Consequences didnt always make the most sense, soon enough his life was dictated by a woman he knew loved him because he loved her. Love was a two-way thing, right? If one half of a relationship could feel it then the other half could feel it to he was convinced by that point that this was meant to be. Every day he dreamed of feeling her in his arms, it wasn't a typical type of relationship, the love and the passion was there but it wasn't normal. It was confusing but adrenaline-filled, it was different and sometimes people craved difference in their lives, maybe thats what did it for them both. Unfortunately, he wasn't a mind reader, well who is, you hear about it but really it was an unlawful way of believing right?

It was as if he was on autopilot, his mindset on the truth and the realisation of many things that were not quite right. You know those gut feelings, the ones that make your stomach churn but also make you long to fix something; this was one of them alright, it was something he couldnt ignore.

"Jac let me in!"

Claytons's eyes darted to his 'partner' and her eyes widen in shock at the audacity of her ex-lover, how could he do this, put her in jeopardy just like that. It was almost another form of one's addiction wasn't it, the inability to refrain from what the mind wanted, what one wanted to know. A different form maybe but the fundamentals still the same.

"What have you done?"

"Nothing!" Jac scowls but that was a wrong move as the strong fingers of Clayton wrapped around her slender wrist "Get off me!"

"Jac, I will kick this door down!" Kian shouts, it was muffled though and Jac looked at the door before back at Clayton, she used all of her strength, not much since she had been in hospital but either way she kneed Clayton right where it hurt and his body fell to the floor, she rushed to the door and opened it, Kian raised his eyebrows

"Go!" she snaps as Kian rushes her away from the scene of the 'crime' towards his car, she gets in and Kian gets in the driver's seat "Drive, just drive anywhere, I'll explain all, promise"

"Whatever" Kian sighs dramatically starting the engine, he drives off sneaking a glance at Jac who was resting her head against the cool glass of the passenger seat, shaking his head quickly they were off just like that...

Not really knowing the location of where they were going, Kian just did what he was told and that was to drive. Jac raised her eyebrows at being almost an hour out of the area but unable to comprehend the entirety of the situation she just let him continue, it gave her time to come to terms with everything that happened in the short space of time that she left. Finally reaching the end of her tether she demanded that Kian pulled over at the next motorway service station because somehow they ended up going on the motorway yet again neither of them really realising that they did.

"Still as demanding as ever"

"Yeah very funny, dont wind me up I dont need it trust me"

"What was that about with Clayton?"

"Straight to the point I see"

Jac rolled her eyes, even the extensive time she had to think of a cover story none seemed to fit the occasion. Her eyes glanced to Kian, not judging her, not a judgemental bone in his body when it came to her at least. She sighed in annoyance knowing he would want every last ounce of information out of her and if she was honest with herself she didnt have the energy for such demands. Lying seemed easy but keeping up the lies would be exhausting.

"The truth"

"Ok fine!" she scowls at him, he smirks "It's not funny Kian, I've been petrified"

"What?" he frowns placing a hand on her leg, she shakes her head and closes her eyes "Speak to me Jac"

"It was Clayton"

"Ok thats a start but what was Clayton?" he asks gently rubbing his hand up and down her leg to comfort her

"He did this to me" she raises her arm up and a flash of red hot anger came across Kian at the speed of light "Before you go off on one, listen to me"

"Ok" he laments, it did seem tempting though and that was something she could see in his eyes "Tell me everything, I won't go off on one-"

"Promise?" she was still unsure but Kian smiles at her, that smile as well and from that point she felt safer in his presence

"Promise"

"When I left...after what happened on Darwin, I left with Clayton-"

"I saw you" he confirms and Jac nods in response "I'm guessing it didnt go according to plan?"

"Not exactly..." she trails off closing her eyes "Me and Clayton we...got together, in that way-"

"In the way we...got together"

"Yes" she responds rolling her eyes at how awkward this all was, usually it wouldn't phase her but it really was right now, another degrading tactic from saint Clayton "He was, controlling, weird with me but...I guess he blinded me to the truth right? The truth being Clayton wasn't as cured as I thought he was. He would flip every now and then I tried my best I mean, I got to this point but me trying it was never enough Kian, I know that now. His snapping would end in him hitting me, hurting me even when I was...well you know from my hospital notes"

"So let me get this straight..." Kian trails off and Jac sighs knowing this was going to be another horrible realisation of what her life had become "Clayton beat you every time something didnt go his way"

"Kind of, I dont really know how to describe it, it was almost like that but it was something else as well. I'm just confused Kian, so confused at how it ended up like this. I care a lot for Clayton and then he does that to me when I thought we had a connection of some sort, maybe it wasn't that, maybe it was a psychological connection that we should have never have had. You know what they say in the places we were at right? Patients sharing those connections, it always ends in a mess and confusion, affecting people in ways they shouldn't. This was just one of those cases"

"Why didnt you just pick up the phone and call?" Kian questions in concern, Jac shakes her head

"I just wanted to feel alone, I just wanted to feel so alone and isolated. It was weird, Clayton did all of that to me as well as me doing it to myself but it felt oddly right"

"And the..." he gestures to her stomach, she shakes her head and places her hand over it

"I dont know, I've had no antenatal care..." she trails off as Kian sighs dramatically starting the car up "What are you doing?"

"Going to Holby" Kian states as Jac frowns "Now you're away from Clayton, we're checking on that baby of yours"

"Kian you can't just demand that-"

"Tough, doctors orders and as you aren't one anymore-"

"Oh you're so immature" she rolls her eyes but doesn't object to putting her seatbelt on anyway, Kian smirks at her and she just smiles slightly, it was weird having someone take care of her, weird indeed...

They took the hour drive back to Holby, Kian parked as close to one of the numerous hospital entrances as possible knowing that the last thing Jac needed was to be hounded by numerous hospital staff asking all those questions, you know the ones. Why are you back? Are you coming back? It really wasn't needed right now and Kian was concerned about her and all he wanted was to protect her, the feelings were overwhelming and confusing for him to fathom but either way, it needed to be done. Ushering her up into the office of Darwin as secretly as he could he made sure that the door to the office was locked whilst he obtained an ultrasound machine, he wheeled it in and Jac raised her eyebrows at him, almost challenging him at his midwifery skills.

"I dont know how I feel about you adding midwife to your arrogant filled CV"

"You can't help but have a dig can you?" he quips grabbing that bottle of clear sticky gel but Jac just bites her lip "You need to roll your-"

"No" she shakes her head "This was a mistake"

"Jac, what's going on"

"Nothing" she shakes her head once more before sighing and trying the door "I need to go"

"Jac you dont need to go, you're safe here, Clayton can't get you here I won't let him," Kian says gently and Jac just huffs and sits down, he places the bottle back in the holder "What is it? If its stretchmarks-"

"Oh shut up Kian" she snaps and Kian smirks, she shoves him "You're so annoying"

"Ok seriously, you can speak to me" he puts his arm around her shoulders and she doesn't object or try to even shrug him off "I want to help, I thought you wanted a scan-"

"I do...but" she trails off before sighing, she stands up and rolls her jumper up, Kian internally winces at the marks covering her body

"It's ok" he assures her "No judgement here, I want to help"

"Ok," she says quietly sitting on the sofa in the office, she lies out on it kicking him off playfully trying to forget all of the bad "Please dont press too hard"

"Let me know if I hurt you" Kian whispers softly grabbing the transducer, he squirts the gel onto her stomach and smiles slightly, Jac narrows her eyes at the screen "How have the movements been?"

"Uh yeah ok" she nods slowly before biting her lip and dropping her gaze, Kian smiles widely "It's ok"

"Mhm" Kian nods moving the transducer slightly and she knew exactly what he was looking at so she rolls her eyes and diverts her gaze to Kian

"He's ok" she corrects herself and Kian laughs at her before biting his lip "You can ask the question, I know you've been dying to"

"Is he mine?" Kian looks at her and Jac smiles slightly looking at the screen before biting her lip

"He's yours" she confirms and Kian nods, he was proud of what they had created "I know I should have told you but-"

"Jac, I know why you couldnt have told me, you were trying to protect yourself the best you could in the situation you were in, I dont blame you in a way you were protecting him"

"Thank you" she whispers with a small smile "For not hating me, enough people hate me including Clayton"

"What do you want to do now?" he questions cautiously, Jac closes her eyes knowing she hadn't even thought about that "I could get Sacha? I could get Fletch if you want to speak to them-"

"No, they'll ask questions" she shakes her head not ready for that "I dont have any money...clothes even...what do I do?"

"Stay with me" he offers and she pulls a face at the weird suggestion "I'll take the sofa, you take the bed then tomorrow we can think of a plan"

"I dont know..."

"Where else will you go?" he questions gently and Jac just shakes her head before sighing in annoyance at the situation she was in

"Ok" she nods slowly thinking it through ever so briefly in her head "Ok fine, yeah, then tomorrow we can think of a plan"

"You look so tired Jac, exhausted even I want you to get a good night sleep especially in your condition-"

"I'm not in any condition Madani" she snaps and he's taken aback by her "Sorry...sorry...it just doesn't feel right anymore"

"What doesn't feel right?"

"Being me" she shakes her head at the whole thing "How can I ever be me again?"

"You'll get there, it's going to take time but you have so many people around you who want to help so let us help"

"Why do you want to help?"

"Not tonight eh?" he nudges her knowing she was just so tired and her mind was just so numb it wouldn't be fair "When you're that little bit stronger ok?"

"Ok" she nods, her eyelids drooping ever so tiredly, her head resting against Kian's shoulder so he gently lies her down on the sofa

"I'll go and get the car, you just rest," he says quietly and Jac smiles slightly causing him to smile as well, he had to resist to kiss her on the head but right now that would do...
