IMPORTANT,PLEASE READ: How the Master is portrayed in my story is an evil man trying to get on the right path but it will be hard for him because he will always be evil (It's just how the Master is and the thing we love about him.) In my story I'm saying there is a possibility he can be good but I'm not going to make him entirely good, he will have his evil moments...I just wanted to make that clear.
Also, I know it gets kind of old and boring reading chapters on the T.V stories (Especially if you've seen them 50000 times and know them by heart) so I'm cutting out the rest of the T.V stories, for now as this was part of my story anyway. Now there will be a major Time Skip between here and the next T.V story I will get back to writing (Which for sure will be The End Of Time! I'm writing that Chapter out for sure! I have already had everything planned out for that sweetie!)
In this chapter and the next ones you will (And hopefully as you've seen in the last chapter The Time Lord Children) The Master still has the murderous rage in him. Also, who is that black haired woman calling The Fighter cousin? All will be revealed very soon as the climax keeps building. Also from now on I will be doing the Chapters in parts to make it easier on you readers XD and me since I'm in college and busy.
This Chapter briefly covers the Doctor Who novel "The Dark Path." If you want more detail on it, please message me and I will send you a link to the story itself. Thanks.

Chapter 16: Memories of a Dark Path
Summary: The Doctor and Master are sent back to an old adventure they once had as the Fighter learns the truth about the Master and her cousin. This is what was believed to make the Master turn evil and rule the universe. Who is behind the strings of this? What is their plan in showing the Fighter all this? What will happen between the Fighter and Master? Will it cause the Master to lose what little good he has left?
As promised, The Fighter and Donna were going to go to a spa but first, they The Fighter was going to take Donna on a shopping spree. The Two Time Lords exchanged looks as the two girls talked about what girls normally talk about, girly stuff.
The TARDIS finally landed "Alright, we're here." The Doctor announced looking up to the girls from the console.
The Fighter clapped her hands together and looked at her human friend "Ready for some much needed shopping?"
The red head female nodded "Yes." The Two women looked to the Time Lords.
"We'll be staying here waiting for you two." The Master replied as he waved them away "Shoo! Go! Be girly somewhere else."
"Alright, alright!" Donna replied as the Fighter stuck her tongue out at him in reply.
They opened the door and Donna stepped out as the Fighter stopped. "Ah, I almost forgot the credit card! Let me go get it from my room real quick." Donna nodded as the Fighter started running back to her room, but suddenly, before she could make it, the TARDIS door closed locking Donna outside. The TARDIS began to dematerialize on it's own.
Donna looked to the TARDIS "Oi! Doctor! Fighter! Master!" She tried to open the door but the TARDIS disappeared leaving her there alone as she yelled at thin air. "Get back here right now you three!"
The TARDIS jerked as The Fighter looked toward the door "Oh boy, Donna's gonna be mad at us when we get back to her..."
"What did you do this time?" The Master looked to the Doctor glaring as they both looked to the screen trying to figure out what was happening.
"I didn't do anything. It did it on it's own again!" The Doctor looked to them shocked. "It's like someone is controlling the TARDIS!"
"Are you sure it hasn't had enough of you Doctor? Besides, you don't know how to fly it too well." The Master scoffed at him, reminding him of how many times he failed his TARDIS flying test back in the academy.
The Fighter walked up to the console to join them "Well it is possible for a TARDIS to be controlled by someone else, highly unlikely since a TARDIS is a living thing, but it is possible. I worked on TARDISES a bit after you guys left Gallifrey..."
The TARDIS jerked again as it then suddenly came to a stop. The three of them looked to the screen "So where are we?" The Fighter asked them.
The Doctor and Master looked to the screen shocked recognizing the place. They had been here before, back when the Doctor was only in his second incarnation. The memories of everything, the pain, the betrayal, the genocide of a planet he caused just to save the Fighter's cousin Ailla. He didn't know they were cousins until they talked a while back about it. He didn't tell her everything that happened with Ailla and him, especially after all she told him of what Ailla had done to her.
The Doctor noticed it was hard for the Master to reply so he replied himself "The Master and I have been here before. Way back in our past, it was two hundred years after we left Gallifrey." The Fighter noticed the Master's hands gripping into fists very tight he was causing his hands to bleed a little as his teeth clenched together tight. Whatever had happened here was enough to make The Master beyond pissed as it really got to him.
The Doctor continued talking "I already told you about this when you first started running away with me. About Ailla and him and what happened." They both eyed the Master noticing how bad it was affecting him as they both looked to each other worried.
The Fighter looked confused "But why would the TARDIS send us here? Wouldn't it cause a paradox seeing your old selves with the laws of time and all?"
The Master pounded his fist on the console as he yelled "Screw the laws of time! We're Time Lords and we can mess with them all we like!" He put his hands to his head as the drumbeat in his head got louder and louder. The Fighter felt the ticking clock sound in her head get louder as well but kept fighting to ignore it. She went over to the Master and took hold of hand as the sounds quieted down.
Whatever was going on with the TARDIS, it was also messing with the sounds in their head. The Doctor replied "Yes you're right as you were before. But also as Time Lords, it is our duty to keep things balanced."
"Now the real question is, who's controlling the TARDIS? And again, why send us here?" The Fighter asked as the Master kept a tight grip on her hand, not wanting to let go.
The Master replied being able to think again "Don't you mean WHO's controlling the TARDIS? Obviously it has to be someone especially with the way it made the sounds in our head react."
"Someone brought us back here for a reason. Let's go find out why!" The Doctor began walking to the door as the Fighter began running after him.
Before she could and before the Doctor could walk out the door, the Master yelled "Stop!" He kept a tight grip on her hand.
She looked at him confused "What is it Koschei?" He jumped a little at her calling him that. "The Doctor has already told me all that happened. There's nothing that I don't already know." Oh boy was she wrong. It was the stuff in between, the secret private stuff that happened between him and Ailla that she didn't know about.
He let go of her hand as they all walked out the door appearing into another TARDIS with it's console. "Not again. A TARDIS in another TARDIS." The Doctor mumbled as the Fighter looked confused.
"This is my TARDIS...I mean, was my TARDIS a long time ago." The Master told them as he looked around. He really did miss his TARDIS.
Suddenly footsteps and voices were heard approaching them "Come on, we have got to hide!" The Doctor told them as suddenly a younger Master and a blonde girl by him walked through all of them not noticing a thing.
The three childhood friends exchanged looks with each other "They walked right through us without even noticing us. What's going on Doctor?" The Fighter asked as the Master was looking to his younger self and the blonde girl.
"Well, whatever sent us here must be showing us a projection of past events. In other words, we don't exist right now, we're like ghosts in this time except for our younger selves of course. All it wants it to show us this. Why? We already know what happens." The Doctor kept pondering.
"Ailla!" The Younger Master called out to the blonde girl.
"Yes Koschei?" Ailla replies looking at him smirking. Suddenly they both kiss as the Fighter looks to them shocked. Koschei continues talking "We are to arrive on the ship Piri Reis in a little bit. Are you ready my dear?"
Ailla nods "Yes my dear."
The Doctor and Master look to the Fighter to still see her looking shocked. She gave out a nervous laugh "Well I wasn't expecting that. I didn't know you two were that close and friendly."
Koschei's TARDIS landed as him and Ailla walked out of it. The Doctor motioned for them "Let's follow!"
The three of them walked through the TARDIS door to see Koschei hypnotising a few crew members. "My companion Ailla and I have been aboard this ship all along spending most of the journey in our cabin. We have been studying on the Darkheart situation."
A few of the crewmen accept it as a few seem to rationalize not seeing them before. Koschei continues talking "Ah, but Ailla here is an expert on Imperial customs. Let her accompany the diplomatic party to the planet so we can meet your leaders."
Koschei whispers to Ailla "Meet me in Gothard's office once you can slip away. I'll take my TARDIS to the planet." Ailla nodded back giving him a kiss. The Fighter quickly looked away shocked by it still.
"I still don't get why they want to show us this?" The Fighter commented. "What's the point?"
"Maybe it's a test?" The Doctor pondered again.
The Master laughed "A test? Don't be silly Doctor! I agree with Missy, I don't see the point here besides rubbing the past back in my face."
Suddenly the surrounding around them began to change as they saw Ailla slipping away from the function to go meet Koschei in his TARDIS as promised. They began to break into Gothard's office as Gothard arrives. Koschei tries hypnotising him but he is able to resist. "What, what are you doing in here? Spies!" Gothard begins attacking Koschei as he kills Gothard in self defense.
"You killed a man as well!" The Doctor yells to the Master.
"It was in self defense! He was attacking me, it was the only way!" The Master tried defending himself. "It was kill or be killed. That's how it is."
The Surroundings around them began to change again as it shows the Doctor's companion, Victoria, meeting Ailla. Ailla takes Victoria to Koschei's TARDIS and starts explaining to her "Koschei and I have been traveling together ever since he saved my life in the 28th century. Though I'm human and he's a Time Lord, I love him and am grateful for it."
The Surroundings than showed Victoria telling the Doctor all of what Ailla told her. The Second Doctor spoke "He is a former friend of mine and I fear... he is hunting me with the intention of returning me to our own people." Adjudicators than appear to arrest them as the Doctor, Victoria and Jamie all hide in Koschei's TARDIS where Ailla still is.
The Second Doctor and Ailla than compare notes. "So we we're both attracted to this planet by the time distortion. The disturbances seem to be getting worse." The Doctor said looking to the console screen on Koschei's TARDIS.
"Well this is something I didn't know about." The Master said looking to the Doctor glaring. "You all hid away in my TARDIS and sat having tea and chatting away like buddies with her!"
"I didn't know she was a Time Lady. She acted like a human very well, it was hard to tell." The Doctor replied shrugging.
"It was part of her job!" The Master rolled his eyes "How could I have been so stupid."
The Fighter began to walk off as the two of them bickered on. The surroundings around her began to change as she walked in on something she would have never imagined to see between The Master and her cousin. They were a lot closer than she thought, more than just kisses. The Master didn't mention this part to her about Ailla and his relationship.
She thought to herself "Don't let it get to you. It's all in the past. He didn't know, he didn't know." She couldn't seem to take her eyes away from the scene as she felt tears fall from her eyes at the words he seemed to say to Ailla. It was the same words he would say to her now.
"Missy! Missy, where are-" The Doctor called out to her as he walked in seeing the scene she was seeing. "Whoa!" His eyes widened and he looked away.
The Master than walked in "What is it?" His face suddenly went blank as he realized the Fighter saw the one thing he didn't want her to see, what he didn't want her to know about her cousin and him. "I-"
The Fighter sniffed and wiped her tears as she kept her back to him and the Doctor. She began laughing a bit "So this must be the reason we were sent here. This is the thing I didn't know, what you didn't want me to see." She laughed a little again as she wiped her tears. Her hearts ached as she turned around giving a little smile "You slept with my cousin! You basically had a joy ride with her and let me guess, it wasn't the first time?"
She looked down shaking her head "It's just like all over again with him! You two can't seem to get enough joy out of ripping my hearts out and making me reduce to tears for your sick entertainment, can you? You guys have to sleep with other women and repeat the same words you say to them to me!"
"But I-" The Master tried but was interrupted by the Fighter.
She yelled at him sobbing "NO! I'm done hearing it! I had to deal with hearing the "But I love you!", "It won't happen again!", "I'm sorry." Nonsense! I had to deal with that for centuries with the Joker and it tore me apart. You saw, the Doctor knows. It's thanks to the Doctor and traveling with him that I'm still here today alive and well. He helped fix my broken hearts and I refuse to go through another heartbreak again."
They didn't notice that the scene around them faded out. The Fighter gave the Master a forced smile "I know, this is all in the past. I know that, but I can't seem to accept this fact right now especially after all she has or will do to you soon. Even what she has done to me. She's evil..."
The Master glared at her "You seem to forget I'm evil as well! I try to do good, but no matter how much I try to go on the right path, I will always be on the dark path! I will always be evil!"
A scene of Koschei accidentally killing Ailla plays around them. Koschei mourns over her as he tells Victoria he has a plan to bring her back to him. The Doctor with Ailla's dead body notices her regenerating. "I will use the Darkheart to bring Ailla back first since it is capable of changing history without paradox." Koschei says. He then persuades Terell to use the Darkheart to destory the planet Terileptus to bring Ailla back as he watches.
Koschei than goes back to his TARDIS detecting a different life form. A different looking Ailla. "Ailla?" He looks to her shocked.
"I am an agent sent from the high council to keep an eye on you. They feared you were unstable and it appears to be true. I am a Time Lady and I went uncover acting a human to observe you in secret." Ailla looked to his emotionless now, different from the usual bright girl he loved.
He looked to the one girl he loved with heartbreak as something dark stirred up in him. The pain and betrayal was too much as He began laughing uncontrollably, like a madman. His people, his own people betraying him. It was just like what his own father would do to him. No one could be trusted, no one! The universe would do nothing but hurt him, it wasn't safe unless...unless he ruled it himself. Everyone under his rule, they would all look up to him and never betray him again. Maybe he should go by his title name he chose after all instead of his childhood name.
His title name just proved to him something he should have realized sooner, he was his one and only Master. He could only depend on himself as others would betray and hurt him. "You are under arrest along with the Doctor Koschei."
A darkness surrounded him and scared the emotionless Ailla to her core as it did to the Fighter "I am...THE MASTER!" That was then when the Fighter realized he was right, he would always be evil and there was no changing that. No matter how many good things he tried to do, being evil will always be a part of him.
They were all suddenly back in their own TARDIS as it demateralized back to where Donna was pounding on the door. The Fighter looked to the Master in realization. All these years traveling with the Doctor, knowing the Master was evil and stopping his plans at every turn and yet this realization seemed to hit her just now. Did she actually force herself to ignore that fact? Did she want to believe that if he did good things and saved the universe he would suddenly be a good guy completely? Yes. Yes she did.
"Oh my Gallifrey!" She said putting her hand to her mouth covering it as tears fell from her eyes. She loved him, that was true. He was evil, there was no changing that. She knew he was evil, and yet it shocked her to the core. Was it because she loved him not only because she knew he could be good but also because he was evil? That's what got to her the most, she loved him for being evil.
The Doctor put a hand on her shoulder to help comfort her as she looked up at him. She then looked over at the Master glaring at her. "I want to take over the universe! Yes, you may be able to stop me but that is something you can not change! You should know this already, it shouldn't be this shocking to you sweetheart." He gave a bitter tone to her at the sweetheart part. "But I do know one thing, NEVER accuse me of hurting you like the Joker hurt you. I would never do something low like that to you, I'm much better than him."
He held out his arms open for her to run into "You're the only person crazy enough to love someone like me. The sounds that we share in our head, how they stop when we touch seem to be a sign of that. We are meant to be. Now come here, I forgive you."
She walked over to him slowly but stopped looking him in the eyes. "I am sorry for that but you should know, I don't like being controlled. That's why you haven't been able to hypnotize me all these years. I'm good at fighting over it, it's what I do. Though the feelings I have for you in my hearts, is one that is hard to fight." She gave him a hug as the Doctor looked at his friends awkwardly than ran to the door remembering Donna was still outside pounding.
He opened the door only to be slapped by Donna "Oi! What was that for?" The Doctor cried out to the mad read head.
"That was for leaving me behind!" She replied walking into the TARDIS as she saw the Master and Fighter hugging. "So what did I miss?"
"Oh nothing much. Just something long behind us." The Fighter replied smiling.
The Doctor then put handcuffs on the Master as Donna looked to him shocked shaking her head "I don't wanna know..."
"No, it's not what you think." The Doctor shook his head trying to explain "He's..."
"Don't wanna know!" Donna repeated again.
The Master smirked at the Doctor being all flustered by it. The Fighter locked the other hand cuff on the Doctor's wrist. The Doctor and Master looked to her shocked "Fighter, what are you doing?"
She smiled at them "Just keeping you two together." She turned to Donna "You know ever since we were little I've always wanted these two to kiss."
Donna laughed as the Master and Doctor exchanged shocked looks. "What?!"
The Fighter continued "Oh yes!"
"No!" They both shouted. The Master looked up to her "You're evil!" He then realized what he said.
The Fighter smirked "But so are you!" She stuck her tongue out at them both as she ran to her room.
Donna looked to the both of them "She keeps things lively for you two."
The Master and Doctor smiled remembering all the fun times they had with the Fighter when they were back at the academy.
Later on once they got free of the handcuffs thanks to Donna, the Master walked to the Fighter's room with a plan in mind.
He knocked on the door "Come in!" The Fighter replied.
He walked into her room as she sat on the bed reading. "Oh you broke free. Did Donna help you two?"
"Yep." He nodded. "There's something I've been meaning to ask you and I believe it is the right thing to ask after everything today."
He went to her ear and whispered his true name. She gasped shocked by it, she what he was doing. She knew the signs very well since she was married before. She then whispered her true name into his ear. He then put a ring on her finger, the ring had a oak tree on it, the symbol of his family house Oakdown.
"You are mine and only mine forever." He told her as she blushed at him. He was possessive, he was evil but yet she could see the good in him and she loved him for everything he was evil and all. He was hurt, she was hurt, their past hurt them but as long as they were together, they could say goodbye to the pain of the past.
This chapter was short but important to the story. It will be explained later on! :) I think we all know who was pulling the strings in this chapter. So let me know what you think? Thanks :)
