Title: Guardian

Lord Voldemort was annoyed despite his recent successes. The Ministry was firmly under control and the elimination of the muggle-born from wizarding society was proceeding. Hogwarts was under his sway thanks to Snape and the Carrows. The Longbottom heir still remained an annoyance with his cadre of reactionaries. The capture of Augusta Longbottom, the little twerp's grandmother, should have resolved that issue. What on earth had inspired Thickness to send Dawlish of all people to bring her in? To all accounts the man had severely underestimated the Dowager Longbottom and ended up in St. Mungo's. To make matters even worse the backup squad he'd sent to search Longbottom Manor for clues of her whereabouts hadn't even been able to get inside. The excuse the leader, who was now groaning weakly on the floor in front of him, had given was that the manor was guarded by a goose. This goose allegedly had killed one and chased the others halfway back to Malfoy Manor. A magical guardian perhaps? No, the Longbottom family totem was a bear. He had just decided that further investigation was necessary and was debating who to send when sounds of a commotion echoed through the house.
*Honk*
Author's Note: It looks like the goose has awakened my muse from her recent tendency to hibernate. WordSmyth made a comment on a previous installment about the goose taking on Voldemort and the next thing I knew this happened.
