Two human villagers arrived on a large island with a shopping center, courtesy of Dodo Airlines. The brown-haired girl, named Tsumugi, wore a green sleeveless parka, navy blue denim cutoffs, and brown tortoise specs. The blue-haired boy, Jackson, wore a red bulldog jacket and black slacks. From what they could see, this area was like a combination of the city where Kapp'n used to drove people to and Tortimer Island. Earlier, they agreed to meet each other at the (indoor) food court to discuss plans for a football tournament.
"So where is this food court you told us to visit to continue our discussion?" asked Jackson, with a lack of enthusiasm.
Tsumugi pointed at their destination, smiling. "Right next to Phineas' arcade! It's not too far."
The food court was large, and it was built with red plastic-reinforced bricks and metal. The sign was a pig with a chef's hat, red bow tie, and curly mustache, and below was the name of The Grubs. The door was made of reinforced glass with metallic handles.
The boy scratched his head. "Hmm, I suppose that court looks pretty neat. Alright, we can make a quick lunch break, but after that, back to work."
The duo went inside and saw various animals were eating different foods like pizza, curry, burritos, and pancakes on the tables. Tom Nook and Isabelle were also present, eating noodles. Then, the humans spotted a variety of restaurants to choose from. From left to right, eateries served breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, and dessert. Options for protein included legumes, eggs, dairy, seafood and fish, insects, and faux meat. However, none of them served actual land meat!
The girl looked at one of the vendors of an Italian theme. "Look, they're serving eggplant and mushroom pasta. Along with spinach and lentil lasagna."
Jackson groaned. "Tsumugi, is there anything that isn't just bland vegetables?"
A blue wolf, Wolfgang, walked past the duo. "Well, I know there's a breakfast eatery that serves rice omelets."
"Already had eggs for breakfast, so pass."
The girl continued, "what about the seafood? Wow, they've got clam chowder and fish meunière, like the ones from Turkey day."
The boy pinched his nose. "Nah, too smelly."
"Then how about something more adventurous?" She looked at the cricket tacos and mealworm fried rice.
"Nope! Too creepy." Jackson stuck out his tongue and shuddered.
"Well, there's a place that serves plates with vegan steak, made with soy and vital gluten."
Jackson reacted with a facepalm. "Nope, too rubbery. Come on, is there anything that has meat in it?" He then realized something. "Oh, wait, I remember something." Jackson opened his backpack and brought out a red lunchbox. He opened the box, revealing food with meat. "Good thing I brought these meatloaf sandwiches, buffalo wings, and pork rinds."
Tsumugi's jaw dropped. "...Um, where did you get all that stuff?"
"Oh, I work as a butcher when I'm not on our island," replied the boy casually. "I also made the food all by myself. Don't worry, the animals weren't civilized, probably."
One of the villagers, a human, stared at the duo's meaty food with a shocked face. "Wait, did you just say, meatloaf and wings!? And pork rinds!?"
Then, the rest of the crowd stared with wide eyes, quietly. Everyone was horrified.
Coach, a yellow bull, pointed at the meaty sandwiches. "Dude, is that meatloaf made of my cousins or something, stubble?"
"Don't tell me those wings came from my parents, chicky-poo!" cried Plucky, a brown chicken with a blue head.
"Those pork rinds must be what's left of my ex-girlfriend, schnort," whimpered Boris, a blue pig with a pink nose and lower fangs. "You must be one sick villager!"
Screaming in horror, the animal villagers left behind their food and ran out of the food court. They wanted to get away from Jackson. Then, both human villagers were thrown out by the food court manager, far away.
"Get outta here, both of youse!" shouted the manager, who was a rat with a necktie. He angrily points at a gold plaque saying, NO OUTSIDE FOOD, ESPECIALLY WITH MEAT. "Can't ya meat-eaters read the doggone sign?"
The girl stared at the boy. "Why do I have the feeling you're not actually from around here, Jackson?"
The boy remarked, "well, this is the last time we meat each other at that place." Then, he proceeded to eat his lunch, much to the girl's discomfort. "Say, after the football game, you want to go hunting in the wilderness sometime? It's one of my favorite hobbies, an opportunity for good eats."
Tsumugi reacted with a facepalm.
