I own nothing
WanderingMercAsashi – and this makes me bad like the thousands of other people who have made stronger than canon Naruto fanfics, because?
Abbadon44 – well here you go
Sage of the Azure Phoenix – possibly. I'm not as into Pokemon as you used to be.
Habu2010 – glad you liked it
Masterchief1229 – honestly, I was thinking of doing a harem, but I've had a hard time figuring out how. I've realized just throwing girls at the main character is a bad idea, so I think I'll go for just one girl and make it Erza...or Mirajane…I haven't decided yet.
Reem519 – honestly, I'm okay with Bashing fics, mainly because they were the kind that I grew up on when I first became aware of the fandom on this site. I can understand your opinion and I respect. Though…honestly, I thought I was avoiding the cliches here.
Darth56 – glad you enjoyed the change.
Monsterkiller124 – yeah, I can understand where the guest reviews are coming from. Not everyone is going to like what I write. Thanks for that, I may look into it.
Xirons20 – thanks, and I kind of realized that as a random thought when I was writing this story.
Guest – that would be hilarious, but it would probably freak more people out than anything else, and I think it would be more along the lines of, "Hey Igneel, get your scaly butt in gear and go talk to your son, already!"
My 2 guys – glad you liked it
Thegrison – …Naruto was resurrected. Your logic is invalid. Plus, given the large number of stories where Naruto is killed and then revived in some way, I fail to see how this makes any real difference.
Hikari Nova – Yeah…unfortunately, I have a bad habit of writing redundant sentences at times. It is a habit that I am trying to get out of with my stories.
Valash122 – honestly, given the stories I grew up on when I joined this site before writing, girls throwing themselves and randomly getting together with the MC was a big part of my examples. Looking back, I can see it as cheap. And after reading this, it occurred to me that I have NO idea how to effectively write a harem. Do you have any points for this?
On a side note, you do raise a good point. Maybe, separating the tailed beats completely is a bad idea. What would you recommend as a lasting option? Take the beasts and while keeping the powers of them in the villages as a select secret few? Secret guardian society? Memory erasing on a mass scale? I could use a bit of help here.
Landon Turoski – here you go
Yudhazebba – here you go
Ricee – it can be tedious, and I didn't think it was that hard to follow. This chapter will take place in Fiore entirely, with some Konoha at the end and for good reason. You'll see why.
Reaper – Yeah.
Chapter 19: Aftermath of War and another piece of the puzzle
"Lift with your legs! Your legs!"
"I heard you the first time," Naruto called out.
It had been a week since the whole incident. As Makarov had guessed, the rune knights arrived quickly and had begun questioning everyone. They were especially interested in the independent guild who had shown and threw out some very nasty allegations. Thankfully, the council didn't see anything wrong as Naruto and his group had helped Fairy Tail defend their home. Jose was stripped of his title and Phantom Lord was abolished.
In the week that followed, Naruto and his group decided to help out Fairy Tail with building their new base. Though, there was another reason. Naruto wanted to check with Natsu, mainly because Bahamut had figured that the dragons had hid long enough. When he got the chance, he was going to talk to Wendy too.
Meanwhile, Gray was focusing on his ice magic to help with the construction of the new guild hall. However, he was working his magic differently. Lifting up some beams a floor up, was a gorilla made out of ice, but it looked cartoonish and was already starting to crack.
"Damn it," Gray said, "Leon made it look so easy."
Suddenly, a female voice asked, "Having trouble?"
Gray turned to see a familiar head of red hair, and thankfully, it was not the Titania. Kushina approached the boy as the ice gorilla set the beams down securely, only to shatter completely a moment later.
Gray hung his head in disappointment saying, "Oh come on. Why do they keep breaking?"
Kushina asked, "Let me guess, you're having some trouble with your magic."
Gray sighed and said, "Yeah. I kind of realized how useful dynamic make magic could be, so I've decided to expand my arsenal. With construction going on, it seemed like a good place to start working with it before trying out new moves in combat. Unfortunately, I've had a lot of trouble getting it to work."
Kushina rubbed her chin as she examined the ice, before simply asking, "Is this your style of ice make magic, or is it that Leon boy's?"
Gray looked at her in confusion.
Kushina explained, "When I first started using my fire dynamic make, it was hard to do. It wasn't until I realized that I was trying to copy the style of the instruction book that I was using. It took some doing, but I eventually found my version of it. Leon's focus is that of animals. Maybe you should look somewhere else."
Gray was quiet as he heard this. What was his way?
Suddenly, a voice yelled, "Hey, can someone get those tools down there?"
Seeing a small box filled with tools nearby, Gray got an idea. He took a breath and focused his magic, imagining what he wanted. A seal appeared under the box, and a conveyor belt of ice formed beneath it, spreading upward until it was at the worker's feet. The belt then activated and moved slowly but surely, cracking on the way. When the tools reached the worker, he grabbed the toolbox just before the ice shattered.
"Looks like your magic is more suited for machines than animals," Kushina said, "When I was learning dynamic make, it was the opposite for me."
Gray nodded before he noticed a box with a heart on it nearby.
"Hey, that husband of yours give you something before he left?" Gray asked, as he looked down towards the box.
He picked it up and opened hit and was shocked to see it was a lunch box with his face on it.
Kushina smirked and said, "It sounds like someone has a secret admirer."
Kushina walked away from the shocked Gray, and glanced to the side, seeing a head of blue hair ducking out of sight.
"Hey Kushina," Mavis said as she floated nearby with the plans in for the new guild hall in hand.
After Mavis had revealed herself there had been a massive freak out by the guild, especially Makarov who was having a mental breakdown at seeing the ghost of their first leader. The two had spent the next couple days catching up. It was actually kind of hilarious to see the entire guild have a freak out when Mavis was about to cry when she found out about how one of the guild masters she set up after her had become the leader of a dark guild. Needless to say, everyone got a good laugh out of it, though mainly Naruto and his crew.
Mavis then floated down to Naruto and asked, "Hey, Naruto. Do you think Zack is okay? Those rune knights looked a little on edge when he was taken away."
After two days, Naruto decided it was best for Zack to come to Fairy Tail, mainly so he could clear his name with the rune knights. The last thing they needed was for him to be attacked under false pretenses, or by some idiot trying to prove his worth.
Naruto sighed and said, "They think he is connected to one of the most dangerous guilds in Fiore. I think it is safe to say that they may be a little paranoid. They pre probably getting as much information out of him as they can. Plus, given that he can use that weird fire power, they're probably thinking that the rest of Tartaros uses the same thing…or at least something similar."
Naruto glanced to the side to see Wendy lifting some materials up to the workers, earning some thanks for her efforts.
"If you have time to talk, you have time to work," came the voice of Erza from nearby.
They both turned to see Erza wearing a construction out fit and helmet, before she called out, "And Natsu stop messing around trying to outdo Gray."
Natsu simply bypassed the woman and said, "Hey, whiskers. I got to talk to you about something."
Naruto face the salmon-haired dragon slayer and said, "Hey. What's up?"
"you're a dragon god slayer, right?" Naruto asked, looking Naruto in the eye, "What do you know about X777."
Naruto blinked as he racked his brain. It took Naruto a while to figure that out as he remembered the plan used by Igneel and his fellow dragons to stop Acnologia and recover from grievous wounds that they had taken during the time, and Mavis filling in the blanks on what happened with Natsu himself.
Honestly, sometimes Naruto wondered if Natsu's life could be turned into one of those sitcoms or even get a book about him written, given how convoluted and insane his backstory was.
"I'm talking to you, pal!" Natsu stated gruffly, annoyed at Naruto's silence.
Naruto said, "Sorry. The day your old man abandoned you. Sorry, but I don't know anything about what happened to the scaly deadbeat."
Natsu flinched as he felt something roar in the back of his mind.
Naruto finished, "However, if I were him, I would start getting to work on getting my charred scaly butt in gear and get back to my son. I don't think the dragon god Bahamut would take too kindly to someone abandoning their flesh and blood no matter their intentions."
Natsuo blinked in confusion before feeling a minor ache in the back of his head.
The conversation was interrupted when they heard crying. Turning towards the source, they saw Mirajane sobbing while Gray tried to console her, a few people nearby giving the ice make wizard dirty looks.
"Man," Natsu said, "Talk about not having a filter."
Erza declared, "You are one to talk!"
Suddenly, an explosion rang out and everyone turned towards the source, which was coming from outside the city limits.
"Sounds like dad is having fun," Naruto said with a smirk.
"If he can knock Laxus off his high horse, I'll be forever grateful," Mirajane said as she stopped crying immediately with a dark look on her face freaking out those who saw her.
Lax had arrived earlier that day, alongside with his team of worshippers, the Thunder God Tribe. Naruto referred to them as worshippers because they seemed to follow the man's word like it was the written by a god, especially Freed, who Naruto was very certain had a man crush on the guy, given he had Sakura-like eyes when he looked at him.
Anyway, Minato had been the first to call the kid out. Especially, when he called Fairy Tail, his own guild, weak, and then Naruto's own independent group even weaker for trying ride the groups coattails. Now, this almost led to Erza flying off the handle to try and smash Laxus herself. However, Minato stopped her before saying that she shouldn't be take the words of a coward and his underlings so seriously.
A lot of people were shocked that he called Laxus of all people a coward, especially the rest of his crew, who looked ready to throw down at a moment's notice and demanded that he take back those words. Minato responded by saying that he called them as he saw them, and that their "fearless leader" was hiding at the thought of fighting Phantom Lord.
Laxus, as Minato guessed, got angry, and got right into the older wizard/ninja's face. He said that the was far stronger than any of the wimps that surrounded him.
Minato looked at the youngest member of the Dreyar family and said two simple words.
"Prove it."
After this Minato used a teleportation from his light erciture to teleport them out of the city limits. He had no intention of getting into any trouble with the group. Since then, explosions had been heard the forest surrounding the town. The mayor actually came rushing over demanding answers to what happened and was thankful that someone had enough brains to teleport the normally destructive members of Fairy Tail out of the town before fighting.
"How do you think dad is doing?" Naruto asked his mother as they heard another explosion.
Kushina rubbed her chin and said, "I think he's doing pretty well. However, you don't get to get to be an S-rank in anything without earning it. When your father comes back, no doubt he's going to have a bruise or two that I can nurse back to health."
Naruto declared, "And just like that I'm out. Bye."
Naruto then hurried away from his mother, hoping to avoid any words that could potentially scar him for life.
Meanwhile outside of Magnolia…
Minato stood in a clearing that was currently filled with craters of various sizes. All around him the members of the thunder god tribe were dispatched.
Evergreen's hands were tied behind her back and her legs bound in a similar manner. Around her face was a glowing series of runes, a sign of Minato's light erciture. Near her right hand, a pen was pinned to the ground by the glowing runes.
Bickslow was bound to a tree with the magic writing, his dolls laying on the ground a few feet away from him shattered to pieces. His helmet was shattered, and a had a huge bruise on the side of his face. Like Evergreen he had a series of magic writing on his eyes, blinding him.
Finally, Freed was probably the worse off, being pinned down by the ground, his rapier laid on the ground broken into pieces, and his shirt and coat were blast of revealing a series of burns and bruises on his chest, shoulders, and arms. His head was covered in the glowing runes of Minato's magic.
"Three down," Minto said, "one to go."
Minato then turned towards Laxus who was now walking towards him with a wide grin.
"Not bad," he said, "but if you thought those three were stronger than me, than you got another thing coming pal."
Minato looked right at Laxus and simply said, "Than show me already, or are you just trying to bore me to death?"
Laxus growled slightly and sent out a large bolt of lightning that shot forward. Only for Minato to raise his arm up and form a barrier with his magic runes, which absorbed the blast and then redirected it skyward.
"You'll have to better than that, little man," Minato said tauntingly, knowing the best way to get his guy angry was to take pot shots at his pride.
Laxus growled before charging. Minato shifted his cane into its sword configuration and the two met with a loud clash, and a flash of lightning and light.
Back in Fairy Tail…
Makarov looked at the window, seeing where the shockwave was coming from.
"Hopefully, this will keep that grandson of mine from doing something stupid in the future," he said, "I hope that he doesn't share the same fate as his father before him."
Mavis floated down to Makarov and said, "I hope so too. I can see it. Laxus does truly have the best interests of Fairy Tail, wanting the guild to be the strongest in Fiore. But his mentality and methodology will only lead to problems."
After getting over the initial shock of seeing Mavis, in other words having a heart attack and having to be revived, Makarov and Mavis both spent time catching up.
"So, Makarov," Mavis said, "with what you know…what do you intend to do with Natsu?"
The current master of Fairy Tail regarded the first for a moment and simply said, "Honestly, I don't know what to do. I am shocked that someone like Natsu could be connected to someone like Zeref."
A part of Makarov's mind was still reeling. Mavis had sensed something similar to Zeref when she first met the young mage and knew he was similar to the dark wizard.
Makarov simply said, "Natsu cannot control who his family is. However, I suggest we keep this quiet. If word were to get out, no doubt there would be danger as many still hold the name of Zeref in contempt, and others would try to use Natsu to their advantage to get at Zeref's secrets, that is, if he knew anything about them."
Mavis nodded. She knew that she took quite the risk when she told Makarov about Natsu having a connection to one of the most infamous men in Fiore's history. A small part of her was afraid that Makarov would react irrationally, but she knew that Makarov needed to know, especially if someone else knew about the connection.
Meanwhile…back in the guild hall…
The construction crew was forced back when Zack entered the room all smiles.
Naruto looked up from his lunch and asked, "Hey, Zack, glad to see your back. I hope things went well."
Zack chuckled as he said, "Hey, Miss Strauss any chance a recently cleared man can get some booze?"
Mirajane smiled from her position at the bar and said, "I hope you don't mind it being warm. We haven't had a chance to get the new fridge yet."
Zack sat down at Naruto's table and said, "Hey, Naruto can I ask you a question?"
Naruto nodded and Zack continued, "Well. You remember when I told you that all I knew from Tartaros was something called face."
Naruto nodded.
"Well," Zack continued, "when I was being questioned by the council, an old guy was sitting in on the meeting, apparently he was an old member of the council from what I overheard. When I told them about the face thing, he looked like he had seen a ghost."
Naruto blinked at this as he finished his mouthful of food, saying, "Well…that can't be a good sign. If these guys are freaking out over what you mentioned, then it must be something big. I'll ask Makarov when I get the chance, maybe he knows."
Zack nodded before saying, "Hey, speaking of pervy old men…Jiraiya said something about performing a field test when I was leaving."
Naruto blinked in confusion and asked, "Field Test?"
Back in the world of ninja near Konoha…
The Hokages mansion was silent, the only thing heard was the sound of the guards making their rounds. And even then, it was silent quiet as an abandoned graveyard. However, as they silently made their rounds, the ground beneath them silently moved, a small lump that you would have to squint really hard to see moved through the ground.
It moved into he house and up through the floor, the only sound made was a slight creaking in the wood. One the ANBU guards did look up at the sound, but upon not hearing it again, and realizing it had come from under his foot, cursed himself for making a noise.
The shape moved continuously through the house and then up the walls, travelling through the stone and plaster, before coming into the pipes and slithering around the metal like a snake. Finally, the strange blob reached its destination.
Danzo's bedroom.
Danzo was sound asleep, but despite this, his hands were tightly gripping something under the sheets. Most likely a weapon.
The bulge in the wall opened and four toads, small in size quickly made their way to the corners of the room. They all turned to face the center of the room, more specifically Danzo, and opened their mouths. All four began to let out a long croaking sounds, though it was only audible to them. Anything else could not hear it.
This was the Secret Toad Chant: Lullaby of the Swamp.
The bulge then opened wider in a figure clad in black and soft padded shoes, with a hood covering all but his eyes.
The figure approached Danzo and examined him. Upon seeing him asleep, much deeper than he was a moment ago, the figure removed the sheets and examined the man's bedclothes.
The figure stared at the man and his eyes turned orange with a black bar pupil. He examined Danzo for a moment and saw a glowing mark on his chest, which almost caused him to freak out. He stopped himself from freaking out before noticing a weird chakra on his arm and his bandaged eye. He then saw a mark on his left shoulder.
With extreme gentleness, while he was handling something explosive, which he was, the figure moved the man's bed clothes away from his shoulder and revealing a seal. The figure held up a hand, and a small needle burst from his fingertip, he used this to prick Danzo's finger, this made the man stir, but he quickly fell back to sleep thanks to the toad chant.
The figure then smeared blood on the seal and in a pop, a book appeared.
The figure's masked face was home to a bright victorious grin before getting back to work. The figure then produced a scroll, which he placed on the floor and opened. He then placed his hand on the scroll right over a sealing array. The figure focused his chakra, and the sealing array began to glow with a dim light. words began to appear on the scroll spreading throughout the work and stopping after two minutes. With the work done. The masked figure placed the scroll on its back before placing the book and sealing it back up and placing his clothes back in place, and his blanket, then reaching to his hand, he placed his hand to the spot and healed the incision made for the blood seal.
The figure then made his way to the wall and slid back into the hole he came from, the toads following and aiming their chant at Danzo as they slid into the wall and vanished, leaving no trace that they were there.
The figure slid through the walls and ground until it was out of the grounds, and then sped towards an area outside of the village.
When the figure was finally three miles away from the village border it burst from the ground. The toads followed suit nodding towards it before disappearing in a puff of smoke.
The figure then proceeded to make a run through the trees. As it's ran its body began to change colors becoming brown until it had completely turned to earth, revealing a stone golem.
It ran through the trees until it came to a stop.
In a clearing was Date, watching with interest at Jiraiya sat in a mediation position. Around him were four more golems made from fire, water, air, and lightning. In each of them you could see some kind of glowing round core in each.
The four golems danced around the sage and the samurai Jiraiya then opened his eyes to see the earth golem. He clapped his hands, and the other golems stopped moving and the stone golem handed him the scroll.
Jiraiya smirked and said, "Okay, everyone. Show's over."
The golems all shattered or dispersed, revealing the glowing cores in the center, resembling lacrima with veins that spread out from the body. The cores all floated and then connected to a belt that was laying nearby.
Jiraiya smiled as he thought, 'Not only does my World Arc magic is working well. And thanks to help from some homemade lacrima, I can use it with the world here to create golems. The Earth golems can even use nature chakra. Sweet!'
Jiraiya then pulled a device from his waist, a crystalized batter that looked half dead, as of its length, most of the glow was gone.
'Unfortunately, the ether batter is proving to be difficult. A good beta test though. If this thing is going to work, we need a lot more concentrated ethernano. And I think I know where to get it.
Date declared, "So we done with this place yet, old man."
Jiraiya simply said, "Yeah. Just a beta test for something I'm working on."
With that, Jiraiya pulled out Naruto's special scissors, something Naruto would be upset about later, and walked through the portal followed by Date.
Cut! Okay let's get going everyone. Glad you all enjoyed the chapter, though it was slow it was mainly the interactions between the members of Naruto's guild and Fairy Tail. The next chapter has the group grabbing their final member.
Then we are going to do the obligatory timeskip chapter because honestly, I feel that if I rewrite entire arcs for fairy tail, I'm going to burn myself out. Then we have the final arc of the story, the mage ninja war.
