Chapter 72: UB Files 02: Blaster

A week after the Nihilego encounter, Anabel called the team to the Aether Foundation, which had become their quasi headquarters. Wicke was there with her to help explain things, while Looker was out investigating a lead.

"After the Symbiont encounter, a startling revelation has come to us: The Ultra Beasts are Pokemon. Ash's Pokedex received an entry for their species, apparently called Nihilego."

The group, aside from those who were there when this took place, quirked an eyebrow at this informtation. That certainly was unexpected.

"This was shocking news to us as well, and gave way to a new line of thought: Could they be rehabilitated? Under the right care, could they be tamed and trained? The Global Police has agreed to let us try, and together with the Aether Foundation we have come up with perfect weapon to use against them."

Wicke went around to each of them, handing out a set of odd looking Pokeballs to each of them, to their confusion.

"A Pokeball?"

"A Beast Ball. Based on the energy readings from the Ultra Wormholes, and the research left over from Team Rocket's takeover of the foundation, we have calibrated them to be able to catch the Ultra Beasts as effectively as possible. Once captured, they'll be instantly be transported to a secure location here where rehabilitation can begin."

Just then, an alarm blared through the base. Wicke pressed some buttons on her tablet, showing up a map of Alola with two blinking dots.

"Two reported sightings on Ula'ula Island: Malie Gardens and Hania Desert."

"Alright team, battle stations! Gladion, Max, and Misty, you go to the Gardens. Iris, May, and Dawn, you head for Hania Desert. Ash, Lillie, Illima, and Brock, you stay here in case there are more sightings. Good luck, team!"

Nodding, the chosen six made way for the docks where their transport was waiting.

Once they reached Malie City, the two groups split up. Max, Illima, and Misty entered the gardens to find a group of four, almost metalic Ultra Beasts tearing up the park as citizens ran away in terror. Max spotted a group of children petrified in fear as a large chunk of debris fell towards them from behind.

"Gardevoir, I Choose You! Use Psychic!"

Max's ace spun around, focusing all her energy to halt the rocks in their tracks before hurling them at one of the Beasts, causing the beast to groan in pain. While it was distracted, Max turned to the rescuees.

"Go, get out of here! We've got this!"

Nodding, the children fled as quickly as possible. By the time Max had returned his attention to the battle at hand, Misty and Gladion were already fighting an uphill battle. While Type: Null and Gyrados though bravely, there was just too many of them. Out of the corner of his eye, Max saw one of them sneak up on Misty's Gyrados.

"Gardevoir, use Dazzling Gleam!"

Quickly, Gardevoir floated up and unleashed a brilliant light from her body, blinding the creature before it could make its move and alerting Misty to the problem at hand.

"Gyrados, Aqua Tail!"

Rapidly, the water type swung around and smashed its tail into the dazed alien, sending it flying, only for Type Null to send it smashing to the ground with a Crush Claw. One Beast Ball later and it was caught.

"Thanks for the save, Max!"

"Thank me later, we got other problems to worry about!"

"Right! Time to pull out our secret weapon, Gyrados!"

Misty raised her arm, brushing her fingers against her mega bracelet, as did Max. A beautiful aura surrounded their Pokémon, mega evolving them into their brilliant forms.

"Alright, lets wrap this up! Gardevoir, use Psybeam!"

"Hydro Pump, Gyrados!"

"Savage Spin Out, Null!"

The three Pokémon unleashed their super charged attacks, hitting their enemies without mercy. Gardevoir managed to knock one out with a wave of psychic energy so hard it cracked the concrete foundations around it, Gyrados's Hydro Pump nearly sent one of them flying, and Type: Null smashed the cocoon wrapped beast into the ground so hard it left a large crater. Once their enemies were down and out, the three trainers caught them all, ending the message.

"Alright, mission accomplished!"

Their Pokedex's buzzed, having updated with a new entry for their new captures.

"Celesteela, the Launch Pokemon. Although its alien to this world and a danger here, its apparently a common organism in the world where it normally lives."

"Woah."

"You can say that again."

"Come on, we'd better get back to base."

Back at Aether Paradise, they met back up with May, Iris, and Dawn, who had also been successful with their mission. Afterwards, they handed over the captured beasts to Anabel and debriefed her on the missions.

"Good work, team. Alola is once again safe from these invaders. Go home and get some rest, you'll need it."

Nodding, the group once again dispersed, glad that they had once again stopped The Ultra Beasts from causing too much harm.
