Disclaimer I don't own the yugioh anime.

Chapter 6:

Yugi stared at Kenta. What was the man doing here? In this town, in his house. It wasn't like he'd let everyone in the world know where he moved to. He was sure none of his friends would allow it to get back to Kenta. Not even Marik and Bakura were that cruel. It was them who saved him in the first place.

"What are you doing here?" Yugi demanded his voice coming out far more confident than he felt.

"What I can't visit?" Kenta asked seemingly innocent.

"No." Yugi said. "How did you find out where I live?"

Kenta pushed past him as he stepped into the living room. He examined it as if judging it. That made Yugi's skin prickle. He'd worked too damn hard for this bastard to just walk in and judge his home.

"I have my ways." Kenta said as he walked over to the small shrine Yugi had built for his mother. "Cute." He muttered.

"Well thank you for stopping by but if you'd excuse me I have to go to bed. I have work in the morn-" Yugi started.

"No you don't." Kenta looked at him a dark look in those eyes. "I know for a fact you do not."

Yugi narrowed his eyes at Kenta. "How do you know?"

"Because I know all about you and your cute little life here Yugi. I know you have a restaurant and friends here." Kenta moved to him and put a hand on Yugi's face. Yugi immediately felt his skin crawl. He hated Kenta touching him. It made him feel as dirty as he did when he was younger.

"Get out." Yugi slapped his hand away. "You are not welcome here."

"You feisty little kitten." Kenta laughed. It held no humor to it though. It was a deep and dark laugh.

Yugi glared at him. "Don't ever call me kitten again." He growled.

"Oh but you are my kitten. You are very much my little kitten." Kenta smirked.

"No I was never your kitten. You don't have a right to call me that." Yugi growled.

Kenta stepped closer officially removing any personal space Yugi had before. "You will always be my kitten." He snarled. "That won't change."

Yugi opened his mouth to say something but a knock on his door interrupted it. He tensed. Had Kenta brought his friends with him? The thought of those friends being in his house scared the shit out of him.

"Go on. Answer it. I'll be here waiting." Kenta said smirking.

Yugi slowly moved backwards. He kept his eyes on Kenta as he walked to the door and opened it. He looked to find Atem standing there.

"Hey I hate to bother you but-" Atem started. He was cut off when Yugi grabbed his wrist and pulled him inside.

"Thank gods you're here." Yugi said.

"Um you ok?" Atem asked. "You never want me-" Atem's words were silenced by Yugi's hand over his mouth.

"Just shut up and follow my lead. Go it?" Yugi said. Atem stared him in the eyes for a moment before nodding.

Yugi took his hand and took him into the living room. "I do apologize Kenta but my boyfriend stopped by."

"Boyfriend?" Kenta asked standing from where he had apparently gotten comfortable on the couch.

"Of course. Atem this is Kenta, Kenta this is Atem Kodai." Yugi said purposely adding Atem's last name. It was the only time he'd been thankful to know a high ranking Alpha.

"Kodai." Kenta growled slightly. "I see."

"It is a pleasure to meet you. I just came to spend the night with my dear Yugi here." Atem smirked putting an arm around Yugi's shoulders. Yugi resisted the shiver that wanted to crawl up his spine. He knew Atem was taking this to his advantage but if he showed any reaction other than loving Kenta would catch on.

"I see." Kenta said. "Well I apologize for being here while you are. I just had to see my little kitten while I was in town."

Yugi's jaw clenched. Great this was not something Atem needed to hear. He felt Atem's arm tense up.

"Your little kitten?" Atem demanded.

"Ah sorry. Yugi and I were together for a while and that was what I referred him as. I guess old habits die hard." Kenta said. "Well I'll see you both around then. I'm staying in town for a little while longer. I do hope we can get to know each other. Yugi I would love for us to catch up." He smirked. "Good night. I'll see myself out."

Yugi heard the door close behind Kenta a few moments later. He instantly pulled away from Atem and let the shiver he was holding back roll through him.

"Don't ever put your arm around me like that again." Yugi warned him.

"Who was that?" Atem demanded.

"Just someone from my past." Yugi muttered moving away from Atem to sit on the couch.

"Oh no you are not brushing me off on this subject. He said you two were a thing. You hate Alphas and his entire being screams Alpha." Atem said.

Yugi gulped. "I just don't know how he found me." He muttered staring at the floor.

"Yugi!" Atem growled. Yugi's eyes popped up at him. "What the hell is going on?"

Yugi sighed. "Kenta and I were a thing. Not long before you came around he and I were together. He used me. Got me into a ton of things I didn't want to be a part of."

"Things like what?" Atem asked.

Yugi looked away staying silent.

"Yugi." Atem said a bit more softly. "Talk to me."

"He used me to pay off some of his dept." Yugi said reluctantly.

"Used you how?" Atem asked sitting across from him.

"How do you think?" Yugi snapped. "He fucking sold me."

Atem's face went white as a ghost before it turned a deep shade of red. "That son of a bitch." He stood. Atem began to make his way to the door.

"What? Where are you going!?" Yugi jumped up and ran after him.

"To beat the shit out of that scumbag!" Atem growled.

"No!" he grabbed Atem's arm. "You don't want to get on his bad side!"

"The hell I don't. He fucking sold you!" Atem growled.

"And that's in the past." Yugi said holding him from the door.

"Yet here he stood in your living room." Atem said looking at him.

"That's what I don't understand. He shouldn't have been. He shouldn't have been able to find me." Yugi said confused. "I..I haven't told anyone besides my friends where I live and work. Not even Bakura would tell him. Bakura wanted to kill him when he first found out about Kenta's….business."

"Alright that settles it." Atem said.

"What?" Yugi looked at him.

"I'm staying here with you." Atem said kicking off his shoes.

"What? No! Absolutely not!" Yugi said as Atem moved back into the living room.

"He could be watching your house waiting for me to leave. For all we know he could have seen through that lie. I am not chancing him coming in after I leave." Atem said sitting on the couch.

"Why are you here anyways?" Yugi asked.

"I was wondering if I could use your phone to call my office. Mine was smashed." Atem said.

"Smashed how?" Yugi asked.

"I got into a fight." Atem shrugged.

"Fight? Since when do you fight?" Yugi asked in disbelief.

Atem shrugged again. "It doesn't happen very often."

"Ok well sure you can use my phone but there is no way you're staying here." Yugi said.

Atem stood and moved so he was face to face with Yugi. "Do you have a security system?"

"No." Yugi muttered.

"A gun or defensive weapon?" Atem asked

"No, of course not!" Yugi said.

"Then you are basically defenseless here by yourself. I'm staying." Atem said.

Yugi opened his mouth to argue but just closed it again. He hated to admit it but Atem was right. He had no way of defending himself if Kenta forced his way into the house. Groaning he ran a hand through his hair. "Fine. But you're sleeping on the damn couch." He growled

"Gladly. It gives me a good view of the front door." Atem said.

"Whatever. I'll get you a pillow and Blanket." Yugi muttered and left the living room. He went to the hall closet and started pulling out an extra pillow and blanket. This was going to be a long night. There was no way in hell he'd get any sleep with Atem being here.

Sighing he held the pillow against his chest. On the other hand it was nice Atem wanted to make sure he was safe. Nice to have the security Atem added. Perhaps he'd be ok with Atem being in the house. He shook his head. No what was he thinking? He wasn't ok with it. Of course he wasn't! He had an overwhelming and overbearing Alpha staying in his house tonight. He needed to get a security system tomorrow.

Yugi closed the closet door and went back out to the living room. "Ok here you go." He handed Atem the sleeping supplies. "Goodnight." He started to head to the stairs.

"Yugi." Atem said.

Yugi froze but didn't turn to him. "Yes?"

"I don't think any less of you." Atem said.

Yugi closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath before turning to him. "Thanks but I couldn't care less what you thought."

Atem nodded silently. Yugi took that as his signal he was free to go to bed. He walked into his bedroom and quietly shut the door. He leaned his forehead against it and sighed. Aten didn't think any less of him. Why had his chest felt lighter when Atem said that? He didn't care what Atem thought. He didn't care what anyone thought. That wasn't changing.

He went to his bathroom attached to his bedroom and stripped down. He needed a shower. Steam filled the room as Yugi turned on the hot water and stepped into it. Something didn't feel right about Kenta being in his house tonight. Sure he had a past from Kenta but this was something else. Something…darker.

It wasn't as if he had anymore debt. Yugi's body took care of that. He placed his hand over a large scar on his chest. And then some. He thought to himself. Rubbing the scar his eyes went glossy. The memory was still fresh in his mind too. As if it was yesterday so to speak.

"Yugi?" Atem's voice called him out of his head. He blinked and realized the water had gone cold. He hut it off and wrapped himself in a towel before getting out of the shower. Taking a deep breath he opened the door.

"Yes?" Yugi asked.

"You ok? I didn't want to bother you but you've been in the shower for about an hour." Atem said.

"Oh yeah I'm fine. I was just getting out when you knocked." Yugi said.

"I didn't knock." Atem said. "Are you sure you're ok?"

"Yes I'm fine." Yugi said walking past him. He kept his towel wrapped tight around his waist. Yugi walked past his full length mirror. He glanced at himself for a second before going to his dresser. "If you don't mind I'd like to get dressed for bed."

Atem studied him for a moment before nodding. "Sleep well."

"You too." Yugi muttered before closing his bedroom door behind Atem. He sighed and got dressed. That was too close. The last thing he needed was Atem knowing any deep details about Yugi's past. The pity would radiate off of Atem.

Yugi climbed into bed once dressed and set his alarm. He tried to get up every morning at 4 as to keep his body used to it for work days. He listened to downstairs. No sounds came to his ears. That wasn't surprising though, he was sure Atem was laying down and watching the door.

He imagined Atem laying there under the blanket. Does Atem sleep in his boxers? The image of Atem's body mostly naked under the blanket cut into his mind. A deep blush his face like a brick wall. He needed to stop these thoughts. They were going to be the death of him. Especially when Kenta was out there.

Letting his eyes droop he started to fall asleep. The last thing he thought of was Kenta standing in front of him inches away.

Yugi screamed as he struggled against the hands holding him down. Pain seared through his body. It hurt. It hurt so much. Gods he wanted to get away. He wished Kenta would just let him go.

All he saw was blood. So much blood.

"You deserve this Yugi. You are dirty." Kenta said as he laughed.

"Stop. Stop please." Yugi begged.

"You deserve it." Kenta repeated.

Yugi struggled and fought. He kicked as hard as he could.

"Yugi. Yugi wake up!" Atem's voice cut through the dream. Yugi opened his eyes to find Atem standing over him and shaking his shoulders. "Oh thanks gods you woke up." He sighed in relief.

"W-what.." Yugi shakily sat up and looked at the clock. It was 3:42am.

"You were screaming in your sleep." Atem said. "I came up once I woke to it."

"I..I…" he gulped and ran a shaky hand through his hair. "I'm sorry I woke you up."

"I'm not worried about it. Want to talk about it?" Atem asked.

Yugi shook his head. "I-I'm fine."

"No you aren't. Yugi you were screaming bloody murder." Atem said.

Yugi gave a humorless snort. "It nearly was." He muttered.

"Yugi." Atem said softly. He put a hand on Yugi's arm but Yugi flinched away. Atem felt his heart ache for the man. Yugi clearly had a horrible experience with this Kenta but is trying to get past it himself. "Yugi you can't do this alone."

"I have been till now. It won't change." Yugi said. He started to get out of bed and stood. His legs wobbled. They felt like putty. Stepping forward he suddenly saw the floor coming up towards him.

"Whoa no." Atem caught him. "Sit." Atem sat him back on the bed.

weeweeeYugi pulled away. "I'm ok. I am. It always happens when I dream of them."

"Them?" Atem asked.

"Kenta and his friends." Yugi muttered.

"Yugi." Atem said softly. "What did they do to you?"

"I don't want to talk about it." Yugi said. "Just leave it." He took some deep breaths before standing. "I'm gonna go make some coffee." He shut off his alarm. No point in trying to sleep now.

Yugi listened to Atem's steps follow him into the kitchen. This was not something he wanted to deal with at 4 in the damn morning. Atem needed to back off. He had no idea what Kenta was capable of. The only reason Yugi got away was because Bakura made sure of it.

"Are you hungry?" Yugi asked.

"Just coffee would be nice." Atem said.

"You don't eat?" Yugi asked looking at him.

"I do but I'm on the move so much that I don't really cook much." Atem said.

"Oh well I can make you breakfast." Yugi said quietly. "If you'd like me to. I guess."

"You don't need to. I'm fine." He said.

"I'm making it for myself anyways." Yugi shrugged. "No big deal."

"Well if you're ok with it." Atem said. "You know I can cook. I just don't."

"I never said you couldn't." Yugi said as he pulled ingredients from the fridge. "So why do you travel so much?" He got out a frying pan and put butter into it. He turned on the burner and let the butter melt slowly.

"Work mostly." Atem said. "Building new branches of my company."

"That's cool." Yugi got some eggs ready to make an omelet.

"It's a lot of work." Atem said. "But it's worth the work."

"So you'll be running every building?" Yugi asked. "That's gonna be tough."

"I'll have COO's running each branch but they will be consulting me before anything." Atem said.

"I see." Yugi muttered. He'd been thinking of opening a new restaurant once his first one got more stable. "So what do you do when it comes to opening a new branch. Just wondering."

"The main goal is to see if the area you're looking at will be a good fit for it. If it won't get business no point in opening. It'll just waste more money." Atem explained. "I tend to invest in areas that need up and coming companies though. It brings jobs and income to neighborhoods that need it."

Yugi nodded. He went silent, thinking to himself for a while. He'd wait to open another restaurant. His sous chef was thinking about moving so his main focus right now was finding a new one. But he had such high standards it was hard to find one he liked.

"You really made a life for yourself." Atem stated pulling Yugi out of his thoughts. "I wished we'd left things on better standings though."

"It doesn't matter." Yugi said.

"It does. Yugi you really are amazing. I never wanted you to doubt that for a second." Atem said standing up. He moved to Yugi and stood next to him. Putting a hand to Yugi's chin he gently pulled it so Yugi had to look at him. "I'm sorry for what happened."

Yugi studied him. "This…can't happen."

"Why not? Why can't you let someone in?" Atem asked.

"Kenta-" Yugi started

"I am not him." Atem said. He leaned down.

"But I don't know you." Yugi said his stomach twisting.

"Then let's get to know each other." Atem leaned closer and was about to kiss him when Yugi's front door flew open. They both jumped back as Syren ran in.

"Yugi I-" Syren stopped when they saw them.

Yugi looked at them. "Syren."

"Sorry didn't know you had company." Syren said.

"It's ok. Atem this is Syren a friend of mine." Yugi said

"Hello." Syren waved. "Yugi I hate to bother you so early but I need to talk to you. It's about Charli."

"Oh ok. Atem mind watching the omelet?" Yugi asked.

"Uh sure." Atem said though his face was clearly full of nerves.

"It's easy just keep a close eye on it." Yugi said before going into the living room with Syren. "Ok so what's up with Charli?"

"She got fired." Syren said.

"What? Why?" Yugi asked.

"Who knows with her boss. He's such an ass." Syren said. "But she was doing so great."

"Who is her boss?" Yugi asked.

"Some guy named Seto Kaiba." Syren said.

Yugi groaned. Of course it was Seto. That explained the ass comment from Syren. Seto had ridiculous standards. But Charli was great at her job.

"Ok um I understand the aggravation but why are you coming to me?" Yugi asked.

"I know you need an accountant and I was wondering…" they trailed off but Yugi exactly where they were going with it.

"No." Yugi said sternly.

"Oh come on Yugi! She needs it." Syren said.

"Yes but you don't mix work and friends." Yugi said. "Everyone knows that."

"Please Yugi she really needs this and she's really good at her job. You know that." Syren begged.

"Syren." Yugi sighed. "I understand your sister is at what she does but it's a bad idea to do this."

"Please. I swear you won't regret it." Syren insisted

Yugi sighed. "Fine. Have her there for an interview in two days." Yugi said.

"Thank you! You won't regret it!" Syren said hugging him. Yugi tensed up and Syren instantly let go. "Sorry I forgot."

"Yeah yeah now get out. I'm hungry." He sniffed the air and smelled something burning. "And guessing from that smell I'll have to make more food."

"Thanks again. Bye!" Syren left.

Yugi shook his head as he walked back into the kitchen to find Atem struggling to flip the omelet. Yugi sighed and went over.

"Honestly." Yugi groaned.

"I um sorry." Atem muttered.

"You can't cook." Yugi said. "Get away from my stove." He shoved him aside and tossed out the burnt omelet.

"Sorry. I thought you said it would be easy." Atem said.

"I was flipping omelets before I was 5." Yugi said. He went silent as memories of him cooking in the kitchen with his mother came to mind. Gods he missed her. She was why he went into cooking.

"Did you grow up cooking?" Atem asked.

Yugi nodded. "My mother taught me everything I know." Yugi said. "She was a master of the kitchen."

"That's amazing. Its good she passed it down to you." Atem said.

"Thank you. She was really something." Yugi said absently.

"Ok Yugi now bend your fingers slightly and make so your knuckles are against the blade. This guids your blade and keeps the tips of your fingers safe." His mother instructed.

"Yes mama." Yugi said smiling. He did exactly as told. He smiled as he chopped the onion.

"That's it perfect." She smiled. "You're a natural."

"Thank you mama." Yugi said. He smiled up at her when he finish chopping the onion. "I did it."

"Very good. Now we're gonna put in the pan gently ok. It's heated up with the oil and we don't want it burning us." She said.

Yugi nodded and gently put the onion into the pan. It made a soft sizzling sound that made Yugi smile every time. He thought it was a funny sound.

Yugi listened to the sizzle of the pan in front if him and smiled softly. 'I love you mama.' He thought.

Yugi sat at the table with Atem eating. "Um I uh thanks for staying the night."

"Of course. Your couch is quite comfortable." Atem said.

"Well I'll be getting a security system today." Yugi said.

"I can stay and help you set it up." Atem said.

"You don't have to." Yugi said. The less time around Atem the better.

"It's ok. I have nothing else to do." Atem said.

Yugi groaned mentally, of course Atem had nothing else to do. The man owned a massive company. He had all the money and time in the world. Yugi debated telling Atem no but then realized he knew nothing about security systems. Sure he had one on his restaurant but he had that installed by a professional before it even had its opening day.

"OK." Yugi said. He picked up his plate and set it in the sink. "Well the sooner the better."

Yugi and Atem walked to the local tech store. The smaller man kept his hands in his pockets and at least 2 feet between them. He didn't need to be closer to the man. He didn't need to let himself get closer.

"You know I'm not some evil being." Atem said. "There's no need to keep that much distance between us."

Yugi gulped. "I never said you were one." Yugi said.

"No you just act like it. Look I don't know what Kenta did to you but I am not him." Atem said. "I would never hurt you."

"That's what he said too." Yugi muttered.

Atem sighed. "Well hopefully you'll let me prove it."

Yugi stayed silent. He looked to the store and went in. Looking at the section of security system's and went to it. Atem explained the best ones for household security and eventually they picked one out. As Yugi paid for it he heard the door to the store open.

"Ah Yugi. I didn't expect to see you here." Kenta's voice came.

Yugi tensed and turned to him. There was no way Kenta's shock was genuine. He had to be lying.

"Kenta." Yugi muttered.

"Kenta." Atem growled from beside Yugi. Yugi glanced up to find Atem glaring at Kenta. Kenta however didn't seem to be fazed by it. He just smiled smugly.

"Good to see you again." Kenta said with a cold kindness.

"Hm." Atem hummed darkly.

"Atem we should go." Yugi said taking the bag with the security system from the clerk. He nodded to the clerk politely before they left.

Back at Yugi's house Yugi sighed and finally relaxed. He sat down on the couch. Atem sat next to him and took his hand. Yugi flinched slightly.

"Yugi it'll be ok. We'll install the system. And if you'd like I can have it linked to my phone as well as yours. That way if you need me I can come right out." Atem said.

"Atem thanks for your help but still." He muttered. "I don't need it."

"I disagree. From your reactions to the man Kenta is not something to take lightly." Atem said. "Let me help you."

Yugi wanted to say no. Wanted to get away from him as fast as possible. Alphas were nothing but trouble. That was always his thought, but Atem had him questioning himself. Atem had him wanting to get close to someone. Close to him. This was something he didn't know what to do. But at the same time he couldn't chance Kenta getting to him. He couldn't go through that again.

"OK." Yugi said.

"Good." Atem said. He stood and looked over the system they got.

Yugi sat there watching Atem figure out the best places to install different parts to it. He'd never admit it to anyone but he was secretly glad to have Atem around. Glad to have someone he could look to for help. But once this whole thing with Kenta was over he would go back to his normal life. Without Atem.

Ok guys I'm sorry it took so long but here it is. Hope you enjoyed Chapter 6 I really am trying to get back into writing but it's hard with everything going on. Please bare with me.
