A/N: Enjoy!
Remus didn't know when it had happened.
Well, of course that was the case. He didn't cast a corporal Patronus since he had first learned the spell and found out that his long-awaited Patronus form is a – wolf. Disappointment was the smallest thing he felt. Confusion, sadness... But most of all, anger. Anger at Greyback for turning him into a monster and making him live his life isolated. Making him hate the moon and everything connected to that silver orb which haunted Remus every month. Everything about the moon disgusted him, therefore when he found out his Patronus, his guardian, was a wolf - he never hated himself and Greyback more. Everything in his life just had to be connected to the wolf and the moon.
So, when Remus cast the spell during his walk through a dark and abandoned village, he was shocked to say the least. Firstly, had he been so concentrated on his happy memory that he completely forgot to cast a noncorporal Patronus? The white figure coming out of his wand surprised him at first, but then the form of the figure is what made Remus dizzy.
Not-not a w-wolf. Not a wolf. Not even close.
At first, Remus thought he didn't see the shape very clearly, and that it was in fact his big wolf, only hidden in the shadows. But no. Not even a blind person could miss that the white shape was not a wolf. Or something as big.
It was small. And jumpy.
A rabbit.
A jackrabbit, to be precise.
Remus heart stopped. No. It couldn't be. Could it?
That Patronus was very, very familiar to him. He's seen it somewhere before. Then it hit him.
Tonks. Nymphadora. Dora. His beloved Dora.
His Patronus changed to hers.
Remus knew exactly what that meant. But it didn't mean he liked it. Quite the opposite, really. That meant his heart won the battle over his brain and no matter how many times he told himself during the past few months to do the opposite, he still fell in deep love with her.
Not that he didn't know he loved her, though. They had dated for a few weeks about a year ago, before Sirius died and before he was sent on this mission. He knew he loved her the day he saw her, but his head had always told his heart that it was wrong, it wasn't right and that it wasn't real love. A passing fancy, he told himself. But despite his constant thoughts how wrong it was for a werewolf to fall in love with a young Auror such as Tonks, his heart didn't listen. And Remus couldn't exactly say he wasn't thinking about her; her smile, the ever-changing hair, her crazy clothes and most importantly, her personality. She could light up the entire room with her radiating positivity and happiness and make everyone forget they're in war for a while. That's what he loved most about her.
But this! This was so wrong.
This meant it wasn't just a fancy, it wasn't a fling.
It was real. It was love. And it was crazy.
When the initial shock passed, he finally moved from his spot in the middle of the road, and headed towards his destination. As much as his head was screaming how wrong this was, deep down, he couldn't but feel a little happy about the change. At least something wasn't completely wolfish about him. At last he felt a little human. He felt love.
And the jumpy rabbit, despite how wrong it was that it was there, made him smile. For months he felt misery that he hadn't taken a picture of Dora with him. Even if he was supposed to be trying to get over her, Dora's brilliant smile always made him feel better and with the glumness that was present at the camp every day and every night, a little cheer and happiness was always welcome.
A little happier, Remus wrapped his old scarf around his neck and hurried on along the road, his new guardian on the tip of his wand, just ready to be released into action.
A lovely shock
