Liam's coffee sits in front of him. He stares at his blurry reflection in the black liquid. He does not think it is supposed to be this watery. He looks up to see Mason walk into the kitchen. He nods at him and lifts the coffee pot. He turns it around slowly and looks over at Liam. He smiles slightly and shakes his head. He pours the rest of the liquid down the drain and starts a new pot.
"What are you up to Liam?" Mason asks, after a few moments.
"I don't know. I suppose I should go talk to Stiles and Scott." He says.
"That's probably a good idea. They only care about you. You know that right?" Mason inquires.
"I know that, but their sometimes really in my face about everything. Mostly Stiles is like that, but now I feel that they don't trust me." He admits.
"I don't think it has anything to do with trust. I think it might be that they are concerned about you and choices that you have made." Mason points out.
"So, they don't trust me to make good decisions." Liam frowns.
"No…." Mason starts to say.
"Mason, I know your trying to help, but I don't think you can help with this. I would appreciate if people started telling me about what they know at some point. It is getting old and annoying." He scowls.
"I know and I have already told you everything that I know. OH NO. I forgot to call Brett about the plan today." Mason pulls out his phone fanatically.
Mason quickly dials the number and puts the phone to his ear. Liam hears it ring a few times and then hears Brett's voice. One side effect of being a werewolf.
"Hello. Thanks for calling." Brett says.
"I am so sorry. Time got away from me and we had a lot going on." Mason says.
"I know. Are you guys doing okay?" Brett asks.
"We are. Still have questions." Mason explains.
"And no answers." Liam says loudly.
"Right. Well, you and me both." Brett says.
"Maybe we can meet after the game?" Mason offers.
Oh, that is right. He has a game today. He gets up to shower and to get ready. He is playing Brett's team today and is not looking forward to it. Last time they lost miserably, and he does not want to repeat it. He also knows that he will have to deal with Scott and Stiles then. He tries not to be annoyed about it. He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair.
He heads up the stairs to shower and almost runs directly into Tracy. She scowls at him and narrows her eyes. He gets that Tracy never liked him, but she is always so hostile all the time. He steps back and allows her to walk past him. She swiftly walks by him and roughly hits his shoulder. He assumes on purpose, but he does not dwell on it. He walks into the bedroom and grabs his lacrosse clothes for the game. Stiles always says to shower after and not to worry about it, but Liam must shower before along with after the game. If he does not, he feels grimy and gross. Stiles has always teased him about it. He has started to miss Stiles.
Liam enters the shower and turns on the water. The water runs over him, and he tries to clear his thoughts from the day before. He wonders if whoever it was that is killing the chimeras, is going to come back. Corey and Tracy are the only ones left. A small tap sounds on the door.
"Yes?" He says.
"Do you want Corey and I to give you a ride?" Mason asks.
"Yeah, that is fine. I thought you guys were mad at each other." He says.
"Oh, well I was madder than him, but we are working on it." Mason explains.
"That is good." He says.
"You should talk to Scott and Stiles." Mason points out.
"I knew you were going to say that." Liam sighs.
"What? You guys have been friends for a while now. I mean they helped you with the whole werewolf thing and Scott is the alpha. You need to talk to them." Mason demands.
"I thought I am in a new pack now." He mutters.
"You are technically, but let's be honest. Do you really belong to this pack, or are you only here because your mad at your old pack?" Mason inquires.
Leave it to Mason to start becoming his friend and psychologist. He does not feel like he is only here because he is mad, but at the same time he cannot see himself fully leaving his old pack either. Why is everything so complicated all the time. He puts his head on the shower wall and turns off the water. He quickly dries off and gets dressed.
Mason and Corey are waiting for him at the bottom of the stairs. Liam follows them out the door and contemplates what to do on the car ride to the school. He cannot really leave the chimera pack. Especially since there are only a few of them left. He does not want to leave anyone in dire need, but he cannot ignore his old pack either.
Corey pulls into the parking lot and parks the car.
"I will see you guys after. Unless you are going to go to Scott's tonight." Mason says, looking at him.
"Is that really a good idea?" Corey frowns.
"Why wouldn't it be a good idea?" Mason asks.
"I don't like confrontation and Theo doesn't like surprises." Corey explains.
"Okay, well I am going to do whatever I feel like." Liam says.
Theo may be the alpha to the chimeras, but Liam feels he has a different relationship with him. Obviously more intimate than the others, but he also does not feel like he is treated like the others. He is not going to tell Theo everything he does, like Corey always does. He is getting sick of telling everyone everything when no one is talking to him about what is going on.
"Okay, relax. No need to get upset." Mason says.
Liam looks down at his hands and sees his claws poking through. He closes his fists and heads to the locker room.
The game goes the exact same way as before. Liam hits the ground with a hard thud and stares up at the night sky. He hates and likes Brett at the same time. Only when he is not playing against him does he like him. Brett puts his hand out and Liam takes it. Brett pulls him up.
"You seem a little distracted Dunbar." Brett smiles at him.
"Well, as you are aware there is a lot going on." He grumbles.
"I wouldn't know. You have been dodging my calls. I only know what Mason tells me." Brett says.
"DUNBAR. GET BACK IN THE GAME!" The coach yells.
He is not dodging Brett's calls exactly, but he already knows how he feels about Theo. He does not like to hear it. He knows what everyone feels about him. He shakes his head and tries to refocus on the game. He looks over on the sidelines and sees Mr. Douglas watching the game. He did not think Mr. Douglas watched lacrosse. Interesting.
"GET BACK IN THE GAME BEFORE I PLAY FOR YOU." The coach cries.
He rolls his eyes and gets his head back in the game. They play a little better after he refocuses. Stiles and Scott even pass the ball to him. Well, Stiles does not play a lot, but he cheers them on of course.
He limps towards the locker room and watches Mr. Douglas disappear inside the school.
"Liam. Hello, how are you? Anything new?" Stiles asks, putting his hand on his shoulder.
It is said very sarcastically, but Liam shakes it off and heads into the locker room. He sees Corey watching them, but he does not say anything.
"Hi, Stiles." He says.
"Hello, can we talk?" Stiles asks.
"Yes. Where is Scott?" He asks, looking around.
"He finished already. That guy can shower in 2 minutes if it means food. He is waiting in the jeep." Stiles smiles.
"Okay. I guess I should eat anyway." Liam shrugs.
He showers as quickly as he can and shoots off a text to Mason, to let him know where he is going to be. On his way out the door, Corey stands in front of him.
"I am not covering for you. You already know Theo is going to be annoyed by this." Corey points out.
"Ok, well Theo can call me and tell me that himself." He sneers.
Corey shakes his head and lets him by. Liam heads over to Stiles jeep. He opens the back door and slides in. Scott and Stiles both turn around and smile at him. This is weird. He thought they might be a little more upset with him than this. He frowns at both of them. He looks back and forth between them.
"Okay, we are trying a different approach." Scott says.
"Yes, because clearly you don't respond to anger, which is interesting because you're always angry." Stiles says.
"Stiles." Scott says.
"I know…" Liam starts to explain himself when his phone goes off.
He looks at the name flash on the screen.
"One sec." Liam says.
He gets out of the jeep and answers the phone.
"Hello." He says.
"Liam, what the hell." Theo says.
"What? I can see whoever I want to see." He growls.
"I never said you couldn't, but you could also communicate." Theo says.
Liam hears a hint of a smile in his voice. It sends shivers down to his spine and he swallows. He feels his wolf becomes restless and a growl forms in his throat. He swallows it down and looks back at Stiles, who is looking back at him.
"OK, I have to go. I will be back later." He says.
"Ok." Theo says.
He wasn't really planning on going back tonight, but hearing Theo's voice has thrown him off and it just comes out. He hangs up and gets back into the jeep. Stiles is frowning at him. He ignores it and gathers what he was trying to say.
"OK, so…." He starts to say.
"Let's eat first. I need food." Scott says.
Stiles starts the jeep and drives over to the burger place they always go to. It reminds him of simpler times between everyone. He orders the usual and waits for his food. Stiles keep looking at him, but he waits for the food. When the food finally comes Stiles starts to talk. He takes a deep breath and looks at Liam.
"Look, I feel that there has been some hostile feelings between both packs." Stiles says.
Liam looks at Scott who is eating silently.
"It is only hostile because no one tries to understand the other one." He points out.
"That might be true, but Theo is not always known for his honesty. How do you expect us to trust him after his past?" Stiles asks.
"Ok, but Malia had a not so normal past, and we seem to be okay with her. What about Peter." He points out.
"Peter is not in the pack, and we cannot get rid of him due to Malia." Stiles explains.
"So, you would get rid of people if you could?" He frowns.
"No. Scott a little help here?" Stiles asks, looking over at his friend.
"What Stiles is trying to say, is that we care about you. We want to make sure you make good decisions, and that Theo is not using you for something." Scott says.
"I am not a child. He is not using me for something. I get you guys feel that I can never handle myself, but I am not an idiot." He grumbles.
"We never said you were an idiot. I think you have a very good heart." Scott smiles.
"Yes, and somehow it likes Theo." Stiles says.
"Stiles." Scott warns.
"Okay, what I wanted to say is that we do care about you, and I will TRY to trust him. I don't but I can try." Stiles says.
"Ok." Liam says.
"Ok. So are you coming home?" Scott asks.
"Um…. not tonight. I promised Mason I would be back." He lies.
"OK." Scott nods.
Liam sighs and eats his food. It is better but he still feels bad about not telling them about the whole bite thing, but Stiles is really trying here, and he does not want to ruin it. He looks at his phone and sees how late it is getting. He needs to go soon. Scott still has not told him everything. Or he feels like he has not, but he will take whatever this form of peace is for now.
He gets back to the house late and slowly creeps up the stairs. He does not want to wake anyone. Theo is sitting on his bed.
"Are you normally sitting in the dark?" He asks.
"I learned it from you remember?" Theo smirks at him.
"Right." He says.
Theo pulls him down onto the bed next to him. He runs his hand along Liam's jawline and over his cheek. Liam shivers and looks up at Theo.
"Is everything okay?" Theo asks.
"Yes, or better at least. They said they will try to like you." He explains.
"Right." He smirks.
"Well, it is what they said." He says.
Theo runs his hand along his neck and starts nipping at his collar bone. He runs his tongue along his jawline and Liam sucks in his breath. His wolf sighs at the feeling. Theo's hand runs up his shirt and he pulls him closer.
"Theo, I have homework." He argues.
"So boring." Theo teases.
Liam's neck falls to the side as Theo bites down and kisses up to his earlobe. Theo runs his hand up his thigh and Liam bucks into the contact. Theo chuckles at him and slides his hand below his belt. Maybe he can wait a few more minutes. He groans as Theo slides his hand over him and kisses up his chest. He continues to shiver at the contact and his eyes flutter at the feeling of Theo's fangs grazing over him.
He holds the sheets in his hands and melts further into the bed as Theo slides his hands all over him. He finishes slowly and whispers Theo's name over and over again, until the sound of it is engrained into his brain. He starts to fade off into sleep when he remembers the project. He throws off the covers and sits up.
"You really care about your grades." Theo says.
"Well, Mr. Douglas hates things that are late." He groans as Theo pushes him back on the bed.
"Mr. Douglas?" Who is that? I don't remember anyone named that." Theo asks, pulling away from him.
"My teacher." He explains.
"When did he start?" Theo asks.
"You're not even there much. Why does it matter? I am not sure." He says.
"What does he look like?" Theo asks.
"Why does it matter?" He asks.
"I don't know. I vaguely remember someone I used to know saying that they go by Douglas." Theo says.
"OK." Liam sighs.
He pulls out his phone and scans his photos. As weird as it might be to some, he does have a picture of his teacher. Mason made him take it when Mr. Douglas told them that they was the only ones to get 100% on their last project. Mason takes all the credit of course and made him take a picture with him, along with the project. He thinks it is mostly because of Corey and his crush on Mr. Douglas. Mason wanted to show off.
He finds the picture and hands the phone to Theo.
"You don't know everyone." He says.
"That is not a teacher." Theo says.
"What? Yes, it is. That is my biology teacher. I have been going to his classes the whole semester." He points out.
"That is one of the dread doctors' experiments that was previously in a water cage." Theo says.
"What." Liam says.
"That is also your lowenmensch." Theo says.
"Wait, but Corey and Mason are with him tonight." Liam says.
"Why?" Theo asks.
"The project." He says.
Theo has never been one to be nervous or ever seem to be rattled by anything as long as Liam has known him. However, right now Theo's eyes show nervousness and something that Liam can only assume is fear. His skin grows cold.
"You should probably call Tracy." Liam says.
"You should probably call everyone." Theo says
