Chapter 11

That Wasn't Fair to You

No matter how many times he went over in his head what happened, and how illogical this conclusion was, Tracker couldn't shake the feeling that his owner's fight with Maria at somehow been the result of something he had done.

"Maybe if I had been firmer about Carlos not wanting me to rub it, or if I tried harder to ignore it…" pondered the self-blaming chihuahua. In any case he had made one clear decision. He was going to go straight to Carlos and apologize for his perceived wrongdoing.

As he entered Carlos's tent, he announced "Um, Carlos."

Carlos sprung to life, frantically moving as if trying to hide something. Tracker got a glimpse of his … it was … just like his had been that afternoon, but for some reason he seemed to have what looked like a balloon over his.

"Yes Tracker, what is it?" asked his embarrassed owner.

"Sorry about what happened… today," began his dog nervously.

Carlos looked back at him sadly. "You don't honestly think that was your fault, do you?" asked the boy. However, the look on Tracker's face confirmed that he did. He was about to beckon his dog over when Tracker burst, spilling out the reasons he'd convinced himself it was his fault.

"Sh, sh," he said in an effort to soothe the agitated dog. "Tracker," he began looking him in the eye, "what happened today between me and Maria was not your fault, you did not do anything wrong."

"But I barely even tried to ignore…" cried the large eared pup.

"You did nothing wrong," he repeated sternly. "and… if anyone owes an apology, I do."

"Huh?" gasped the toy breed.

"You see, there's this girl I like, and I haven't been able to work up the courage to tell her how I feel, so I've sort of been kicking myself about it."

Tracker didn't need any hint as to who this girl might be.

"Anyway, seeing you and Xochitl together has me made kind of jealous and I guess I felt threatened by the fact your relationship is beginning to turn in a more sexual direction, when I can't work up the courage to tell… her how I feel," confessed Carlos. "That's why I overreacted," he said somberly.

"I'm sorry I made you feel that way," apologized Chihuahua, who was still blaming himself.

"You don't need to apologize for anything Tracker, I should be apologizing to you for trying to suppress your sexuality."

"What do you mean?" asked the Chihuahua.

"Forget what I told you the day of that hike. If you get that feeling, and you're not busy with anything else, you shouldn't feel you have to suppress the urge to masturbate," explained Carlos.

"What does masturbate mean?" asked the toy.

"What you did at Maria's house this afternoon," he explained.

The chihuahua blushed.

"Anyway," began Carlos, "I do think it is too early for either of you to be thinking about meeting but…"

"I wasn't thinking about mating!" defended Tracker.

"Uh huh," stated Carlos skeptically. "What were you thinking about."

Tracker blushed again. "I was thinking about her, from behind, lifting her tail…"

Carlos just giggled and gave him a pat on the head. "don't worry mi nino, you arent the first boy to be thinking about that, maybe the only pup you know…"

Meanwhile back in Adventure Bay, Skye turned her attention toward the audience and said, "unfortunately."

"but certainly not the first. As Maria said, what happens between you happens, it's our job to make sure you make wise decisions about it."

"Wait," began Tracker. "if you feel this is your fault, and you admit you agree with her, why don't you just go and apologize to her?"

Carlos gave a long sigh, before proceeding to give him a long explanation about saving face, not looking like you backed down, and general macho-ness

"This all feels kind of silly," thought Tracker. "Wait," remembered Tracker. "Why did she call you a coyote?" asked the chihuahua

"I am not going to the race politics surrounding that," stated Carlos plainly.

"Race, you mean like the Adventure Bay 500?" asked Tracker.

"No Tracker, I mean like skin color," responded his owner.

"Why does that matter," he asked as he thought about how weird it would feel to be charging any other pup by their fur color.

"It's just a human thing," responded his owner.

"Sounds really silly," thought the pup.

"Anyway," began Carlos, "I need to get back to what I was doing, so you had a long now.

Tracker nodded and exited the tent. Meanwhile, Carlos pulled his laptop back at and continued his prior activities.

Meanwhile, back outside, Tracker's sensitive ears picked up what sounded like another individual sneaking around the woods. He immediately started chasing after figure who immediately bolted in response. However, Tracker, unlike this mysterious intruder, had some experience moving with a certain degree of stealth. Therefore, it was no surprise that he quickly caught up with the stranger. However, what did catch him off guard was finding himself face-to-face with a familiar, largely hairless face.

I really need to stop writing these long ending notes because whenever I do, people never mention the chapter in the review. Anyway, what I've decided to do about "explicitness" was to do Tracker and Xochitls lovemaking at the end of the story tastefully implication (this is a story about two pups discovering their sexuality, not a porno). If there is any actual interest in seeing Rex and Jura (they're gay for anyone who hasn't been keeping up) experiment with touching each other, I will be a bit more explicit than usual with that one, but whether or not I write that to the interests of reviewers, one in particular.
