Hey. This is a small story I have been playing in my head with for a while now. And why not share it with you if you got interest. I'm not the best writer to don't expect too much, I will give it my best none the less. My native language isn't English so their might be errors in their if you discover one I haven't noticed please tell me so I can correct them. I don't know when the next chapter will drop so that could take a while .But without further ado enjoy. At least I hope you do :-)

I slowly woke up from my slumber after another successful day of avoiding as much work as possible. My body felt a lot heavier and stronger than I was used to but after a good night's sleep, I didn't think about it. I rolled a bit to the side to get a better grip on my pillow to get a more comfortable position. My neck felt weird but nothing to write home about, as long as it wasn't the symptom of intense neck crumbs I didn't care.

"Moria-sama!" A high-pitched voice screamed the moment I had found the perfect position to lie down.

My head turned a bit to the side to look at whoever was calling me while I was in bed, in doing so disturbing my comfortable position. Whoever had called me was in for a few stern words.

As I started to sit up to get a better look at how had called me the first thing I noticed was the noticeable different room I was in. Everything was in a black gothic style from the bed I resided in, as well as the walls and furniture. Nothing was like my room.

The next thing I noticed was my height. I know that when you slept you grew a few cm for a short amount of time, but the difference I noticed was way too radical. From a mere estimation, it looked like at least 2 meters which was insane and not even possible.

All that took place in less than 5 seconds, and the last thing I saw hammered home what was happening. The person or rather said being that had called out to presumably me was a weird yellow pumpkin-headed thing.

I knew who that was. I know who I was, and froze up. Either I was dreaming or something really wrong had happened in the cosmos. Seeing me so stiff yellow spoke up again.

"Moria-sama is everything alright!?"

His voice was so high-pitched that it hurt my ears and made my head ring. Not knowing if it was a dream or what I feared it to be I got in person as good I was capable. Moria being my favorite character from one piece it wasn't that much of a challenge.

"Yellow you don't have to scream I can hear you just fine. Do so again and k will find a better body to receive your shadow." I said in as much confidence as I could muster while rubbing my head to ease the pain to prevent the incoming headache.

"I'm terribly sorry Moria-sama please don't take my shadow!" Yellow screamed again while bowing down.

The headache got stronger and I was about to lash out but calmed myself down.

"What is it you wanted to tell me yellow and make it quick. Without yelling" I stared down at my subordinate with squinted eyes.

"Doctor Hogback wants to meet with you in the thrown room to discuss the recent events regarding the humming swordsmen," Yellow said while still bowning.

'Recent events including the humming swordsmen? No, he couldn't mean?' I stroked my shin which I noticed was just my neck as a thought about the event he could refer to. If it was what I thought he meant I could be a bit in trouble. Not personnel, but regarding the future or rather it's uncertainty.

"Tell the doctor I will be there in the next 2 hours," I said to yellow.

"Yes, Moria-sama."

As yellow made his way out of my bedroom I stood up from the bed. Standing up the height made me feel dizzy for a few seconds before I caught myself.

'Well, that is gone take some time to get used to' I thought as I started to walk about the room thinking.

There were many things to regard, but the most pressing was my devil fruit. When I started to think about it I was imidiently granted a mental overview of my abilities or rather the basic abilities it was capable of. Starting with the most basic ability I summoned my shadow.

From behind me, my spitting image emerged. Which was a horrifying experience, to say the least, but knowing that I wouldn't attack me stopped the panic attack on its track. I started to walk around the shadow to take a closer look at it.

Confirming that there wasn't anything different from its anime version I made few short tests. From turning its arms to swords, shattering it into brickbats, and remolding its whole body to a giant scythe. I noticed that all those things came naturally to me. There was no learning barrier or anything like that.

Satisfied with my experiment I just left it standing there in its natural form. I would test the teleport ability later. I didn't know if it would have any weird effects on me like the first time standing up, and I would rather be in top form when meeting with Hogback.

I heard muffled footsteps coming toward me from beyond the door to my room. A few seconds later the door opened with red and blue entering. They held a plate with a cup and teapot above their head.

"Good morning Moria-sama. Your tea" blue said as they came to a stop in front of me. It was funny that those two were barely as big as one of my feet while carrying a cub half their size.

"Kishishi. Well done you two" I said as picked up the teacup and pot careful not to crush them with my gigantic and incredible strong hands. Having achieved that I poured myself a cup of tea and set down at the end of my bed.

"A pleasure doing your biding your terribleness". Red said

Ignoring them I took a sip from the tea. I flinched for a second as the liquid's temperature touched my lips, but noticed that I didn't hurt and continued. I tasted amazing, to say the least.

"Ah! Nothing is better than a fresh cup of tea in the morning"

"How correct you are Moria-sama" blue said with red by his side starring at me.

I looked down at them.

"Leave me alone"

Both of them immediately turned around and ran out of the room and closed to door behind them. It seemed like I had looked at them more sternly than I had wanted to, but that didn't matter. I just sat there and drank my tea before I had to make my way to the throne room.

I wandered the halls and noticed a lack of zombie pictures for any zombie in general. It seemed that my idea of where I had landed in the timeline seemed more correct the further I went.

I was a little bit late when I stepped into the throne room, and hogback was tapping his foot on the ground in clear annoyance. Hogback had never been loyal to Moria, and Moria had never seemed to care about that because he knew without him cindry wouldn't be alive. Well, she wasn't alive in the first place, to be honest, but Hogback ignores that fact as much as I do.

I knew for a fact that without the doctor's abilities my devil fruit would lose a huge chunk of its capabilities. So I would make moves to ensure the doctor's loyalty, not through fear but genuine loyalty, but for that, I needed to know what hogback needed to become loyal. That was going to take time and patience.

"Good morning doctor. May I offer you a cup of tea maybe? It seems like your temper got the better of you, I'm certain it will help you calm down Ki-shi-shi-shi!" I said while I walked past him and sat down. Ending the sentence with my eyes looking at his still moving foot. I wanted his loyalty but I could not project the image of a overly friendly man. I still needed him to respect me so I stuck to being moria for the time being until I had an idea of what I needed to do.

Being made aware of his action he stopped it immediately and fetched a handkerchief from his pocket to remove the slight layer of sweat that had started building upon his forehead.

"Yes, that would be nice Moria-sama" Hogback agreed. Clearly do defuse the situation he had directed himself into.

"You heard the men. Go fetch him some tea" I said to the three pumpkin head-looking individuals standing off to the side. They left not a second later presumably for the kitchen. That reminded me I needed to get rid of all the salt on the island. No need to give my enemies ammunition should they find out about the weakness of the zombies.

"So Doctor while they are getting your tea, why don't you inform me of the exact purpose of your visit." Leaning back I relaxed. I needed to know exactly what was happening to make sure I took the best possible approach.

"Of course Moria-sama. With the recent attack of that humming swordsman and the following purification of most of the zombies on the ship, we are in a rather bad state so to speak. I wanted to ask you what our next actions are, and how we are to regain our full strength." Hogback informed me of the recent events.

I lost my smile for a second and hogback restrained himself to remain in the same position. So my estimation of my place in the timeline was just confirmed. Brook or the humming swordsmen had purified a great number of zombies 5 years before the straw hats had landed in thriller bark. So that meant that the body of Ryuma already had the shadow of Brook.

That meant I had one rather powerful zombie under my wing already. I could work with that, but I need a better overview of all of my forces. I turned my head back towards hogback away from the window I had turned to while in thought.

"Tell me Hogback how many of my soldiers have been purified or rather how many remain? I will decide from there."

Hogback nodded and searched in his pants for something before pulling a sheet of paper out and unfolding it. He adjusted his glasses and started to read out loud what was written.

"What remains of your forces Moria-sama are 32 solider zombies, 15 Wild Zombies from which are 9 from Perona's Wonder Garden, 37 Suprise zombies which all reside in my manor, The monkey spider with 27 micespiders and 8 general zombies" Hogback finished his reading before he spoke up again.

"Oh and of course the newest addition with the shadow of the humming swordsmen inside the body of Ryuma"

Again stroking my none existing chin I began to think of ways to raise the number of zombies under my command. I knew that the events presiding the thriller bark arc regarding Brook had been bad for Moria, I hadn't thought it was this bad. I mean when going by the stand of Moria's forces in cannon and the five years between Moria had spent up to this point in the Florian triangle he had at least half if not more forces under his command when brook attacked. I other words brook had purified more than 700 to 800 zombies. Yes, it was thanks to him discovering their weakness to salt but still.

"That is quite troubling isn't it Ki-shi-shi! There is nothing we can do about this without a new influx of able body with shadows, but I might have something for you in the meantime Doctor" I said trying to come up with something for me to do in the meantime.

"What is it you wish of me Moria-sama?" Hogback asked quite intrigued. I presumed Moria-sama never really asked anything of Hogback aside from certain zombie creations.

"I find our tactic regarding the release of the body with stolen shadows to the world as a big weakness, and if possible would like for you to research a method of storage of them with as much reduced cost of upkeep as possible. A brilliant mind such as yourself should be capable of such a feat should it not Ki-shi-shi-shi?"

I had always thought that Moria's capture method of pirates was well thought out. I mean it worked on the monster trio, but the following release of them on their ship after taking the shadows of people was always a decision I couldn't understand.

I mean he had the world's most renowned surgeon on his ship for god's sake. The least he would be capable of would be to send the captured pirates or really anyone they had caught in a coma.

"Hmmm" The doctor hummed while thinking about what I had said.

"I will see what I can do Moria-sama, but I need living people to started my research"

That was true. I didn't know if there was anybody not part of my crew alive on this island but going by the chance factor there should be at least a few.

"Tell Ryuma to go hunting for anybody on this island, and to bring them to you. That should at least give a few bodies for your experiments"

"I will do so Moria-sama" Hogback turned around and made his way outside.

"Oh and Hogback" the Doctor stopped in his tracks and turned around.

"Tell me what are Absalom and Perona doing right now? Why haven't they come with you?"

Once again the Doctor adjusted his glasses and spoke.

"Perona is currently scouting the island for any zombie bodies she can find for collection. And Absalom is gathering them with the soldier and general ezombies Moria-sama"

"Ah yes of course. Tell them they are doing a great job as do you doctor of course"

Hogback nodded and resumed walking.

Being alone again I sank into my throne. Which I noticed right now was a beanbag.

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one. I summoned Doppelman and commanded him to walk towards the other side of the room. A soon as he stood there I thought about switching place with him and found myself standing not a second after.

Stumbling on my feet and nearly falling I caught myself with my hand slamming into the wall next to the door. To my surprise, the wall had cracked under the pressure of my hand slamming into it. The wall didn't break but a few cracks could be seen, and that was just from a reaction to keep me from falling how much damage could I inflict upon the wall with a straight-up punch? How strong am I?

Those are all questions I need to answer. Not having enough power of numbers under my banner their was nothing for me to do. Aside from sleeping, eating, drinking, and a few shores here and there. So I started to train. Well, training was a broad term. I trained my devil fruit abilities. I was not someone for physical training one of the reasons for me liking Moria, he was so strong without that, his devil fruit was strong enough on Its own, and Shadow Asgard was just his method of physical might. And when I had gathered enough shadows I would start to build up endurance with the shadows stuffed inside of me to raise the amount of them I can inject and the time period I can hold them.

So the next few days consisted of exactly that, me switching place with Doppelman to get rid of the side effect of doing so with a little progress, not nearly enough to use it in battle if it came to that, but enough to escape without standing still for a few minutes afterward. The control of shadows came somewhat naturally to me for whatever reason.

I even started to use my ability to shape my shadow into something else while attached to me. My body took the form my shadow held, but didn't make much progress as the feeling of doing so was just too weird.

Having had enough of all the trials of using my devil fruit I made my way to Absalom. Letting my shadow search him for me as I made my way down the tower that was also being used as our mainmast. The testing of my devil fruit powers was fun and all but after enough time doing so even, that got boring. I'm kinda like a child with a new toy, aren't I?

It didn't take my shadow too long to find Absalom. He was currently drinking his beloved beverage in his part of the castle. Letting my shadow lead the way I found myself standing outside his door not 10 minutes later. I first wanted to just barge in but decide against it. Absalom was loyal to me so the last thing I could do was respect his privacy. So instead I knocked.

What came from beyond was anything else but what I expected to hear.

"I swear gao if that is you and you want to ask me again about hogback making a Sexdoll for you I will find a way to take your shadow by myself! I'm off duty for god's sake!" With stumping feed, Absalom came to the door and ripped it open with such force that the door itself seemed to warp for a second.

"So what-!" Absalom's voice seemed to get stuck in his throat as he slowly started to look up at me with sweat dripping down his forehead.

"It seems you get some unusual requests Absalom Kishishi" I laughed at the sorry state Absalom was in.

"I'm sorry Moria-sama if I had known it was" Absalom started to explain himself I waved my hand in front of my face to signal him to stop.

"As if I didn't know that myself Absalom. But let's just forget what you just said and its implication to remain sane. The reason for my visit is simple." I said while looking down at Absalom's slowly recovering visage. He straightened up and began to speak.

"What do I own the pleasure of your visit Moria-sama? It is very unusual to see you awake at this time and even more so for you to come to me." Absalom questions clear confused at my unusual action.

"Well after all the turmoil within the last few days I think it's time for me to take a more hands-on approach regarding the ship. I just wanted for you to gather the generals in the compound for me to inspect them. That should be doable even in your off time should it not?" I said while focusing my gaze on him.

"Of course! Anything you ask Moria-sama. I will do so immediately. They should be in the compound within minutes." Absalom said as he took his jacket from behind the door and put it on before making his way down the hallway leaving me with an open door into his bedroom.

ignoring that he had just left me standing here I made my way to the compound in front of the castle and created a beanbag out of my own shadow to sit down on. It wasn't as comfortable as the one in my bedroom or the one in the throne room but it would do.

Just after a few minutes of waiting the remaining generals entered my weight with Absalom leading them. There was one that had an Odachi flung over his shoulder with white hair and a pair of white shorts. A bandage covered most of his torso and forehead. The next was a pair of knights with long necks holding a sword and shield each one in grey armor and one in golden. Coming fourth was another knight this one wore silver armor and carrying with him an axt and shield. The axt was positioned on his shoulder. A giant of a man came next but instead of a normal pair on lower limps, they had been replaced with the lower part of a rhino. As with the silver knight, his weapon was partly atop his shoulder plate being a giant sword. His armor was also colored golden but only covered his human upper part. Considering the thickness of a rhino's skin is an understandable decision.

My head turned slightly to the side to inspect the remaining three and by far more interesting bunch. Walking in front of the other two was John drinking from his trademark bottle of what I presumed was wine or rum. And as suspected the liquid quilled out of the 3 bullet wounds in his torso only for him to catch it with his bottle. On his left side walked a giant man. Slightly smaller them me in height with black cloth and spiked armor adorning his frame all around. Right of John walked a knight in armor painted in a striped black and dark lila pattern with a two handed sword in it's sheath on his back.

They came to a stop in front of me.

"I gathered all remaining generals Moria-sama as you requested." Absalom started as he turned towards them and gestured with his hands to the gathered group. After that he walked towards me and stood to my right.

"So what can we do for you boss hahaha" John asked before drinking from his bottle again.

From my shadow beanbag a tendril of it mass erupted and smashed the bottle John was holding into pieces. John was tuned as the liquid poured down his face.

"What the hell is wrong with you all! Aren't you suppose to be mighty captains and renowned warriors?! How was one single swordsmen capable of killing so many of you?!" I said with anger. And it was genuine. How in all hell was brook able to take on so many of them and still get so many of them. I know that they are strong I had seen it. The one in the stripped pattern had taken on franky and had him on his backfoot. All of them together could probably take on the whole straw hat crew and win. Well Ruffy and zoro maybe not but the others with absolute certainty.

They all looked at me uncertain of what to say. Absalom was of to the side with a slight bit of fear visible on his face. I looked at every single one of them for an answer but none came.

"Explain yourself or should I give your shadow to someone more capable?!"

The Odachi holder looked at me and spoke.

"The skeleton knew of our weakness for salt Master their was nothing we could do about it." He gave the sorry excuse I expected.

"So you are telling you are not good enough to keep him from throwing salt in your mouth?" I said as I starred at him.

He searched for an answer but before he could do so the upper half of the rhono spoke with a deep and growling voice.

"No master we just had not been prepared for a foe like that. It will not happen again"

"All you give are sorry excuses, but I will accept them for now as long as it doesn't happen again. I have a name to uphold and your perfomence has greatly harmed it so don't do it again. You may leave now." With that they turned and made their way back towards the chambers that hold them. When they where out of earshot Absalom spoke up.

"I'm sorry Moria-sama I should have interfiend sooner to stop the rampage of the swordsmen. I will make sure that something like that doesn't happen again."

I looked down at Absalom trying my best to keep my anger in check. He had something to do with the disaster as well but he wasn't a zombie that followed all of my orders and I liked him for even for all the wrongs he had done. I knew he had the potential to be strong maybe even strong enough to fight sanji and win, but for that he needed to train. So I decided to give him a indirect order to improve. It would be more effective that way if the desire to do so came from himself.

"Absalom of all my subordinates I trust you the most so see that that something like that never happens again. I want to know that I can at least rely on you." The statement was left unsaid. If the others failed you needed to be the one to take care of it. He was often portrayed as dumb but I believe him to be anything but.

Absalom eyes widened at my statement. It seemed he had never heard such words from moria before. A little fire seemed to lit in his eyes before he spoke up.

"Of course Moria-sama leave it to me. Something of that kind shall never happen again as long as I'm alive."

I allowed myself a little smile before standing up and letting my shadow gather itself at it's original place.

"Ki-shi-shi that is reasuring to hear. Now if you would excuse me if have quiet a few things that require my attention." Making my way towards the doors leading into the castle I heard Absaloms fast footsteps to who knows where.

6 days later I was just sitting down in my beanbag to relax after having switched place with doppelman.

Thinking back my performance in front of the generals I had decided to give them names instead of just calling them by their numbers like John. The Odachi wielding one was now known as Fu. The pair of long neck knights as Kasu for the golden and Masu for the grey one. The silver Knight was just just called such. Rhino warrior was now called Racko the pattern knight as Plaso for the last it had taken some time to find a name I liked but in the end Gregor stuck with me.

In the past days nothing really interesting had happend. I had taken a look at our marios for example. We had about 400 of solider quality, 155 wilds, 280 surprise and just 15 generals. As well as 3 special zombies one of them being oars. Hogback had announced at today's breakfast that he had something to show me regarding the project I had entrusted him with. I knew that he was brilliant but I'm not ashamed to say that I was surprised to hear that. In a good way of course.

But even with all the marios we had right know the plans I had made for the Thriller bark pirates for the future would not be possible even if all of them had a shadow. So that was the objective I had made lit for me as of now. Gather as many strong shadows and body as possible to build myself an army. I also needed a lot of ships.

"Moria-sama! Moria-sama! A pirate ship has entered the inner ring and they are entering the island! What should we do Moria-sama!?" Yellow stopped right in front of me with red and blue following behind and running into him when he stopped abruptly. They all fell and rolled in front of him.

And it seemed the first part of my plan was starting to be achieved at least in a small part.

I looked done at them after that pathetic display of balance. So a new ship had found its way into my trap ehh? A good chance to see how strong the remaining zombies are. Like I said if it was avoidable I would not fight. What were minions for if not that?

"Well call Absolom and the remaining Generals to gather in front of the castle to wait for me. I will be down in a few minutes. Oh and tell Ryuma to meet me as well. This is going to be fun Ki-shi-shi" I laughed as I leaned back in the beanbag as the three pumpkins left to fulfill their tasks.

At the shore of Thriller Bark

"Captain the pose isn't pointing towards this place this isn't normal!" A pirate clad in a white shirt with a cutlass strapped to his brown pants while tapping the glass of the mentioned pose.

A men rounder in stature standing 2 meters tall wearing chef's clothing and a giant cleaver strapped to his back turned to his navigator with an irritated face. Every island on the grand line was magnetically loaded, there should be no way this one wasn't. If he was honest with himself he was a bit worried himself, but he couldn't let his crew see that. They respected him and wouldn't betray him for something like that, but if he showed that the situation would only worsen when they panicked.

The island they had had found themselves on now disturbed him. The fog they had entered a few days ago had been bad enough, but finding an island with seemingly no population was not the best of omens. He could see something of in the distance but couldn't make out what it was, the only thing he had in mind for the moment was a mountain by the sheer height of the shadow it produced through the fog.

But enough starring of in the distance time to see what this island has in store for us.

"Ok, boys it seems we found a rather unique island. And unique means there has to be something worth our time her at least. We don't have any records or mentioning of this island so be cautious. And if we are lucky something nice to eat as well Ruhruhruh!"

The captain with his cleaver raised above his head as jumped off the ship with his crew coming after him.

Touching down on Thriller Bark was the pirate Captain of the "Bone Chewing Pirates" know as Guillot "The Cannibal" with a bounty of 103,000,987 berrys, and he had just doomed himself and his crew.

So that was the first chapter of Gecko Moria awakens. Please tell me what you thought of the first entry and if possible were to improve and how. Until next time.

Oh and i might add the back story of the pirates that get captured by Moria. But haven't decided that yet.
