Liam's head is throbbing. He slowly opens his eyes and stares up at the ceiling. He looks around the room that he is in and sees Mason across from him. His eyes are open, and he is looking at the ground and staring at something to his right. Liam follows his eyes and sees someone laying on the ground with their head partially bitten into. Liam shivers at the cloudy lifeless eyes and looks back at Mason.
"Who did that?" He asks.
"I am not sure, but that person laying there is Belasko." Mason points out.
Liam's eyes widen and he looks back over at the body. He always thought Belasko would look a whole lot more intimidating, but now that he is lifeless on the ground the threat of him gone, he only sees a small shell of a man. Liam runs his hands through his hair and tries to think. He searches his pockets but comes up empty. Of course, whoever it was would take his phone. He tries not to panic.
He looks over and sees a metal door. He is not tied up, but that seems a little too easy. He gets up anyway and he reaches out to see if he can open the door.
"Wait!" Mason cries.
He jumps backwards, his heart pounding inside his chest.
"See those wires? It is hooked up to something. You would be shocked if you touched it. I know you're a werewolf, but I assume that would not be good or feel great." Mason says.
Liam sits back down on the ground and sighs. He should have stayed home and somehow convinced Mason to stay at the house too. He had to try to rebel against everyone and now look at where he is. He hates that he has to one up people sometimes. He was so angry at the pack and everyone who did not tell him everything, that he did not think this through. Scott has always taught him to tell someone else where he is going just in case. He knew that and it makes sense. His anger and emotions have been dictating a lot lately.
"It is okay Liam." Mason says suddenly.
"What?" He asks.
"You look really defeated? Or upset. I should have told Brett that tonight was not a good time. Maybe we should have met up with them differently." Mason admits.
"Maybe but I feel like I have been making a lot of terrible decisions lately." He frowns.
"I don't know if everything has been a terrible decision, but clearly you have been thinking more with your heart than your head. That is fine of course." Mason says.
"Until it isn't." Liam sighs.
He wonders how long he is going to be kept in here. Is anyone going to come talk to them, or are they going to be killed off like Belasko? He looks along the walls and ceiling trying to see if something can help him formulate a plan. It looks like a basement.
Then he hears it. That frequency again. It starts low but continues to become louder as the seconds go on. He throws his hands over his ears and cringes from the pain in his head. It becomes amplified from the sound he is hearing. He feels his sight go in and out. He growls. His heart speeds up rapidly and then he hears the loudest scream he has ever heard. It shakes the walls, and it almost muffles the other noise. He covers his ears with his hands as hard as he can. He whimpers as the scream continues.
A hand touches his shoulder and finally the screaming stops. He looks up at Mason, who is afraid and has a look of concern in his eyes. He sits back up and leans against the wall. There is a ringing in his ears but at least the other sounds have stopped.
"What happened?" Mason asks.
"You didn't hear that screaming?" Liam asks surprised.
He knows Mason cannot hear the frequency based on what he was told before. He is not supernatural, but the screaming. Was that supernatural? It sounded like it was right beside him. Mason looks at him confused and shakes his head. Maybe Liam is going crazy.
"No, I just saw you cover your ears and start to lay on the ground." Mason explains.
Liam nods and puts his head in his hands. Time passes slowly, or he thinks it does. They have no watch or phone, but it seems to drag on. He does his best to wait it out and pass the time. He talks to Mason, and he counts the lines along the wall. He starts to wonder if anyone is going to find them. Does anyone know their missing? What if they think they ran off because they were angry? Mason keeps talking about everything and anything. It seems like it helps him.
It feels like hours pass and Liam feels his heart sink lower into his stomach. A pit in his stomach forms and he starts to count the wires on the metal doors. At some point, Mason looks like he has all but given up. He sighs and stops talking to him about little things. They sit in silence and dread, waiting for someone to show up, or someone to at least explain what is going on.
Liam looks up at the ceiling and wonders what his life might have been like if he was not a werewolf. He hears footstep and he sits up and stares at the metal doors. Mason looks at him with wide eyes. The door starts to shake, and electric waves start to cover the door and then dissipate. The doors open slowly.
"Kira?" Liam looks at her in surprise.
"Sorry I am late. We had a detour to make." Kira says.
Liam has never been so happy to see Kira in his entire life. He jumps up and runs over to her. Mason follows slowly behind him.
"This is Mason." He says.
"Hi, who sent you?" Mason asks.
"Scott, but we were not sure you were here at first. We were looking for Lydia, but then Scott heard your growl." Kira smiles.
"Scott?" He asks.
"Yes, we found Lydia and we were able to break her out of where she was. She was here in Eichen with that crazy doctor she met, I guess? Scott and Stiles claimed that Corey kept talking about Mason's car was missing. So here I am." Kira explains.
"We are in Eichen?" Mason asks.
"Yes, and who is that?" Kira asks, looking at the body on the ground.
"Belasko. Long story but we can discuss it later." Liam says.
Kira nods and leads them down the hallway. He wants to ask where Theo is, but decides to hold off. He also wonders why he is in Eichen. What would that doctor want with a human and a werewolf? He almost slams into Kira who stops suddenly. Liam looks up and sees Donovan looking back at them. He looks at Mason who seems just as confused as him.
"Donovan?" Mason asks, unsure.
"A few setbacks but I handled it I think." Donovan smirks at them.
Donovan leers at them and Kira puts her hand on her sword. Donovan lunges at the three of them. Liam is not sure what to think at this point, but someone is lunging at him. Someone who he never liked to begin with. He feels his wolf shift and he snarls. He sees Donovan turn and move towards Mason. One second, he grabs a hold of Donovan's arm. Two seconds he pushes him into the wall. Three seconds is unclear, but he hears a lot of yelling and growling. Four seconds his vision is blurred, and his fangs slide over his tongue. Five seconds he feels someone grabbing him backwards.
"LIAM. ENOUGH." He hears Brett cry.
Liam looks around and sees Kira and Mason staring back at him with wide eyes. He looks over at Donovan. He is laying on the floor, shirt torn, bloody, and groaning in pain. He feels his fangs slide over his tongue and his chest heaves in anger, but he raises his hands up. Brett frowns but lets him go. Donovan grins at them. Lori touches his shoulder, making him realize she is here too. He barely remembers seeing them run over to them. He only saw Donovan. His blood boils at Donovan's amused face, but Brett steps in.
"What the hell are you doing?" Brett asks.
"Just tying up loose ends." Donovan eyes narrow at Liam.
"Theo sent you to kill us?" Mason asks, surprised.
"Who said I work for Theo?" Donovan spits out.
"We will take him back to our car so we can talk to him, but Scott says he needs to get everyone out before it locks down." Brett says, looking at Kira.
Brett grabs onto Donovan and pushes him down the hallway. Liam and Mason follow Kira down the hallway, through multiple turns. He did not think Eichen was this much of a maze, but here they are. He starts to wonder how long this will take, when he sees the door showing an exit. He sighs in relief and Kira opens it. Standing outside are Scott and Stiles, with a very tired looking Parrish and a worried Lydia.
His heart sinks. He is happy to see all of them. He is, but he thought Theo would be with them too. He tries to hide his disappointment and smiles. Scott pats his shoulder and Kira smiles.
"Are you guys, okay?" Scott asks.
"I think so. Do you know a little bit more of what is going on?" Mason asks.
"Yes, and no." Stiles says.
"Well, we found this one." Brett says, looking at Donovan.
"Ok, let me take Lydia to Deaton, and then we can deal with him." Scott offers.
Parrish carries Lydia to Stiles Jeep and puts her in the back. Stiles slides in next to her and Scott hops in the front. She is holding her head and gritting her teeth.
"We have to get her to Deaton's fast. Are you guys coming?" Scott asks.
Mason looks at Liam, waiting for his response. He knows Scott and Stiles can handle Lydia, but he should go for support. However, he feels torn on what to do and where to go. He wants to make sure Corey and Theo are okay and wonders where they are. He even wonders where Tracy is. Did they even try to help find them? Why is Donovan even here? Is there someone else Theo is working with?
His wolf becomes distressed, and he holds back a growl.
"I think I should go check on Corey. Liam will you come with me?" Mason asks.
He looks over at Mason gratefully. His eyes showing understanding and he nods.
"Ok but meet us tomorrow." Scott says.
"I will drive you back." Parrish offers.
Kira helps Brett and Lori move Donovan to her car. Liam watches everyone drive away and Mason tugs at his arm. He follows Parrish back to his car and wonders what Donovan meant. So, he does not work for Theo, but didn't Corey say that Theo and Donovan were in on the phone thing with Scott? He sighs and puts his head back on the seat. His eyes grow heavy and he drifts off on the ride home.
He feels a nudge on his shoulder and he opens his eyes slowly. He climbs out of the car and nods to Parrish. He feels guilty about not going with Scott and the others, but he does not want to leave Mason alone. At least, that is what he is telling himself that it is. Mason unlocks the door and walks in. Corey jumps up from the kitchen table and runs over to them.
"Are you okay? Where did you go?" Corey asks with concern.
"Eichen. Did you send Donovan to get us?" Mason asks.
"No, why would I do that? He was supposed to be with Tracy." Corey says, looking confused.
"Okay, because he tried to kill us." Mason glares at him.
"Okay. I don't know…I will call her." Corey says, taking out his phone.
Liam heads up the stairs. He does not really care who sent Donovan at this point. He just knows there is now another person involved apparently. His head throbs from the new information. He gets to his bedroom and flops onto the bed. His eyes slowly close again and he falls into a dreamless sleep.
He is awoken by his phone going off. He grumbles and slowly reaches for it. Brett. He slides his finger over the green button.
"Hello." He says.
"Hey, Donovan is gone." Brett says.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
"He was taken to my house, and I chained him to the couch in the living room. I had to do something with Lori…" Brett explains.
"You left him alone?" Liam grits his teeth.
"For like five minutes and he was gone. I didn't think he went far but I cannot find him." Brett admits.
"OK…" He starts to say, but then he hears a knock on the door.
"I have to go. I will call you back." Liam explains.
He disconnects the call and opens the door to see Theo looking back at him. Liam glares at him and his fangs slide out, when Theo reaches out and touches his cheek. Liam's anger melts away and he leans into Theo's touch. Theo runs his hand over his chin and goosebumps prickle up Liam's arms. He runs his hand along his arms and up his side. Liam's skin heats up and he tries to maintain his fierce gaze, but Theo tilts his head at him, his eyes softening.
"Are you okay?" Theo asks.
"I was and then Donovan tried to kill us." Liam frowns.
"Corey told me." Theo says.
"Did he also ask you if you sent him?" He growls.
"No, because why would I send Donovan to kill you and Mason." Theo sneers.
"I don't know but he said he was not working for you." He says.
"Corey told me that too. Mason told him about it." Theo says.
Liam narrows his eyes at Theo, still unsure about what he is saying. He needs to call Stiles at some point. Theo pulls him towards him.
"I am glad you are okay Angry Wolf." Theo whispers in his ear.
His wolf sighs and Liam melts into Theo's touch. He feels angry and frustrated at everyone.
"I tried to kill Donovan, I guess. When I got angry." He admits.
Theo hums and strokes his hand along his side. Liam's eyes flash gold and his wolf growls in contentment at the feeling.
"He probably deserved it." Theo says.
Liam feels his phone vibrating and he pulls away. He looks at his phone to see a text from Brett.
Brett: Found him. He is torn to shreds about 30 feet from my house. He was in the woods.
"Um, I think I have to meet with the others." He tells Theo.
"Ok, are you going to sleep first? It is the middle of the night." Theo smirks at him.
Theo pulls him towards his room and sits him on the bed. A blanket hits him in the face.
"Hey." Liam's eyes narrow.
Theo chuckles and sits down on the bed. Liam's heart starts to speed up as he prepares to ask what he has been thinking. He swallows the lump In his throat and stares at his hands.
"Did you know Donovan was working with someone else?" He asks.
"No, but I had an idea when Tracy called and said he never showed up." Theo explains.
"What was he supposed to be doing?" Liam asks.
"Things." Theo smirks.
"Things?" He questions, frowning at the vague response.
"Yes, but we can talk about that later." Theo says.
He pulls him underneath the covers and throws the blanket over them. He is not finished asking his questions though. He turns towards Theo.
"Someone said that Donovan was killed. He was found torn to shreds." He says.
"Oh." Theo says.
"Do you know who would do that?" He asks.
There is a long silence. It makes Liam slightly uneasy at how long it lasts. He turns towards Theo again to look at him in the eye. Theo shifts closer and runs his fingers along his cheek again. Fingers brush his jawline and Liam's scalp tingles from the feeling.
"Theo?" He asks.
"Probably someone who was upset he didn't follow the plan." Theo says softly
