After that night time seemed to move very quickly for us. Three weeks later Eric surprised me with a trip to Vermont with Jason, Pam and Godric in attendance for our wedding. He promised that as soon as it was legal in Louisiana he would make sure that I had the wedding of my dreams. I told him that no matter where it was, as long as I was marrying him, it would be the wedding of my dreams.
After the most perfect wedding, Eric and I spent six glorious weeks honeymooning through Europe. He took me to all the amazing places that I had only ever dreamed of seeing. He showed me where he grew up as a human and I realized it was even more amazing to see these things with him. He wanted to stay longer, show me even more of the world, but I was feeling a pull towards home. We had both learned that I shouldn't ignore those feelings, so we reluctantly headed home.
A few days after we got home, we made another discovery, but for the most part life had become quiet and what you could almost consider normal. Nobody was getting attacked or murdered. It was something I hadn't experienced since meeting Bill and it was nice to have some peace. I knew life would get crazy again soon, but I was okay with that.
Today is our one year anniversary and somehow I have ended up looking for my missing crazy Viking in the woods in the middle of the day. And I also wasn't alone, but there wasn't a wolf with me this time. "He's around here somewhere. He's probably playing in the water again." I stopped at the shore line and looked out at the still water. A moment later out popped my naked Viking.
"Sookie, where have you been?"
"I've been busy you crazy Viking. Why do you insist on trying to play with gators?"
"Because I can. Come play with me, my love. The water is wonderful."
"You see that I'm not alone, right?"
"Of course. You are both welcome to come in."
"I don't think that my little sidekick would appreciate going in the water."
Eric was instantly by my side looking into my sidekick's eyes. "You don't listen to your mama Astrid. You love the water just like your Far does, don't you?" He lifted our 3 and a half month old daughter into his arms and cradled her to his chest. "You are Daddy's little sea goddess." He turned and started back into the water.
"Eric, I'm really not comfortable with you taking our baby into gator infested water."
"Sookie, my love, my wife, do you really think that I would let anything happen to our daughter?"
"No Sweetie, I know you wouldn't. She's just so little."
Eric pulled me to him with his free arm and led the two of us deeper into the water. "I understand that she's our only child and you just want to protect her. That's the fairy in you, but you are both safe as long as I'm around."
I held onto him as he swirled us around in the water. "Do you want Astrid to be our only child?"
He stopped and looked down at me. "I haven't really thought about it. I just assumed that we were lucky to be blessed with her. I never thought that our luck would continue."
"What if I told you that we can have as many children as we want?"
"Sookie?"
"Now I'm not saying that I want to be barefoot and pregnant for the next hundred years, but we can have more children if we want."
I could feel Eric's emotions swell up inside of him, joy being at the forefront at the thought of expanding our family. "Sookie, I never in all of my thousand years of existence ever dreamed that this could be possible. Having the sun again and having a wife and a family for all of eternity. It's more than I ever hoped for."
"You once told me that with us anything is possible. Now that is true." He pulled me close and kissed me before the three of us played in the water until Astrid started to get sleepy.
We walked back towards the house wrapped up in the towels I'd brought, when Eric brought up an unexpected topic. "Sookie, have you ever thought about living somewhere other than Louisiana?"
That definitely threw me for a loop. "That's not something that I ever thought was an option. I have always lived here, this has always been my home." I cuddled up against Eric's side and stroked Astrid's foot that was peeking out of the towel. "Is there somewhere else you'd rather live?"
"I was thinking that maybe we could build a home in Sweden and spend part of the time there and part of the time here. I want Astrid and any other children we have to know where they come from. I want them to be able to play in the snow and learn about my family's history."
"Eric, I think that would be a wonderful idea, but do you really want to live near where you died before?"
"Lover, that is over and done with. I have so many more good memories there than bad ones and I want to share them with you and our children."
"I would like that very much."
We walked into the house and went upstairs. We changed Astrid and put her down in her crib where she instantly drifted off to sleep the minute her head hit her pillow. Eric swept me up into this arms and carried me to our bed. "I want to share every part of my life with you and we have much to start planning, but right now how about we start practicing for baby number two?"
"I like how you think Viking."
