Change
Finn was walking around his room, with the incredible need to talk to someone, like usual.
"Why does it always have to be like this, Mr. Starry Night? Why?" the wizard boy asked, needing to vent to someone.
"Meow" the cat said, trying to comfort his owner. It would be hard, though, since this topic was always a touchy subject to the young sorcerer.
"Couldn't he just love me the way I am?" asked Finn, still feeling sad at his father.
The wizard boy's father was a well-known exorcist, Rin Okumura, which made him a strong opposer to the idea of his son using magic, even though, his magic was good.
"Lunario used light magic to destroy demons. He protected the entire world and created a legacy that still lives until nowadays. The Witch Towers are still here, forming powerful wizards to protect the world. I only use light magic, why things are like this, then?" asked the young sorcerer.
However, he knew the truth. He knew that the rivalry between exorcists and light wizard was a question of pride, and not right or wrong. But was it too much to expect his father to be different?
"I am good at it. It's a part of me. Why can't he just see this?" asked Finn, getting more and more sad.
"I already do so much just so that I can look normal. Shouldn't that be enough?!" asked the young sorcerer, bursting into tears.
He was not lying. He always cut his ears and his tail, just so that he could look more like a human. It hurt, a lot, but he didn't care. All that he wanted was to feel like a normal person.
"Oh, mom. I wish so much that you were here. This way, I would still have some support from someone" said the wizard boy.
"I don't belong here. I never have. Sometimes, I wonder if I will ever find my place," said the young sorcerer. He couldn't even understand why he was there. Most of his traditions were British, from his mother's side of the family, he doesn't have any vocation to be an exorcist, and there was no one there that would miss him if he was somewhere else.
Then why? Why not trying to make a change? Why not going somewhere else? He had a perfect destination in mind. He could change his situation.
He didn't even imagine that his father was listening to all of this behind the door, careful enough to not make a noise.
'Shit' he thought, seeing his son's sadness. If there was one thing in the world that destroyed him, was seeing that his son was sad.
Since he could remember, his son always had a fragile self-stem. He remembered how he used to suffer in silence.
The number of times he wished his son's temper was shorter, like his used to be at his age, just so that the young sorcerer could be happier, was something so big, not even he could tell.
He continued to walk around the house, until he arrived at a place full of family pictures. As he looked into them, he reminded himself of stories about him, Finn and his wife, Sunny.
Sunny Spell, how much he missed her name. He still remembered the day he met the sun witch, in the middle of a battle. How she tried to grab his sword, thinking it was an evil artifact, and how they became friends after it, and then more as time progressed.
They used to be so happy, and when the wizard boy came to their lives got even better. But now… she is gone, and he still remembered their last argument.
Years Ago
"Rin, we need to talk" Sunny said, in a serious and firm tone.
"What is it, honey?" asked the exorcist. His wife's face was still the same. He guessed what she wanted to talk about, and sighed.
"Why did you say to Finn he can't be a wizard? He is still crying on his room" said the sun witch.
"He can't be a wizard, Sunny" said Rin, while looking at his wife. She got angry at him.
"Why not? He has the right of choosing my side if he wants to!" Sunny asked.
"Fuck, can't you see I am only doing this to protect him?!" asked the exorcist, angry and tired of being seen as a villain by his son and his wife.
"He is not completely witch. He has a demon part. A lot of exorcists are going to go after his head if he joins the witches' side. I just want to keep him safe!" said Rin, sitting on the couch.
"Rin, I understand you are worried. Do you think I never feel scared about what can happen to him? But he has us, the witch council, and his powers. He is not as defenseless as he looks" said the sun witch, sitting as he side.
"And is unfair not letting him do something he is so talented at and that he likes so much" said Sunny, putting a hand at his shoulder.
"I am sorry for screaming. But I hate that you guys see me as a villain" said the exorcist, putting his arm around his wife.
"I know, but we need to be at his side. If we, his parents, are not, then, who will be?" she asked, giving him a kiss in the lips.
"I just don't want to lose him" he said.
Back at the present
But he did. All of his actions were going to make him lose his son.
"Stupid!" Rin screamed, facepalming. If he didn't do something soon, he and his son would probably never ever be close again.
"Think! Think! What can you do now?" he asked, as he walked in circles, trying to think about something to make his son happier.
"That's it! Time to do his favorite meal!" said Rin, running to the kitchen, hoping to use a family dinner to solve the problems between the two.
He still hasn't lost his son… yet. Unfortunately, Finn was going to continue his plans.
"Okay, most of the things are ready. Time for us to go" said the wizard boy, as he finished to pack some things.
The only things he packed were some clothes, his spell book, a water bottle, some snacks while he didn't find a permanent place to stay at and a photo of his mother.
However, there still was one thing that he wanted to pack. If you don't have magic, it would be impossible, but, luckily for the young sorcerer, he had the perfect spell to do this
"Parvus" said the young sorcerer, shrinking his bag and his bed, leaving his room on an empty state.
It was weird looking at his room with most of the things that made the place special not there. A part of him was going to miss the place, but the other one needed to find a new place.
"From now on, everything will be different. I am not Finn Okumura anymore. Now, it's Finn Spell. Just a young wizard that wants to explore Gravity Falls. No more exorcists, no more prejudice, no more shame. I can be what I really want to be" Finn said, while looking at his cat.
"There's just one thing that I think that I should do" said the wizard boy, grabbing a pen and a paper from his desk.
As soon as Rin finished the spaghetti, he went to his son's room, knocking in the door, hoping to receive some kind of answer. But, he only received silence.
"Hey, champ… sorry about earlier" the exorcist said. Still, just silence.
"Just to warn you that I made your favorite for the lunch! Spaghetti! Remember when I taught you how to cook it?" he asked, still hoping to talk to him. Silence once more. Rin sighed.
"Look, I know that since your mother has been gone, things have gotten complicated between us. But, I want you to know that I still love you as much as I did when you were little" said the exorcist.
"And sorry if I seem prohibitive with not wanting you to be a wizard. It's just that, I don't want you to get hurt. It's not because I am ashamed of you. You are literally the best thing I ever made," said Rin.
"So, can you please open the door?" asked the exorcist. But, still silence as the answer.
"Finn?" asked Rin, opening the door. When he entered the room, he saw that the place was empty. Not even his son's bed was there.
"Finn, what the fuck has happened?!" asked the exorcist, surprised at what he was seeing. But, before he could do anything, he saw a letter in the ground.
He quickly grabbed it and opened, so he could finally have his answers.
Dad, I understand I am not welcome here. I understand that I only cause problems, and that you are ashamed of me. So, I am doing both of us a favor. I am going to a place where I will finally be accepted. Don't worry, I already have some plans, and I will control that power, so, I am not putting anyone in danger.
Goodbye, Dad. Hope you are okay.
Finn
Yukio has received a worrying call from his brother. He couldn't exactly understand what he was saying, so, he went there as quickly as possible.
"Rin, what has happened?" asked the man with glasses, seeing his brother in the ground, crying.
"He left" answered Rin.
"What?" asked Yukio.
"Finn has left!" said the exorcist, screaming in rage, unleashing some blue flames.
