We all have those moments, moments of helplessness, moments of sadness, moments when you can't get out of what's to come. All that and more came from Chat Noir but, it wasn't just a moment, it was a day, a month, a year. It went on for more than a moment.
It's been a long road up to this point. There have been many moments when Chat tried to give up. Give up hope for everything. But he knew he couldn't. As much as he tries to think that it isn't true, Ladybug still needs him.
It wasn't just some game he was playing anymore. The puns, the flirts, the trying. No, now it's just pain and disappointment. The pain of rejection and the disappointment in himself.
"Hey Chat." Chat heard Ladybug land behind him. She put her yo-yo around her waist and looked at him. "You ok?"
Chat turned around. "Of course, why wouldn't I be?"
"I don't know. You've just been so down lately. It feels different being around you now. Like, something changed." LB said.
"You're wrong, nothing has changed with me." Chat lied. Everything changed with him after LB became guardian. It seemed like he was lonelier now, more left out.
"You sure?"
"Yeah." Chat smiled in reassurance. LB did a weak smile.
"Ok kitty. Ready for patrol?" Chat nodded and they did their rounds of patrolling. At that moment, when they finished, Chat really needed someone to talk to but he couldn't go to Ladybug. He wanted to talk to someone closer to him. In all honesty, he's second guessing how much LB trusted him.
"Well, this city seems safe. I guess this is where we part." Ladybug said. She turned to look at Chat.
"Yeah well, it's also getting late and I'm pretty tired anyway. See you tomorrow." Chat said, catapulting himself with his stick. Ladybug went the other way. Chat was taking the short way to Mari's house. When he got there, he was surprised by what he saw next. Chat saw Ladybug land behind Marinett's chimney and a pink light emerged from behind it and then faded. Marinette climbed onto her balcony from where Ladybug landed. "What?" Chat gasped. "Ladybug is Marinette." He didn't know what to do next. He just stood there like an idiot for the next several minutes before he decided to go home.
The next few days went by, ignoring Marinette and growing distant with Ladybug. Chat didn't want to but he was dealing with a lot.
"Hey Chat, we need to talk." Ladybug caught him on a roof as he was patrolling, alone.
"What do you want to talk about Ladybug?" Chat asked, hiding something in his voice.
"You've been growing distant and I want to know why." Chat didn't answer. Ladybug started to walk towards him and put a hand on his shoulder. "We're a team, remember. We need to be working together and not grow distant with each other." Ladybug reminded him.
"I'm sorry Marinette but," Chat paused. Ladybug did a slight gasp before Chat continued. "I can't do this anymore." Chat lept away. He was a ways away before he heard Ladybug's yo-yo. He turned to see LB following him.
"Chat! Where are you going?" Chat knew he had to stop but all he wanted to do was keep on going. He then felt something tie him up and that's when he noticed Ladybug's yo-yo wrapped around him. "Shit." He mumbled before falling on the roof below him.
"Ok, now that I've stopped you, I have a few questions. One, how do you know who I am?" Ladybug asked, landing in front him.
Chat knew that there was no stopping her from learning the truth. Chat sighed, "I wanted to talk to you, Marinette you, and then I caught you detransforming." Chat said.
"Oh my god." LB groaned. "I knew I should've been more careful." She said, pushing her hands through her blue hair. (Note: Ladybug keeps her hair down) "Ok, so why were you distancing yourself from me?"
"I don't know. I guess I thought it would be easier for me to be around you if I distance myself from you. It's hard knowing your best friend is risking their life for your city, and the world. A friend that you realized was more than a friend." Chat explained. Ladybug knelt down beside him and started to untie him.
"I'm still going to save the city. It's my job." LB paused and looked at Chat. "It's your choice to help me or not, and I prefer you help me cause I don't want another Chat Noir." LB got her yo-yo back and held a hand out for Chat to grab. Chat gladly accepted it and Ladybug pulled him up.
"I like being Chat Noir. It gives me freedom." Chat looked out at the city. "And how else will I get to see the sunset from a perfect view?" The two looked at the sunset. "Hey, since I know who you are, do you want to know who I am?"
Ladybug hesitated. "I mean, I could but, I don't know if I'm ready. I'm used to the secret keeping thing."
Chat shrugged. "If you ever want to know, say the words and I'll show you." When Chat got home, he flopped himself on his bed. "Claws in." He mumbled.
"Something wrong kid?" Plagg asked, getting cheese from his cabinet.
Adrien sat up. "I don't know. It just seems different between us now. Now that she's the guardian and I'm, I'm just, I'm just a partner."
"You know she thinks of you as more than a partner." Plagg said, swallowing a piece of cheese whole.
"Yeah, I guess." Adrien looked out the window. He saw Ladybug looking in but then she left. Adrien sighed and decided it was time to get ready for bed.
A/N: This is my first fan fic since coming back from writers block so I hope it's good. I post chapters after I finish them so that could be a few days, a few weeks so if you really liked the first chapter and you want more than your patients might be tested.
Anyway,
bug out
