Shisui Uchiha and Sakura Haruno….A Love Story
The first time Sakura Haruno had laid eyes on Shisui Uchiha she was six years young. He was a pretty boy to look at, she had decided. He processed a pretty smile and pretty eyes and lovely laugh that she could listen to all day. It was a laugh that was meant to make others smile. So, she didn't understand when her classmate, Sasuke Uchiha, didn't smile or laugh with the older boy, but instead scowled something fierce. It was a look she was quite familiar with when she had bested him in a test or gave the correct answer in class, to which he had given the incorrect answer for. Yes, she was quite familiar with that scowl. It was then that older boy had said something to Sasuke that made him smile a grand smile. What was said, she wasn't sure. However, if someone could get Sasuke the scowler to smile, they were worth her attention. The older boy had glanced up from his two younger companions and locked eyes with the little girl. His smile became even bigger, if there was any way possible because his smile was quite big. Shisui waved at the little girl and chuckled when quickly turned away from him with a large blush appearing on her cheeks. Yes, he had a very pretty smile and was a very handsome boy, she thought to herself. From there on she had decided that the young Uchiha was one day going to be her husband and that was that.
The following time Sakura had interacted with Shishui Uchiha had been when her mama had passed away. She was ten years young. She had seen him in passing here and there but never enough to interact with him. Sakura had been the little twinkle in Mebuki's eye but had been taken away from her daughter too soon. The official story that was released was a burglar had broken into the Haruno residence and left one victim behind. That victim was unfortunately Mebuki Haruno. Little Sakura knew that wasn't the true story because she had been there that night. Sakura knew her parents had little squabbles here and there like all couples did, but it wasn't until that night she knew the true extent to everything. But by then it was too late. She didn't say anything to anyone in fear her papa would find out and he strictly told her she was not to say anything to anyone. Young Sakura was bound and determined to not a say because she didn't want to find out what would happen, and she didn't. She didn't even utter a single word when the Uchiha police had come to investigate. They wrote it off as her being in shock when she couldn't answer any questions. Shisui had been there as one of the officers, but she didn't mention any of the events that took place that night. Sakura wanted to tell Shishui what happen but didn't.
She next saw, the now you man, at her mama's funeral with Sasuke's family. It was a little surprising to the young girl that they had attended the funeral. Sasuke the scowler and Sakura became friends of the sorts but still held out their little friendly competition in the classroom. So, it was somewhat of a shock to see the head Uchiha family in attendance considering they were not that close of friends. It was later she discovered, that Sasuke was very adamant the family attend and support his friend in her mourning period. She was thankful to the Uchihas for their presence and would be in the future as well. She was secretly glad Shisui had shown up as well. She turned away from the family and smiled to herself before leading them to her papa. It was a little off putting to Shisui that the young girl appeared to be a little squeamish and even nervous as she led them to her father. He wrote it off as the nerves from the events that took place leading up to present. Instead of commenting on her actions, he gave her a small encouraging smile that made her flush a bright red across her cheeks before she ran off with his little cousin.
In the years following the passing off Sakura's mother, things got a little harder for Sakura. If anyone happen to notice they didn't comment on it, instead they only gave her those darn pity smiles that she hated so much. She had received enough of those when her mother died, she didn't need anymore. Those smiles didn't bring her mother back. Consequently, as time went on Sakura was slowly pulling away from everyone and gone was the happy-go-lucky child everyone was familiar with. The only few people she felt comfortable enough to relax around was the Uchiha family when she was invited over by Sasuke. It was there where she would catch glances of her friend's older cousin and every time their eyes would clash, a big smile gorgeous smile would erupt on the older boy's face. Of course, Sakura would quickly look away and a slight blush would form on her cheeks. Sakura was fortunate enough to be on the same genin team as Sasuke, to which it allowed her to become a more permeant fixture in the Uchiha household. Much to Sasuke's mother's delight, Sakura was over to visit as much as she possibly could, and Mikoto highly encouraged it.
The third member of Sasuke and Sakura team was a young boy by the name of Naruto Uzamaki, of whom could be quite obnoxious much to Sakura's dismay. However, she wouldn't trade her team for the world, and that also sorrowfully included their lazy sensei. Sakura was quite a stickler when it came to missions and training of such. So it irked her to no ends when their sensei, Kakashi Hatake would appear out of thin air hours after the agreed upon meeting time and claim some idiotic event took place. She was seriously starting to doubt the Leaf Village had that many old ladies that needed help with different tasks. She was starting to believe he lived in a nursing home or a community for the elderly. It could be plausible, she reasoned with herself, that man did have gray hair and it would explain why he was capable of finding every old lady in need of assistance. Yes, that had to be it. However, she couldn't make out why the Hokage would assign the older man to their team if he was indeed part of one of the many communities for the village eldery that seemed to be inside of the village. She decided that she would ask Sasuke's papa during dinner, he knew everything, so he must know why the Hokage would assign an old man to their team if he was supposed to be in his retirement.
"Papa Uchiha, I have a question," Sakura had started off. The first time Sakura had called Sasuke's papa 'Papa Uchiha' she thought Sasuke's eyes were going to fall out of his head with how big they got, and he even started sputtering too, which made her think that Sasuke had a stutter. Then she thought he was a really good ninja if he was able to hide a stutter, but that was not the case when Sasuke the scowler, his name at the time, came back to life and corrected her. However, much to the surprise of all present Uchihas, Sasuke's papa, Fugaku Uchiha looked down at her gave her a small smile and a pat on her head. Ever since that day, Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha had been known as Papa Uchiha and Mama Uchiha. Secretly they both took delight in the names and Mikoto's heart warmed at the names their unofficial daughter had bestowed upon them.
"Go on." Fugaku was used to the endless amount of questions Sakura had seem to conjure up form nowhere. The little girl had a special ability to turn nothing into something with the number of questions she had. But he supposed she was a growing girl with the curiosity of life nipping at her heels, lord knows her actual father wouldn't spare the time of day for his only daughter. Fagaku had run into Sakura's father enough times to know he was an avid drinker and could care less about his daughter. So Fagaku took it upon himself to make sure Sakura had a place to escape should the drinking develop into something more. It appeared this time, her questioning was quite serious because her facial expressions were very serious, and she looked a little troubled by whatever was causing her such distress.
"Papa Uchiha, is Kakashi-sensei an old man?" A snort of laughter was poorly contained by his nephew, and he could see his oldest son, Itachi, and his wife were both smiling into their tea. Sasuke, on the other hand was engrossed in the conversation was eagerly awaiting his father's answer. He too was curious. He was also curious about their sensei's mask and what was hidden behind the mask. But he reasoned, if Sakura's theory is correct, then Kakashi-sensei was probably hiding his wrinkles. Which he thought would be a stupid reason to wear a mask. It was totally uncool and annoying if that was the reason.
"Well, I suppose he is older than you so that would make him an older man to you, Sakura. He would be an old man to a young child such as yourself." Fagaku silently patted himself on the back. His answer should be enough to sedate her curiosity.
"No, no, I mean like an old old man. You know, like a grandpa's age." Fagaku let out a slow sigh and looked around the table. How was he supposed to reply to this? His nephew, Shisui looked like he was ready to burst into laughter but didn't for Sakura's sake. His serene wife looked like she wasn't that far behind Shisui, and his oldest son had only let a smile out. Sasuke was patiently looking to his father wanting to know the answer.
"Sakura, just what about Kakashi makes you think he's an old man." He was trying to understand the mind of a fresh genin but he was no Yamanaka, the inner workings of the mind was their specialty not the Uchihas. He was close to grasping at straws at this point because for the life of him, he could not understand why she would think Kakashi Hatake was an old man. To make matters worse, she even roped his youngest son into this charade!
"Well, Papa Uchiha, Kakashi-sensei has gray hair and only old people have gray hair. And he's always late too, really really late. Secretly I think he has the early onset of alzheimer's, which is called dementia. I learned that in the new medcial textbook I'm reading. Oh, and when he does show up, he always says he's helping old ladies with groceries or carrying stuff for them and walking them across the street. There can only be so many old ladies in the Leaf Village, Papa Uchiha, even I know that. So that leads me to think he either lives in a nursing home or a home for really old people, you know where only all old people live. But he should probably be in a nursing home if he has dementia. I didn't think of that, did you, Sasuke?" She looked over at Sasuke who shook his head, but whole-heartedly agreed with Sakura. He was nodding his along with all the valid points she was making, leading him to agree with Sakura's conclusion. "Oh, and he reads books with ladies that don't have any clothes on either, so he'd be a pervy old man too. Right, Sasuke?" Again, Sasuke nodded and agreed with his teammate. "Papa Uchiha, why would the Hokage put us on a team with an old man who has dementia?" Fagaku was dumbfounded. Shishui had lost it and started laughing, cackling really, when Sakura had drawn to the conclusion that Kakashi had dementia. Her statement had made him shutter, not only could Sakura turn nothing into something, but she was also now learning medical terminology and applying it to, what in her mind, was real life experience. Next, she was going to think she was a doctor! He needed to put a stop to this now before it got out of hand.
"That is very good display of ninja skills, dear." Mikoto had commented after she recovered from her fit of laughter. Sakura smiled as wide as her pretty little face could handle.
"Thank you, Mama Uchiha!" Sakura was very pleased with herself.
"Now, dear, don't encourage her. Shisui, quit laughing and sit up straight, this is a serious matter." Fagaku was trying to remain calm, but Sakura had a way of ruffling his feathers from time to time and would get him in a tizzy. This was one of those times.
"But it was a fine display of skills, Father. Sakura gathered her information by observing over a period of time and used deductive reasoning to come to her conclusion. Although, a little far-fetched, she is looking out for the success of her team and ultimately the safety of the Leaf Village. Not to mention, she was also able to incorporate the knowledge she learned from the book you gifted her." Itachi always chose those precise moments to get under his father's skin. While Sakura maybe as far from the truth as she could possibly get, it was good practice using her ninja skills. He had to give her credit for her effort. However, he would have to work with her and Sasuke both, so next time they would have a more accurate and appropriate conclusion when they try this foolish farce again.
"Thank you, 'Tachi." Sakura was quite sure of herself. Sasuke and her had practiced how she would present her data to Papa Uchiha. Sasuke was sure that she had a sound argument with the evidence that they had complied as a team. It was unfortunate that Naruto wasn't able to join his two teammates as they approached Papa Uchiha on the subject. He had pulled a prank by painting on the monuments that overlooked the village again and had to clean it up with their sensei monitoring him.
While she wasn't too happy Shisui was laughing at her presentation because this was a serious matter, she like to hear the pretty young man laugh and see him smile. Young Shisui had grown into a handsome young man that made the ladies swoon, much to her dismay. But it was no matter to her. She was determined to grow into an accomplished ninja and medcial ninja at that. She would have to wait a time before approaching Shisui.
"Now, Sakura, your sensei is not an old man, nor does he have dementia. In fact, Kakashi is only a few years older than Shisui, and he's not an old man, is he?" Her smile started to drop slowly and shook her head. Fagaku nodded and continued on, "Kakashi has always had gray, even when he was a young child. Now, I don't know exactly where he lives but I can confidently say he does not live in a nursing home or a housing community for elders. Do you understand? Kakashi Hatake is an accomplished ninja and has served his village for many many years, so it is an honor to have him as yours and Sasuke's teacher." Sakura was sure that she had it right this time, but Papa Uchiha knew everything so he couldn't be wrong. She dropped her shoulders and sank back into her chair. She let out a quiet little 'oh' and went back to eating.
"Ah, don't worry about it, Pink, you'll get it right next time. Itachi and Auntie and even I was impressed with your skills. Sometimes it doesn't turn out the way we want it to. Itachi and I will help you guys out next time, how's that sound, Pink?" Sakura's confidence came back a little at her pretty boy's words and smiled up at him and nodded. He was right, she decided, and he was a police officer and an official ninja so he would know more than her. She would get it right next time and her pretty boy would help her. At that thought she blushed and smiled to herself.
Fagaku let out a long sigh and nodded his head before returning to his dinner. He didn't know if he would survive Sakura's next round of questioning if his son and nephew were going to go well out of their way to help the young girl. No, he would have to get to her first before she becomes as conniving and sneaky as those two. That's the last thing that he needed. Lord help him, he was going to need it – especially if his wife has her way.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Reviews and constructive criticism is always welcome.
