Author's Note: I am so sorry for the wait, but it has been a rough couple of months. My brother has been in the hospital, I've been under the weather and my mom passed away this past March. It's been a lot, but writing seems to help. There are only two chapters left after this one and I will hopefully get them all up tonight or tomorrow, so read on and leave me some love at the end)
The next two weeks were very busy for both Eric and myself. When we got back to Bon Temps Sam had taken care of Maryanne and everyone was cleared out of my house. Eric had workers get started on the repairs and renovations to the house right away. We debated whether or not we still wanted the cubby put in since Eric was a daywalker now, but since Pam and Godric were happy be nightwalkers we decided to keep it.
Godric had been busy on his own as well. He made the decision to go the the Authority to inform them of Sophie-Anne's blood selling. Since he wasn't under her rule there was no risk of treason charges. In fact the Authority made the decision to make Godric the new king of Louisiana and Mississippi since Russell's "disappearance." He was actually glad for the change of scenery and the opportunity to make important changes in the vampire infrastructure.
Eric had offered to let me stay with him while the house was being repaired. While that offer was very tempting, I told him I wanted to stay put. He pouted for a bit until I told him that I wanted our first night together to be in our bed. That placated him, at least for now. I also had some things that I need to take care of that I didn't want him to know about until after the fact.
One thing that I did get Eric's help with was with Eggs. I had him glamour all of the terrible things that Maryanne had him do, out of his head. Tara was happy with Eggs and I wanted her to stay happy so that she wouldn't have to suffer like she did before, especially keeping her from becoming a vampire. I pushed that thought away before tears could well up in my eyes.
My next bit of business was hard, but it needed to be done. I went to Merlotte's and I told Sam that I was done working there. I had more to do with my life than to be a waitress. I also warned him about going to find his real parents, that it would bring nothing but pain and heartache.
I also told him about Luna, that she was a shifter and that he could be very happy with her. He didn't really seem to believe me, but I'd given my warnings to him and that was all I could do.
After talking to Sam, I had a talk with Lafayette. I told him about Jesus and how they could be happy together as long as they stayed away from magic. I also gave him a heads up about the ability that was lying dormant inside of him. He seemed skeptical like Sam, but I told him that if he ever needed me to not hesitate to call and I would come running.
Now my next piece of business that I needed to take care of I made sure that Eric was busy in Shreveport so that he wouldn't know what I was doing. He was still very upset about my ending Russell Edgington by myself even after I explained to him what I saw, but this was something I most definitely needed to take care of by myself.
I walked into the Moongoddess Emporium early in the afternoon when I knew that Marnie was alone and I knew just what I had to do. I wasn't about to let her hurt Eric or any other vampire for that matter. She wasn't God and it wasn't up to her to decide who lived or died.
"Hello young lady. What can I do for you?"
I flipped the lock on the door before I turned and smiled at Marnie. "Hello Marnie."
"How do you know my name?"
I slowly walked over to where she was sitting. "I know so much about you Marnie. I know what you can do and I know what you have planned and I can't allow you to channel Antonia."
Her face went stark white and she was visibly shaking. "How could you possibly know about her?"
"Like I said, I know so much about you and your plans. I can't let you go through with them. I won't let you hurt the love of my life or any of my friends. You are a danger to others and yourself." I stepped up to and grabbed onto her arms. I let my new power seep into Marnie as it searched for her power. I slowly pulled it out of her and released it into the universe.
When I let her go Marnie collapsed back into her chair. "What the hell have you done to me?"
"I've taken away your power."
"Well give it back!"
"I can't Marnie, it's long gone."
"You will pay for this."
"No I won't because you are not going to remember a thing." I caught her gaze with mine and started to glamour her, another trick that I had borrowed from Eric. "You did have a special power. but one day it just vanished. You never saw me today and you have no idea who I am or what I can do. You have no more hatred towards vampires and you are going to live a quiet life running your shop. Do you understand?"
"Yes."
"Good. Bye now." I turned and slipped out the door feeling like a weight had been lifted off of my shoulders.
