Smaragdus arcanum Lunam

"Harry," Edward approached his love. Harry had been standing by the window looking out to the vast emerald forest from the tallest turret of Hogwarts Castle.
"Mm," Harry responded softly. "Do you remember once the forest was dark and there was so much death in the shadows?"
Edward wrapped his arms around Harry's waist, resting his chin on his love's shoulder. "Yes. That was a thousand years ago. But I remember as clear as it was yesterday." He gazed out to the top canopy of the rolling trees spreading the floor of the valley. The Black Lake glittered in the sun that was dipping toward the horizon. He moved to stand behind Harry and wrap his arms around his lover's tapered waist, resting his chin on one shoulder, his cheek pressed softly against Harry's ear and cheek. "So much changed since we first met. And yet, some remain the same."
Harry turned in Edward's arms, facing his lover. He took in the golden eyes that he loves to fall deep into. His hand crept up to cup the pale cheek that never had stubbles and caressed the soft skin lovingly. Edward gave his usual crooked smile that never failed to make his knees weak. A thousand years had passed, and they had not changed one bit, appearance-wise, but everything else, they had. They were no longer young vampires with a thirst for life, curiosity of the world, and full of the fight if needed. Now they were older, beautiful, and mysteriously ancient. The world had changed around them, yet their love remained strong. They felt as if they were trapped in a time-turner, watching as the world speed by around them, and they were achingly slow, taking in each other, memorizing every moment, and loving one another.
After the trial had ended, Harry and Edward went to the Burrow with the Cullens to celebrate their freedom. The Weasleys were nervous about being around multiple vampires but quickly dashed as the Cullens proved themselves to be friendly and loving. The twins befriended both Jasper and Emmett, much to Alice and Rosalie's exasperation. Hermione, Ginny, and Fleur found kinship with Alice, Rosalie, and Esme, becoming longtime friends afterward, supporting each other in their life as sisters and mothers.
The Cullens returned to Forks, leaving behind Edward and Harry in England. Once Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett graduated from Forks High, they returned to England, uprooting their home in the Olympics. Carlisle became a new medi-wizard for the new extension at the St. Mungos, specializing in magical creatures that range from werewolves, vampires to trolls and giants. He remained a doctor for St. Mungos for nearly six hundred years before retiring.
Rosalie and Emmett started up a wizarding automobile business with their love for automobiles and inspiration from Arthur Weasley's Ford Anglia. Alice became the fashion guru for the wizarding world, introducing the top fashions line to the wizards worldwide. Eventually, she took over Madame Malkin's shop once the owner passed and settled in Hogsmeade with Jasper. Jasper became a highly valued consultant with the Aurors, hunting down criminal wizards and magical creatures. Esme remained motherly to all, keeping busy with involving in the women's circles. To everyone's surprise, she became a close friend with Narcissa Malfoy of all people.
With the full support of her friends and new extended family of vampires, Hermione became a force to be recognized in the Ministry of Magic, starting out in the Department of Magical Creatures. She turned the laws over and revolutionized the wizarding world, making them more aware of the magical creatures, paving paths to become part of the wizarding world, and uniting them all. She became the youngest and the first muggle-born witch Minister of Magic. She remained in office for four terms before deciding to retire in the last part of her life with her family. She reformed the Wizengamots, requiring seats for the different races of magical creatures. Carlisle sat for the vampire for a very long time until Edward took over.
Ron Weasley turned down the offer to become an Auror and went to work with George and Fred, helping them to set up stores across the globe. Hermione and Ron married and had two children, Rose and Hugo. Both Ron and Hermione lived to the ripe old age of two hundred and thirty. When they died, Harry mourned for a long time. They were his brother and sister in his heart. His vampire family mourned with him but helped him to get over the mortality of his mortal family.
Edward remained in touch with Bella and Jacob despite their rocky start. They became very close and good friends over the years. Bella married Jacob once they finished high school and were happy. The Quileute no longer had new wolves shape-changers since the Cullens had left the Olympics. They had three children and named the second son Edward Harry. Both Edward and Harry were frequent visitors to Washington, becoming the doting uncles to many wolves' children. Edward Harry, or Eddie, grew up and imprinted on Rose Weasley. He moved to England and married Rose, and they went on having a family of their own. One of Rose's children died tragically, leaving very young twin sons, Romulus and Remus, without parents. Harry and Edward stepped in and adopted them, raising them as their own.
The Volturi didn't remain silent throughout the years. They occasionally reached out to Harry and Edward, inviting them to join the Volturi coven. It came to a head around six hundred years later that Aro made a mistake. He dared to entice Harry and Edward to join their coven by turning several wizards. Harry was enraged and took care of the Volturi, punishing them by taking out Aro and several other members of the clan that sided with him, which unfortunately included Caius, his wife, Jane, Alex and Felix, and several others. It left the clan crippled, nearly halved, and with one leader to lead them, Marcus. After that, the Volturi clan became weaker, and both Harry and Edward became the head of the world vampire, ruling with steel gloves to maintain the peace.
After nearly a century of traveling the world and watching families grow up around him, Harry finally accepted the Defense Against Dark Arts professor position. He remained for the next hundred fifty years. With his passion for literacy, Edward joined Harry at Hogwarts, taking over Madam Pince's position, running the library. Minerva McGonagall was the headmistress for a long time until her death, and then Filius Flitwick took over for several decades. Harry became the first vampire Headmaster of Hogwarts and kept office for nearly two hundred years. Finally, he decided it was time to step down, allowing Lily Narcissa Malfoy, Remus Potter-Cullen's daughter who married Ares Malfoy, Draco Malfoy's grandson, to take over as headmistress.
The bell tolled, signaling the time for dinner. Harry and Edward listened as the doors opened and patterns of hundreds of children's feet stamping the stone floor across the castle. Generations upon generations, they watched over them, taught them, and raised them.
Harry turned to Edward. "Yes, thousands of years. It's been so long. The darkness has ceased and everything is right."
Edward smiled and waved his hand, summoning the invisibility cloak silently. It swished across the room and landed in his hand. "It's time."
Harry took the cloak in his hands, feeling the fabric. It had been his friend for an eon. Several times, he loaned it out to the next generations, only to take it back when their time came to an end. It had never faded or became threadbare. It looked new as it was when it first was created two thousand years before.
Harry inhaled and exhaled a long sigh. They were the last of the vampires in the world; their families had long gone to dust. The Cullens, one by one, decided to pass on over the past several centuries. Carlisle and Esme were the first, approaching both Edward and Harry, expressing their wishes to move on. Harry had been heartbroken but understood and granted them their wishes. He used his power as the Master of Death, turning them to ashes. Then it was Rosalie and Emmett. They felt they did not want to endure any more heartaches, having adopted and raised so many children. They, too, passed on. Then finally, Jasper and Alice had requested to pass on as well, not too long ago. They had, like Rosalie and Emmett, raised many orphaned children and watched over their families. Edward and Harry remained for as long they could until they were the last. They had agreed to move on when they were ready.
"It is," Harry replied. He looked up to his lover's golden eyes. He raised his hand and caressed the smooth cheek, and leaned in, kissing the lips softly. There was so much passion and love in the kiss. Edward curled his arm around Harry's waist and held him close, returning the kiss. It was simple of lips sliding against each other. Nothing more was needed.
Finally, they broke apart. Harry curled his arm around Edward's neck, resting his forehead against Edward's. "A long time ago, Albus Dumbledore once said to me, 'Death is the next greatest adventure.'"
"Indeed," Edward agreed.
Harry and Edward held up the fabric together. With a single nod, they pulled it apart with their immense strength. The material ripped, sparks flew, and finally, the threads started to disintegrate in the air, fading away to nothing. The last of the Hallow was destroyed.
"Time to greet an old friend," Harry murmured against Edward's lips before stepping back, holding his hand. They walked to their ornate bed. They stripped down to their skins in silence, touching and softly caressing as they went along. Finally, Harry pulled back the thick cover and slipped in. Edward climbed in next to him and laid his head back. He turned to Harry and grasped his hand once again. His thumb caressed the back of Harry's hand, feeling the smooth pale skin. Their hands intertwined, holding onto each other.
"Smaragdus arcanum Lunam," Edward whispered, gazing into the emerald orbs that held his heart and soul. "My mysterious emerald moon. Thank you for a wonderful life."
Harry nodded once, taking in the beauty of his love. They had never looked older than seventeen. He brushed the bronze hair that fell into Edward's eyes. He loved the golden orbs that were like the blazing sun, that occasionally eclipsed. He replied, "Thank you for the love you've given me."
"Forever," Edward exhaled.
"Always," Harry whispered.
They closed their eyes for the last time. They had lived a thousand years, watching generations come and go. Their love never faded but grew strong, and they became legendary.
The dark figure of Death stepped away from the end of the bed. Two figures stepped up to him, and then he shrouded his long arm around them, greeting them like an old friend.
