Chapter 3

The train arrived at dark, in Hogsmeade station, so of course the Children could not see anything as they stepped off the train onto the platform. After they all gathered, they all heard a deep baritone voice calling for all the first years.

"First years over here,' said a giant of a man waving a lantern. "Is that everyone, well let's be off." (I suck at typing Hagrid's speech, so I am not doing it)

"No more than four to a boat," said the man as he led the first years to a group of boats. Hadrian, Daphne, Pansy, and Theo all got in one boat, while Draco, Hermione, Delphini and Tracy took another while Crabb and Goyal took a third with a dark-skinned boy named Blaise Zambini, and a girl named Millicent Bullstrode. It seemed like a quiet ride while the groups in the boats talked quietly with each other, until gasps started to ring out among those in the boats as the students got their first look at Hogwarts castle. Hadrian and the others could not close their mouths at the magnificent sight. Soon the ride ended, and the students were all led up a set of stairs in front of two large doors. The doors opened and out stepped a stern looking woman.

"The first year's professor McGonagall," said Hagrid.

Thank you, Hagrid, go to the great hall. I will take it from here." Said professor McGonagall, "Welcome to Hogwarts, the start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, but before you take your seats in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. The Sorting is a very important ceremony because, while you are here, your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts."

"The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Each house has its own noble history, and each has produced outstanding witches and wizards. While you are at Hogwarts, your triumphs will earn your house points, while any rule-breaking will lose house points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the House Cup, a great honor. I hope each of you will be a credit to whichever house becomes yours. The Sorting Ceremony will take place in a few minutes in front of the rest of the school. I suggest you all smarted yourselves up as much as you can while you are waiting."

Her eyes lingered for a moment on Neville's cloak, which was fastened under his left ear and on Ron who had dirt on his nose. The professor then led the students to a room next to The great Hall and left them there.

The group of future Slytherins all stood quietly waiting with each other, while listening to the different conversations from the other students, at least they did till they all heard Weasley loudly proclaimed about fighting a troll.

"A Troll really Weasel, how can most first years fight a troll, most are not even versed in magic." Asked Draco.

Weasley burned with embarrassment but quickly glared at the group of Slytherins. "What's it to you, ya slimy snake."

"Nothing weasel, at least some of us have some knowledge and respect our ancestry, unlike some others." Said Hermione.

Before Ron could reply a few screams were heard from the back of the gathering of students. Quickly looking the group noticed a group of ghosts flouting over the students.

"I say friar haven't we given Peeves enough chances?" Asked a ghost.

"I…. Well, what do we have here a bunch of first years, well I'm the fat fryer hope to see you in my house Hufflepuff," said the now named fat fryer.

"Not likely" whispered Draco in Hermione's ear, as she tried not to laugh out loud.

"That's enough move along now," came the voice of Professor McGonagall as she shooed the ghosts away, "we are ready for you please follow me."

With that the group of first years followed the stern professor into the great hall where she stopped in front of a tattered and torn hat sitting on a stool, it looked like a normal old hat until it ripped at the brim and started to sing. Hadrian wasn't sure what to think about this had so he just raised an eyebrow on his emotionless face. He looked at his friends and noticed they had similar expressions on their faces as well. When the hat finished its song, it bowed to the four tables before the great hall erupted into thunderous applause.

"When I call your name please step forward so that the hat may sort you" said McGonagall looking at the students as she unfolded a piece of parchment.

"Abbot Hannah"

A young girl walked up looking nervous as she sat on the stool and put on the hat. It was about 30 seconds before the hat called,

"HUFFLEPUFF"

With that the sorting started, Hadrian tuned out most of the names that were called, he only listened when his friends were called up, the first was Crabb who went into Slytherin, then a few names later Tracy followed. Eventually it got to the G's where Goyal and Daphne both went to slathered, followed by Draco, then Theo, and Pansy as the last in his group. Then….

"Riddle Delphini" called McGonagall, and Hadrian had to stop himself from laughing as Dumbledore almost fell out of his seat. It wasn't long before the hat called out Slytherin and Delphini joined their friends sitting at the Slytherin table.

"Riddle Hadrian" he walked up with a smirk and looked directly at Dumbledore who was so pale it looked like he was imitating a ghost. The last thing he saw was the great hall looking at him before the hat fell over his eyes. It wasn't long before the hat called Slytherin for all to hear as Hadrian joined his friends at the Slytherin table.

"Riddle Hermione" called McGonagall, this was all it took for Dumbledore to pass out in shock looking white as a sheet. The teachers at the staff table all looked worriedly as Madam Pomfrey reacted quickly. Seeing that he was in no real danger she levitated him out of the room the sorting continued as Hermione was sorted into Slytherin. The rest of the students that were left were sorted and McGonagall stood up at the staff table.

"Seeing as how Professor Dumbledore has seen fit to leave, I will do a welcoming speech. So welcome all both returning students as well as our new students. The list of restricted items has increased, to see the full list you can go to Mr. Filch's office. I would also like to inform you that the forbidden forest is as the name says forbidden. Some of our older students would do well to remember that," she said as she looked to a couple of redhead twins that were sitting at the Gryffindor table with not-so-innocent smirks on their face. "that is all I have to say for now so tuck in."

At her words the tables in the great hall filled with food of all kinds, and as the students started eating, the conversations started gradually getting louder as a steady amount of noise filled the great hall.

"Did you see the look on the old coot's face after your names were called," Said Draco, looking towards the riddles.

"Yes, and I'm sure you know that he knows about Hadrian so he must be pulling out what remains of his hair trying to figure out where we fall into the equation. If he were to continue believing that Mother is Tom Riddle, then he might believe that besides Lilly Bellatrix would be mine and Delphine's mother." Said Hermione.

"That's true, so he might assume Voldemort is my father, his plan to have me beaten and moldable because of the Dursleys is now out of the window." Said Hadrian.

"I say the best thing for us to do is play it by ear and see how things develop." Said Delphini.

The group nodded their heads in consent and finished their meal before the Slytherin prefects called all the first years. They followed the prefects to the dungeons where they were led to a corridor on the opposite of where the potions classroom was located. As they got to the end of the corridor it seemed like a dead end till one of the prefects spoke the password and made sure all of the first years knew that the password was serpents.

"Welcome all first years, to the Slytherin common room. I'm fifth year prefect Marcus flint. As I'm sure some of you have heard, Slytherin is viewed as a dark house, and while most of us lean towards the darker curses and spells does not make us evil. While in Slytherin you settle disputes here in the common room, outside we have to show a united front or else the other houses would tear into us. Due to our reputation the only ones we can trust are other Slytherins." Said Marcus flint.

"As Marcus said we can only trust each other so watch your back." Said another prefect.

With that said they sent the first years to their dooms. What Hadrian was glad for was that they all had their own rooms, so after saying good night to his sisters and friends he pulled the covers over him and fell asleep with an evil smile on his face. If anyone saw it, it would have sent chills down their spine in fear of what's to come.

-meanwhile in the hospital wing-

Albus Dumbledore woke with a start, it took him a moment to gain his bearings when he realized he was in the hospital wing.

'It was probably just a dream, there is no way that Harry found out who he was, I'm sure that he was still at the Dursleys' thought Dumbledore.

Just as he finished his train of thought he heard the door open and saw that it was the school nurse Madam Pomfrey herself. She looked at him with a frown as he let his grandfather persona take over so that he could find out how he had ended up in the hospital wing.

"Ah, Madam Pomfery, what had happened that I ended up in your care of the hospital wing?" he asked with a grandfatherly smile.

"Well it seems that at the sorting you had experienced a heart attack, it happened after three names were called, I'm assuming they were triplets all with the surname Riddle, is that a coincidence?" asked the Nurse.

"No, I'm afraid that I do not recognize the name, am I alright to leave now?" he asked.

"Yes, you are but I recommend that you be careful as this was an unexpected event. I recommend that you do nothing stressful for the next six months just to be safe that something like this does not happen again." she answered.

"Very well, I must be off. Said Dumbledore as he made his way to his office, with many thoughts around his head. All of them concerning Harry and how he discovered that 'tom' was his father.

-the next day-

It was breakfast time in the great hall, and all the students were at their tables and discussing among themselves as they talked about what happened last night and class schedules. But one group of first years were discussing what the plan was to keep a certain old fool off their backs and make sure they do good in their studies this year.

"I think that we need to keep our heads down to keep Dumbledore off our backs, at least until we get settled and find what we came here for." said Hermione, to the nods of the others.

With that said the rest of their group finished eating in relative silence, before deciding to explore the castle as it was Sunday and classes did not start till tomorrow. So, the group all made their way out of the great hall and throughout the endless corridors of the castle. Well they did until they turned and ran right into the 'Esteemed' Headmaster himself.

"Why hello, what are all you young students doing here?" asked Dumbledore.

"We were just exploring so that we were not late when we have class starting tomorrow." Replied Hermione smoothly.

"Yes, well have fun, also do avoid the third floor corridor on the right hand side," smiled Dumbledore.

As he walked off he hid his smirk, not noticing the unimpressed looks he was getting from the group. Thinking that he has outplayed a bunch of, in his mind, Kids. He has no idea how wrong it was. The group waited till he walked away and around the corner.

"Does he think we are stupid little kids? Kids that he can manipulate to die for his whims?" asked Daphne.

"I guess he does," replied Harry with a smirk, as he thought about how senile the old man was.

The other kids nodded and laughed as they realized that this might be a little too easy to beat Dumbledore. With that in mind they left and headed back to their common room.

-Time skip Halloween-

It was time for the Halloween Feast, most of the purebloods were disappointed that Hogwarts took away Samhain, a time for remembering the dead, for the muggle holiday of Halloween. It disgusted many of the Slytherins. But they keep quiet as they know when the war is over and the ashes have set, only one side will have victory, and it will be the side with the most powerful people on it. Who is more powerful than the children of the embodiment of chaos?

The great hall was mostly quiet except for the idle chatter from the students at the feast, that silence was broken by the doors bursting open and in running Quirrell. Harry, Hermione, and Delphini were curious as they knew Quirrell worked for their parents.

"Troll...Troll in the Dungeon… thought you out to know." said Quirrell, running to the staff table, before fainting.

The students started to panic and were screaming, running around the great hall till Dumbledore fired off shots from his wand.

"Prefects, please lead your fellow housemates back to the dorm." he said, "the teachers will deal with this problem."

"What about us Slytherins, our dorms are in the Dungeons?" asked Hermione, with a smug look in her eyes looking at Dumbledore, who had the decency to look ashamed.

"I seem to have forgotten that, Slytherins, you will stay here in the great hall." He replied, though the group of first year Slytherins can see that there is barely veiled anger behind his eyes.

With that said the rest of the students left the great hall Harry had to hold back a smirk. Because even with the facade of a kind grandfather that Dumbledore played, he was still a schemer at heart and hated it when things do not go as planned. Now they just had to wait…

'BOOM'

Harry's thoughts were cut off as a loud banging noise came from the door. Everyone looked to the door as the prefects all moved into action.

"Everyone behind us," said Marcus Flint, a Slytherin fourth year, as the older years moved to protect the younger years.

Just then the doors opened and in walked a troll welding a huge club. The dumb creature looked around the room before its eyes fell upon the Slytherins all huddled together in the corner of the great hall. It roared at them before raising its club and started to charge at the helpless group of students. The Slytherins were too focused on the charging troll to notice Harry's eyes glowing an ethereal purple, except for Hermione and Delphini as they felt the shift in their brother's power.

Harry with glowing eyes clenched his fist as Purple shards of something formed behind the troll, flying into its back killing it as it stopped and fell in front of the students, leaving all unharmed.

The students all looked around not seeing what could have happened. Harry was doing his best to look like a scared first year, as most of the Death Eater families know nothing of his father, and his mother's wanted to keep it that way.

It was at this time that the teachers finally decided to show up in the great hall. Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Snape. Snape was the first to recover as the shards started to fade.

"Mellissa, what happened here?" Snape asked one of the Seventh year Prefects, Millissa Carrow.

"I am not exactly sure myself. We all holed up in the great hall as ordered, most just milling about and talking in groups. Then we heard a loud bang and huddled everyone at the corner, with the younger years behind the older years. Then the doors burst open and the troll came in, it saw us roared at us and charged. We thought we were dead, but as it was charging those strange purple shards appeared out of thin air before stabbing it in the back, killing it." she said as calmly as possible while pointing to the last fading shard, one that Dumbledore was examining.

"Very well, I want all of you to be looked at by madam Pomfery, well clean up this mess." Replied Snape, before looking at Hadrian with a look that said 'we will talk about this later,' to which Hadrian only nodded.

After getting checked by the Nurse the Slytherins were released and headed back to the dorm to get some sleep.
