Chapter 2
Safari
Tracker and Xochitl were walking along the jungle trail ahead of their owners. The two would frequently rub against each other in an affectionate manner. As they continued, Tracker would frequently point out every animal that they saw and identify it. Xochitl enjoyed seeing him do this and would frequently rub her cheek against her little naturalist's when he did. Similar to him was that she seemed to know the names of every kind of tree and plant in the jungle.
"What kind of tree is that?" asked Tracker, as he pointed to a tree full of monkeys.
"Monkey puzzle," she answered.
Tracker snickered. "No, really?" he asked.
"I'm serious," she responded.
He smiled and nuzzled against her cheek.
She blushed in response. Then, she caught something out of the corner of her eye and dashed off the trail toward it.
"Wait up!" cried everyone out of concern for her safety.
Suddenly, she stopped. Everybody else could now see what she was referring to. "What kind of animal is that?"
Tracker squinted to get a closer look. "It looks like a saola. I never thought I would actually see one," explained Tracker.
"What's a saola?" asked Xochitl as she laid her muzzle between Tracker's ears.
Tracker blushed, then began to explain. "A saola is a kind of antelope like animal from Vietnam."
"What is an animal from Vietnam doing down here?" she asked
"The same reason this jungle has both South American monkeys and elephants I guess," suggested Tracker.
After returning to the trail, Xochitl looked back at him and said, "Even with that explanation, it still feels kind of out of place."
Tracker giggled. "It's not like we'll see red panda…"
All four of them stopped and looked up to see a pair of fire foxes playing in the tree.
"Wait," began Xochitl, "Is that a chrome over there? And is that an Explorer? asked the hairless.
"What's up with the sudden references to web browsers?" asked Carlos.
Maria shrugged. "Well, we are on Safari, I guess."
Everyone chuckled at that.
Suddenly, Xochitl turned toward tracker, and planted a big kiss on his muzzle. Tracker was so taken by this, that as soon as the kiss broke, he kissed her back. The two passionately kissed each other for 15 more seconds before a shiver ran down Tracker's spine. That feeling. From the day they met. It was back. In an attempt to avoid embarrassing himself, Tracker bunched up his legs close to his body in order to hide it. Unfortunately for him, Xochitl immediately noticed something was off.
"Why are you bunching your legs up like that?" she asked.
Fortunately for him however, Carlos had also noticed and ran straight over to him.
"Maria," began Carlos, "I think we should end our little safari here. Me and Tracker have… things we need to take care of."
"What do you mean?" asked Maria.
Carlos moved his eyes toward Tracker, and then moved them upward.
"Oh," responded Maria. "Come on Xochitl, we have some work at the shop we need to get done."
Xochitl followed her owner but wore a distinct look of suspicion on her face. "What's really going on?" she wondered
Reviews:
Guest: I have actually chosen to be deliberately vague about trackers age to allow myself more creative freedom, though I do kinda like the idea of him being around Everest's age. Trust me, the prospect of sex is going to come up a lot in the story.
My apologies, but the chapters to the story are going to be shorter than my usual fair. Ironically, despite being drowning in school assignments, I have several chapters planned out ahead, and it will actually be a while till I don't know what's going on, but I'm already thinking about those questions.
