Chapter Fourteen

Elliot walked over to Emma, gesturing to meet him in the corner of the room. Emma followed him. Everyone just kind of went back to what they were doing before the kiss. Elliot's emotions were running wild. He wasn't sure if he should be angry or happy that she had given him that letter. Not really sure why she had waited this long, or Kathy had given it to Emma, was unknown. All Elliot did was pull Emma in for a hug. Emma smiled on the other side of that hug.

"Dad," A voice said, breaking their moment.

"Yeah?" He said, letting go of Emma.

"Carl and I are going to go. We'll drop Eli off." Marueen said, giving her dad a hug. "She's a keeper," she whispered into her father's ear.

After Marueen and Carl left, everyone started to leave as well. Kathleen and Elizabeth stayed back to start cleaning. They had both told Olivia she and her kids could go home.

"Bye, El." Liv said, walking past him. She clearly didn't want to talk about what just happened.

As Olivia was getting in bed she got a text from Elliot.

Elliot: About tonight… I'm sorry..

Olivia: It's okay…

Elliot: Won't complain if it happens again.

Olivia smiled. Olivia: Going to bed, talk tomorrow?

Elliot: Sure.

Olivia: Pick you and Eli up on the way?

Elliot: Sure.

Olivia put her phone on the night stand and went to sleep.

The next morning Emma and Olivia drove to pick up Elliot and Eli. Lucy took Noah to school that day, since Eli and Emma's school was on the other side of town. Elliot and Eli came walking out of their apartment building. Emma got out of the front seat and accompanied Eli in the back, allowing Elliot to sit in the front seat. Elliot and Olivia just looked at each other, thinking about the other night.

Emma put herself in between them and said, "Sorry to break up whatever this is, but can we go now? Or we're gonna be late." Elliot and Olivia laughed.

Olivia started the car and drove away. The ride to school was pretty straight forward until they hit unexpected traffic. No one was quite sure why they were stopped.

"Great, now I'm definitely going to be late." Emma said, to herself.

"Why are you so caught up on being there on time?" Eli asked.

"Because it's school and it's important." Emma said.

"Well I hate school," Eli added.

"Well maybe if you went to class you wouldn't hate it that much."

Elliot turned around hearing the news. He was angry at his son for skipping class, but instead of making a scene in the car all he said was, "Eli, maybe you should listen to Emma." He turned back around. "But we're gonna talk about you skipping later."

"So are we gonna talk about last night?" Elliot asked.

"Not in front of them. Come to the precinct later?"

"Yeah."

"Hey, Fin wants to know if you're coming in today, or if you're taking a personal day with Stabler." Emma chimed in.

"You know, you can tell Fin to shove it up his ass." Elliot said jokingly.

"Alright," Emma said, pretending to type that into her phone.

"No, don't say that, just say that we're stuck in traffic." Liv added.

"Oh," Emma said.

"What?" Eli asked.

"Fin told me that there was a semi that tipped over a few feet ahead of us." Emma said.

"Well that's unfortunate for the driver," Elliot said.

Just down a man wearing a black hoodie walked past their car. He stopped right in front of them. He held something up towards Olivia.

"Gun!" Elliot said. Everyone ducked down. The man fired two shots towards Olivia, breaking the windshield. The man left. "Everyone ok?" Elliot asked, as everyone sat back up.

"I'm ok," Liv said.

"But the car isn't." Eli stated.

"Thank you Eli for your concern." Elliot said. "We should get you to the hospital."

"El, I'm ok, really."

"Liv,"

"Fin," Liv said, rolling her eyes.

After traffic had picked up Olivia had Eli and Emma get a ride from a friend to school. Elliot drove Liv to the hospital to get checked out.

"Alright Captain, no broken bones and no bullet wounds. You're good to go." The doctor said,

"Thanks," Liv said.

"You got a good boyfriend, taking you in." The young doctor added.

"Oh, we're not together." Liv said.

"Well then," she said looking at Elliot. "You, me, dinner?"

"Tempting, but no thanks. My wife just died."

Elliot and Olivia walked to the elevators. "Really? Your wife just died?" Liv asked.

"It's true." Elliot explained.

"Yeah, but you kissed me last night."

"Or I just wasn't interested in a doctor."

"Oh no, not a doctor. You're just interested in a police Captain." They both laughed.

Later that day SVU caught another case which was quite stressful on the victim's side. The complaining witness kept recanting her statement, until Captain Benson told her that by filing charges would get her justices. Carisi had offered to let Emma intern in the DA's office once a week. At the end of the day Carisi dropped Emma off at the precinct.

"Where do you want her Cap?" Carisi said, as she dropped off Emma. It was dark in the precinct, everyone else had gone home.

"She can wait at Fin's desk." Liv said, continuing her paperwork.

Carisi said goodnight to Olivia and headed out. Just then Elliot walked into the precinct.

"Hey Sonny," Elliot said, passing Elliot in the hallway.

"Elliot," Carisi said back.

Elliot walked by Emma confused as to why she was here. He walked to Liv's office and knocked on the door.

"Hey," Liv said.

"What's Emma doing here?" He asked.

"Carisi dropped her off. She's interning at the DA's office." she explained.

"This is for you," Elliot said, laying a little gift bag on her desk. Olivia took it and openedit. He had given her a new necklace and medallion he had given her years ago.

"You mentioned how he took your other ones," he explained.

"Thanks El." Liv said, putting them in her purse. "I'm getting ready to leave, meet you downstairs?"

"Sure," Elliot walked back towards Emma. "Hey," he said, taking a seat next to Emma.

"Oh, hi." Emma said.

"Heard you're interning with Carisi."

"Yeah, it's fun."

"We gonna together one day?" Elliot added.

"Maybe, unless you retire first."

"Hey, I might be old, but I'm not that old," he said jokingly. "Why'd you give me that letter?"

"Why wouldn't I? It had your name on it. Felt weird if I hadn't given it to you."

"Did Kathy give it to you?"

"No, my uh, former foster mother gave it to me. Dani said that ASC gave it to her when she took me in."

"Dani?"

"Yeah, um, Dani Beck. She told me not to say anything to you."

"Yeah, we had history."

"Like how you and Olivia have history?"

"Something like that."

"You guys ready?" Liv said, walking towards them.

"Yeah, you guys go ahead, I'll be down in a minute." Elliot said.

Olivia and Emma walked into the elevator. "What's got his panties in a bunch?"

"Told him that his old partner Dani Beck was my foster mom before you."

Olivia had a surprised look on her face. The elevator doors opened and they both stepped off. As they were walking towards the doors there was a big explosion. Everyone down stairs got thrown left, right, up, and down. Elliot from upstairs heard the explosion, and ran towards the stairs. Quickly running down the stairs he opened the door to find people laying on the floor. He ran over to Emma, who was sitting up from being thrown onto the floor.

"You ok?" Elliot said, helping Emma up.

"Yeah,"

"Where's Liv?" Elliot said, looking around for her. He saw her laying on the ground. He ran over to her and she was breathing, but unconscious. "Call a bus!" Elliot yelled towards Emma. Emma walked over towards them while dialing 9-1-1, she saw Olivia's gift that Elliot had given her, she picked them up and put them in her pocket
