Ch 28 Formation
Castle of Eden October 4, 1995, Time unknown
"DAMNIT!" Rider's master cursed in his chair.
"This is true master, the master we made a contract with has gone on to attack Ritsuka Fujimaru." Rider of Heaven informed the masked man. "Caster of Eden too encountered the Chaldeans while on patrol. Things led to another and discovered our Watchers." She informed him seeing the frown upon his face.
"Rider, you been here for at least two years." The master stated, angrier by the second. "During that time span, you have been watching the people of that world. You've been bidding your time to strike, preparing by having Caster build your army. You even sent Avenger of the Gallows, the Servant who supposed to be guarding the North Pillar here, back in time to destroy the Mage's Association and hunted down any Mages that survived."
Rider looks at her master, knowing the outcome of this conversation. "Master-"
"LET ME FINISHES!" Her master scolded her for interrupting him. "Rider of Heaven, your Anomaly is way behind from the others. Even if Alter Ego of the Black Lake is unavailable I can tell his Anomaly is already on the verge to collapse from his last report."
Rider remained silent as her master scolded her. "I want you to hurry up and gather the remaining Mana here. Then continue to reign over the people there until my plan is set in motion." The master orders the Servant.
"Yes, master." Rider responded to her master's orders.
"I'll be sending Lancer of Melromarc to observe your progress. Now go." The transmission ended; Rider looks at the empty chair before slamming her fist on the table.
"Damnit." Rider got up, walking out of the room and into her throne room.
Caster of Eden was waiting in the throne room, he looks up seeing Rider entering. "So? What did he say?" he asked, knowing what their master is like.
Rider looks at Caster, "We need to speed up our plans, his orders." She informed her friend.
"Very well, so what move do we make?" Caster asked, curious what the plan is now.
"We continue our plan, however instead of another year of waiting we're going to act near the end of the school year." Rider came up with the new plan of action right on the spot. "Inform our master in the change of plans."
"Whatever you say, I'm just here to enjoy myself." Caster shrugs his shoulder, walking off to do what he was tasked with.
Hogwarts, October 4, 1995, 3: 50 PM
"And that my dear students are how the Mundane describe Biology, the study of life and living organisms such as yourselves." Da Vinci looks at the class after a long lecture on the science of life with a smile.
Everyone remained silent, taking in the lecture on genetics and biology from the Head of Chaldea's Technology Development Division. "S-So, what you're saying that we're made from things called cells?" A Pureblood asked, realizing what the lesson is about.
Da Vinci turns around dramatically with a smile. "Precisely, now for homework, I would like you all to answer this questionnaire about today's lecture." She passed out the assignment on the desk. "They're multiple-choice questions, so it'll be easy if you paid attention."
Hermione raised her hands, gaining her attention. "Professor, is there any paper to write or…"
"Not at all Ms. Granger, I figured that after today's lecture you all might get a bit tired if I assign you all a paper." Da Vinci smiles, "So as a gift from your fun professor, I've given you less homework to do."
The students nodded liking the sound of it. "Alright, that's all for today. You're all dismissed." Da Vinci announced letting her students go to the next class.
Ron walks alongside Jane and Hermione, continuing their discussion from yesterday. "Jane you have to do it." He listens to Hermione, picking up from where she left off. "It's the only way to defend ourselves. You said it yourself if he is alive then we must learn now."
"Hermione I told you countless times that I don't want to do i-"
"Even if it means to get justice for Harry?" Hermione decided to play that card, even if it's a low play.
Jane froze for a moment, thinking of what she just said. 'Justice? Justice…for…Harry…' she ponders in her mind. The word with her dead twin's name together, she turns to Hermione with a dead face.
Ron felt a sudden shift in the temperature, "Hey Mione, you better apol-"
"Fine, I'll do it." Jane proclaims, wanting justice for her brother.
Hermione took Jane's hand and stare at her with sad eyes. "I'm sorry to pull that card, Jane. It's just we're in a desperate situation right now-"
"Just drop it, Hermione." Jane sighs, not wanting an explanation from her now. She crosses her arms, looking at the two. "If we're going to do this then we need a base of operation." She concluded.
Ron nodded, "You're right but where do we…huh?" He heard someone talking down the hallway from the right.
"Ron? What's up-"
"Ssshhh! I think I heard someone talking down there." Ron points over to the right. He rushes over to the end of the hall, peeking at what's going on.
"So, if my sources are right the Room of Requirements are around these halls." Rita looks around the solid brick walls for any clue. "Help me look, Bozo, this might be the turn of the century."
Bozo walks up to the wall, searching for clues too. "Um, Rita d-didn't the k-kids say that the r-room is i-in the t-third corridor."
Rita thought for a moment. "Let's check the third corridor, Bozo. She smiles, dragging her underling with her.
"(The Room of Requirements…)" Ron ponders of the school myth. Then he remembers what Neville said to him.
"Hey Ron, why did you run off like that?" Jane walks up to the red-haired boy with Hermione following behind. "We were going to discuss where to hold this secret club." She reasons with him.
The young Gryffindor looks at the two, having the perfect place in mind. "Hey Hermione, do you remember when Neville said that he encountered a door in the hall. When he came back to check on it and there's nothing?"
Hermione nodded, remembering that conversation. "Yeah, I remember. He mentions the Room of-" She froze realizing what he's going on about.
"What is it, Hermione? What is Ron saying?" Jane asked, not getting where the conversation is leading.
Hermione and Ron gave a cheeky smirk. "I think we found where we can hold our club," Hermione informs the red-haired girl.
"What?" Jane questions before being hauled away by the two.
Hermione smiles at her friend, "We'll explain on the way. For now, let's find Neville." She said exiting the hallway. Unknown to them someone was smirking in the shadows, seeing them off to find the mythological room.
"Look, guys, I don't know where the room is," Neville said, being pushed by Ron in the Seventh-floor corridor. "All I know that I just thought I saw a door and when I came back it was gone." He explains to the Golden Trio.
"We know, and that's why we need you to show us where you found it," Hermione explains to the Longbottom heir.
Ron nodded, still pushing Neville down the hall. "That's right, this is the hall you said you saw it right?" he asked, continues his shoving.
"Y-Yes, but…" Neville looks over to Jane, following beside the three. "Jane, do you understand what these two are saying?"
Jane tilts her hand, "More or less. But I finally understand why they're doing this." She looks at her two friends.
Neville sighs, looking around the hall. "Wait…there it is!" he points to the door in the intersection of the hall.
They all look to see the door to the Room of Requirements, there in the open. "This is weird," Hermione commented, sensing something odd about the door.
"What do you mean?" Ron asked not seeing the problem here.
"I mean the Room of Requirements shouldn't be showing itself unless someone needs of it," Hermione explains the reason why it's odd to see the door in broad daylight.
"Does that mean someone is already inside?" Neville asked, remembering the stories about it.
Jane started to walk forward to the door before feeling a hand grabbing her. "Jane what are you doing? We don't know who's inside the room." Hermione said with nervousness,
The red-haired girl looks over to the bushy-haired girl with a small smirk. "Only one way to find out," she claims walking to the door.
"Jane," Hermione groans following behind her, the boys look at each other before following too. (Insert at the Garden (Reprise) [Fate/stay night: Garden of Avalon OST])
Upon walking up to the door, Jane opens it slightly seeing a white-haired woman standing in a pile of maps and books with a familiar Beast on her shoulders. "Mmmm, interesting." She ponders, reading through the books. "Fujimaru might want to read this text, don't you agree Cath Pulg?"
"Fou!" Fou responded, reading the pages too.
Merlin smiles. "Ah, one thing we can agree upon my former familiar." The Grand Caster jokes before being slapped by the cheek. "Yeah, yeah, I know my boundaries." She rolled her eyes.
"Who is that woman?" Neville asked, never seeing her around before.
Hermione, Ron, and Jane remember her that night under the basement. "Caster?" Jane said, wondering why she's in here.
"How did she know about the Room of Requirements?" Hermione asked, realizing that she was the one who found the door. "This place is only known to a few people. Did she come by it out of coincidence?" she deduced basing what she sees.
"I think we should leave; she seems to be busy," Ron commented, not wanting to be caught.
Hermione almost agreed when she glanced at the title of the books. "Wait a moment." She announced, sneaking inside.
"(HERMIONE! NO!)" Jane hissed at her for sneaking inside.
Hermione crawled on the floor, trying to be quiet as possible. 'Almost there…' she said in her mind. She reached out her hand, almost grabbing a book before Fou jumps on her hand. She gulps at the Ritsuka's familiar. "(Uh…)"
"Fou?" Fou tilts his head, curious as to why this human is on the floor.
"You know, we Servants have heightened senses. I already know you are already here since you peeked through the crack door." Merlin closes the book in her hands. She turns around to the Muggle-born child with a smile. "But to think you boldly coming inside and try to take the books in my possession is very cocky, Ms. Granger," Merlin smirks, liking bold people.
"Um, Caster how did-"
"I know of this place and why it stayed visible?" Merlin asked for her, she leans down helping the girl to her feet. "I've disabled the cloaking spell. I've been here countless times, the first was near the First day." She answered the question.
Hermione blinks, surprised that she knew about this place for a long time. "But no one can disable the spell of the room! It's sentient!"
Merlin blinks before laughing. "Oh, that's rich. This room is made from ancient magic. Magic since the Age of Fairies, I was able to disable it because I happen to know a thing or two about Magic and the Age of Fairies." She looks at the door motioning the others to come in.
"I-I see. Then can you-"
"Reactivate the cloaking spell?" The Grand Caster asked, rolling her hand. "Already done."
Fou climbs on Merlin's shoulder. "Fou!" he cried.
'Wandless magic?' Hermione's eyes widen at the sight.
Merlin looks at each young Gryffindor children. "Now for my question, why are you all looking for this place?' she asked, curious about why they're here.
Ron froze, feeling nervous all of sudden. "W-We-"
"We just want a room for a club we're forming." Jane lied, technically about their plan.
The Caster raised her eyebrows, a bit suspicious of them. "If I may, what club is it?" she asked.
"Uh…"
"A…A unity club." Hermione jumps in. "This club's purpose is to spread unity to the school. Seeing that most of the student body are either separate because of Professor Umbridge and other means, we figured that an untied force would help to stand up against her." She technically lied about their real purpose.
"Y-Yeah, nothing wrong about forming a club from students, right?" Ron laughs nervously, Jane nudges his side to make him stop. If any further, then the Servant will be more suspicious of their actions.
Merlin saw what's truly going on here. "Very well, sounds good to me." She smiles before collecting the books on the ground. "I'll leave you all be for you to set up." The Caster said, holding a stack of books in her hands.
"Fou, Fou!" The Beast agrees with his former master.
"Um, thank you, Caster," Jane said to the figurehead of the Wizarding World.
The three smiles that they were able to get this place to themselves, "Um you won't go and tell anyone about this, right?" Neville asked the Servant.
Merlin looks to the side before smirking. "Not my place, if you want to form a club about unity. It's your right as students to form it." She advises the young witches and wizards. "Though a little advice would help you on the way in the survival of this club of yours." She peeked into the near future.
They all look at each other before back at Merlin. "What advice is that Caster?" Hermione asked the Grand Servant.
"Be careful of whom you trust within this club of yours," Merlin advises the group of a certain person in the future. "Keep a close eye on those who might give away your location. Even if they are unlikely to do so."
"What does that suppose to mean?" Ron asked, confused by the advice given by the onion-haired shaped woman.
Merlin smiles. "I must take my leave, dear children." She inclines her head gracefully before stepping out. "I wish you luck in your endeavor," she vanished in the halls, leaving a dumbfounded Gryffindor behind. (End song.)
Neville blinks and turns to his friends. "That was confusing, what does she mean to keep a close eye on those who we trust?" he asked the group.
"I think she meant to be wary of those we let into this club," Jane explained to them.
Hermione nodded, getting the advice means. "She's right, we don't know who we can trust with this secret. But that doesn't mean we can't continue what we were doing." She explains.
"Right, let's find more people to join us." Ron agrees with Hermione and Jane.
"Right," they all said, going out to find members of their defense club.
Ritsuka read through the books while holding his son in his chair. "These are great Caster, now we can investigate what happens to the Association in this world." He smiles at Merlin standing in front of him.
"Thank you, master, though I might say upon reading these journals it seems they're describing a Servant," Merlin informs her master about what she read in the books.
The Magus's eyes were serious, already knew something like this happened. "I figured as much, when I was at the Association, we discovered black vines in certain rooms and halls." He said to the Caster.
Merlin nodded, hearing what her master has to say. "I assume it's this Avenger of the Gallows's work? Many of the Servants here are talking about her." She asked, receiving a nod from him. "Mmmm, I wonder how this Avenger Servant was able to take down many Mages on her own."
Ritsuka stood up from his chair, cradling Romani in his arms. "It's not that surprising that Avenger is a Divine Spirit, Brynhildr was able to fend her off with ease. However, we do not know her full strength lies."
"I see, that will complicate things. Divine Spirits are a bit stronger than regular Heroic Spirits." Merlin sighs, seeing the trouble Avenger might bring.
Romani snuggles against his father's chest as he counties to sleep. "So, what are the chances that we might succeed in this Anomaly?" Ritsuka asked the Grand Caster.
Merlin crosses her arms, seeing into the future with her clairvoyance. "It's a fifty-fifty chance, considering the Divine Spirits in our disposal and if you recruit both the Servant in the forest and Saber of Sheol then we have a chance right about seventy." She explains to her master. "The enemy is still considered dangerous with a master by their side."
Ritsuka still doesn't like the numbers, but he'll take any chance of success he has. "Alright, thank you, Caster." He appreciated her help.
Merlin nodded before she heads off, "Oh another thing, master."
Ritsuka raised his eyebrow, curious what information she has. "Oh? What is it, Merlin?"
Room of Requirements
"Wow, who knew a lot would join our club." Jane blinks seeing a lot of students gathered in the Room of Requirements.
"That's what connections are for Jane." Hermione smiles, she walks forward-facing the crowd of their fellow students, surprisingly and some of the Fan clubs are there too. "Thank you for coming on short notices everyone."
Hermione looks at each student, "I'm sure you all got the memo from us, for those who don't, we need a proper teacher to defend ourselves. One who has experience in defending themselves against others." She looks over to Jane who looks away from her.
"Why?" Zacharias questions her.
"Why?" Ron asked. "The reason why is that Professor Umbridge isn't teaching us anything useful." He reasons with the Hufflepuff.
"Ronny got it in the eye." Fred and George commented, many agree with Ron. The lessons that Umbridge is teaching them aren't that useful as a matter of fact, it's downright garbage.
"But what Umbridge is teaching us is Ministry supported." Lavender pointed out the obstacle. "If we get caught doing anything else, then we'll be expelled."
"Lavender's right, I already have detention with Filch because I'm the announcer for Quidditch," Dean asked, not wanting any more trouble.
Many listen to the two's reason, this causes them to realize their own problems with the Umbridge. "Look, this was a good though but we can't risk any more detention-'
Jane stood up from her chair, "So what? You got detention from Umbridge, that doesn't mean she has taken away your rights to defend yourselves!" she proclaims, having enough of their excuses. "What Umbridge is teaching can only get you so far, unlike experience. We learned from past teachers for DADAs, and their lessons stick with us."
"The Ministry wants to put a leash on our education, education that will help us out there." Jane points to the outside behind the windows. "Because out there is a scary place, what they are doing to our education is preventing us from being prepared for anything."
Jane looks at everyone gathered, staring at her while making her speech. "I know you are scared, but we are Wizards and Witches. Taking our right to learn defensive spells is like taking the meaning of being Wizards and Witches."
Neville, Luna, and Ron stood up from their chairs. "Jane's right, no matter what danger will come. We need to learn how to defend ourselves to survive whatever might comes our way." Neville reasons with them.
Ron nodded agreeing with them, "Can't you see? We are giving you an opportunity to be free from Umbridge's shackles." Ron supports their side of this internal conflict.
They all remain silent, still undecided to join or not until Jane spoke out one more time. This is your chance, if…Harry still alive then join our fight. Not just because he's the chosen one, it's because he wants to protect us, his friends." She looks at each of them, their eyes filled with fond memories of Harry.
Hermione steps up next to Jane. "This is what Harry would have wanted, his friends gathered together and stick together through the tough times now." She added on to Jane's words. "So as his friends we shall honor his name!" she announced, her words echo in the room for all to hear.
Everyone looked at each other before clapping their hands for their inspirational speech. Hermione looks at Jane and the others, sharing the same smile.
After a while, everyone lined up to sign up for the club. "Thank you for joining us." Hermione smiles, seeing four names down on the clipboard. She smiles at the next person to sign their name on the list.
"I have to say, your speech is inspirational you guys." Anthony Goldstein commented, putting down his name on the list.
Hermione smiles and the compliment. "Thank you mate for that." Ron appreciated the compliment.
"So do you guys have a name for this group?" The Ravenclaw asked the five founders of the Group.
They all look at each other, forgetting to come up with a name for this group. "Uh…" the door opens gaining their attention, "Jamie? Colin?" Jane asked seeing the boys running up to them.
"Jane! We need to talk, it's something that will blow your mind!" Jamie sounded excited; his face was too expressing what he feels now.
"Jamie, what are you saying?" Jane walks up to his little brother, wonder what made him so riled up.
The rest walks behind Jane, wanting to know what made the Gryffindor boys excited. "Not here, somewhere private," Colin suggested as they come to terms with their request.
Soon they found an empty room that the Room of Requirements provided on Colin and Jamie's need for privacy. "So what is so important that it needs to be private?" Hermione asked her lower classmen.
"It's Saber, the one without the mask. The one we met in the basement at Uncle Sirius's home." Jamie explains to the Golden Trio.
They remember that man with white hair and a sword on his side. "Yeah, what about him?" Ron asked the young boys.
Jamie went on and explain the whole incident with the Caster of Eden and Ritsuka in the forest. Even with the statue that was clearly stronger than they are. "Then Ritsuka ordered Saber to use something they called a Noble Phantom." He concluded his tale.
"A Noble Phantasm, you said it wrong Jamie." Colin corrected his friend on the pronunciation. "Anyways when he used that, we portkeyed into a foreign land." He added to the story.
The red-haired boy nodded, "Yeah, and when he pulled his sword fire came out and he slashed the statue turning it to ash!" Jamie cheered, never seeing anything like that before.
Ron and Jane look at Hermione, knowing she might have an input on what they described. The bushy-haired girl closes her eyes, trying to find a reasonable explanation. "From what you describe Jamie, Colin it seems that Saber used some kind of rare type of magic," she spoke out on what she believed.
They all look at her with a dead stare, she jumps seeing the look in their eyes. "H-Hey this all new to me, I never heard anything like this before," Hermione said to the four. "If anything I'm pretty sure you two weren't supposed to see that." She looks at the young boys.
Both Colin and Jamie scratches their head, ashamed that they snuck out. "W-Well I just wanted to see if Hagrid was back, then we saw Ritsuka entering the forest and you know the rest." Jamie tries to make a joke out of his situation they were in.
Jane sighs at how reckless Jamie is, much like Harry was. However, he did have a point regarding what he just saw. "Even if that was reckless of you Jamie, but you did bring up something interesting." She commented.
"What's that?" Ron asked the red-haired girl. "What can be more interesting than a flaming sword that destroyed a living statue?" He asked thinking that part was cool in Jamie's story.
"Other than Saber's weapon," Jane looks at her friends with two questions that need answering. "What was Ritsuka doing in the Forbidden Forest and how they were able to defeat that monster?"
AN: I was wondering what name is good for this DA, since Ginny was the one who named it in the books and movies and now can't, due to her personality. Please leave a comment or review.
