Chapter 10: Secrets
Niko woke up on the couch in his living room, he was still in his street clothes. He got up and walked to the kitchen, he grabbed a jar of instant coffee sitting on the counter. Niko opened the cupboard and grabbed a coffee mug, he sat the mug down and opened the jar. Niko put three spoonfuls of coffee into the mug and ran some water into it, he set the cup in the microwave and turned it on. He looked at his phone to see it was Saturday morning, he expected Kiki to call. Kiki's office was closed on Saturdays, and she usually spend time with Niko throughout the weekend. Niko called her instead, the phone rang three or four times before she answered. "Hello?" Kiki asked into the phone. "Hey, Kiki. It's Niko. Want to hang out today?" He asked her. "Oh, sure. I'm not doing anything. Come pick me up around noon." Kiki replied. "Okay, see you then baby." Niko said before hanging up the phone. Niko took his coffee out of the microwave, he stirred it up and sat down at the counter.
Niko got dressed in his leather jacket and black track top, blue jeans, and black Hinderland boots. He grabbed the key to his Hellfury motorcycle and walked onto the elevator. He exited the building and mounted his bike, he started it up and rode down the street. He rode downtown towards Little Italy, where Kiki lived in a penthouse suite. He rode up outside her apartment and called her. "I'm outside." He told her. "Oh, okay. I'll be right out." Kiki replied. She walked outside wearing a brown jacket with a white tank, a gray mini skirt, and black heels. She got on the back of his motorcycle, and he rode down the street. "So, where do you want to go?" Niko asked her. "Let's go to Split Sides." Kiki replied. Niko rode towards Star Junction, the Split Sides comedy club was there. Niko parked the bike outside the club, and he and Kiki walked inside.
After the show, they got on the bike and continued to ride. "So, you found your car?" Kiki asked Niko. "Yeah, it was just a block away from my apartment in Holland." Niko replied. "That's good, you work too hard for your things. Although, you got to understand why some poor ghetto soul would steal it." Kiki told Niko. "If they weren't so underprivileged, they wouldn't have to steal. I blame the corrupt system this country has that treats the poor like animals." Kiki explained. "Sometime your situation doesn't have anything to do with it. A lot of the rich bankers and billionaires are crooks, a lot of rich suburban kids in a correctional facility because they want to play gangster. There's bad in every wealth class." Niko replied. "I agree, that's why they shouldn't profile the poor." Kiki told him. Kiki held onto Niko's strong body, she was in love with this man and fell more in love with him every day.
Niko and Kiki rode up to her apartment, they both got off and walked inside. They took the elevator up to her floor, Kiki grabbed her keys out of her jacket pocket and lead Niko to get room. She opened the door and walked inside, the apartment was nice with oak counters and cabinets. The couch was modern and expensive, for a woman who like poor men she did have expensive tastes. She took off her jacket revealing her white tank top, she hung the jacket on the rack next to the bathroom. Niko took off his jacket and track top, he wore a gray t shirt that hugged his muscular body. Kiki took his jacket and hung it next to hers, she then walked to the liquor cabinet and grabbed a bottle of wine. Niko sat at the counter, he lit a cigarette and took a drag.
Kiki poured them each a class and started drinking, her radio was playing "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green. "So, I never got to ask you. How is your practice going?" Niko asked Kiki. "Oh, great! A lot of clients. A lot of them are civil suits, not really any criminal cases yet. But I'll get there." Kiki replied. "Good, the tavern is doing well too. It was Roman's idea to open it, he said he dreamed about it." Niko told Kiki. "Oh, really?" She inquired. "Yes, he said in it I had met the perfect woman. Beautiful and pure. After I introduced you to him, he told me you were the one he dreamed about." Niko explained. "Oh, Niko!" Kiki exclaimed. She and Niko leaned over and kissed, Niko put his hand on her thigh and started moving it towards her privates. Kiki smiled at this gesture, she and Niko started tongue kissing. They stood up and undressed each other, the radio now played "Son Of A Preacherman" by Dusty Springfield.
The next morning, Kiki woke up beside Niko in her bed. They both lay naked, Kiki all of a sudden felt the urge to vomit. Kiki ran into the bathroom and threw up, after she was done she looked at the used pregnancy test on the sink. It was positive, she did not know how to tell Niko. She walked back into the bedroom and put on a pink silk robe, that barely covered her lady bits. She walked into the kitchen had made a pot of coffee, Kiki sat at the counter trying to figure out how to break the news to Niko. He woke up and used the bathroom, he then walked out into the living room where Kiki was on her MyRoom account. "Hey, Kiki." Niko told her. "Hey." Kiki replied. "You on MyRoom?" Niko asked. "Yes, you really should create an account." Kiki replied. "I don't do that social media stuff. That's for teenagers/" Niko told her. He kissed her neck which made her shudder with pleasure, he then grabbed a cup and poured some coffee into it.
Niko left the apartment and mounted his bike, he rode to the tavern to work the afternoon shift at the bar. Niko rolled up and parked his bike and walked inside, he took off his jacket and hung it up on the rack. He grabbed an apron off the bar and put it on, he then started wiping down the bar and serving the patrons. Brucie walked in with a few girls, he looked at Niko and smiled big and excitedly. "Hey! Nicky!" Brucie shouted. "Hey, Brucie man. What have you been into?" Niko asked Brucie. "You know me, fast cars, model babes, and pumping iron. Nicky man, you look like you've been working out. Not as genetically superior as me, but not bad." Brucie replied. "Hey, Nicky. How about a bottle of expensive vodka for me and my lady friends here?" Brucie asked. Niko grabbed the bottle off the highest shelf and grabbed four glasses, he poured himself a glass before giving the remaining three and the bottle to Brucie. "Let's make a toast, Nicky. To the American Dream. We made it bro, all of us." Bruice told Niko. They raised their glasses and drank, Niko tended the bar as his friend got drunk with the women.
