Note(s): Margo is going to have someone before two others compete for her attention. And since their society/culture is different. Her being younger isn't really going to be a problem. So if anyone reading it does, well then, this is the only warning for the chapters that will revolve around her. And she may also be painted in a certain light as well. But she is still young so will make some mistakes before finally choosing the one (though the mistakes won't be that many)
The sweat drips down his back as he finishes the last of the weapons. Halting movement at noticing her presence. "What's wrong, Polymetis? Are you not going to look at me? I thought we had become friends." Clutching the hammer and chisel with the anvil in front of him, 'how can I tell her? I know not even my wife would dare touch her. But her parents might not be as forgiving; she is barely becoming a woman. And she wouldn't even see me in that light. Someone as beautiful as her would never even bother to contemplate granting their visage on someone as grotesque as me. She has seen me for how I really am, how can I ever hope to compete with…'
Recoiling at the unexpected motion, he drops his tools. Quickly holding his hand with the other as blood begins to ooze. "You're hurt." She rips a corner of her dress. Wrapping it around his hand, the two freeze, staring at the other. "Ah, there you are, Margo. Your family has been looking for you. As for you, brother, father wishes to speak to you. My lady Margo, I will accompany you back." Stopping next to him, "thank you, Lord Mercury." Placing his hand on her shoulder, guiding her. He momentarily looks back, giving his brother a knowing (and warning) look.
Placing the last of his armory in its proper crate. "That's it. You're leaving?!" Doing his best to bring his heartbeat down. "Yes. This past year has been for this moment. And I don't know when I am coming back. If I am even going to be summoned back." Clutching his hand while placing her other hand on his forearm. "Well, okay then." Her lips on his, the next moment; as she wraps her arms around his neck. Tightening the embrace, he deepens the kiss.
"I am beginning to worry about her. She has been neglecting things. And just goes to the tower and stares out of it." "Fear not, my brother, it may seem like it. But she won't succumb to a broken heart. I recognize the symptoms; however, she is of a stronger constitution than she gives off. We all have known this from the time she was a child. And we all get the appeal, Hermes. Our sister did grace her with all the beauty possible. And Aphrodite hasn't done such a thing since Helen or Psyche. And while we all love her; you are the one that has fallen more than the rest of us."
"How do you even know these things, Helios?" "Matters of the heart do correlate closely with medicine. And while we would risk a lot for Margo Pryce, in the end, she would be nothing more than a bauble when it comes to her and romantic love. Though, there are a few that would be more than willing to take a chance. And if you really wish to beat them, you are going to need to make a move.
Her hands are clutched in the other, held close to her chest; as she stands in front of the door. "I know you are there. You might as well come in. Quit pretending and dallying much longer." Swallowing her nervousness and uncertainty. She pushes on the door, walking in. To see the male standing there with his female companion behind him. "Ah, it is always nice to see the fair Margo Rachel Pryce. Iris has told me why you are here. This is the first request for him I have received from another deity. Are you really sure you want to do this?" "Please. And you are right. I can't dally. My family doesn't know I am here. Though, it won't be longer before I am discovered." "Very well, follow us."
"I will be controlling the illusion. And revive you when it is over. You are going to need to drink this first." Iris hands her the vial. "What is it?!" "It is a draught similar to what Juliet took. And you won't be lifted from the deathlike sleep until it is time. This is your last chance to back out, Lady Pryce." Staring at Morpheus and his consort, she takes the cylinder, quickly downing it. As he and Iris make sure she is gently placed on the settee. "Are we doing the right thing, my love?" He watches the child slumbering, lost in her heart's content. "You know we really couldn't deny her anything. She is still young, let her remain impetuous. Besides, it has already been set. Aphrodite, Zeus and Eros Cupid have already seen to it. And we are never in a position to deny them."
Looking around he sees that he isn't in his chambers much less his fortress. Not that it matters, for the sun of his life appears in the room. "Margo, what have you done?" "I had to see you. Are you not happy to see me?" Closing the gap between them, he stares down at her. "Of course, I am. But this was an unnecessary risk." She steps back, her head bending down. "I didn't care. I really thought."
Cupping her cheek, he forces her to face him. "You really do, don't you?!" Putting her hand over one of his. "of course, I do. You can't really still believe that…I mean sure, it was supposed to be a test before we started to spend time together. But I could never do that, be that cruel to sleep with someone else's husband just to prove myself. My feelings and what I want are bad enough.
And sure, we didn't exactly really start associating with each other until recently; but you must have known about my reputation by then. It isn't like people couldn't shut up when I was around. All because I am considered a very fair maiden. Hazel eyes and blonde hair with hints of red that started to appear later. It would have been easier if I had just been born ugly."
"You can't really expect any less, given who your parents are. Never wish to be anyone less than you are. And it isn't just your physical appearance that attracts people. You are the kindest, gentlest, nonjudgmental person I have come across. And I know I shouldn't, you still have your whole life in front of you. Plus, your parents might try to kill me when they find out. But then that might be with whoever you pick, since the majority of us are far older than you."
Closing the gap, a little more, "I didn't come here just to talk to you, Polymetis. I have been waiting for you to return. And I will keep waiting but the distance was starting to weigh on me. And I have also tried really hard to stay away, in the end you aren't mine after all. My parents raised us to do right; but also follow our hearts. Only it is giving the appearance that I am a harlot." "You could never be that, Margo. You are too true and loyal for that to be the case."
She looks down at this, "I really wish at times, I could be more like my brothers and sisters. They are not as reluctant to take what they want." "Never compare yourself to them, you are perfect. Besides, there should always be a line. I have come to learn this. It wasn't always the case. Wanting Venus as my wife is one instance. I should have thought about marriage more before committing to someone. Then I might have been free to be with you." "So, you are rejecting me?"
"No. I just." He stops talking seeing how she is looking at him expectantly. His hands are tangled in her hair the next moment; continuing where they had left off before Hermes had interrupted them. Picking her up, never losing his embrace on her as their lips carrying on seeking the other out. Gently placing her on the bed, before covering her with his frame.
She sits up in the bed, clutching to her chest. "Polymetis, what are you doing?" He continues putting his clothes on. "Your time is almost up." "But…but I want to stay with you." Squashing his desire, "this isn't even real. I am still far from Olympia. I can't ask that of you. It wouldn't be right or fair. I know I wouldn't normally be saying or asking such things.
But if you don't return, you could die. And I don't want that. You shouldn't have to wait for me. Find someone else, since I don't know still when or if I will return. You deserve far more than I can currently give you." "But I don't want anyone else." 'Hephaestus, you have been too selfish for far too long.' He sits on the bed, taking her hands in his. Leaning toward her, he kisses her soundly, which quickly becomes heated.
Pulling away, "if you wish to wait for me, I can't very well stop you. However, I don't want you to overlook another opportunity. It will hurt but if someone comes to love you as much as I do; and you have even an inkling of reciprocating it, I don't want you to pass it up. There isn't much beyond my love that I could give you anyway. I could never be your husband. And stringing you along, I won't do that. Just know that I will always love you." "And I will always love you, Polymetis."
