Chapter Fifteen
Elliot followed the EMTs into the hospital. The doctors and nurses told Elliot to wait in the waiting room. Emma had been taken to the ER as well for a checkup to make sure she was ok. She was cleared by the doctor to go home. Emma joined Elliot in the waiting room. When she walked off the elevators she saw a bunch of uniformed officers waiting as well, as members of Olivia's own squad. She even saw Kathleen, Marueen, and Dickie wanting in the room as well. Emma took a seat near Dickie.
"How is she?" Emma asked.
"Not sure, they'll only talk to dad, and dad won't tell us what's going on." Dickie explained. Emma walked over to the coffee station they had in the waiting room. She grabbed a cup, and filled it. She then walked over to Elliot handing him the coffee.
"No thanks," he said. Emma sat down beside him. They sat in silence. Just then a doctor came in. "Detective Stabler," The doctor said. Both Elliot and Emma walked over towards him.
"She is stable, but she lost a lot of blood. She's going to need a blood transfusion, but right now we're out of O, so unless we find a person who matches her chances are slim." the doctor explained.
"We're a match." Elliot explained.
"Donation center is right down there." The doctor said, pointing down the hallway. Elliot took off his jacket and handed it to Emma. Emma took it. She made her back towards Dickie.
"Where's he going?" He asked.
"To donate blood, I guess they have the same blood." Emma explained.
Ayanna and Washburn entered the waiting room. "How's she doing?" She asked.
"She's ok, she's stable, for now. She lost a lot of blood. But the doctor said she'll make it. Elliot is donating blood right now."
A few moments later Elliot came back down the hallway. He saw Washburn and Bell sitting alongside his family. "What are you doing here?" He asked.
"We came for support." Bell explained.
"Yeah, when your friends girlfriend is targeted for murder, we come and support."
"Not my girlfriend. But thanks Freddie."
"Find anything on Angela's case?" Elliot asked Bell.
"Not much, so far Wheatley's the suspect. We also think Wheatley is the one who gas bombed the 1-6." Bell explained.
It was close to 1 in the morning. Almost everyone had gone home. Elliot, Emma, and Bell had stayed in case anything had changed. Emma had fallen asleep on the waitroom floor.
"You really care about her, don't you?" Bell asked.
"What?" Elliot said, trying to stay awake.
"Emma, you care about her."
"Yeah, I mean she is family."
"Benson-Stabler." Bell said.
"Yeah, Benson-Stabler." Elliot repeated.
A doctor came in and told them that Olivia was in recovery, and expected to make a full recovery. The doctor said she was sleeping but that they could go and visit her. Bell said she was going to go home, but that she'll check in on him in the morning.
"Hey," Elliot said, shaking Emma up from her sleep.
"Huh?" she said.
"She's awake," Elliot explained. Emma got up off the floor and followed Elliot to Olivia's room.
She was sleeping and they both decided that she needed rest. The doctor had said that the hard fall caused internal bleeding, but they got it under control. Elliot had Emma and Eli spend the night at Rollins' house, along with picking up Noah from his friend's house.
Elliot spent the night in Olivia's room, sleeping in the chair. It was around 7am when Elliot awoke. He saw a few text messages from his kids and Bell asking how she was doing. He told them she was still sleeping but would update them when she awakes. He made his way down to the hospital food court and got himself some coffee and a breakfast sandwich. He brought his food back to her room and sat back down in the chair.
Around 8:30am Olivia woke up and saw Elliot sitting next to her bed. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
"What, you think I would go home?"
"What about Eli? Where's Emma and Noah?" Liv asked in a panic.
"They're all with Rollins." Elliot explained.
The doctor came in and took Olivia's vitals. They all looked pretty good. They wanted to keep for another day to make sure she was alright to go home. Olivia really didn't want to stay but Elliot said he would stay with her. He spent some of the day talking with Liv and watching TV. When Olivia finally got some rest he talked with Bell about the gas bomb at the 1-6. They were both sure that this was a Wheatley scheme, but that they were going to have a hard time proving that theory.
The next day came and went pretty slowly. Liv had a few visitors by Emma and Noah then a few of the Stabler kids. Fin stopped by as well. Chief Garland insisted that Liv took a day or two off before returning to work. But Olivia wasn't going to go for that.
That night Elliot and Eli came over to Liv's house and cooked dinner for everyone. It had been a long past few days, he decided everyone could use some good food.
"So Emma, how's school?" Elliot asked, trying to break the awkward silence.
"It's good." she replied. "A boy asked me to Winter Formal." she added.
Elliot paused as his fork was half way to his mouth, "A boy?" he asked. "Who?"
"Donavan Blake." She said,
"Do I know him?" Elliot asked.
"No, but his dad's on the force." she added.
"Who?" he asked.
"I don't know that's all he told me. I think he's with the 2-7. He's no detective, I think he turned that promotion down."
"Can I meet him?"
Emma didn't really know how to answer that question. "Noah, how's school going for you?" Olivia asked, putting the attention on Noah.
"It's best not to act like a teenager around him." Eli whispered to Emma.
"I can hear you," Elliot said, eyeing the two teens.
"School's good," Noah said.
The next day at work Fin and Phoebe had finally chosen a date for their wedding. Olivia was happy to see Fin happy, although she was a little concerned that they would "cancel" the wedding again. But she was excited to attend this one either way.
"You gonna ask Stabler to be your plus one?" Carisi asked.
"Shut up Carisi." Liv said, walking back to her office.
"You know, there's a time when you can ask that. That wasn't the time." Amanda added.
"Hey, we all know I'm right." he added.
