Notes: A race lost to time. Millennia before the rise of the protheans, there was another race. They came about in the aftermath of one of the many purges orchestrated by the Reapers, in a galaxy recently brought back to zero. Situated on a moon of the gas giant, Anjea, they were highly-isolationist, to the point that few were ever found off-world, save for their mining operations on the nearby asteroid field. What little is known of them comes in the form of legends. They appear to have been a highly scientific, and also spiritual, culture. Similar to the asari, they were naturally biotic, but to a much higher degree than the former. They revered the substance known today as element zero, and heavily mined a nearby asteroid field near Anjea, which was rich in the element. Their biology was highly compatible with the substance, leading to centuries of experimentation amongst their population. After countless generations, they were nearly unrecognizable as a species. Due to increasing lifespans and slower birthrates, their population had dwindled from billions to less than a hundred, but the survivors were so unrecognizable that one would be hard pressed to even call them the same species as their ancestors. Their biotic capabilities were such that they could manipulate matter at the atomic level, including their own physical make-up, phase through solid objects, halt their aging process, and even receive visions from across space and time. They did not eat; element zero provided everything they needed to survive. Sex was obsolete; being effectively immortal, they had no need to procreate. One would expect such an advanced species to have formed a large empire across the galaxy, but, by this point, they had reached a stage far beyond the desire for conquest. Such concerns were beneath them. The element they had revered was now truly a part of them, and they of it. This generation continued in their experiments and ascended even further. Through their manipulation of mass effect fields, they were able to reduce their mass to the point that their physical bodies became absolute. They were now pure, energetic beings, their essence spread across space and time, observing all that is, all that was, and all that will ever be. No longer having any need for their civilization, it gradually crumpled to dust, leaving no evidence of its, or their, existence. However, some say that some relics of theirs still exist deep within the frigid atmosphere of Anjea, a treasure trove kept just out of reach to all but the most determined. Will life ever discover these being's secrets? Maybe someday, but then again, maybe not.
Character Notes: What is there to say about this individual? I… I mean, they were but one of the last generation of the Ohros. They ascended along with the others of their race, and are now one with them and all else. What am I… I mean, what are they doing right now? Everything, and also nothing. You wouldn't get it. Just know that you aren't actually safe inside your mind, despite what a talking sponge might say.
