"Callie, you're walking first. Come on before you are late." That was all Callie could hear as she was quite literally pulled from her hotel room.

15 months earlier

11/02/2019

Callie walked through the Women's Center with a huge smile on her face. When Arizona told her that she'd be moving to New York with Sofia, she never imagined Arizona not working in a hospital. She was happy that Arizona was doing what she loved in her own way, but something within Callie yearned for Arizona to take a position at the hospital she was at. Something inside of Callie WANTED to be able to see Arizona every day. It was a feeling she couldn't explain but it was there.

Callie's feet stopped in front of the door, which was her destination. She took a deep breath and said:

"It's now or never. The worst she can say is 'no'." With another deep breath, she pushed the door open to find the very person she was looking for at their desk.

"Name?" That was all the person asked.

"Dr.Herman..it's Callie. Er, Callie Torres; Arizona's girlfriend."

"Ahh. Calliope, to what do I owe the pleasure?" Herman laughed a little as she said this, knowing Callie would correct her.

"Herman I asked you NOT to call me that. Callie or Torres is fine." Callie replied with a smirk finding this slightly amusing.

"Ok ok, but seriously what can I do for you? I know you aren't pregnant & don't need my medical services."

"No, I'm not pregnant….I actually need your help with something." I chewed my lip nervously before I continued. "Um, I want to ask Arizona to marry me and I have a plan but I need your help to execute it."

Herman stayed silent for a moment then said, "So let me get this straight. Robbins asked you to marry her, then crashed the car almost killing you, then she cheated which made you divorce her, & now 6 years after said divorce you want to ask her to marry you again?"

"Yes?" Callie replied slightly confused by the rundown of the last 10 years of her life.

Herman let out a strong laugh, "Why would I want to help you with this?"

Callie sighed and began to explain herself. "Because Herman our first proposal & marriage were ruined and this time I know who I am and who I can be on my own AND with Arizona, which is why I want to marry her again. Either way, you should still do this because Arizona did save your life at one point."

"Fine, I guess you're right. I'll help you but you two better not get divorced again. Tell me what I have to do."

oh thank god

After Callie ran Herman through her plan and got her input she was practically jumping up and down. Although she had Dr.Herman's help, she still had one more call to make that would make this, ultimately, the best proposal ever.

Callie walked out of the building and got into her car. When she got settled she called the last person she would need to execute her plan.

"Hello? Teddy, I need your help."

It was a bone-chilling day in New York. Arizona had been living here full time for almost 3 years now and she still wasn't used to the extreme weather.

After a long day of teaching/performing, all Arizona wanted to do was drink some warm tea and fall into bed. When she walked into her apartment though, it was apparent that her girlfriend had other plans.

"Hey," Arizona said as she put her bags on the front table & making her way to the couch where Callie was sitting.

"Hey babe, how was your day?" Callie asked with an added kiss.

"Long, tiring, full of surgeries, & did I mention long?"

Callie chuckled, "Well I had something to ask you but it can wait if you want to sleep?"

"You can ask, but I can't promise you that I won't fall asleep."

"Ok well, I was thinking that maybe we could take Sof to Seattle for Christmas break. Take her to the hospital to visit some people, maybe go to Mer's for a few days so she can see Zola?"

Arizona's eyes went slightly big. At that moment she wasn't tired anymore. At that moment she was shocked and a little confused because did Callie just ask to take her and Sofia back to Seattle? Like as a family?

"I'm sorry, what?"

"I know it's a little late and also a little random, but I was thinking we could do it because I have vacation time saved up because I haven't taken time off since you moved here and you….well you work for Herman so it shouldn't be hard to get some time away. It's only a week & if you absolutely have to work you can do a zoom or something an-."

Callie was rambling which wasn't a problem because Arizona loved how cute Callie was when she rambled but she had to stop this. "Calliope take a breath." She watched Callie take a deep breath and continued, "we can go, I was just in shock. I'll talk to Herman about it tomorrow."

"Really?" Callie asked for reassurance.

"Really. Now let's go to bed." With that, she grabbed Callie's hand moved them towards the bedroom for some much-needed sleep.

ARIZONA'S POV

We touched down in Seattle almost 3 days ago. Since then we've visited Meredith & the hospital, took a ferry boat ride, went shopping, and a whole bunch of other things we loved to do when we lived here. Today I have to do one class at Grey Sloan. I was hoping to be completely work free but when Bailey asked me to do a short seminar I just couldn't say no.

Right now Calliope & I are on our way to the hospital slightly early, since Sofia is having a sleepover with Zola.

Taking in Callies amazing side profile as she drives, I can't help but wonder why she has been acting slightly off since we got here. At Meredith's house, she & Callie were whispering off to the side a lot. I don't think they noticed me watching them but it was still a little weird.

Arriving at the hospital, I give Callie a quick kiss before I'm off to set up for my presentation. Walking through the hospital I hear someone yell my name.

"Arizona!" I turned around to see that it was Teddy. As I made my way over she engulfed me in a tight hug.

"Well that was quite a welcome Teds"

"Can you blame me? I haven't seen you in forever. Speaking of that are you doing here?"

"Well, Callie and I wanted to bring Sofia down for Christmas break so she could see you guys."

"That's amazing you'll have to bring her over so I can spoil her." Pointing to the stuff in my hands Teddy said, "What's all that?"

"Oh! I'm doing a presentation thingy for Bailey in about 2 hours so I came to set up & rehearse a little."

"That sounds about right, Arizona Robbins working on vacation." She laughs out. "Well, I gotta run but I will try to make it to see some of your presentation."

"Thanks, Teddy." We part ways and I go put my things in the auditorium. After finding someone from maintenance to hook up my computer to the projector screen and began to go over my notes.

Before I know it the auditorium is packed with people talking and laughing. "Alright, calm down. Let's get started." This is going to be awesome.

"Ok, my name is Dr. Arizona Robbins. I am a Pediatric and Fetal Surgeon. Now, can anybody tell me what Myelomeningocele is?" The whole room went silent. I chuckled then continued, "No? Well, how about Spina Bifida?" With that question, hands began to fly up.

"Great. Myelomeningocele is the long name for Spina Bifida and today you're going to learn the procedure to do it on a fetus."

I smiled as the crowd began to "ooh" and "ahh" thinking they were excited to learn something that requires much skill. But when I turned to change the slide on my computer, I saw pictures of me and Callie flashing across the screen.

"Calliope?" I said in a barely audible whisper. Just then Callie walked out with a microphone in her hand, music started to play, and Callie began to sing.

.

I'd like to say we gave it a try

I'd like to blame it all on life

Maybe we just weren't right, but that's a lie, that's a lie

And we can deny it as much as we want

But in time our feelings will show

'Cause sooner or later

We'll wonder why we gave up

The truth is everyone knows

Almost, almost is never enough

So close to being in love

If I would have known that you wanted me

The way I wanted you

Then maybe we wouldn't be two worlds apart

But right here in each other's arms

And we almost, we almost knew what love was

But almost is never enough

.

Callie stopped singing and the music was still playing but at a lower volume. She walked closer and grabbed my hand.

"Calliope, what's going on?" I said.

"When we first met…well when you first came up to me in Joe's dirty bathroom, neither of us planned on, falling in love, getting married, or having a child. Back then, we didn't know how to love someone. We barely knew who we were as people. Arizona, you and I grew up together. We thought we did everything right and somehow everything went wrong. It was because we lost ourselves, trying so hard to love each other that we somehow forgot to love ourselves first. When you came to New York with Sofia I knew that was my second chance. My second chance to love you and me."

Callie let my hand go and looked at Teddy who was standing behind her. Teddy ran up and handed her a small, black velvet box.

"So Arizona I love you and will always love you. If you would look at the audience." I had honestly forgotten anyone else was there. When I turned around I gasped at what I saw. Everyone in the auditorium was holding up a sign; some blank, some with a letter on it, and it spelled out "Arizona, will you marry me?"

"Calliope" I breathed out turning around to see her down on one knee?

"So Arizona will you marry me?"

"Yes! A thousand times yes!"

She got off her knee and slide the ring on my finger & pulling me in for a passionate kiss. Everyone in the room was cheering and clapping.

"I love you Calliope."

"I love you too."

This was the best Christmas gift I could've ever gotten.

General POV

Later that night, Callie and Arizona were laying in a very large bed that came with the Presidential Suite.

Still slightly catching her breath Arizona said, "Well that was something."

"Something it was," Callie laughed. "Maybe I should propose to you more often."

"Shut up you goof. Speaking of that proposal, how did you manage to do it in 3 days?"

"Well, I'd actually been planning it for almost 2 months."

"YOU WHAT?" Arizona practically screamed.

"Yeah, I asked Herman to give you a week off to come here, then called Teddy to prep Bailey for what I was going to ask & to hold the ring when we got here so you wouldn't see. I told Bailey to ask you to do a seminar because I knew you wouldn't refuse and lastly I asked the interns and some others to hold up the sign when it was time."

"Wow. So that's why you were being so 'hush hush' with Meredith?"

"Yeah, I needed her to make sure the interns weren't going to mess anything up."

"And Teddy was in on it? She acted like she didn't know why we were there. I'm going to hurt her."

Callie laughed then said, "Well don't kill her you kind of need bridesmaids."

"Well, I guess you're right. I absolutely loved your proposal, especially the song."

"Mhm I figured you would, it described us a lot."

"Ok well let's go to sleep, it's late" Arizona prompted.

"Yup. Now we have a wedding to plan. "
