Note(s): This will slightly take place around (before) Kaleidoscope chapters 24 and 25, mainly. But will also focus on other moments in Rachel's life. Basically, to bridge the gap of a certain Summers showing up. And how their relationship came to be different from how originally was, much like hers and Alex's. And will be broken into two pieces due to the length it became.

The ship sits idly as she and Major Summers work on the problem. Another whish of air passes them. "Thomas if you could stop now, we need to concentrate." "But this is so boring!" "Um, Aunt Red?!" Poking her head out from the machinery, her dad follows her lead a moment later. "I guess we could use a break. Let's go see what my nephew needs."

Looking out the window, "well, what do we do? Let him in. And who is he even?!" The man continues hovering in the vacuum of space. His features resembling her dad. Though he has black hair. "It is alright. We won't hurt you. Who are you?" "I go by Vulcan. But my birth name is Gabriel Summers." 'Gabriel Summers?!" Turning to her brothers and Lorna who have recently joined them, she looks to face their father as well.

"May I?!" He nods his head in acknowledgement. "You clearly must be special. I have yet to come across a telepath who can bridge my thoughts." Stepping back, "Rachel?!" "He is our brother, Scott." "But we don't have a." Shaking her head, "he was taken before mom died. And kept in stasis." The Summers turn to look at him. "He's dangerous. I picked up some of his thoughts. He is the reason Scott lost his cool killing The Professor."

The glass shatters as she, William, Rachel Grey and Lorna are barely able to halt them being sucked into space. Hovering, he is emitting energy. "I can read lips as well. I had thought we could still be family. I remember Scott. But clearly, our views are too different." "NO!" But it is too late, their dad is already on the floor, dead. As he continues on his path, leaving them continuing to be marooned.

He is kneeling. "Alex, why are you in the dark?" Placing her hand on his shoulder, he shrugs it off. "Why?!" "I haven't read your mind yet, little brother; so, you are going to have to elaborate?! Or I could just reach in and see for myself?!" "Why did you even bother letting me in?! I saw your memories when you were dealing with Gabriel."

His shoulders slump as he chokes up. "How could you even stand to look at me?! After what he did in your original version." Remaining silent, she stops behind him. Once more placing her hand on his shoulder, refusing him to shrug it off this time. "Alex. It's true I never gave you much of a chance when I first came here, because of it.

And it was wrong of me. You are so far removed from the person you became there." Pulling him so that the back of his head is laying against her shoulder, he turns in her embrace. Continuing to lay his head against her shoulder though. His hair shielding his face. The tears falling onto her clothes. Her arms wrap around him. "It is true; that I won't always see eye to eye with every one of our allies here.

Too much happened between some of us there. But I know that The Phoenix has made mistakes through its previous avatars. And the poor choices some of us have just made period. I can't very well cast blame but excuse my own decisions. His sins aren't yours, Alex. You are the little brother I remember before he became twisted. The one that would cling to me after we lost our parents. I am here now. And don't worry yourself about it, I wouldn't simply abandon you."

Maintaining them from succumbing to the abyss of space. She keeps their father's body floating in front of them. "If you are thinking of accomplishing what you are thinking, "mom." Well, you know where he can be found. Though, I wouldn't recommend it from being too long. Major Christopher Summers was many things…"

Absorbing their energies, their attacks are having no impact on him. Gabriel remains hovering in the abyss. Cal'ysee behind him. "ENOUGH!" The Phoenix manifests behind her, the bird crying out. Her eyes glowing yellow as she strikes out. Gabriel flies back a few feet before catching himself. "Well played, sister." "Vulcan?!" "I am fine, my love."

"Let us continue then." "Rachel, protect the rest of them. Do what you can to get out of here. I will handle them." "But?!" "Trust me." Continuing to shield her family, Rachel Grey keeps them encased in a psychic barrier. The two collide with the other. She is able to punch him before kicking him. The energies throwing him backward. He is able to catch himself, leaving a streak of color in front of him. As he halts, "surely, that isn't all you can do, dear sister?!

Clearly, unlike our brothers, our energies don't cancel the other out. This will be fun. It is really no challenge knowing I can dominate them. You however, that may have not hurt that much. But I still did feel something. I am going to enjoy this." She smirks. "So will I, little brother! And I have no problem holding back. I will wipe the floor with you."

He is taken back by this. At which she winks before rolling her eyes. "Come now, Vulcan. You didn't really think being psionically resistant made you immune. You know you never will to the likes of the telepaths in this family. And yes, that does exclude Emma Frost." Powering up, she hands clenched into fists, she pulls her arms back slightly closer to her. Her mouth opening in a holler. As she meets him halfway once more, their fists connecting with wherever they are able to. Black Bolt remaining to watch from the sidelines.

Grabbing the back of his head, she brings it down; just as her knee goes up, smashing right into his face. Stopping and turning his back, he faces her at an angle. His hand holding his nose. Hate and rage in his eyes. "My love?!" "That's it! You have had your fun." But before they can move, "Rachel, get them out of here." "But?!" "There is no time. They are almost upon us. Kurt, take…"

The ship is gone the next she and Gabriel look above them. "Don't worry about the two of them. They will ensure their safety. You can trust them. We should really worry about them." One of the ship's light shines down on them. The Summers getting closer; each readying to take their interlopers on; just as the beams surround them and they disappear.

Landing on their hands and knees, he moves to get up as she is having a little more trouble. But he quickly goes down, as the blow to his face throws him off. "Not again." He is holding it the best he can, as blood begins spilling from it. And one of his cheeks begins turning a different color. Looking up, while also getting as close as she can to him. The guns are trained on them.

"You can very well be defiant. We would actually enjoy that. But if you do move, both of you will be blown away. So, who wishes to go first?! "I know you want to take them. But their threat is real. And we can't really think of ourselves at a moment like this. You do want to see your wife and child again, right?! I know I want to see the rest of our family."

"Come on. Enough of that. Clearly, you two are going to cooperate. We won't tolerate any more lingering." They grab Gabriel who initially begins to resist. Reacting, she begins to move forward. Only for her hair to be yanked extremely harshly from behind. She obeys the jerk; her back hitting the ground underneath her.

Vulcan's protests heard as he is continued to be dragged away. She is picked up by her chin; remaining still as she is held in the air. Seeing that Black Bolt has a collar on his neck as well. But unlike them, he isn't being restrained. "Rachel Summers, I am going to get out of here. Come with me." "I won't. I can't just leave him." "You promised to serve my family." "Be that as it may; I won't leave him. It doesn't matter what he has done."

Groaning as the strap is put against her throat; she is forced to look at the ceiling. Hearing the whirling in the background. Followed by screaming, closing her eyes. She does her best to push it and the images out of her mind. 'Escaping is not an issue. I should really leave him. But I can't. Not really, it would be wrong. And no matter what he is my brother; even if he probably does deserve this.'

Doing her best, she tries to look to the direction. "Oh, don't worry, Phoenix Starchilde. Your turn is coming soon enough." Shoving everything to the side, she lets clarity and serenity take over. Letting their minds, touch once more. "Gabriel?!" "Rachel Summers?!" Probing his experience more she is able to see what is happening. And barely keeping her gasp at the sight, quiet.

But begins fighting at picking up, what more is about to occur. "STOP! STOP! YOU COULD KILL HIM!" "And what do you care, Mortal Summers. It matters not, he is your brother. He is still your enemy, yes?! You should take joy that he will no longer be your problem."

"I…I fear… I am afraid the illuminance within me has been extinguished." "I will never forgive Blackagar for this." The energy begins coursing through her. Opening her eyes, they are pools of yellow. Wisps pouring out their corners as the rest of her begins heating up. The shackles succumbing to the pressure. His screams intensify as the room's occupants begin scrambling for cover.

Seeing the mad scientist standing over his side, "I warned you, Phoenix Starchilde." "And so, you did." With the strayest of thoughts, he is sent colliding through the floor. "Oh God, little brother." At seeing his mid-section and chest ripped open, completely exposed. "This was to be my fate?! I tell you now you have made the gravest of mistakes. You hurt the wrong person." She continues making her way to him, a blaze of fire trailing behind her; latching onto whatever it encompasses. Ignoring the screams, she looks down at him.

"Don't worry, I am going to get us out of here." "You really think that is a probability?!" The hole gaps through her chest's center as she falls forward; landing hard on the spike sticking out of it. Making the injury even worse, the pain is too great she is unable to respond. It cuts right through her pain receptors, overloading them.

The Phoenix being her only anchor at this point. Just as Gabriel hits the floor after being able to roll over slightly, letting gravity take effect. Passing out from the pain and trying to reach her. The shield blocks the next attack. Locking gaze with the alien, the smirk takes over her entire face.

"Your fear is so palpable. Not only can I see, hear and feel it. I can taste it as well. And you should be very afraid. You have every right and reason. I am as forgiving as I am vengeful. We may have had different views, but I would never tolerate any of my family being treated in thus a manner. And despite your best shot to extinguish me as well.

You have forgotten, I am the best avatar The Phoenix has ever had. I am life and fire incarnate. And you are about to see why I don't need the entity to wreak havoc. So, you shouldn't be worried about The Phoenix, you should be concerned about what I am going to do, with it at my disposal." Maintaining the shield, she levitates Gabriel. Channeling The Phoenix's healing capability, Gabe's wounds begin healing.

Looking out from under his slanted eyes, he raises his hand. "Don't worry about me." Explosions begin shaking the ship. As fire creeps further, engulfing everything in its grasp. The sphere clinging to her energy as the craft begins disintegrating. The balls of fire their only companions; as she feels her strength beginning to wane. Gabriel have been unconscious for minutes now.

"Help…Help me..." As blackness edges her vision. The arms wrap around her as the hold on Gabe remains. "It's alright I have you." The silhouette swimming. "Adam X?!" "Yes. Don't worry, I am here. Just lean on me. Let me know if you can't manage any more. Do you think you can make it?" She nods, "yeah," she whispers. Feeling bile beginning to rise up her sporadically reconstructing chest cavity; she lowers her head. Counting, focusing on not the vomit from not coming up.
