the handle of the knife and tensed her bicep, her heart beating fast in her chest.

"God, I hate the weather in New york. It's like an endless winter"

A sweet voice sounded from the doorway, startled, Remi turned towards it. Shocked to see a young woman sauntering into the kitchen and pouring herself a glass of water. Tearing her eyes away from the young girl, Remi turned to stare at Kurt. Who grinned ear to ear, pushing himself up from the couch and moving towards her, his arms wrapping tightly around her shoulders and pulling her close.

"Avery is down for a class trip at the United Nations, so we thought it would be nice to surprise you. She is only here for dinner before she has to go back and finalise a class project."

The girl named Avery smiled widely. There was something very familiar about her. Something that made Remi feel warm. Her grip on the knife loosened as she got to her feet, her eyes never leaving the young girl's face.

"I got vegan burgers!" She said excitedly, holding up a brown bag with a large smile. "Oh, and I got my fries with chili and cheese!"She said, placing the bag on the table and beginning to remove the containers. "I know what your gonna say, what's the point of getting a vegan burger if you're just gonna eat meat and cheese anyway...what can I say... I'm strange." Avery shrugged, picking up the wine bottle and getting a glass.

"Must be genetic or something." She said cheekily, smirking as she looked at Remi. In an instant, Remi knew who this girl was. Her heart seemed to have stopped beating for a second as she watched her daughter and Weller chuckle. Their eyes cast down on preparing the food. Slowly, Remi placed the knife on the living room table and made her way towards the kitchen. She rounded the corner until she was at arm's length of her daughter. Avery turned to her, a sadder smile on her face this time.

"How are you feeling. Kurt told me you've been sick?"

Remi said nothing, just stared. Overwhelmed with emotions she didn't know she could feel. Her hands shook as she reached out a hand towards Avery, who took it without hesitation.

"Are you okay Jane?" She said, sounding worried. Remi blinked at the sound of the name, took a deep breath, and pulled Avery into a crushing hug.

"I just missed you...that's all."

"I've only been gone for three months" She chuckled but hugged back just as hard. Remi bit back a sob, clearing her throat but still not letting go of her daughter.

"Feels like longer."

As they sat down, Remi listened intently as Avery spoke. About her first week at college, her classes, her dorm mates, and a boy she liked. She felt pride well inside of her as her daughter mentioned the languages she was studying and the languages she already spoke. Kurt took his wife's hand in his own and turned to look at her.

"Just like your Mother." He said, his mouth still full. "How many languages do you speak anyway," Kurt asked, Remi untangled her hand from his and picked up her empty plate, moving to the sink.

"13."

Avery almost spat out her wine.

"13!" She said, Remi smirked and shrugged her shoulders, turning to her daughter and leaning against the sink.

"I'm well-traveled," She said simply, distracted by the ding of her daughters phone. Avery looked down at the text she had just received and sighed.

"That's my cue to leave." She said, getting up from the table and slinging her bag over her shoulder. ""I need to help the group finish the project...maybe next time you can come visit me?" She questioned, turning to her mother. Remi nodded with a sad smile. She didn't want to see her daughter leave already.

"I will." She said and Avery began to leave.

"You just gonna leave your plate there? Clean up your mess." Remi said sternly, Avery sighed and grabbed her plate from the table, placing it in the sink.

"If you think that's messy you should see my dorm." She mocked, hugging her mother goodbye. Remi hugged back tightly.

Remi watched her daughter leave with a heavy heart. As Kurt wrapped an arm around his wife.

"Well, now that we have the house to ourselves again...how about you join me in the shower?" Kurt whispered into her ear, Remi shuddered at his touch and pulled away from him.

"Not tonight Kurt, I have a migraine." She said,"In fact, I am going to go for a walk." She didn't look at him as she grabbed her coat.

Kurt watched her leave without another word, jumping slightly as she slammed the door behind her. He sighed and rubbed his face, waiting five minutes before grabbing his coat and following her.

He was going to find out where she went on her 'walks' once and for all.
