Chapter 7: Grand Theft Auto
Niko closed up the bar, Johnny and his pals were still sitting there drinking. "Y'know Niko. This isn't a bad place. Too fancy for my blood, but it's got something to it." Johnny told Niko. "This isn't a hangout, if you are going to drink here you keep it classy and friendly." Niko replied. "Oh, sure." Johnny told him. The bikers stood up and Johnny paid for their drinks, they all exited the bar, got on their bikes, and left. Niko closed up and went home, as he pulled in the parking space his phone rang. "Hello?" He asked into the phone. "Yo, Niko mon. It's Jacob, se wanna get bumbaclot seen?" Jacob asked Niko. "Sure man, where do you wanna meet up?" Niko asked in response. "Yo mon, meet me at de Homebrew Café. One love brutha." Jacob replied before hanging up the phone.
Niko drove through Liberty City on his way to Broker, The radio was playing "Sultans Of Swing" by Dire Straits. He pulled up in front of the Homebrew Café and parked, he locked his doors after he got out of the car and entered the café. Jacob sat there with a few beers waiting, Niko approached his friend and smiled. "Jacob, how are you man?" Niko asked Jacob. "Niko! So happy to see you my brutha. Come take a seat and rest your soles, seen." Jacob replied. Niko sat down at the bar and sipped his beer, he and Jacob started talking. "Niko, you looking after me man Roman? Jacob asked Niko. "Roman really doesn't need looking after anymore, he has really straightened up since he got married. And becoming a father helped out greatly." Niko replied. "Ah, okay." Jacob said with a smile.
There was a sudden sound of a familiar alarm going off, Niko and Jacob ran outside to see Niko's sports car speed off down the street. "Motherfucker!" Niko shouted. He ran and got into Jacob's Virgo and chased after the car, he couldn't keep up and lost the car after a few miles. "Fuck!" Niko screamed as he beat on the steering wheel. He turned around and drove back to the café, Jacob stood there waiting. "You didne catch him Niko?" Jacob asked him. "No, man. I lost him." Niko replied. "Fuck! I loved that car!" Niko shouted. "It's alright brother, I'll take you home. We go find it tomorrow, okay my brother?" Jacob asked. Niko sighed and looked at Jacob, "Okay man. Let's go." Niko replied. They got into Jacob's car and Niko took the wheel, they drove to Algonquin where Jacob dropped Niko off at the penthouse. "Niko, I and I go look for de car, you get some rest my brotha seen." Jacob told Niko. "Okay man. Later on." Niko replied before getting out of the car and entering the penthouse.
Niko walked into the kitchen and grabbed the vodka off the counter, he chugged half the bottle which hit him hard. He stumbled around the apartment, he sat down and turned on the television. Republican Space Rangers was on, he watched it to kill time before sobering up. He had sobered up just enough to walk to the bottle and chug some more, this time he turned on the stereo which was playing "That's All" by Genesis. Niko walked out onto the deck and looked at the night sky, he clutched the vodka bottle in his hand and stared at the streets. Kate crossed his mind, how proud she'd be of him for turning his life around. Niko thought more and more of Kate every second, he chugged the rest of the vodka and threw the empty bottle into the street. The bottle landed on top of a young woman's head and broke, she was knocked out cold and the civilians looked up at Niko. "What the fuck are you looking at!?" Niko screamed before going back in the penthouse.
Kiki arrived at Niko's, she wore black leggings, and a short white dress with low top sneakers and a leather jacket. She saw the drunk Niko walking back in the room, he looked angry. "Niko, what's wrong?" She asked him. "What the fuck do you care?" Niko asked angrily in response. "I'm sorry, what's got you so upset?" Kiki asked again. "Some asshole stole my car!" Niko screamed. "Oh my God! Do you know who did it?" Kiki asked. "If I knew, I'd be at his fucking house tearing him apart!" Niko replied while pacing the floor. "Just calm down, we'll find your car. What is the license plate number?" Kiki asked Niko. "You want to put out an APB on my car?" Niko asked in response. "Well, yes." Kiki replied. "That car belonged to the deputy mayor, it's hotter than a stove. I'll have to find it a different way." Niko explained. "Wow, Niko. I don't—" Kiki tried to say before she was cut off. Just get out of here. I want to be alone." Niko told her. Kiki nodded and left, Niko sat at the kitchen island and stewed.
