Chapter 74: UB Files 04: Lightning

It was late at night at the Akala Island Power Plant, and the crew were beginning to change shifts.

"Have fun! This place is a dull as watching paint dry."

"Ah, come on. It can't be that bad, right?"

"Whatever, man. I'm going to sleep till Monday."

But as people changed positions, the lights began to flicker, setting everyone on edge.

"What's going on?"

"Relax, probably a blown fuse. Let's just go...huh?"

Balls of electricity began flowing through the room, meeting in the middle to merge and form a wormhole.

"What the actual-"

From the wormhole, several figures began to emerge. First a leg, then another, an arm, then a head, repeat. Standing before the workers were two beings seemingly made out of electrical wires, resembling a tree almost. Confused, the men just stood there staring at the intruders. But confusion soon turned into fear as the two began consuming electricity, the energy flowing around the menacingly.

"Everybody run! Every man for himself!"

"Wait for me!"

By the time Brock, Cilan, and Iris had made their way to the power plant, the workers had fled to safety, leaving the two Ultra Beasts alone.

"So, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we're dealing with electric types."

"Looks like it."

"Alright then. Go, Graveler!"

"Excadrill, I choose you!"

"Go, Simisage!"

"Graveler, use Bulldoze!"

"Seed Bomb, Simisage!"

"Excadrill, use Mud Slap!"

The two beings shot out bolts of electricity, which either bounced off the ground types or barely fazed the grass type as they charged up their attacks. Graveler slammed down hard into the ground, sending shockwaves that rattled the aliens to the ground. While they tried to pick themselves up, Excadrill ran up and began hurlng mud into their faces, blinding them while they desperately tried to dig the mud out of their eyes. By the time they did, Simisage was blasting them with seeds, pushing them straight into a generator.

"Alright!"

"Way to go!"

But before they could keep celebrating, their opponents got to their feet and continued absorbing electricity, healing themselves as if the beating never even happened.

"Well, that's bad."

"Graveler, hit them with Rollout!"

"Earthquake, Excadrill!"

"Leaf Storm, Simisage!"

The earth began to shake, causing the otherworldly beings stumbled about trying to regain footing as Excadrill pounded the ground with its arms. Graveler then curled up into a ball and launched itself into the air, grinding into them before they were hit by a barrage of leaves, causing the two Ultra Beasts to fall on top of each other.

"Alright, time to-"

But they were too late, as no sooner did they reach out and grab a Beast Ball did they get back up good as new.

"Oh, come on!"

"Guys, I think its time we bring out the big guns," Brock said, bringing his Z-Ring up. Cilan and Iris raised theirs as well, nodding.

"Graveler, use Tectonic Rage!"

"You too, Excadrill!"

"Simisage, use Bloom Doom!"

Two large fissures opened up, swallowing both monsters whole before Graveler and Excadrill leapt in after them. Once they reached their targets, they dealt a swift but powerful blow, sending them skyrocketing out of the fissure, where Simisage assaulted them with nature. After the attack had finished, the two tree like beings faltered for a moment, before falling to the ground in defeat. Two Beast Balls later and they were both caught.

"Alright, we did it!"

"Mission accomplished!"

"The sweet smell of success has never smelt so good!"

Just then, their Brock's Pokedex buzzed, signaling new data.

"Xurkitree, The Glowing Pokémon. Its an electric type that unleashes powerful electric shocks using stored electricity."

"Yeah, no kidding."

Their job done, the three friends left the building.

"Man, that was exhausting."

"Not as exhausting as the time we fought that Gyrados, huh?"

"Oh, don't even get me started, Brock!"

"Wait...do you guys know each other?"

Brock and Cilan continued to laugh in their in joke, leaving Iris even more confused.

"We'll tell you later. Come on, I got this great new curry recipe to show you!"

"Ooh, do tell."

With that, the two strolled off talking about their mutual love, of food, leaving Iris to herself.

"Well, that just happened."
