Hello everyione! First of...YES I'M ALIVE and I'm sorry, so sorry for the delay!

The thing is, as I said, I'm in the middle of my studies for the upcoming exams and I'm a law student which means I have a truckloads of shit to study.

Everytime I would try to write something, I just ended up shitting on the table since I was too tired and worn out to write something decent, even what you're about to read is the result of multiple scrapping and redo, agin an other chapter I was unsure to post but...At this point, I just decided to give you this last one and try to make it up to the next one, I promise.

My exams are coming next week so the next chapter might take some time, I apologize in advance but I'm telling you here and now: no, I'm not dropping this. I still have a lot of shit to write before putting an end to this story.

That being said, I hope you enjoy your read.

It was now 4 days since Subaru and Reinhard brought Rom and Felt to live with them at the Astrea Mansion. Since then, Subaru asked both to tell him more about the life they used to live to know more about the struggles of the 4 and 5 districts they had before.

With that, he learned that falling into criminality was inevitable since they were completely hopeless regarding their position in the society. No one would be there for them and the other choice they could have would be to sell their own body. Of course the idea of Felt falling into such activities angered everyone and was sufficient for Subaru and Reinhard to forgive her for any act she would have done in order to survive and swore she wouldn't need to keep going since they would be there for her.

Felt felt (Yeah, what the hell do you want me to write?) a bit reluctant to rely on someone, she was mostly independent all her life and ever only trusted Rom. Yet for a reason or another, she knew that she could trust them both, they had something, this feeling of safety she never found into anyone else in these distasteful slums.

On the other side, these four days have been quite though for everyone as well since Subaru had the brilliant idea to bring a demi human into one of the most prestigious family of the kingdom.

Sure, he didn't know. Who Rom was, who's Reinhard grandmother was, what implication or who the Astrea family really were... He had doubts when he saw how Rom was uneasy when they approached the mansion but at the time, he had thought he was simply feeling unwelcome in such a noble place regarding his own nature.

Subaru was a candidate for the throne, Reinhard was his knight and the sword saint, in addition to be the young master of the domain. No one had anything to say in this matter, regarding which choice they would make. But still, as Reinhard said, the scars remains within everyone and that was something even more true for the Astrea. Everyone suffered in this war, but saying they got their share more than anyone would be too simple.

Rom himself wasn't here because he wanted to, his goal was to watch over Felt and nothing more. He knew these two would be here for him if ever things were to escalate but frankly, he wasn't planning on staying here for long.

Because it's fair to say that the looks he got no matter where he went in this place, even though he had now the most luxurious food on the table, made him regret his old wretched loot house.

Felt on the other hand, aside from being constantly on edge about the looks they were giving to her old friend and actively avoiding anyone who would live in this mansion, had rather a good time hanging around with the duo. She was constantly with them if not with Rom, listening to their plans, theories, discussions and more. Without knowing it, in a matter of these 4 days it became a habit for her to follow them around and she was gladly welcomed to. It was a sight Rom was quite delighted to see, Felt finally laughing and having a good time with people she could call friends. Herself didn't realize up until now how great it was to be able to have fun and not having to fight to survive, she developed a lovely habit of pointing out how Subaru was weak during this time even if in her mind he was her hero who saved her and the only family she ever had from a psychopath, this was engraved in her heart every time she would look at them, this would never change.

Upon the same time, after hearing about the capital's whereabouts and strongly pushed by Felt criticism, Subaru decided it would be better for him to train a bit. He had made up his mind about being a weakling in this world since his miserable fails against the bowel hunter, the thugs and Rem, but if he had at the very least enough knowledge in self defense to take down three thugs in an alley, it would reassure him a bit.

Reinhard gladly picked up on this and offered his help, which Subaru accepted right away.

It was now 4 days, both of them kept practicing every afternoon for a couple of hours, just like they were doing now.

[Reinhard]" Your footwork is way better but focus on me! Don't let your eyes off your adversary, if you grip tight on your weapon it won't go anywhere!"

[Felt]" Ahah! Big Bro is too slow!"

In the Astrea yard, the candidate and the sword saint were both grunting and striking each other with wooden sword, under the cheers of Felt and a smiling Rom.

Of course, Reinhard was not really fighting, simply avoiding, parrying and returning blows effortlessly . He was here to train his master, not to fight. But he couldn't help to really enjoy this situation, he was having fun training with someone and especially his dearest friend who was enjoying this as well.

For anyone exterior to this, seeing these two who would nearly call each other brothers fighting while smiling and laughing between grunts was either a great sight to behold or extremely weird.

In 4 days, Subaru have been doing magnificent progress in fighting.

A part of it was probably Reinhard's divine protection of training mastery even though he seemed to be able to hold a sword pretty well on his own at the beginning.

His progress was rather impressive for Reinhard, being a knight since his 14 years old, he assisted to numerus trainings and battles and knew how to see a good swordplay when he saw one.

He thought his friend might simply have potential for this since all along.

[Subaru]" You're going easy, aren't you? Come on, be more serious!"

[Reinhard]" I'm afraid It would cause unwanted consequences if ever I were to do that!"

[Subaru]" Tch, It's hard to be OP right?"

[Reinhard]" OP?"

[Subaru]" Forget it! Come on, fight harder!"

With a slight scowl, Reinhard obeyed his master and fought a little bit harder.

Seeing an opening, he put himself into position and in a flash, swooped down on Subaru's shoulder. The strike was fast and barely readable. Yet, like a reflex he couldn't control, at the sight of seeing Reinhard moving closer, Subaru quickly raised his wooden sword and deflected the sword saint hit, much to his surprise.

Subaru backed off, still with his sword in hand and trembling a bit, Reinhard was standing still with his eyes widened, wondering how he did not land his hit. Subaru was progressing well, but not to the point of pulling a move like this one.

They just stood their watching one another, while Felt cutely tilted her head as she did not understand what just happened.

[Reinhard]" …This was…I think it's fair to ask at this point Subaru but…Have you practiced before?"

[Subaru]" Well, I was in a kendo club when I was younger but…"

Reinhard shook his head and lowered his sword down, meaning the training was over.

[Reinhard]" let's stop for today, you already did great progress"

[Subaru]" Ugh, thanks. I guess it's for the best too…"

They directed towards old Rom and Felt, who gave them towels to wipe their sweat, well, most Subaru at least.

[Felt]" You guys did nothing but training and planning these past few days, don't you think you should get a break?

Felt asked with a kind of pitying tone, remembering the nights were Subaru was still working in his room with nothing but a candle to lighten his desk on which he would often fall asleep.

[Subaru]" Unfortunately, if I want to win, I can't let myself loose. Not with such an opportunity."

Subaru smiled tiredly at Felt, who frowned a bit in worry. Subaru really seemed to work himself a bit too much in her eyes. Rom would've said the same if he could on this matter, but it would mean getting gazes from the residents of the manor. In Reinhard's eyes though, it wasn't that much. But it's Reinhard, he is…built differ-

[Felt]" You don't seem that convincing when you're talking like that big bro…"

Subaru met Felt's eyes who reflected her worries. Honestly, he felt blessed to have such a cute girl caring for someone like him.

Back in his world, Subaru Natsuki had no motives, no ambitions, nothing. He was a shut in who wasted his life doing nothing productive and deep down, he always despised this part of himself. Now, he had the occasion of doing something big, to do something good and have a better life, he wouldn't waste that.

[Subaru]" Thank you, Felt. But I can't slack off now when we barely just started. Besides, having a cute girl caring for me pumped me as hell !"

Felt blushed instantly before throwing her boot to his face which he managed to dodge while laughing along with the other men around.

Felt glared at him, even if she was worried for his state, seeing him smiling and speaking with such determination rubbed off on her.

With a faint sigh, she smiled back to him as he sat down to join her and old Rom around the table.

[Rom]" Looks like ya're keepin' the daily routine of trainin' now boy ain't you?"

Subaru tilted his head as he held his wrist to stretch his hand a bit.

[Subaru]" Well…It sure was more harder than I expected at the beginning but…I had some skills on my own, looks like I just needed to wake them up a bit. It sure became more easy but it's just a matter of time before Rein raises up the difficulty."

Reinhard chuckled a bit while looking at his master

[Reinhard]" It is true that your posture and fighting style didn't seem to be a debutant one. I suppose it is thanks to your…"kendo" was it ?"

Felt looked at both of them with confusion and curiousness in her eyes at this new word she never heard. Rom seemed intrigued as well.

[Felt]" What is that "kendou" thing ?"

Subaru chuckled and leaned a bit back of the table to have everyone in his field of view.

[Subaru]" Kendo is a traditional sport…Ah, a "sport" is something you do to train your body or for fun. In my homeland, it's basically "the way of the sword" that was practiced by the samurais, ancient warriors of my country. We were wearing armors and wielding wooden sword named "bokken" or a "shinai"."

Rom was simply impressed while Felt and Reinhard were at awe hearing about such thing existed for fun. In their eyes, surely like everyone in this world, training would remain a thing to prove itself in order to join the army or to survive, not for fun. Yet, the idea didn't displease them this much.

Subaru noticed their eyes full of admiration and came to a specific conclusion.

[Subaru]"W-wait…You guys don't have any social sports or games to have fun here? Like… Soccer?"

Reinhard winced a bit as he started to fall in deep thought, to find something to say. May it be to answer his master or to try to find good points for his kingdom.

[Subaru]" Basketball?"

Reinhard frowned a bit as he tried to find something.

[Subaru]" Volleyball? Tennis? What about baseball?"

Reinhard frowned even more as he was trying his best to find something, just one thing, to compete against Subaru's homeland!

[Subaru]" What about natation? You guys do have swimming pools, right? I mean, that exists since centuries in my world."

Reinhard ended up dropping his head on the table with a clear defeated look on his face as he had to give in that his kingdom didn't have anything like Subaru's.

Felt cheerfully tapped on his back as a false attempt to cheer him up. She didn't like this kingdom one bit anyway so she didn't care much about it losing to anything else. It didn't stop her for being extremely curious about what were all this thing Subaru talked about.

Rom smiled at Subaru with an interested look as well.

[Rom]" So, what's all those weird names about?'

Subaru looked around him and took a bit of grass on the ground that he rolled up in a ball. He then placed it on the table and took to cups that he put down on the side to make them look like goals.

He placed the little grass ball at the middle and imitated people with his two hands.

[Subaru]" So soccer. It's basically two teams, each of eleven players if I remember. You have a ball in the center and to put in simply you have to fight for it using only your feet and make it land into the opposite side's goal. You can't take the ball within your hands and run for example, only use your feet, those are the rules. You can't attack your opponents too or anything of the sort, neither you can boost your body, it's disloyal and considered as cheating."

Felt jumped in excitement as Subaru mimicked the game as Rom and Reinhard looked with great interest at this.

[Felt]" That looks so fun! I wanna try that!"

Subaru chuckled at Felt's excitement. It's true that she was a young and energetic young girl. She surely would be interested in something like that.

[Reinhard]" The more you talk about it, the more your country seem to be coming from a place unseen by anyone…No matter how you describe it, I really don't remember hearing or reading anything of the sort in the four countries that arbors the 4 corners of our world."

[Rom]" Yeah in short, your things are really weird and unique."

Reinhard threw a glance to Rom who resumed his little speech in such crude words.

[Subaru]" Well…I already told you I think…I'm not coming from here."

The three of them looked at him with confusion. Reinhard was aware that his master wasn't from Lugunica. But since he's forbidden to go anywhere else than his kingdom, he couldn't tell much about him.

Felt and Rom were not really different. They had no places to go anywhere else than the slums anyway.

Seeing his words didn't have the impact he desired, Subaru went on to explain it more.

[Subaru]" No, no. I'm not from HERE. This world I mean. I'm not coming from Lugunica, Vollachia, Kararagi or Gusteko….I'm…Coming from Japan. A small Island nation to the east of the map."

Reinhard reminded these same words Subaru told him the day they've met in that alley. "A small island naton to the east of the map".

He started to slowly pierce it together.

[Felt]" But as far as I remember there's not any nation at the east of Lugunica…"

Rom narrowed his eyes at Subaru as he slowly came to the same conclusion as Felt and Reinhard.

[All of them]" You're coming from above the great waterfall?!"

Startled, Subaru's eyes went wide as he remembered what Reinhard told him not so long ago, about the continent being cornered by waterfalls on the four extremities since the great calamity 400 hundred years ago.

[Subaru]" Well…Yeah, something like that…"

Felt was truly amazed by this. This could be interpreted as an alien for her or anyone here actually, someone who would be coming from another place, far away, that no one would know of.

But no one was more in shock than the sword saint himself. Sure, he knew that was coming from a far away place. He got that. He didn't ask in details since he didn't want to be rude, but now that he knew…

"From above the waterfall, to the capital…He rescued princess Emilia and found the daughter of Ford Lugunica…He also holds great knowledge and plans for the kingdom…"

Reinhard clenched his fists hard as he felt his loyalty growing more and more, he looked at Subaru with eyes filled with hope and determination.

"It has to be fate!"

[Felt]" That's…That's way too amazing!"

Subaru and Reinhard laughed at the visibly impressed tone taken by Felt. She was honestly looking at him with stars in her eyes as she thought about it.

[Subaru]" I guess that would only add to the valuable things that could be incorporated to the kingdom…"

[Reinhard]" Do you think so?"

[Subaru]" Hm…You know, these sports doesn't only focus on having fun. It's also a teamplay, a good way to pass exhaust yourself around with comrades and can be addictive to see. In my world, some of these are held in international competition, where rulers and millions of people across the world comes around to watch."

Reinhard was at awe after hearing such things. People from everywhere meeting all together to watch people having fun with these "sports" was unbelievable yet... He really started to think of Subaru's world as an amazing place…And Lugunica could be just as the same with him.

[Rom]" It woul' be quite somethin'. People actually gatherin' up to watch a play other than battles and blood spilled."

Subaru raised an eyebrow while smiling worryingly.

[Subaru]" So…I guess you're talking about gladiators…"

Reinhard smiled sheepishly as he heard Subaru talk about that.

[Reinhard]" So you do have these kinds of things…"

Yet, the candidate replied quickly in a cold and emotionless tone.

[Subaru]" We had. A thousand year ago."

The sword saint could only fall on the table as he had to recognize the absolute inferiority of his kingdom towards Subaru's.

Subaru simply smiled at his friend clearly defeated. Rom and Felt outright laughed at him, even if there was no hard feelings, they still loved to tease the noble man.

[Rom]" So ya wanna work on abolishing that?"

[Subaru]" I want to work on abolishing anything that is ill placed or uncivilized in this kingdom. I think that focusing on the well being of the population is a good goal. Classic but good one. Unfortunately….Too classic so there's surely other candidates who thinks about it. That's why I have to come with more…Details, ameliorations, proofs…Thanks to the few days I've spent in class I still have some basic knowledge in general, I should be able to introduce some things from my world…"

Reinhard slowly raised his head as Subaru's ideas put him back on track while Rom was fairly impressed by him. He wouldn't think about someone with such power actually using it to help the kingdom. The old giant was perplexed but…The idea pleased him. That boy…He had something that made him think that he wasn't joking about realizing things like that.

Subaru noticed his soft expression and felt really glad about it. If he managed to get Rom into following his plans, that was a huge step forward to acquiring the 4 and 5 districts trust.

Yet, his smile slowly turned backwards as he noticed by the corner of his eye, a redhaired man watching them by the window of the mansion.

When the man noticed he was seen, he quickly disappeared. But it was rather too late.

Subaru lowered his gaze to Reinhard who followed his master look earlier to see what was going on, the glint of sadness in his eyes would usually go unnoticed for most, but not for the king to be.

At north of the Astrea domain, far from the capital, in the Margrave mansion, a half elf worked diligently in her office, alone. As she was doing her best to prepare for the big event ahead, her quill started to slow as she seemed to be lost in her thoughts, until it stopped. She then sighed heavily as she gently dropped onto her desk, gently closing her eyes as she let herself be carried away by her thoughts, reminding her of the last days she lived in the company of the one person who had smiled at her and shown feelings of kindness by completely omitting who she was.

She began to smile unconsciously, these laughs that he gave her, these feelings of warmth, these tears ... All that was unique to this same person, this same boy who had arrived without warning one day in her life. ...To Save her.

[Emilia]" That he did…First in the capital…Then the village…While I was doing nothing…"

The more she thought about him, the more her smile faded. Little by little, she began to frown as her expression took on a more saddened air. She took a moment to understand why she was feeling this way, as droplets of tears began falling on her desk the more those memories played in her head.

[Emilia] "I miss him..."

A noise was then heard at the door of his office.

[Rem] "Lady Emilia? It's Rem. May I?"

[Emilia] "Ah, yes come in!"

The young servant then entered with a tray on which was to place a cup of tea. She immediately smiled at the young half-elf who could not help noticing that smiling look that she had not ceased to display on her face for a few days already.

[Emilia] "Rem ... You seem to be in a much better mood for a while, you rarely smiled before ..."

The half-elf then collided with the probable reason for this sudden change in the blue-haired girl.

[Rem] "Do you really think so, Lady Emilia? It's just that, I can't help but think of something that makes me want to smile ..."

The young maid started to blush as she thought again about what made her feel this way.

Emilia began to think about what could have pleased her so much about Subaru and Reinhard's visit.

"could it be ..." she thought

"She would have feelings ..."

her eyes widened, she put a hand over her mouth.

"For Reinhard ?!"

"ATCHOO"

Subaru turned to Reinhard as they both were in the study room reviewing some important points of the kingdom along with Felt by their side.

[Subaru] "Rein?"

[Reinhard] "Oh I… I don't know. It was pretty sudden."

Emilia cleared her throat in front of Rem, who eyed her puzzled.

She smiled at the maid with a brave and determined expression.

[Emilia] "Don't worry Rem! I am wholeheartedly with you!"

Rem blushed, clutching her fist to her heart, with a smile almost beaming at her mistress.

[Rem] "Thank you, Lady Emilia! I will do my best!"

Emilia could only smile at her more while discreetly congratulating herself on her fair deduction.

Bowing to her mistress, the young maid cheerfully took her leave of the office.

Finally, the entire mansion seemed to have changed since their arrival. Whether it was Rem, Ram or even Beatrice, all seemed to have received their share of influence either at the mansion or through interactions with the village.

The princess could only smile remembering the gratitude of the villagers to her and the mansion for helping in the rescue of the children, or even the latter having come here to thank her in person with small gifts.

For someone who has been rejected most of her life, this could only be a blessing.

The more she thought about it, the more she could not help feeling regret for the decision taken in the capital when they met.

[Emilia] "Should I have taken him with me?"

She turned slowly to her office window leading out onto the mansion's inner courtyard, contemplating the horizon thoughtfully. She didn't really know how to describe what she was feeling, but the closest description would easily be a heavy heart. Not knowing how to appease this feeling, she could only sigh sadly, closing her eyes.

[Emilia] "What are you doing now, Subaru?"

[Subaru] "And that's how we got around if we didn't have personal transport"

[Felt] "THIS IS ... BUT IT IS AMAZING !"

Subaru, Reinhard and Felt were gathered around a sketch drawn by Subaru, presenting what would look like a train and railroads.

[Subaru] "The best thing would be to run the railways through every major city in the country, so we would have a way to get to every important place quickly while still being able to transport a hundred people at a time."

Reinhard and Felt were in awe of such a thing. Technology in general did not seem to be common in Lugunica.

"They have their ways of doing things, earth dragon, magic ... Obviously since they have never had to manage as much as in our world, they do not yet know engineering ..."

[Subaru] "Looking at the power that can be introduced, trains can have varying speeds. Transporting cargo and goods does not have to be as fast as transporting people. If we can find a source powerful enough, citizens could even live in one city while working in another. "

Reinhard honestly didn't know what to think, in his head it was a giant metal snake following a predefined passage at high speed, but it was nonetheless extremely revolutionary. No matter how he saw it, it could only be an advantage for the kingdom.

[Reinhard] "It is…Really impressive…Do you really think we could bring that to life in…This world?"

[Subaru] "It's not magic or something proper to my world, it's an invention which is totally makeable as long as we have the materials for it and I think it wouldn't be difficult to find them here. But this is just one of the many ideas I have, to bring Lugunica to a new era! Just you wait!"

Subaru smiled while beaming at Reinhard with a pose, making him chuckle while Felt was laughing at how ridiculous he looked.

[Felt]" But I think you would have it rough to be elected with your ideas big bro. I mean, it's cool and all, but what these higher ups thinks about is themselves only, if you don't benefit them, you won't get anywhere."

Subaru and Reinhard looked at Felt bewildered as she leant on her seat with her hands behind her head.

[Felt] "I mean, what you want to do is just and right, but do they really care about that?"

[Reinhard] "Why wouldn't the righteous path be important fo-"

[Felt] "Tch. Don't try to fool yourself sword saint! You know very well what I'm talking about!"

Felt quickly took a slightly angry tone as she shouted to the sword saint.

[Subaru] "Hey now Felt. There's no need to yell."

Felt turned to a serious yet gentle speaking Subaru. She lowered her gaze a bit showing a glint of regret in her eyes on her behavior.

[Felt] "I didn't mean to! But it's pissing me off how he's denying it as if he don't know what I'm talking about!"

Reinhard shook his head with a small frown as he realized what Felt was talking about.

[Reinhard] "My apologizes, Felt-sama. It is indeed true that the nobles of the royal election are…Quite prideful."

[Subaru] "Mh. I feel we already had this discussion before, the higher ups who despise the lower society and vice versa. But here is all the challenge of this, I guess. I need to find a way to convince them about this way of thinking being wrong…"

[Felt] "You'll have it hard. These guys only think about themselves. What they want to elect is not a king but a puppet who'll obey them I'm sure! I would have been at your place, I would think of bringing them down first of all!"

[Reinhard] "M-Maybe the planification of a coup against the council of wise men and nobles would'-"

[Subaru] "Nah she's right. If this is their way of thinking, I would rather kick them out of my rule."

[Reinhard] "S-Subaru!"

Subaru and Felt couldn't help but to chuckle at Reinhard's pitiful low voice as he thought about his master going against the kingdom's royalty.

[Subaru] "Everything is about the show…I have to show them how I can bring justice and wealth to the kingdom, with a great power grip. What I do about the kingdom and the morals will have to be secondary."

[Felt] "That's one way of going at it, I would say that it would work better than exposing your good intentions first."

[Subaru] "It does feel…How to say, wrong? To think that good intentions would be a problem for them…."

Felt closed her eyes and shrugged.

[Felt] "You can't blame yourself to be too goodhearted in a kingdom of rotten souls big bro, they're the ones in the wrong!"

A surprised Subaru turned to Felt who, at first seemed to have said that in a disinterested tone.

Even if he didn't show it, all of this situation was stressing him quite a lot. Ruling a kingdom is no joke, there is a constant pressure about watching your steps and knowing what you do, so having someone reminding you that you're doing great or praising you in that kind of situation was always heartwarming. Feeling great, the candidate couldn't help but to smile warmly at the little princess with a soft stare. His eyes were focused on her cute face, so much that she started to blush, wondering what was going on with him. She was about to throw a tantrum when he pursued.

[Subaru] "See? I knew it was a good idea to have you by my side."

He chuckled at her loss of words, that comment was to kind for her to do anything now. She simply looked away to hide her face. Which only added to her cuteness.

Reinhard noticed this as well and smiled along with his master.

[Subaru] "By the way, where is Rom?"

[Felt] "He said he had to go back in the slums to talk with some dealers."

[Subaru] "Dealers…?"

[Reinhard] "Dealers?!"

Felt quickly waved her hands frantically in front of the duo, who seemed to misunderstand greatly about this.

[Felt] "No! Old man Rom doesn't work in that kind of business! It's just deals, goods! Regular stuff!"

Both sighed in relief as they didn't have to drag Rom back here after a SWAT raid in the slums.

[Subaru] "So Rom is still making deals? Even after the destruction of the loot house?"

[Felt] "Well yeah…I mean, he is the only one around who knows how this business works and for some people, it's the only way to survive you know…"

[Subaru] "Hm…Wouldn't it be a good opportunity?"

Subaru put his hand on his chin thinking about something, he looked to Reinhard and Felt back and forth and came up with a conclusion.

[Subaru] "All right, I'll go back to the slums to check on him and see with my own eyes how all of that "business" work. Rein, you take Felt and do…That thing.

[Reinhard] "Wait! Are you really going to go there all alone?!"

[Subaru] "Come on Rein, I'm just going straight to find Rom and learn more about the people there with my own eyes. If you come with me, I won't be able to see their true nature. Besides, you must do that thing."

Reinhard winced at his friend trying to go yet again to an unsafe place alone, he really disliked this part of him, of wandering in a possible wolf's den all alone just to "check" on something. Until now, every time he did, something tried to kill him.

[Reinhard] " Can I ask you to at least bring a weapon with you? You won't have to use it…Just wearing a sword at your waist should be enough to dissuade most of the people at the very least…"

Reinhard's voice sounded really pitiful as he was really wary of all that situation, Subaru knew it but he really needed to see this situation more precisely. Having a talk with the people themselves.

Subaru tapped his shoulder and smiled to him.

[Subaru] "All right, let's do this."

[Felt] "Wait wait wait!"

Felt glared at the duo, looking to one and the other back and forth narrowing her eyes as she was suspecting them.

[Felt] "What is "that" thing?"

Subaru and Reinhard looked at each other, one with a smile and the other thoughtful.

[Reinhard] "Oh right, do you want me to do that or this thing?

[Subaru] "No, that thing."

[Reinhard] "Are you sure this thing wouldn't be better?"

[Subaru] "It is better but we need to wait a little more for this thing, so do that thing."

[Reinhard] "Per your orders then."

Felt was the utmost confused as she didn't understand a thing about what just happened before her eyes. The candidate and the sword saint just spoke nonsense while perfectly understanding each other.

[Felt] "Tha…This…What the…."

[Subaru] "Anyway, let's go."

Reinhard then took Felt with him as they went to town while Subaru went to fetch a sword in the Astrea mansion.

He directed to the armory where several weapons were stashed and picked up an average sword, not too long or too little. He attached it to his waist and jumped a bit to see if it was fixed correctly.

Subaru was actually wearing a his usual royal uniform so he simply put his coat and was ready to leave, when he encountered a tall man wearing a leather armor, the same man who observed him a little while ago.

[Subaru] " Heinkel-san…"

[Heinkel] "Ah…Prince Subaru…."

Subaru was a bit startled for a second before he realized he was actually a prince now, he cleared his throat to hide it and looked back at the tall redhaired man.

[Heinkel] "May I ask where you are going…With a weapon at your waist?"

Heinkel had a weird tone. Subaru understood it as a fake gentle one, trying to hide his resentment over something, an ill feeling.

[Subaru] "Just checking something in the capital."

Since he kind of guessed what kind of view Heinkel would have towards the people of the slums thanks to Reinhard, Subaru decided to avoid speaking about the slums or Rom, to avoid some sparks.

He tried to answer while keeping a composed expression, he was practicing for a long time now how to have authority since he was royalty.

[Heinkel] "And my son isn't with you?"

[Subaru] "No, he is doing something else for now."

Heinkel huffed with a frown on his face, he started to smile nearly…sadistically.

[Heinkel] "That useless brat isn't even able to do something as simple that following his master…"

He spat out these words with such a cold and distasteful tone, Subaru actually wondered if they were both from the same family.

[Subaru] "You misunderstood Heinkel-san. I'm the one who ordered him to do something else while I would go to the capital, I insisted to go alone against his wishes since I need to see someone in private."

Heinkel raised an eyebrow in some pseudo interest.

[Heinkel] "Hm? And who?"

Subaru heaved a faint sigh as he didn't want to get to that part, he also noticed how Heinkel quickly changed the subject without caring about apologizing or anything of the sort regarding the words he just spoke.

[Subaru] "Old man Rom…"

[Heinkel] "Ah…That giant…"

Subaru immediately perked up at the way he just pronounced that word, showing his inner thoughts in broad daylight.

[Subaru] "That giant is working for me, Heinkel-san. So please, avoid speaking in such a manner about him.

Heinkel gritted his teeth at the way this boy was speaking to him, Subaru didn't need no more to understand that he hated that and it was justified; himself would hate to have a younger one ordering him.

[Heinkel] "You do realize that he is a filthy demi human, do you prince Subaru?! He is an enemy of Lugunica and as such, an enemy of the Astrea family! I already showed myself quite indulgent allowing him to spend nights under my roof!"

[Subaru] "What is the problem with him being a demi human?! He's not doing anything wrong to you isn't he? That war was in the past, it's time to forget it! He kept a low profile exactly because he knew you had these kind of resentment towards him while I ALLOWED HIM to follow me in my camp!"

[Heinkel] "In MY household, prince Subaru! I would ask you to have at the very least some respect towards your host, even if I'm bound to obey you!"

[Subaru] "I do respect you Heinkel-san, I do. But that side of you, I do not. And I won't."

Subaru was at the border of yelling and so was Heinkel. They somehow kept their cool while arguing towards one another.

Heinkel and Subaru looked right in the eyes of each other as they were about to start a battle. Even if he was the master of the domain and a the commander of the Lugunican army, Subaru still stood his ground without fear. If there is one thing that he hated, it was really the people who judged someone for nothing relevant.

[Heinkel] "Anyway, it nothing but a small matter now."

Subaru narrowed his eyes at Heinkel who just growled those words with faint...Evil, vicious smile that he tried to hide while looking at the window.

[Subaru] "What do you mean...?"

Subaru took a step further to the man with anger clear on his face.

[Subaru] "Now…? Heinkel-san, what….What have you done…?"

Subaru glared at him with a stern and commanding tone, something that didn't please the master Astrea one bit. But he was a prince, he has no say in this matter.

Heinkel turned to Subaru with a smile showing clearly what he thought.

[Heinkel] "I don't know what you are talking about, prince Subaru! All my life, now and in the future, I'm always doing only, what needs to be done."

Subaru's jaw dropped as he looked to him with wide eyes. His expression quickly changed to one of shock towards the man, but he didn't have time.

He quickly passed him and ran trough the hallway before barging out of the mansion, running towards the capital.

"Dammit, Rom!"

[?] "The capital seems…Lively as ever…"

In the large and colorful streets of Lugunica, a woman accompanied by what seemed like a cute catgirl were walking side by side. With one who seemed to have forgotten how to smile and the other one way to much cheerful, they made quite the polar opposite pair.

[?] "With all due respect, my lady, it is most of the time, you would know if you bothered to give yourself a break and visit this one a bit nya!"

Sighing a little exasperated at the comment of her faithful companion, the young woman continued her walk in the crowded streets of the capital.

It is true that she would be seen as a workaholic though, the kind of woman who'll do nothing but to work in order to achieve her goals, because nothing else really mattered for her.

With a walk emanating her righteousness, a firm and almost severe expression translating her confidence, she did not fail to impress and attract the eyes of anyone who passed her in her walk.

She knew it, the fact that she attracted intention and the image that she gave to others of a person who looked unruffled. And even though she didn't show it, she liked it.

She had to show this image of herself, she had to be serious and ruthless in order to achieve her goal, she had no room for error, no room for softness.

Each person in her path made room for her. No one dared approach or accost her, out of respect, admiration or fear, of the proud Grand Duchess Crusch Karsten.

[Subaru] "Haven't you seen him anywhere?! And you haven't heard anything about him ?!"

[Appa guy] "I already told you boy; I haven't heard from him for a few days!"

Alerted by the somewhat loud tone of the conversation, the green haired woman turned to the source of it, to see a young man in a uniform almost similar to the one she wore in a black color and a sword on his belt speaking with a fruit merchant.

[Felix] "Looks like some don't have the notion of public space nya ..."

Puzzled, the Duchess approached them.

[Subaru] "Argh! I'll continue my research in the slums."

Turning around, not looking where he was going, he stopped short before bumping into the young woman, observing him curiously as the catgirl beside him seemed to have an unpleasant gaze.

The duchess was a bit troubled. Being the heir of the Karsten house her family lived in Lugunica since generations, she then knew most of the nobles of the capital or at the very least, the people who would have enough status to wear such fancy clothes.

Yet that black haired boy, upon having the unusual look, was a total mystery to her.

She certainly wasn't the kind to meddle in business that didn't concern her but like anyone, from time to time, curiosity took the upper hand on her.

[Crusch] "Is there-"

[Subaru] "Sorry, I'm in a hurry, maybe next time!"

Completely ignoring her, Subaru passed her and continued his route towards the slums, leaving a rigid duchess in the middle of the street with a fuming catgirl, under the looks of everyone who would have assisted to the scene.

Crusch slowly frowned and soon had a really distasteful look on her face. Surely being cut like that wasn't something she was used to and coupled with the shame of being rudely ignored in public didn't help to appease her slowly growing anger.

[Felix] "Who the hell did he think he was?! Ignoring the heir of the karsten house and a royal candida-"

[Crusch] "Leave it, Felix. It was I, who shouldn't have meddled in the first place."

The young woman sighed in frustration while holding her forehead a bit and resumed her walk, glancing one last time to where the boy just disappeared.

Running trough the slums with a weight on the stomach reflecting how worried he was, the candidate searched every corner the district in hope to find a clue about his old friend.

He tried to question people but he couldn't, they would only avoid him.

"Someone…"

Doors would close before him, people would look away.

"Someone, please…!"

As he kept running, his fear grown. He wasn't even sure something happened to Rom, he was a giant and strong demi human after all. That's what he tried to think to reassure himself.

But a part of him couldn't deny, couldn't forget, the sight of that said man falling in front of him, covered in blood and dismembered by the bowel hunter. Old man Rom was intimidating but he wasn't that strong, not as his age.

But he had a slight hope, that he would survive until his arrival, that the people here would help him even a little, give him hints, a clue, a track, something, just talk! But they wouldn't. Because they didn't trust him, like him or whatever. Everything was a good reason to not meddle in one's business, everything was a reason to not get in trouble…At least it was for these people.

"Why…? Why are you all so useless?! Why can't you just…"

Subaru kept on running in the streets, panting and breathing heavily, he stopped in an intersection where he could see a large part of the slums. His nerve getting challenged, he gritted his teeth and took a deep breath, a way to say that if he couldn't reach him, he would try to make them, reach him.

[Subaru] " Rom!"

He started shouting his name. If people would stare at him and think of him as a hindrance, they would only deal with it. They were not important for him now, if they would stop him, the could just come.

[Subaru] " Rom where are you?!"

[?] " Why the hell are you shouting like that?!"

Hearing a voice amiliar to him, Subaru turned around. His sharp eyes met with people…We knew unfortunately too well.

"Hey! Ain't that guy…"

"Yeah it's him!"

"Let's g-"

Without any warnings or second thoughts, the tallest of the group took a sword scabbard right in the guts, before getting struck in the face by it's pommel. He fell on the ground like a rock, knocked out by the last hit right in the nerves of his face.

The two others wanted to avenge him, with hatred coming from their fallen brother and towards the said boy who had caused them humiliation and frustration over their few meetings.

Yet when they met his gaze, they couldn't feel anything but fear. Intense and pure fear, as the aura coming off of him would made the witch of envy herself back down, as his eyes unmatched in sharpness would pierce trough their own being.

Advancing slowly and dangerously like a dead man walking, he started to draw his sword menacingly. Both of them recoiled in fear, they wanted to run from all their might, they didn't want to have anything to do with him. Not now, not anymore. He was different…He was scary.

Subaru pointed his sword to the tallest of them two, "knife guy" he would call him, since he never bothered to ask that wretch's name.

[Subaru] "I will ask a question. Depending on your answer, it might get ugly for you or your friend on the ground. So answer… .Truth. Get it ?

The young man nodded in fear. He knew his life was on the line.

[Subaru] " Old man Rom. I know you know him, everybody here does. I want to know where he is, I want you to tell me everything you know. Now."

"O-old man Rom…Yeah..Yeah! I heard of him! He was…He was in the southern district, following his clients in the tavern fo-"

[Subaru] "Which tavern? Where?!"

"T-to the south! This way, you can't miss It, it's a large buildings with people drinking outside…"

Subaru looked the way he pointed with his finger and glanced to him one last time before sheathing his sword and heading south.

"Please be safe!"

Approaching the tavern, he surely didn't manage to stay low as he nearly barged in there making the entire room look right at him with disdain and wonder.

Subaru didn't flinch, he met them with equal disdain as he noticed that not any of them seemed to be good company.

Still a little unsure and afraid about all these people he walked confidently until the bar, meeting with the server who didn't took his worried eyes of the fancy looking sword he wore on his belt.

While Subaru didn't took his own eyes of his though, that's why he noticed that he might have some possible superiority here. The black haired boy leaned on the bar while taking his seat, trying to act as cool as he could remembering the films he used to watch back in his world.

[Subaru] " I'm looking for someone. Old man Rom. Someone "reliable" told me I could find him in here, or at the very least that he would've past trough here."

The barman looked at him with a small frown, an uneasy and warry one, before getting his eyes of the boy and cleaning his table.

[Barman] "If he was I don't remember."

Subaru narrowed his eyes to the barman, who tried his very best to not meet them in order to do exactly what everyone would to in these slums; meddle their own business.

Until Subaru decided to pull a little trick out of his pocket.

It was a masterful move taught by the thieve princess herself, that would make anyone's tongue here untie efficiently.

That's how he put a single blessed coin on the table and directed it towards the barman while holding his finger on it. All of this without letting go of his gaze for on second.

The barman sighed and leaned on the table as well.

[Barman] "What do you want to know again?"

[Subaru] "Old man Rom. Where is he?"

[Barman] "Why do you ask?"

[Subaru] " I need to see him, it's personal. You don't need to know more."

[Barman] "…Right."

The barman leaned back, making a sign to Subaru to follow him, which he did.

They crossed the entire room filled with gazes and growls towards them, until reaching a door leading to a side room at the rear of the back of the tavern.

In this room, the man opened a trap that led further down in the darkness, taking a lantern with him. Subaru stared at the barman while putting his hand on his sword to show his mistrust.

[Subaru] "What is this?"

[Barman] "The place where we do our deals."

He started to go down the stairs. Not seeing any alternative for now, Subaru decided to follow him, still wary of the situation.

[Barman] "Old man Rom is a figure around here you know? Some people respect him…Others need him…He is a figure around here as the kind of man who resisted with the likes of us, thrived with us…"

The atmosphere was becoming more and more grim and dark as the tone of the barman was. Subaru started to feel chills as he was feeling more unsafe at every step he took down that ceiling, he knew something was not right, he knew he had to keep his hand on his sword, be ready to draw at any moment.

[Barman] "A proud…and tough man…"

Reaching the end of the stairs, the barman advanced slowly towards the middle of the room plunged in darkness, which only the lantern he carried would slightly enlighten some places.

[Barman] "That's why…Yeah…That's why we were really kind of disappointed when we learned that he…"

Just like an horrible entire scene put in place just for him, the man slowly and viciously raised up his lantern, knowing exactly what he was about to expose. He scoffed a bit before going for it.

[Barman]"Betrayed us…"

Subaru could only watch as he felt time slowing down at every layer of darkness that was removed from his sight, His eyes shrunk, his breath got cut and his mind went blank at the horrifying sight that have been revealed to him showing of the mutilated, beaten and torn body of the man he searched for so long.

His body was shred to several places. His ankles, his wrists and his throat were sliced open still bleeding over his entire body, drippling on the dried pool of blood under his feet. His torso was cut in half leaving his organs and bowels slowly falling out of his belly, while his forearms were stuck in the walls with nails planted on his hands.

His face was entirely unrecognizable as it was shred to pieces letting the white colored bones of his skulls showing off to some places on his cheeks and his eyes pulled out of it's sockets.

Subaru slowly backed down as he tried to register what he was seeing as the man approached the mutilated body to show more and more of it.

[Barman] "Well he won't be doing nothing much anymore in that state won't he? That was the one and last time…"

Subaru's broken eyes slowly turned to him as he took pleasure to admire the corpse of his friend with his lantern. He turned around to meet the boy's eyes, to which he smiled.

[Barman] "Well you wanted to see him…Didn't I fulfill your wish?"

His lips trembling and breathing heavily, Subaru gritted his teeth in anger as his nearly stabbed his own palm with his nails. He softly whispered between his lips.

[Subaru]" You did this…?"

[Barman] "Mh..?"

[Subaru]"Did…You…Do this?"

The barman snorted at him and looked back to the body.

[Barman]" No, not alone though."

Subaru gritted his teeth even more as he put his hand on his face and hair to hold the pain. He breathed heavily as the memories of Rom with him, Reinhard and Felt played again in his mind.

Until he stopped breathing so heavily and seemed to calm himself down. The barman turned back to him with an emotionless look, visibly unshaken of the effect he just made on the boy. His hair were now down before his eyes, hiding those. Subaru stood still, looking down…Calm and motionless.

Intrigued, the barman came closer to him until Subaru drew his sword in a split of second and plunged it into the man's torso, finally meeting his eyes, his deep, glowing eyes filled with hatred and anger, as if the boy pierced his soul in the same time as he pierced his heart. He grabbed the boy's shoulders who didn't pray his eyes of him. His eyes reflecting nothing but disgust and fury.

The man weakly trying to pull the sword out by grabbing the blade, Subaru grabbed the man's neck and plunged the sword even further, until the guard reached his abdomen and the blade fully transpierced him.

As he fell down on the ground, mixing his blood with his friend's, Subaru didn't take his gaze of off his eyes one bit, until the light of life faded away, leaving only a dead body at the tip of his sword.

There we go, chapter 6 of our king to be in another world...

Ugh, I'm still unsure about the path that I'm taking right now but Subaru needs suffering and around the sword saint, it's not easy to find some plot but if ever this premise isn't to your taste, I could still modify it a bit I guess...After my hell of january and with a rested mind though...

I'm thanking you all again for the support and reviews you guys are giving me, as I said before I'm reading all of them and it's really heartwarming to see all of you wonderful people cheering for me and giving me ideas to keep this story on track. I'll do my best to meet your expectations.

That being said...Damn I need to sleep...

(They weren't really a lot of questions besides knowing if this would be a harem or not, which I would have to answer yes, though, I will try to developp it rather than a shitty romcom like shit show. Sorry for the main couple shipper, we already have that in the original story, I'm trying to make a different path.)
