Chapter 14: The Poison Sky

The Doctor and Fighter turned to Donna's mother and Wilf as the Doctor told them "Get inside the house. Just try and close off the doors and windows."

"Doctor, Fighter!" They turned to see Ross puling up in a black cab. "This is all I could find that hasn't got ATMOS."

The Fighter turned to Donna "You coming?"

"Yeah." She started following after them towards the cab.

Donna's mother grabbed her arm stopping her and pleading with her "Donna, don't go. Look what happens every time that Doctor appears! Stay with us, please!"

Wilf pulled his daughter away from her daughter as he patted Donna's arm as he looked at her proudly "You go. my darling. Don't listen to her. You go with the Doctor and Fighter. That's my girl."

The Doctor, Fighter and Donna climbed into the back of the cab as Ross looked around curiously "Where's the Master?"

The Fighter bit her lip which the Doctor and Donna noticed "He's fine, he went off to find out more." She replied lying a little feeling her hearts still drop from their argument "Let's go."

The streets were covered with the thick gas coming from the ATMOS in the cars as they drove by fast trying to avoid them. They finally arrived at the main gate of ATMOS factory getting out of the cab.

"Ross, look after yourself. Get inside the building." The Doctor told him.

Ross nodded "Will do." Picking up his radio "Greyhound Forty to Trap One. I have just returned the Doctor and Fighter to base safe and sound. Over."

The Doctor, Fighter and Donna began to walk to the side as Ross drove off. Donna started coughing looking around the air "The air is disgusting."

The Fighter looked to Donna concerned "It's not so bad for us but Go on, get inside the TARDIS."

The Doctor then realized "Oh, I've never given you a key." He reached inside his pocket to pull out a key for Donna grinning at her "Keep that. Go on, that's yours. Quite a big moment really."

Donna coughed a little while trying to sound a little sarcastic "Yeah, maybe we can get sentimental after the world's finished choking to death." She looked to the Fighter who had her arms crossed and was deep in thought, probably about the Master.

The Doctor looked over to the Fighter as well to see her deep in thought as he frowned "Good idea."

The Fighter snapped out of her trance looked up to see them looking at her "Hmm?" The Doctor came over and grabbed her hand as they started walking.

Donna called after them "Where are you two going?"

"To stop a war." The Doctor replied as him and the Fighter started running back to the UNIT truck forcing their way through the gas. They walked into the truck and straight up to Colonel Mace. "Whatever you do, Colonel Mace, do not engage the Sontarans in battle. There is nothing they like better than a war. Just leave this to us."

Mace raised his eyebrow "And what are you two going to do?" He looked around behind them curiously "And without your other Time Lord friend that was with you?"

The Fighter looked up at him glaring "We've got the TARDIS. We are going to get on board their ship, comprendre?"

As they began leaving, The Fighter looked over to Martha who was looking at her as she wondered why she didn't come up to her asking about the Master not being with them, it just didn't seem like her. She gave a curious look to her knowing what has happened to her as the Doctor grabbed her hand "Come on."

They began hurrying back to the TARDIS in the alleyway as they both chatted. "They already got to Martha. They must have her hidden somewhere." The Fighter commented.

"She's probably in the factory somewhere, we'll find her." The Doctor replied back as he added looking to the Fighter carefully knowing the subject was sensitive to her still "Along with the Master."

They appeared in the alleyway only to see the TARDIS missing. "Really?" The Fighter rolled her eyes feeling the tears threatening to fall from her eyes as she put her hands on the wall where the TARDIS was, having her back to the Doctor as he watched her. She was trying to keep up her tough facade of showing that the Master's departure didn't bother her when it did.

She began to feel her facade falling as she punched the stone hard wall over and over again screaming as a few pieces crumbled to her feet. The Doctor watched her sadly refusing to leave her side and letting her get out her emotions she always bottled up. She then turned around falling to the ground crying, her knuckles a bit bloody as the Doctor came over sitting next to her on the ground as she leaned her head on his shoulder. He took her hands into his as he looked over her bloody and hurt knuckles.

They sat there silently for a little as she sniffled when the Doctor finally spoke up "We keep telling you, you can always lean on us. We are your childhood friends after all. Don't bottle up your emotions and hide them away as you know it's bad for you." He gently rubbed her hands to help make them feel better as he avoided the knuckles "When are you going to learn that?"

He then moved her hair away from her face as he looked at her. He couldn't handle it when she cried, it hurt him when she was this way but it hurt more when she would bottle her emotions away. He knew she was crying over the Master though she wouldn't say it out loud. Though she was a Fighter not only Physically but mentally, every Fighter had their limits just like everyone else.

The Doctor felt a bit angry at the Master for making her cry which the Doctor himself would never do to her, but he also knew that the Master was hurting from their argument as well. Though he was a bit jealous and hurt by the Fighter choosing the Master over him, he was happy for them as well and would support his two childhood friends through it.

After being silent for a bit, the Fighter finally spoke up sobbing a bit as she called him by his childhood name "It's how I was taught to deal with all the pain Theta, take it and deal with it or let it get to you and bring you down. That's how I've dealt with every thing that's happened! I take the pain, deal with it and try to over come it." She stayed silent for a little bit until she broke out in another sob letting down her shields completely as she asked him "Why? Why does everyone I love leave me? My mother, my father, my sister Romana and now the Master. Why can I never be good enough for them to stay?"

The Doctor took her into a hug gently petting her hair "Don't you ever say you're not good enough! You're one of the strongest women I have ever known." He pulled back from the hug looking at her face and wiping away her tears "I can't answer why they leave because I'm still trying to figure out the answer myself but...I'll never leave you. I've always been by your side, right?" She gave a nod "And I always will be by your side, I promise."

She gave a slight smile as tears fell from her eyes again. She took him into a hug "Thank you Theta." After a few silent seconds of hugging she said something that shocked him "I'm sorry I couldn't return your feelings for me this time, but back then when you first came back to Gallifrey in your Fourth Incarnation with that ridiculous scarf and saved me, I actually started developing a crush on you. I thought of you as my prince who came to save me like all those others princes in the Fairytale books you let me borrow when we were little."

She gave a tiny chuckle as he looked at her shocked "Sorry I didn't tell you about it before. I was still trying to cope with what happened with my husband and all." She looked down a bit then back up at him "But my feelings for Koschei had always been there strong and hidden deep inside me unknown until now. We seem to have a lot in common like the drums in his head and the ticking clock in mine along with how when we touch each other they seem to be quieted until we separate. I guess it was just...meant to be, The universes way of working itself out." She rolled her eyes and laughed a little as she looked back into his shocked face.

The Doctor got himself together and looked at her "I didn't even know you ever felt that way about me." He blushed a little and laughed "Yeah, I guess it is just the universes way of working itself out." Back then he couldn't tell she had liked him like that, he didn't even know though her 3rd Incarnation was flirty with everyone even him he still didn't know. It made his hearts race a little in joy knowing she thought of him in that way.

He looked into her eyes as she appeared to stop crying and dared to ask "I guess we'll never know what would have happened between us if the universe put us together." They both laughed as she suddenly gave him a quick kiss like she always did to shut him up in her 5th incarnation. "Yeah but I will say one thing," She blushed a little "I never knew you liked me like that too." They laughed "But thanks for loving me and know, I'll always be here for you too if you ever need someone to lean on, always have and always will." She grinned at him getting up as she held her hand out to him to help him up. "We better get to work, we have a planet to save again!"

She was beginning to feel better after talking to him like a sister would to a brother. The past was in the past and they were in the present. They would remain close childhood friends and the Doctor was ok with that, at least they talked their feelings out. Now to have her do the same with the Master but first, they had to save the world.

The Master was walking down the smoky road that led to some business places as he saw people running into shops to avoid the smoke. He was walking with his hands in his pockets deep in thought about his argument with the Fighter. He thought "Oh the Doctor must be getting joy out of this with me out of the picture now, having her all to himself!"

He frowned at the thought feeling his hearts hurt a little in pain. Why didn't she obey him? All he was trying to do was protect her but she goes and does a stupid thing like that. She could have died and he wouldn't know how to deal with it if he lost her. She was his world, his light in his dark life, his Tiger. He had never loved anyone like he loved her.

He found himself suddenly sitting at a table in a cafe that wasn't that busy. He hadn't even noticed as he was so deep in thought. He then looked up to see an old man looking down at him as the Master looked at him shocked "What?" He asked the old man a bit bitter.

The old man gave a small smile and replied "Something seems to be bothering you. What happened, get in a fight with your girlfriend or something?"

The Master looked at him shocked at first but then frowned looking away from him "What's it to you, old man?

The old man nodded and sat down across from him at the table. "You seem to be struggling child. I maybe just an old man but along with it, I am wise."

The Master looked up at him with narrowed eyes hesitating to tell this strange but somewhat familiar old man his problems. After a while he decided to tell him since he probably wouldn't see him ever again "You were right, I got into an argument with my girlfriend. She just wouldn't listen to me when I told her not to get into the car. She could've gotten herself killed and I-" He paused as he hid his face in his hands "I wouldn't know how to deal with that."

The old man nodded understanding "Sounds like she's a stubborn woman." He gave a tiny smile at this.

The Master nodded taking his hands away from his face looking back at the old man as a smile came to his own face "Yeah she is, my Tiger. It's one of the many things I love about her but, it causes her to be an idiot and dash right into death without even thinking of what it could do to her." He slammed his fists on the table as the old man didn't even flinch. "I don't want to lose her, I- I can't lose her."

The old man nodded again "But regardless, you still love her and want to be with her right."

"Of course I do! I spent centuries chasing after her and our friend, the only thing I've ever wanted more than anything else is to be by her side." The Master replied raising his voice a little, at least they were the only people in cafe now besides the blonde waitress picking up dishes.

The old man turned to the blonde waitress to their side holding a tray of dishes "Are you hearing this Rose?"

The blonde waitress turned to look at them putting the tray down on the table as she nodded "Heard every word. You should go back."

The old man turned to the Master adding on "Go back to the one you love, don't make the same mistakes we did. Be by her side." The blonde waitress nodded looking a bit sad.

The Master got up from his chair "Alright. Uh-"

"No need to thank us." The old man looked to him.

The Master nodded and turned away from them before turning back giving them a curious look "Who are you two?"

"Just a normal waitress." The blonde waitress replied.

"And just an old man." The old man replied.

The Master nodded and decided to accept their answers eager to get back to the Fighter and Doctor. He walked out of the cafe door and began walking down the street. He didn't know where to look for her first but they were connected, the Fighter and him were mates, meant to be. They would find their way back to each other as love had a funny way of doing that.

"But where's the TARDIS?" Clone Martha asked sounding a bit like the real Martha unlike before.

The Doctor commented not answering her question "Taste that, in the air. Yuck. That sort of metal tang. Teleport exchange. It's the Sontarans. They've taken it. We're stuck on Earth like, like an ordinary person. Like a human. How rubbish is that? Sorry, no offence, but come on." They looked to the clone Martha for a reaction but got none.

The Fighter asked Martha referring to the Master "Hey Martha, don't you think oh idk someone you think we should be keeping a close eye on is missing."

Clone Martha shook her head "No." The Fighter nodded knowing the real Martha would freak out a little with the Master not being there.

Clone Martha asked "So what do we do?"

The Doctor replied as him and the Fighter stared at Clone Martha "Well, I mean, it's shielded. They could never detect it."

"What?" She asked them sharply for the way they were looking at her.

"I'm just wondering, have you phoned your family and Tom?" The Doctor asked raising his eyebrows.

Clone Martha shook her head frowning "No. What for?"

The Fighter answered "The gas. Tell them to stay inside."

Clone Martha's eyes widened realizing her mistake as she corrected herself "Course I will, yeah but, what about Donna? I mean, where's she?"

The Doctor replied lying to her "Oh, she's gone home. She's not like you. She's not a soldier. Right." The Fighter nodded agreeing "So. Avanti."

The Doctor and Fighter were back in the UNIT mobile as they walked up to Mace "Change of plan."

Mace turned to them smiling "Good to have you fighting alongside us, Doctor and Fighter."

"I'm not fighting. I'm not-fighting, as in not hyphen fighting, got it?" The Doctor told him. He then asked everyone in the room as he examined the cylinder "Now, does anyone know what this gas is yet?"

Martha informed them walking back to her same seat as before "We're working on it."

A blonde woman in a green uniform informed them staring at her computer screen in front of her "It's harmful, but not lethal until it reaches eighty percent density. We're having the first reports of deaths from the centre of Tokyo City."

"And who are you?"

The woman stood quickly facing them as she saluted "Captain Marion Price, sir, ma'am."

The Doctor sighed waving her off "Oh, put your hand down. Don't salute."

"He doesn't like people saluting him" The Fighter whispered to her.

Mace added in as he brought up a map on the screen for them to see "Jodrell Bank's traced a signal, Doctor, coming from five thousand miles above the Earth. We're guessing that's what triggered the cars."

"The Sontaran ship." The Doctor and Fighter said as another red dot appeared on the screen.

Mace said to them while messing with the controls "NATO has gone to Defcon One. We're preparing a strike."

The Fighter frowned at him "You can't do that. Nuclear missiles won't even scratch the surface. Let us talk to the Sontarans."

Mace shook his head "You're not authorised to speak on behalf of the Earth."

The Fighter glared at him "Actually, we've got that authority. We've earned that a long time ago buddy!"

The Doctor reaches inside his pocket pulling out his sonic screwdriver and puts it in the communications system. "Calling the Sontaran Command Ship under Jurisdiction Two of the Intergalactic Rules of Engagement. This is the Doctor and Fighter."

"Long time, no see!" The Fighter greeted. "You guys just never seem to learn."

"Doctor, Fighter, breathing your last?" Staal asked them appearing on the screen.

Mace gasped shocked "My god, they're like trolls."

The Doctor rolled his eyes at Mace "Yeah, loving the diplomacy, thanks." The Fighter and Doctor walked to their seats as the Doctor put his feet up on the computer in front of him.

"So, tell me, General Staal, since when did you lot become cowards?" The Fighter asked.

Staal shouted looking offended "How dare you!"

Mace scoffed rolling his eyes "Oh, that's diplomacy?"

Staal glared at them "Doctor, Fighter, you impugn my honour."

The Doctor grinned "Yeah, I'm really glad you didn't say belittle, because then I'd have a field day. But poison gas? That's the weapon of a coward and you know it. Staal, you could blast this planet out of the sky and yet you're sitting up above watching it die. Where's the fight in that? Where's the honour? Or..." He turned to look the the Fighter

She spoke "Are you lot planning something else, because this isn't normal Sontaran warfare. What are you lot up to?" She looked to Staal on the screen curiously.

Staal gave them cold looks A general would be unwise to reveal his strategy to the opposing forces."

The Doctor smiled slightly "Ah, the war's not going so well, then. Losing, are we?"

Staal glared "Such a suggestion is impossible."

Mace asked frowning "What war?"

The Fighter told him "The war between the Sontarans and the Rutans. It's been raging, far out in the stars, for fifty thousand years. Fifty thousand years of bloodshed, and for what?"

Staal shouted "For victory. Sontar-ha." As the other Sontarans joined in the battle cry "Sontar-ha. Sontar-ha. Sontar-ha. Sontar-ha. Sontar-ha."

The Doctor changed the channel with the screwdriver as cartoons appeared on the screen "Oh,Give me a break." A new but familiar voice said as everyone turned around to see who it was. The Fighter looked at the person shocked to see them as much as the Doctor.

"M-Master..."The Fighter stuttered looking at him shocked and frozen as she stood up.

He was standing in the middle of the room a few distance apart from her as he smirked at her and the Doctor. "I'm gone for a little bit and you're already causing mischief Tiger."

She looked at him still shocked as she was battling herself inside to not burst out crying in joy in front of everyone there. She was so happy he was back but she was still mad with him for what happened.

He held his arms out for her to come as she remained standing where she was "Well are you going to hug me or not?"

She ran over to him quickly accepting his hug as he took her in his arms. "You're an idiot as well you know that." She whispered ti him laughing a bit.

He replied laughing as well "I know but you're an idiot to but I love you anyway."

Mace looked to the Doctor "Doctor. I would seriously recommend that this dialogue is handled by official Earth representation."

The Fighter and Master went to the Doctor joining him by his side as ignored Mace switching the channel back to the Sontaran "Finished?"

Staal glared at them with a proud look "You will not be so quick to ridicule when you'll see our prize. Behold." They look to see the TARDIS "We are the first Sontarans in history to capture a TARDIS."

"Well, as prizes go, that's noble." The Fighter said putting an emphasis on Donna's last name. "As they say in Latin, Donna nobis pacem."

The Doctor added in "Did you never wonder about its design? It's a phone box. It contains a phone. A telephonic device for communication. Sort of symbolic. Like, if only we could communicate, you and I."

Staal laughed not catching what they were on to "All you have communicated is your distress."

The Master replied smirking "Big mistake though, showing it to us."

Staal shouted "Cease transmission!"

Mace glared at the childhood friends "That achieved nothing."

The Fighter replied smirking "Oh, you'd be surprised Mr. Colonel. Never underestimate us!"

The Fighter informed the Master on everything that had happened as The Time Lords and Lady walked back over to Clone Martha who was standing by the glass cylinder with gas swirling around inside it as she checked the readings on her clipboard. The Master grabbed the clipboard from her holding it for the others to see the readings.

Clone Martha began telling them "There's carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, but ten percent unidentified. Some sort of artificial heavy element we can't trace. You ever seen anything like it?"

The Doctor commented frowning "It must be something the Sontarans invented. This isn't just poison. They need this gas for something else. What could that be?"

Price called from behind them at her computer "Launch grid online and active."

Mace gave everyone an order "Positions, ladies and gentlemen, Defcon One initiatives in progress."

The Doctor faced them shouting "What? I told you not to launch."

Mace gave him a hard look "The gas is at sixty percent density. Eighty percent and people start dying, Doctor. We've got no choice."

"No, you've always got a choice. Look, we're trying to find a way to save everyone right now. Don't do this and cause a bigger war. This isn't the way to fight it." The Fighter pleaded with him. Mace ignored her.

Price began counting down "Launching in sixty, fifty nine, fifty eight, fifty seven, fifty six. Worldwide nuclear grid now coordinating. Fifty four, fifty three."

The Master glared at Mace "You're making a mistake, Colonel."

The Doctor commented givign Mace the same look "For once, I hope the Sontarans are ahead of you."

Red little dots started appearing all over the screen as Price called out "North America, online. United Kingdom, online. France, online. India, online. Pakistan, online. China, online. North Korea, online. All systems locked and coordinated. Launching in ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five-"

Mace prayed "God save us."

"Four, three, two, one."

Suddenly the screens went black and turned off. Mace asked looking shocked "What is it? What happened? Did we launch? Well, did we?" The Doctor, Fighter and Master exchanged looks knowing what happened as they glance over to Clone Martha as they got up and started walking over to her slowly.

Price replied "Negative, sir. The launch codes have been wiped, sir. It must be the Sontarans."

"Can we override it?"

The Doctor shook his head "Missiles wouldn't even dent that ship, so why are the Sontarans so keen to stop you?" He looked to clone Martha "Any ideas?"

"How should I know?" She replied raising her eyebrows.

Ross's voice shouted over the radio "Enemy within. At arms. Greyhound Forty declaring Absolute emergency"

Mace walked over to the radio "Absolute emergency. Declaring Code Red. All troops, Code Red." The Doctor, Master and Fighter exchanged looks.

"Get them out of there." The Fighter shouted at Mace. "They're going to die if you don't! Get them out of there!"

Mace ignored her again "All troops, open fire."

"Listen to her!" The Master and Doctor shouted as gun shots were heard over the radio then it went silent.

Ross's voice was heard a moment later "Guns aren't working. Inform all troops, standard weapons do not work." The sound of men's dying screams were heard "Tell the Doctor, Fighter and Master it's that cordolaine signal. They're the only ones who can stop them." Nothing but static was heard after that.

Mace ordered "Greyhound Forty, report. Over. Greyhound Forty, report. Greyhound Forty, report."

The Fighter glared at him with a sad tone and a bit of anger "He wasn't Greyhound Forty. His name was Ross. Now listen to me, and get them out of there you idiot!"

"Listen to her right now!" The Master yelled.

Mace slightly flinched as he said "Trap One to all stations. Retreat. Order imperative. Immediate retreat." But it was too late as more shots were heard with screams.

Mace sighed reading the reports "They've taken the factory."

The Master shook his head "Why? They don't need it. Why attack now? What are they up to?"

The Fighter commented "Times like this, we could do with the Brigadier." She glanced to Mace "No offence."

Mace nodded "None taken. Sir Alistair's a fine man, if not the best. Unfortunately, he's stranded in Peru."

Price announced "Launch grid back online." The screen then went blank again. "They're inside the system, sir. It's coming from within UNIT itself." The Gallifreyans looked over to Martha.

Mace ordered "Trace it. Find out where it's coming from, and quickly. Gas levels?"

"Sixty six percent in major population areas, and rising."

Mace wondered as he looked to the Time Lords and Lady standing in the office to the side of the main control room. "Sixty six percent in major population areas, and rising."

The Master replied "Because they wanted UNIT here. You gave them something they needed. Something now hidden inside the factory. Something precious."

Mace frowned looking to them "We've got to recover it. This cordolaine signal thing, how does it work?"

The Doctor informed him slipping off his glasses "It's the bullets. It causes expansion of the copper shell."

Mace smiled standing tall "Excellent. I'm on it." He then left the room.

The Fighter shouted annoyed with this man to no end "For the billionth time, you can't fight Sontarans!"

They sighed as the Fighter jumped up with a brilliant idea. She walked over to the nearest UNIT officer as the Master and Doctor looked at her curiously. " Phone. Have you got a phone? I need your mobile. Quickly, hurry up."

The man handed over his phone to her as she walked back into the office to join her friends. She began to call Donna in the TARDIS as she put the phone on speaker for them to hear. "Where are you?" Donna asked as the Fighter carefully watched Clone Martha from the blinds.

The Doctor replied "Still on Earth. But don't worry, I've got my secret weapon."

"What's that?"

"You."

"Oh. Somehow that's not making me happy. Can't you just zap us down to Earth with that remote thing?"

"Yeah, I haven't got a remote, though I really should. I need you on that ship. That's why I made them move The TARDIS. I'm sorry but you've got to go outside."

Donna protested "But there's Sonteruns out there."

The Doctor corrected her "Sontarans. But they'll all be on battle stations right now. They don't exactly walk about having coffee. We can talk you through it."

"But what if they find me?"

"I know, and I wouldn't ask, but there's nothing else we can do. The whole planet is choking, Donna."

The Fighter spoke to her in the phone "I know you can do this Donna, you're a strong woman like me!"

Donna asked "What do you need me to do?"

The Doctor told her "The Sontarans are inside the factory which means they've got a teleport link with the ship, but they'll have deadlocked it. I need you to reopen the link."

"But I can't even mend a fuse."

The Fighter cut in "Donna, stop talking about yourself like that. You can do this. I know you can!"

Donna said sounding fearful "There's a Sonterun. Sontaran."

"Did he see you?"

"No, he's got his back to me."

"Right, Donna, listen. On the back of his neck, On his collar there's a sort of plug, like a hole. The Probic vent. One blow to the Probic vent knocks 'them out."

"But he's going to kill me."

The Fighter replied "Sorry...but give them a bit of your Donna Noble anger! Show them they are messing with the wrong woman!"

Donna said feeling a little more confident as a thud was heard "Back of the neck."

The Doctor added in grinning "Now then, you got to find the external junction feed to the teleport."

"What, what's it look like?"

"A circular panel on the wall. Big symbol on the front, like a, like a Letter T with a horizontal line through it. Or, or, two Fs back to back."

Donna said sounding unsure "Oh. Well, there's a door."

"Should be a switch by the side."

"Yeah there is. But it's Sontaran shaped, you need three fingers."

"You've got three fingers." The Time Lords and Lady exchanged smiles as the Master laughed.

"Oh, yeah." As the sound of something swoshing was heard. "I'm through."

The Fighter grinned "Oh, you are brilliant, you are."

Donna replied with pride "Shut up. Right. T with a line through it."

"Warning Colonel Hard head coming this way!" The Master told them as they looked up to see Mace walking back towards the control room.

The Doctor quickly told Donna "Got to go. Keep the line open." He hung up the phone.

The childhood friends ran back into the main room as Mace announced "Counter attack."

The Master shouted at Mace "We said, you don't stand a chance."

Mace ignored him continuing "Positions." He turned to look at them "That means everyone." He tossed them gas masks as he headed back outside.

The Time Lords and Lady exchanged looks as Clone Martha walked over to them "You're not going without me."

The Doctor replied "Wouldn't dream of it." As they all headed back outside.

They were all standing outside wearing gas masks with the rest of the unit soldiers standing outside the ATMOS factory as Mace held up a gun for them to see. "Latest firing stock. What do you think, Doctor, Master and Fighter?"

"Are you my mummy?" The Doctor asked as the Fighter and Master looked to him confused.

Mace looked irritated "If you could concentrate." He picked up a bullet in a box handing it to the Gallifreyans to see "Bullets with a rad-steel coating. No copper surface. Should overcome the cordolaine signal."

The Fighter put the bullet back in the box as the Doctor argued "But the Sontarans have got lasers. You can't even see in this fog. The night vision doesn't work."

Mace glared at him "Thank you, Doctor. Thank you for your lack of faith. But this time, I'm not listening." He pulled off his gas mask.

The Fighter muttered "Like you ever listened before." The Master and Doctor nodded agreeing with her.

Mace turned to his soldiers "Attention, all troops. The Sontarans might think of us as primitive, as does every passing species with an axe to grind. They make a mockery of our weapons, our soldiers, our ideals. But no more. From this point on, it stops. From this point on, the people of Earth fight back, and we show them. We show the warriors of Sontar what the human race can do. Trap One to Hawk Major. Go, go, go."

They all looked up to see where the loud sound from above them was coming from only to see The Valiant above them. "It's working. The area's clearing. Engines to maximum."

The Doctor, Master and Fighter looked up shocked removing their gas masks and remembering everything that happened on it as they said "It's the Valiant."

Mace grinned over to them "UNIT Carrier Ship Valiant reporting for duty, Doctor, Master and Fighter. With engines strong enough to clear away the fog. Getting a taste for it?"

The Doctor shook his head "No, not at all." The Fighter added in "Not us." They looked to the Master who still looked at the Valiant shocked as the Fighter took his hand in hers smiling.

Mace raised his eyebrow and spoke into his radio "Valiant, fire at will." Six bright green beams shot from it and going towards the ATMOS factory as UNIT soldiers ran around overcoming the Sontarans. They followed Mace along with Clone Martha inside the factory as Mace shouted "East and north secure." The Doctor, Master, Fighter and Clone Martha began running down a corridor as Mace called after them "Doctor? Master? Fighter?"

The Doctor called over the phone "Donna, hold on. We're coming." He put the phone away before Clone Martha could see it.

Clone Martha asked "Shouldn't we follow the Colonel?"

The Fighter took out her sonic screwdriver scanning the area "Why should we do that? Besides it's just like old times, You, Me, The Doctor and...The Master." She looked over for her reaction to his name but got none as the Gallifreyans exchanged looks. "Alien technology, this-a way." She pointed ahead with her pink sonic as they walked on.

They came to a basement as the lights popped on. "No Sontarans down here. They can't resist a battle. Here we go." The Master said as they pushed through double doors into a dimly lit laboratory. They looked to see the real Martha lying on a metal basket unconscious. The Fighter and Doctor ran over to the real Martha as the Master joined them "Oh, Martha, I'm so sorry." The Doctor said

The Fighter checked for her pulse giving a sigh of relief "Still alive." Their was the sound of a gun getting loaded as they turned to see the Martha clone standing over them aiming a gun at the Master's head. "Oh, isn't this ironic?" The Master commented laughing a little. "Am I supposed to be impressed?"

The Martha clone smirked over at the Doctor and Fighter "Wish you carried a gun now?"

The Fighter replied remaining calm "I don't need one."

The Doctor said "Not at all."

"I've been stopping the nuclear launch all this time."

The Doctor nodded "Doing exactly what we wanted. We needed to stop the missiles, just as much as the Sontarans. We're not having Earth start an interstellar war. You're a triple agent."

The clone frowned at them "When did you know?" Having her gun still aimed at the Master but a bit distracted.

The Doctor raised his eyebrows "About you? Oh, right from the start. Reduced iris contraction, slight thinning of the hair follicles on the left temple. And, frankly, you smell. You might as well have worn a T shirt saying clone. Although, maybe not in front of Captain Jack. You remember him, don't you? Because you've got all her memories. That's why the Sontarans had to protect her, to keep you inside UNIT. Martha Jones is keeping you alive."

The Fighter then yanked the device around the real Martha's head off as she jolted up. Her clone collapsed to the ground clutching her chest and dropping the gun as the Master ran over to help the Fighter as the Doctor joined them. "It's all right, it's all right, We're here, We've got you." The Fighter said to help calm her.

"There was this thing, this alien, with this head." Martha said frantically clutching onto the Fighter shaking.

A phone started ringing as the Doctor took the cell out of his pocket muttering "Oh! Blimey, I'm busy." He opened the phone putting it on speaker "Got it?"

Donna shouted "Yes. Now hurry up."

The Doctor told her "Take off the covering. All the blue switches inside, Flick them up like a fuse box, and that should get the teleport working."

Martha gasped looking at the clone "Oh, my God. That's me.

The Doctor takes off his coat putting it around Martha as he goes to work on the teleport. The Fighter is watching over Martha as the Master helps her. Martha started walking over to her clone as the clone yelled out "Don't touch me."

Martha replied "It's not my fault. The Sontarans created you, but you had all my memories."

The clone gasped find it hard to breath "You've got a brother, sister, mother and father."

"If you don't help me, they're going to die."

"You love them."

"Yes. Remember that?"

"The gas. Tell us about the gas."

"They're the enemy!" The clone glared at the Doctor, Fighter and Master.

"Then tell me. It's not just poison, what's it for? Martha, please." The real Martha begged.

The clone sighed telling "Caesofine concentrate. It's one part of Bosteen, two parts Probic five."

The Master exclaimed "Clonefeed. It's clonefeed! Of course!"

Martha looked to him and the Fighter asking "What's clonefeed?"

The Master explained "Like amniotic fluid for Sontarans. That's why they're not invading. They're converting the atmosphere, changing the planet into a clone world. Earth becomes a great big hatchery. Because the Sontarans are clones, that's how they reproduce. Give them a planet this big, they'll create billions of new soldiers. The gas isn't poison, it's food." The Fighter nodded agreeing.

The clone gasped in pain "My heart. It's getting slower."

The Fighter started to walk over to go help the clone only to be pulled back by the Master as he looked at her "There's nothing you can do." She bit her lip knowing that but still wanting to try.

The clone spoke to Martha "In your mind, you've got so many plans. There's so much that you want to do."

"And I will. Never do tomorrow what you can do today, my mum says, because-"

"Because you never know how long you've got. Martha Jones. All that life." Then with a last breath clone died with her body going limp. The Fighter looked down sadly taking the Master into a hug as he comforted her. Martha grabbed her engagement ring off the clone and slipped back on her own.

Donna shouted over the phone "Doctor, Fighter, Master! Blue switches done, but they've found me." The Fighter quickly grabbed the phone as they all started running towards the teleport.

"Now!" The Doctor yelled zapping the teleport with his sonic. Donna appeared inside the teleport and realized what happened as she ran to them hugging them. "Have I ever told you how much I hate you three?" She glared at them a bit hugging them.

The Doctor tried pulling away from the hug along with the Master "Hold on, hold on. Get off me, get off me. Got to bring the TARDIS down." They both pulled away as Donna kept hugging the Fighter who didn't mind. The Doctor flashed his sonic at the teleport and grinned over at Martha "Right, now. Martha, you coming?"

Martha hurried over to them asking "What about this nuclear launch thing?"

The Doctor told her "Just keep pressing N. We want to keep those missiles on the ground."

Donna looked wide eyed to the clone and back to the Fighter pointing as she pulled away from the hug "There's two of them."

They all started to step into the teleport as the Fighter told her "Yeah, long story. Here we go. The old team, back together. Well, the new team."

Donna yelled "We're not going back on that ship!"

The Doctor shook his head "No, no, no. No. I needed to get the teleport working so that we could get to-" They teleported to Rattigan Academy "Here. The Rattigan Academy, owned by-"

On cue, Luke Rattigan himself pointed a gun at them. "Don't tell anyone what I did. It wasn't my fault, the Sontarans lied to me, they-" The Doctor storms forward towards him taking the gun and tossing it to the side "If I see one more gun..." He muttered as the Master laughed at this. They all walked past Luke to the door.

Donna commented looking at Martha wearing the Doctor's coat "You know, that coat sort of works."

"I feel like a kid in my dad's clothes." Martha muttered blushing a little as the Fighter giggled.

The Fighter commented " Oh well, if you're calling him dad or brother, you're definitely getting over him." The two human girls looked over at her then exchanged looks of surprise.

They began running around the academy as Luke caught up to them watching as the Doctor and Master gathered different pieces of equipment and worked on building a gizmo together. The Doctor explained to Luke "That's why the Sontarans had to stop the missiles. They were holding back. Because caesofine gas is volatile, that's why they had to use you to stop the nuclear attack. Ground to air engagement could spark off the whole thing."

Martha frowned asking "What, like set fire to the atmosphere?"

The Master replied to her "Yeah. They need all the gas intact to breed their clone army. And all the time we had Luke here in his dream factory." He looked to Luke smirking "Planning a little trip, were we?"

Luke replied looking a bit embarrassed "They promised me a new world..."

"You were building equipment, ready to terraform El Mondo Luko so that humans could live there and breathe the air with this." The Doctor and Master finished building the device stepping back as they switched it on "An atmospheric converter."

Donna gasped looking out to the city "That's London. You can't even see it. My family's in there."

The Master commented as him and the Doctor adjusted the controls "If I can get this on the right setting."

Martha frowned at them while keeping a careful eye on the Master "Hold on. You said the atmosphere would ignite."

The Doctor nodded "Yeah, I did, didn't I?" Both Time Lords exchanged smiles and slammed their hands down on the button activating it. A bolt of flame shot from the device up into the sky hitting the atmosphere igniting it. The Doctor chanted "Please, please, please, please, please, please, please."

They stared up at the sky as the burning gas above them cleared revealing the beautiful blue sky.

Luke cried happily "They're geniuses!" Donna started laughing happily.

The Fighter ran into the middle of her childhood friends putting her arms around them as she grinned happily "Yep, that's my boys!" They both exchanged grins to her.

Martha grinned happily "Just brilliant."

The Fighter let go of them as the Doctor ran to the device picking it up "Now we're in trouble." They started running back towards the house and back into Luke's room as the Time Lords and Lady stopped at the teleport. The Doctor then turned to everyone "Right. So, Donna, thank you for everything. Martha, you too. Oh, so many times. Luke, do something clever with your life." He looked to the Master "Master, it's been a blast stopping you at every turn." He then looked to the Fighter "And you Fighter, you already know." The Master looked back and forth between the Doctor curiously as the Fighter nodded.

Donna commented sadly "You're saying goodbye."

The Doctor commented "Sontarans are never defeated. They'll be getting ready for war. And, well, you know, The Master and I recalibrated this for Sontaran air, so-"

"You're going to ignite them." Martha blinked shocked.

"You'll kill yourself." Donna said shocked.

"Just send that thing up on it's own. I don't know. Put it on a delay." Martha suggested.

"I can't."

"Why not?"

"I've got to give them a choice."

The Fighter walked up to him slowly as she slapped the Doctor "Oi! What was that for?" He quickly commented as she grabbed his face holding it to look her directly in the eyes. He looked at her shocked to see tears silently falling from her eyes as she gave a chuckle and smile "You never seem to learn as well you idiot! You told me to lean on others, you should really follow your own advice. We're not letting you do this alone." She grabbed his hand taking it in hers as she looked over to the Master "We're childhood friends, and if one of us goes down, then we all go down together, right?"

The Master looked to her with a blank stare at first thinking then he walked up to her taking her into a kiss. She looked at him shocked excepting for him to yell at her again "I love you my Tiger." He gently stroked her cheek as he took her hand in his and nodded looking to the Doctor as well "You're right. We're childhood friends and we all go down together."

The three friends began walking into the teleport hand in hand as the Doctor and Master exchanged quick looks nodding to each other. "I'm sorry my Tiger." The Master quickly let go of the Fighter's hand and before she could realize, he went behind her knocking her unconscious as she fell limp in his arms.

Martha gasped glaring at him "What did you do to her?"

"She's way too stubborn to listen and wouldn't back down from this, so we did the only thing we could do." The Doctor commented as the Master laid her in front of the two girls.

"When she wakes up, she will be mad with you two." Donna reminded them bending down to look at her Time Lady friend.

The Master smirked as he moved the Fighter's hair away from her face "I know and I'm ok with that. I just want her safe but no matter what I will always be by her side and have her back." He kissed her forehead before going back to join the Doctor in the teleport.

A few minutes after, Luke runs over to the teleport adjusting the wires as Martha asks him "What are you doing?"

Luke grinned "Something Clever." He then teleported away.

The Fighter began to wake slowly, opening her eyes and processing everything as she observed her surroundings seeing a painted Gallifrey around her. She saw it's redish orange sky, the painted red grass at the bottom, the silver trees painted and hanging around her as the branch leaves dangled above her. She slowly but her hand out to touch them but they felt different then she remembered.

It almost felt...fake. It seemed to remind her of her room on the TARDIS. She then saw two figures looking down at her where she laid. She looked at them curiously as they appeared to be her childhood friends. "Theta? Koschei? Are we dead?" She asked them groggy.

The Doctor looked to the Master with a worried look "I think you might've hit her a bit to hard."

The Master bent down to her side grabbing her hands "I'm sorry Tiger." He looked to the Doctor "She will be fine, right?"

The Doctor nodded as she looked to them confused "Yes, it will take her a while to adjust but she will be back to normal."

She shook her head and looked around the room "Are we back home? B-but how is that possible?"

She closed her eyes as a bright light blinded her then opened them to finally see clearly around the room. They weren't back on Gallifrey, they were back on the TARDIS in her room. She could see everything clearly now as she slowly sat up.

The Doctor and Master held a hand out for her helping her up "Slowly, slowly."

She looked to them blankly as she rubbed her eyes. Then suddenly she realized what happened as her hands formed into fists. The Doctor and Master back away from her quickly jumping up seeing this "Uh oh, she's finally realized what we did."

She growled at them "YOU TWO! How dare you!" She crossed her arms pouting and looking away from them.

"You know we wouldn't have let you do it anyway." The Master told her as she turned to them smiling as he was right.

"I know. You guys do it to protect me because you love me and care, I get it." She stood up walking towards them. "But I'm a big girl and can take care of myself, though..." She looked to the Doctor smiling "I should learn to lean on you guys sometimes as you guys should do the same to me." She took their hands "We're childhood friends, best buds, we tell each other almost everything. We should start telling each other everything now."

"Everything?" They both asked her.

She nodded grinning with a devious look behind her eyes "Starting with this." She slapped them "Ever do that again and I'll kill you both myself!" They looked to her shocked as all three of them then laughed. She then ran into the Master's arms as he hugged her back.

She then looked at the Doctor commenting "I'm having a weird craving for chocolate cake right now. Do we have some?"

He looked at her with a raised eyebrow laughing a little "I'm not sure."

"I'll go check." She said as she started to walk out of her room pulling the Master by his hand along with her.

The Doctor walked into the console room as Donna and Martha were chatting. They turned to look at him smiling. "You appear to be alive and in fine shape. What about the Master?" Donna asked smiling at him.

The Doctor replied as he gave a curious look thinking "Oh, the Fighter suddenly wanted cake so she took him along with her to go find some in the kitchen."

The girls nodded "Ah." Donna turned to Martha "So, you going to come with us? We're not exactly short of space."

Martha smiled slightly as she looked around the console room "Oh, I have missed all this, but, you know. I'm good here, back at home. And I'm better for having been away. Besides, someone needs me. Never mind the universe, I've got a great big world of my own now."

Suddenly the TARDIS door shut on it's own as the time rotor activated with the TARDIS jolting.

The Doctor looked around curious "What? What?"

Martha shouted at him "Doctor, don't you dare!"

The Fighter and Master then ran into the room. "What did you do this time Doctor?" The Master asked.

The Doctor shook his head "No, no, no. I didn't touch anything. We're in flight. It's not me."

"Where are we going?" Donna asked.

"I don't know. It's out of control!"

"Doctor, just listen to me. You take me home. Take me home right now!" Martha yelled as nothing could be done. The TARDIS was flying through the Time Vortex jolting and heading towards an unknown, mysterious place.

So, what did you guys think? :D Pretty cool! The Fighter and Master got reunited thanks to a mysterious old man and blonde waitress named Rose (You all know who it is.) XD The Mysterious wise old man (Who if you guessed right, is a Time Lord. And no, It's not the Doctor or Master.) belongs to my good friend Lord Creator who let me borrow him for this chapter. Special thanks! Hopefully I wrote him out well.

I also put a list of the Fighter's different regenerations (Personality, Face claims, background ETC. ) on my profile page. Take a look if you want! :D

Next Chapter follows the episode "The Doctor's Daughter." See ya in the next chapter everyone! Thanks!
