Notes: Located near the edge of the Andromeda Galaxy, the planet Vorgo remained uncontacted by all outsiders before the arrival of the kett. Mostly covered in water, save for a few small islands in the western hemisphere, it hosts a largely aquatic ecosystem. To this day, very little is known about the far depths of the seas, even by the planets sapient inhabitants, the eealen. One of the few vertebrates to have made the transition to land on Vorgo, though they're still largely aquatic and require a moist environment to survive, the eealen were surprisingly advanced for a pre-space age race. They constructed vast artificial islands over the centuries, to the point that they covered most of the planet's western hemisphere. For centuries, this culture thrived and advanced, to the point where they were able to reach the Green Moon, a moon, which possessed an atmosphere, orbiting their world, and even begin to set up a permanent colony there. This "space age" for their civilization even inspired them to send out probes into deep space, hoping to make countless new discoveries. This last decision, however, would prove to be catastrophic. When one of their probes returned, it wasn't alone. A vast fleet of ships, stretching as far as the eye could see, had tracked its signal and accompanied it back to the planet. The eealen, none of whom had ever seen something like this in their life, were horrified. They tried to contact the Green Moon colony, but none of their attempts to reach them made it through, almost as if the ships were blocking their transmissions. For days, the ships remained above them, not moving an inch. The eealen attempted to fire on the vessels with their aircrafts, but nothing they hit the massive vessels with even phased them. Then, around a week after their arrival, the vessels fired on the capital, destroying its defense system in a matter of minutes. The eealen tried their best to fight back against the invaders, but it was no use. Once the defense systems were down, most of the survivors were easily rounded up by the strange aliens who piloted the vessels, save for a few lucky enough to escape into the depths. This played out the same way in the other eealen settlements. Many of the once vast island chains were reduced to rubble and sunk beneath the seas. Within a couple of months, the once thriving race had all but been driven to extinction. Those captured by the invaders were forced to undergo a strange ritual which morphed both their body and mind to that of their own. Those that survived retreated to the depths, many vowing never again to venture up to the surface, the formerly Green Moon, now scarred by the invader's ships, serving as a constant reminder of their power.
Character Notes: A former captain in the eealen military, Conghor was one of the few of his people who escaped the invaders, though not without loosing an eye in an attempt to save as many of his people as possible. Having served his nation for centuries, he hated having to retreat as everything he'd ever known was destroyed, but he knew that his efforts would be in vain if he had stayed and fought to his death. With the less than one hundred he'd managed to save, he retreated down into the depths, wasting no time in finding a safe, yet secure, place to live and setting up a hierarchy. Deep down, however, he fully intended on one day taking the fight back to the invaders. Over the years, as they managed to gain a foothold in their new, fully-aquatic environment, Conghor put together a team to fight against the invaders. Having spent years observing their technology, as well as scavenging whatever he could of it, he executed many guerrilla attacks on their bases. The technology was foreign to them, but, with a bit of work, they were able to make it work for them, even stealing a few of their smaller ships, enabling them to fight the invaders on a more equal footing. However, as fulfilling as it was to hit back at those who had destroyed their homes and violated their people in the most grotesque of manners, none of their attacks did much to halt the invader's colonization of Vorgo. For every ship he destroyed, three more would inevitably come down from on high. Sometimes, he'd even considered stealing one of the invader's ships to reach the Green Moon, but, with no moon no longer looking green, he could only assume the eealen who had gone their had long since been dealt with by the invaders, who more than likely controlled the moon. Conghor knew that if his people ever wanted to have a future on Vorgo outside of hiding away in the depths, he'd have to think bigger. After years of trying their best to wear down the invader's forces, things took a turn for the worse. The invaders, using their submersible vehicles, managed to locate their underwater hideout and wasted no time laying it to waste. Though they put up a valiant fight, it was ultimately a massacre, leaving nearly two-thirds of the eealen dead. Those that survived were captured by the kett and brought aboard their ship to undergo the exaltation. While on the ship, the machine informed Conghor about everything. It told him that it's name was Cleeo and that she was a bounty hunter hired to rescue any remnants of his race from the invaders, whom she called the kett. Conghor still wasn't trusting of this machine, but he didn't have much of a choice but to go wherever she was taking him. Cleeo ended up dropping them off on a large vessel called the Zarathustra, wasting no time leaving the vessel for reasons that Conghor was unclear of. Escorted by strange aliens who called themselves humans, he was introduced to the masked figure in charge of the vessel, Atlas Hughes. The man informed him about their opposition to the kett and their exaltation rituals. Conghor, though still on edge, thanked Atlas for rescuing his people, but feared that, with how few were left, there was hardly enough to save his species from eventual extinction. To his surprise, Atlas informed him that those that had escaped to Vorgo's Green Moon before the kett invasion had managed to escape in their ship, eventually being picked up by an angaran vessel after drifting through space for months. Many of his people lived as nomads across the Andromeda galaxy, but there was a chance to unite them once more. Conghor, amazed that those that had left their world all those years ago were still alive, nearly cried out tears of joy. For the first time in a long time, he felt hope, however little it was. What would come of this revelation? Well, that's a story for another time.
