[The Ark]

Abby tried everything to save Thelonious, but she couldn't. She pronounced time of death, and moved on. That was a week ago. Now chaos was fully erupted, and Marcus Kane was trying to control things.

"We need to get the drop ship ready." Kane said looking around at the rest of the members on the council.

"It's true, our life support will fully fail by the end of the week." Abby said. "We don't have Jaha anymore to push this along, so we need to be strong and united, so the people stop panicking."

Kane looked at Abby. "If you had saved Jaha, then we wouldn't-"

"Jaha started the panic Kane," one council member stood. "Jaha kept the failing life support from the people, and he was exposed by his own son. Damon Salvatore did what every one of the people were thinking."

"Those are treasonous words Cahill." Kane said, pointing a finger.

"What are you going to do, float me?" Cahill said. "Enough is enough. There are 2600 of us, and the drop ships can only hold 600 each. We have three drop ships. That means 800 people are going to left behind."

"We can't do that." Abby said.

Kane looked at Abby now. "I suppose you think we should just let all 2600 die up here in space then. Jaha already culled one section of the Ark, we can- "

"Jaha killed 1200 people without giving them much choice since no one volunteered." Abby exclaimed. "You think these people are going to volunteer for you? For us? No. There has to be another way."

There was silence. "The Ark is made up of different stations. Unity Day." Cahill said.

Abby looked at Cahill. "You're right. The stations were launched into space. The very rockets that keep us in orbit…we could use those to send us all to the ground."

Kane frowned. "Are you saying we take the Ark to the ground?"

"That's exactly what I'm saying." Abby said. "No lives lost."

"Okay. Can we get this done before the end of the week?" Kane asked, looking back at Cahill.

Cahill seemed to be thinking. "Damon isn't here anymore. He's the chief engineer. He would have a better calculation…but yes, but it will be close."

"Get working on it. Now." Kane said and looked to Abby. "If we succeed…"

"Then we can get to the children. Make sure they're all safe. It's been over a month Marcus." She murmured.

Kane nodded. "Their vitals have been strong. There haven't been anymore deaths. Everything is fine."

"I hope so." Abby murmured.

[Lincoln's Hut]

The hike to Lincoln's hut was a four-hour hike, which wasn't so bad if you hadn't already hiked through the woods and exerted yourself a lot. Bella fought herself to keep up, and she did, but not without concerning Finn.

Finn looked around the hut that was lit dimly with candles. "There's still radiation in the air, how did you guys still manage to survive?"

"The strongest survived, adapted, and then as the generations progressed, the stronger we got. We're immune to the radiation by now." Lincoln explained. He rummaged through some stuff, taking a chest and setting it on the ground and then put vials and needles in the box. He worked quickly, so they could get back before it got too dark. "Alright. This is it. I've included some other medicines that might be helpful. I can't stay too long. If I am gone another night, they will notice."

"I understand." Bella said and then the three of them started back towards the camp.

There was a gong sound in the air, and Lincoln stopped. "Oh no."

"What?"

"We need to run fast." Lincoln said and then a green fog started filling the woods. "Don't let the fog touch you." He yelled and the three ran.

Bella's muscles screamed at her as she sprinted through the woods, her lungs burning with every stride, but they had to outrun the fog. They had to get somewhere safe, where the fog couldn't reach them. Finn tripped, and Bella stopped, reaching back for him, pulling him up, but the fog touched Finn's leg, and he screamed out in pain, but Bella kept pulling him along.

"Bella, go! I can't slow you down. Get the medicine to the camp." Finn said, as the fog crept closer to them.

"No, I'm not leaving you behind."

"We'll both die then." Finn said and then pushed away from Bella. "Go!"

"Finn!" She yelled but he let the fog wrap around him. His screams filled her ears, and her eyes went wide. Lincoln grabbed her arm and she stumbled with him, Finn's screams still ringing in her ears as she ran with Lincoln. She could hear the roar of her heartbeat in her own ears, nearly deafening as she ran for her life.

Lincoln reached down and pulled at something on the ground, a hatch of some sort and he guided her in and then dropped down in it and pulled the lid down tight. They were both panting hard as they sat on the floor of what looked like some sort of small shelter in the ground.

Lincoln lit the candle that was on the wall, and sat back down, taking in some deep breaths.

"What…was that?" Bella finally managed.

"We don't know. We just know that the gong sounds and that fog rolls in. It burns your skin off, and if you breathe it in, your lungs burn and melt." Lincoln explained. "Are you okay?"

Bella nodded. "I didn't get touched…. Finn."

"I'm sorry." Lincoln murmured. "I wish I- "

"No…it's not your fault."

Lincoln was quiet a few moments. "The fog stays for a while. We won't make it back to camp tonight."

Bella sighed. "Will the others be okay without the medicine?"

"Maybe. Ty was the sickest, I'm afraid we might lose him, but the others, since they weren't showing symptoms, should be okay for the night. If Ty is strong, he can fight the pox naturally."

"He is strong. He's one of the strongest fighters."

"Good." Lincoln said with a nod and leaned his head back against the wall. He winced a little, the fog had grazed him a little.

Bella looked at him, seeing the pain on his face. "What's wrong?"

"Just a graze with the fog." Lincoln said.

"Let me look." Bella said and Lincoln leaned forward, and Bella pulled his shirt off, looking at his back shoulder. "Looks pretty bad. Do you have anything for this?"

Lincoln nodded. "In my satchel. A cooling salve. Grey tin."

Bella looked in Lincoln's satchel, getting the salve and opening it and carefully putting it over the burn. Lincoln sighed, relief flooding him. "Better?"

"Yes, thank you." Lincoln said, looking at her. "Your shoulder is bleeding." He said with a frown.

Bella looked at her shirt. "Oh, I must have pulled the stitches when I tried to save Finn." She murmured.

"Here, your turn." Lincoln said. "I'll fix it."

Bella nodded, and pulled her shirt off, for him to look at it. His hands were warm against her skin, as he studied her shoulder. They were close together, and she could feel heat radiating from him.

"I have some sutures I can take the time to do that now." Lincoln said, looking at her, their faces close together.

Bella stared at him a moment, his dark eyes seemed tired, but he was still trying his hardest to help them. "Thank you." She murmured.

Lincoln grabbed his satchel and grabbed what he needed, putting a cream over the wound, that seemed to numb the area, and he started fixing the sutures. They were quiet as he did this, both of them just too exhausted to make conversation. "There." He murmured.

Bella looked at her shoulder, nodding her thanks.

"Did you always have this?" Lincoln asked, his hand going to her side, seeing the bruise over her ribs.

"Oh, yeah. Sparring. It doesn't really hurt, I forgot it was there." Bella said.

Lincoln nodded. "It's a bad bruise. You must have gotten hit hard."

"Yeah, with a branch fashioned like a staff." Bella said.

"You are a fierce warrior. Do they train warriors in the sky?"

Bella sighed. "No. I spent 12 years in prison up there." She said.

"Prison? You aren't that old. You can't be no older than 19."

"18. I was put in the skybox when my father was floated in space for treason. Instead of nurturing a 6-year-old, they put me in prison for my father's crimes since anyone under 18 can't be floated." Bella said.

"That's horrible." Lincoln murmured.

Bella nodded. "It is. That's who all my people are now. All of us. Bellamy, Jazz…Clarke. We were all in the skybox. They sent 100 of us down here to see if it was livable. They were essentially sacrificing us."

"Ana trains warriors from the age of 9. I've seen children go into war, and get killed. It's a violent way of life. I'm tired of seeing things end that way." Lincoln said with a sigh.

Bella saw the sadness in Lincoln's eyes. "Seems like Earth is repeating it's mistakes 97 years ago."

"Seems that way." Lincoln said. "You should sleep. Rest."

"You should too. Are we locked in here?"

Lincoln nodded.

"Then we should both rest. How far to camp is it from here?"

"We ran away from the camp, so we backtracked. It will take us probably 6 hours." Lincoln admitted.

Bella sighed. "Of course." She looked at her watch and then wiped the sweat from her face. "It's hot in here."

"Well, there's not a lot of ventilation. Just that fan." Lincoln said pointing up. "We can breathe, just it gets stuffy."

"Does it ever get cold here?"

"Rarely." Lincoln said, and then shifted taking the pack and handing it to Bella. "For a pillow."

"Oh." Bella shifted next to Lincoln. There wasn't a lot of space in the shelter, so when she shifted, she brushed against him. She got situated, laying her head down on the pack. Lincoln used his arm as a pillow, closing his eyes. She stared at him for a few moments before closing her eyes and letting the exhaustion rush over her.

[The Next Day]

Bella moved, sliding her legs, and shifting. She was somehow against Lincoln now, her head laying against his bare chest. His breaths were even, slow, indicating he was still sleeping. His arm was draped over her, and when she shifted again, it woke him up. He lifted his arm, realizing that he was holding her.

"I'm sorry." Lincoln apologized.

"Not a problem." Bella said and they sat up. Her shoulder was a little stiff and she moved it a little.

Lincoln reached over, looking at the stitches and nodded. "Looks good. I'll put more salve on it for the pain, and wrap it before we get moving." He said and looked around for his satchel, finding it and taking out the salve, and bandages.

"Thank you." Bella said, still trying to wake up a little.

Lincoln nodded, rubbing the salve over the stitches, and then wrapping her shoulder carefully.

"You're different from them." Bella murmured.

"What do you mean?"

"The other grounders that I have met…they aren't this nice."

Lincoln nodded. "I am the medicine man. I don't like to inflict pain. I heal."

"Even if we're supposed to be your enemy?"

"I don't believe that you are. Bella, you came from the sky. You escaped a war to survive. The fact that you came down now to try and survive isn't wrong. This land is big enough for all of us. It's foolish to think that it isn't." Lincoln said.

Bella nodded. "You never stopped to save any of my other people before."

Lincoln was quiet a moment. "Something about you was different."

"I can't be that much different. I'm from the sky, like the rest."

"You are a warrior. Strong."

"That doesn't make sense. Many of us are warriors."

"None of them are as beautiful as you." Lincoln finally said, looking at her before glancing away, gathering his satchel and the bag with the chest in it for the medicines.

Bella frowned. "I look like shit. Nothing about how I look right now can be appealing."

Lincoln turned to her. "You're wrong." He said. "I'm not the only one that notices your beauty. Bellamy does too."

"Bellamy is my partner in all this. He leads with me. We can't- "

"So, him kissing you in front of the entire camp, laying claim to you. That was just him leading?"

Bella started to say something. "It's complicated."

Lincoln smiled a little. "I suspect that there is more than it seems."

"There is more to you than it seems." Bella said back.

Lincoln paused, looking at her. "Your spirit Bella. Regardless of appearances, it's your spirit that is special." He said and then started to turn away, but Bella stopped him. He looked back at her, her blue eyes boring into his, and then he leaned forward, his mouth covering hers.

Something snapped in Bella, because when he went to draw back, she reached for him again, pulling him back to her, her mouth dominating his. Before she could think her hands was at his pants, pulling at them to free him, his hands going to her hips, pulling at her pants until he had access to her. She felt his erection thrust inside her and she gasped against his lips, and moaned as he plunged hard and fast, jolting her with every thrust, until he was spilling over at the same time she was. It was quick, and hard, but pleasure had built so fast for both of them. They pulled their pants on in silence, and for Bella she found her shirt and pulled it back on carefully because of her shoulder.

Lincoln looked over at her as she situated herself. "I'm sorry."

"Why?"

"I did not plan to- "

"It's fine." Bella said with a small smile. "Let's get going. Get the medicine back to the others." She said and then reached up, and spun the hatch and opened the door, and looked around carefully. "Looks clear."

Lincoln nodded, and then boosted her up out of the hatch and then he pulled himself up effortlessly. He shut the hatch and looked around. "Come, camp is this way." He said and Bella followed him through the woods.

[6 hours later]

Camp was just up ahead. Bella was tired from the hike, but she kept pressing herself forward. She heard a sound behind her, and Lincoln and she spun, catching movement in the trees. Then she heard the whirl of an arrow. "Lincoln!" She shouted and pushed him, knocking him out of the way as the arrow hit her already hurt shoulder.

Lincoln caught Bella as she stumbled, but she straightened, firing into the trees with her weapon, hearing the pained cry of whoever she hit. "Come on, let's move."

Bella groaned, turning, and running with Lincoln towards the gates of the camp.

The gates were already opening because Jazz heard Bella yell.

Once in the gates, they started shutting them behind Lincoln and Bella.

Lincoln dropped his bag and turned Bella to face him. "Why did you do that?"

"I don't fucking know." Bella said. "This hurts. Get it the fuck out of my shoulder."

"Bella!" Bellamy and Damon came running, Raven with them.

"You are a stupid girl." Lincoln said. "I could have taken the arrow."

"Lincoln. I didn't kill them. They know you're here." Bella said, looking at him with a serious stare.

Lincoln pursed his lips. "I don't care." He said and then surveyed the arrow more. He took his knife from his hip and carefully cut around the arrow, and Bella grit her teeth. "I'm sorry." He murmured. "It's in deep." He got the arrow out, and then he tore his shirt off, pushing it to the wound to stop the bleeding.

Bella felt the throb of sharp pain in her shoulder, but she pushed through it. She reached up, patting Lincoln's face. "Thanks. Now go cure the others." She said.

Lincoln frowned, looking at her. "Bella…"

"Damon can patch me up. Go give the medicine to the others. I'll be okay." Bella said, and Lincoln hesitated a moment before picking up his bag and going towards quarantine.

"What happened?" Bellamy asked as they walked towards the drop ship.

"Poison fog is what happened. There was this gong sound, and then the fog rolled in. Finn…. didn't out run it. Lincoln and I found a hatch, or a in ground shelter, and hid there until daylight. We trekked through 6 hours of woods, only to get shot at our gate." Bella said, blowing out a breath. She sat down, and Damon grabbed medical supplies to clean the wound. It was right next to her other sutures that looked fresh, which meant Lincoln had stitched her up again.

Bellamy frowned. "They were waiting for you to return to the gate then?"

"I guess so. I shot at them. I hit them, but I don't think I killed them. They now know that Lincoln is helping us." Bella said, looking up at Bellamy.

Bellamy sighed. "Okay. So, what are the odds they won't try to attack us full on again."

"I don't know. Lincoln said that Ana is a ruthless leader. It's likely she'll try to wipe us out when we're weakest." Bella said and winced when Damon put the three sutures in the wound to close it up.

Lincoln returned to the drop ship. "It's done. They've been given the medicine; everyone should take a vaccine dose to prevent the pox. You need antidote." He said and crouched down in front of her, giving her the antidote for the arrow.

Bella took it, and then frowned, turned Lincoln to the side. "You need to put more salve on that burn." She said, looking at his shoulder.

Lincoln nodded. "I will." He said and stood.

"I'll get you a shirt." Bellamy said, going towards his bunk and getting one of the shirts that was extra in the supplies they had, and tossed it to Lincoln. Lincoln caught it and pulled it on. It was a little tighter across his chest, but it would be okay for now.

Damon finished wrapping her shoulder. "Okay, no more arrows to the shoulder." He said and kissed the top of her head. "I'll go tell Stef you're okay." He said and then ruffled her hair some and then walked away.

Bellamy went over to her. "Hey. Go lay down, I'll help make sure everyone gets a dose of the vaccine for the pox."

Bella sighed. "Okay. Don't let me sleep long please."

"I won't. I'll wake your ass up in three hours. Promise." Bellamy offered a smile.

Bella nodded, and got up, with Bellamy's help and he got her situated in the bunk before going to Lincoln.

"Do you have enough for all of us?"

Lincoln nodded. "Should be plenty. I grabbed other medicines that might be needed. I thought I would be going back to my village tonight, but it seems like I can't."

"We'll get you a bunk made up here. We appreciate all that you've done to help." Bellamy said and Lincoln nodded, and they went to work making sure everyone took the vaccine to prevent a pox outbreak.
