Hello! This one is for Awesomerebel55. Sorry I waited so long to write this. I might be done writing this fanfic.
Family Therapy from Hell
Linda turned to Charlie, "Okay, so typically when your father and I have a session we take a few minutes to address my confusion with the whole devil and angels and god thing."
Charlie nodded, "Oh of course. What's the problem?"
Linda took a breath, "hmm ok. So, to clarify, Charlie is in no way going to bring about the apocalypse or fight a final battle with Jesus?"
The two denizens of hell burst into a fit of laughter, Lucifer hugging Charlie while she nearly fell off the sofa, slapping her knee.
"I'm not the antichrist, Doctor. Linda, I'm just a naturally powerful demon." Lucifer put a hand to his mouth, "Doctor I thought we established that evil wasn't synonymous with the devil."
Charlie giggled a bit, "I'm not even vaguely sure if…" she looked at her dad, "Let's not go into which religion got it right, it's boring, we're here for your expertise. Amenadiel would be the person to ask anyway. He's never mentioned a J.C. on the family tree."
Linda nodded, "Ok, religion aside." Linda held up her hands, "How old is Charlie?"
"800ish time is weird in hell, I have a girlfriend that would tell you she's been there15 years or so, but she died in 2012."
Linda nodded, "Girlfriend?" "Her name is Vaggie. Ella es de España." Responded the girl. "So, people that die what happens there? Is Hitler sitting in a boiler room or?"
Charlie and Lucifer shrugged before Lucifer spoke, "Ok so usually souls get trapped in a sort of limbo, personalized torture, it takes a lot of work to keep the stupid thing working, torturers need constant micromanaging, that's why Maizekien and I are visiting regularly now, beyond that, once you're done punishing yourself, or Maize gets bored of you-"
Lucifer phone buzzed. "Just a sec." he gave it a glance, "Oh, it's taco night."
"Ok, after that process or if our extended family upstairs decides you don't fit the requirements sinners get thrown into hell proper, Dante's inferno is fairly accurate what with having helped write it. Then he butchered the ending with a metaphor about the destruction of Rome."
Linda nodded, "Ok let's get back on topic."
Linda looked between Lucifer and his Charlie. "I find this a bit… Concerning." Lucifer gave a confused look, "What do you mean doctor?"
"Why haven't you mentioned your daughter or your wife in our sessions?" The devil shrugged, "It's never come up." Linda pursed her lips, "You have expressed clear discomfort around Trixie and spoken against the idea of having children." Charlie looked over to her father confused. "What?"
Lucifer looked between the two trying to think of how to handle this situation, "Now, hang on I was talking about HUMAN children. I never said anything of the sort about Charlette, or Charlie."
"Okay, I think we'll all gain more from asking Charlie some questions. Charlie, would you describe your father as distant? Or emotionally unavailable?"
Charlie pursed her lips, I've always wanted to spend more time with my parents, but they're so busy with their jobs that they didn't get to spend as much time with me. He taught me all sorts of instruments and languages as a child, his job is really time consuming. So, we regularly went weeks without seeing each other. The longest he's been away from home was when he came to L.A." Charlie paused so Linda continued.
"Did you get mad?" Charlie looked between the therapist and her father franticly, "Mom helped, she just got difficult to be around. I thought he needed the break."
Linda nods, "Okay, I'll stop you there, you didn't want to disappoint him so you waited as long as you could, doing the best you could, and now you feel ashamed for coming to L.A. to find him."
Linda gestures to Lucifer, "A healthy confrontation probably involved yelling, your father admitting to being oblivious to your suffering, and ended with a very emotional hug, seeing as the two of you are in the same room and spending time together."
Charlie nodded, "Yeah, that's about right."
Linda nodded, "That's good, Lucifer had some issues being vulnerable. It is nice to see that's been resolved. I think we can end this session here."
"Is this the part where we make a breakthrough?" Charlie asked.
Dr. Martin chuckled, "uh, no, sessions are regular because more often than not we just talk and let me gain a better understanding of what's going on. Television can be very misleading."
"Oh."
Lucifer smiled, "Let's go to the store we've got a taco party to get to."
Sorry about this I'm not a therapist and I'm not cut out for this kind of thing I hope I didn't lose you guys. I'm going to do at least one more of these.
