A/N so they have all the info on the prison and made agreements to go
Chapter 2
I was asleep on the couch when I heard a sudden commotion upstairs. I threw myself from sleep and ran as quickly as I possibly could to reach my daughters room.
I burst into the nursery just in time to see him standing over her crib. Those red rim eyes bore into me as he turned "please don't hurt her" I pleaded, only to earn a laugh from him "oh Rose I'm a monster but how cruel do you think I am?" I stared at him as he held my child- Our child in his arms, and made his way towards the window.
"NO" I screamed as he leaped out of it. I raced to the window ready to jump but he was nowhere in sight. And all I heard in the cold night air where my baby's cries.
I awoke in a cold sweat and quickly made my way across the hall to where my eight month old daughter slept. She didn't even stir as I made my way to the side of her crib. She was sleeping so peacefully without a care in the world.
I sank to my knees and rested my head on her crib to where I could look in through the bars and see her.
Ever since I got the letter and stake letting me know that Dimitri was still alive I've had nightmares about him taking Raven. It seems like I get them almost every night now. They torment me, make me so afraid that he'd find her and take her away. I couldn't live with myself if I ever lost her. Especially to the Strigoi who would drain her when they found out what she was.
A Moroi.
I stayed in her nursery the rest of the night, till the sun was down and it was time for me to go to work. I fixed a quick breakfast for the two of us before dropping her off at the Court daycare.
Since me and Lissa live in Court I report to the guardian building and do as they tell me until Lissa needs me as a guardian. It's not too bad. I worked on watch most days since charges are more safe when in court, and Lissa wanted me on something easier after having Raven. Some questioned what I was doing with a Moroi child, and our cover story was that I was raising her in place of our Moroi friend who passed in childbirth. I had her in the school infirmary after going into early labor. The only people who know about her truly being mine were my friends, family, Alberta, and Stan, who helped me deliver her. Everyone else who knew I was pregnant believed that I had lost my baby that night.
In a way it's sick, but the second she came out the way she did we knew she would never be safe. A Dhampir baby could be explained away, she could not.
I sat down at one of the open desks to look over some papers from the last shift only for my phone to vibrate about two seconds later 'How was the little princess this morning?' Adrians text flashed on my screen. I smiled at it before quickly sending my reply 'cranky as usual, didn't want to go to daycare' his response came back a minute later 'I'll have to stage a jail break then' I sighed staring at the message. It reminded me of mine and Lissas soon to be a practical suiside mission as Eddie put it. Breaking Victor Dashkov out of prison. Aidren would watch Raven when we left.
I knew that his parents wouldn't like it, but Lissa made a good argument that he could play the step daddy card as my Boyfriend. Something else they hated. Adren was good to her though, spoiling her all the time, and breaking her out of daycare early. 'No crazy adventures you two' I quickly replied before starting my work.
Adrien had broken Raven out of daycare, sending me a text letting me know he had her at a Court store looking at coats. I told him I'd stop by Lissa's room and then meet him to grab her a few. I made my way across court grounds quickly.
We sat on Lissa's bed looking at the prison's complex layout. The documents we got explained guard rotations, as well as prisoner feeding schedules. They were apparently escorted one at a time, heavily guarded, and only allowed very short spurts of blood. It made sense to keep them weak and from turning Strigoi.
"How are you feeling about your charm making skills?" I asked Liss. She shrugged and rolled over on her back. "Getting better. Wish I could meet Oksana"
"Maybe one day" I said vaguely. I glanced back at the blue prints. "I'm thinking you could make a few more compulsion charms, it would go a long way to help with this. We need people to see what we want them to" I said, she just needed more practice. The only problem was how much spirit she was having to use. She nodded at me in agreement to practice while stifling a yawn. "You should get some rest" I told her, giving her a hug. We exchanged goodnights before I headed to grab Raven.
I stepped into Adriens home only to be met with Danella making baby talk with Raven. She was giggling, clutching what looked to be another new stuffed animal. "Oh look, it's Mama" Danella said, pointing at me. Raven turned with a big bright smile on her face. I walked over and scooped her up, giving her kisses on her big beautiful cheeks. Danella excused herself when Adrien walked into the room giving me a quick kiss. "So do I get to know what you and Lissa are sneaking off to do tomorrow?" I shrugged "it's just between me and her" he gave a sigh at that. He knew very well that his Aunt didn't know we were leaving, and that we'd have to explain ourselves when we came back. The only thing we could count on was our full trust in him.
I kissed him goodbye and made my way home with Raven. I made an easy meal for her, then ran a bubble filled bath that she played in for 45 minutes before I rocked her to sleep. She was like an angel in my arms. Putting her in her crib was difficult, but I knew I needed to rest for tomorrow. I leaned over and kissed her head before readying myself for bed.
I met Adrien to give him Raven after the new graduates luncheon, where Moroi eligible for new guardians would also attend, hoping to scope out new candidates. I took my key off my key ring to give to Adrien. "All of her clothes are washed and put away, the cubuds are full of food, and her play pin is set up in the living room, schedule is on the fridge. Try and follow it as best you can '' I rambled on. Adrien gave me a goofy grin "you know i'll take good care of her" I did. I gave him a kiss. I gave Raven a big hug and kiss before handing her to Adrien and thanking him again.
I met Eddie just as we planned in the middle of the 'night' with Lissa. I felt the same anxiety I did when we snuck into HQ with Mia. Light exposed everything, but then, most people were asleep. We met Mikhail in a section of the compound that held all sorts of vehicles. He surveyed the three of us. "Going to be a tight fit" he mused. I forced a smile "we're all friends here" Mikhail popped the trunk of a black Dodge Charger. He wasn't kidding about a tight fit.
"Once we're far enough away, i'll pull over and let you out" he said. "We'll be fine" I assured him. We all crawled into the trunk. It was like a game of twister. We were squeezed together, personal space was nonexistent. The car drove off, a minute later we stopped and heard voices talking. My heart sped up in my chest but we were soon moving again. A mile or so down the road, the car veered sideways and came to a stop. The trunk popped open, and we spilled out. I'd never been so grateful for fresh air. I took the passenger seat next to Mikhail, Lissa and Eddie took the back.
I sighed and let go of my guilt about lying to Adrien. Taking advantage of his kindness and love for me and Raven.
I took a deep breath and settled back and turned my thoughts to the task at hand. It would take us about an hour to reach the airport, and from there the three of us were off to Alaska.
