Another Street and Chris story enjoy :)
Hondo was furious the second he saw the reason why his two young SWAT officers hadn't responded to their emergency call. They were on shift, meant to be at HQ, and here he was watching the CCTV of them standing in line at the bank. He watched as they laughed about something side by side, not a care in the world. H paused the tape. He didn't need to see the rest of it to know they were trapped in there with the bank thieves. This was the fifth bank this crew had gone after this month, and not one of the jobs had ended without them killing a civilian or five - which had been the head count from one of them. He didn't want to think how much danger Chris and Street were in if the crew found out they had two SWAT officers among their hostages. He looked down at the paused image of the pair, he could only be thankful that their civvies blended them in with the rest of the hostages.
'How many are we dealing with?' Hicks asked him. They were stood on the road outside the bank surrounded by the usual police tape, police cars and police officers.
'The bank manager, three cashiers, and eight others; including Chris and Street.' Hicks who had been working on another tablet stopped on hearing their names and looked up at Hondo.
'Chris and Street?' he questioned across the couple of meters they were apart. He had spoken more loudly than Hondo, and Hondo watched his teams ears prick at the mention of their missing team mates names. 'Aren't they meant to be on shift?'
'Yes Sir. I don't know why they are here, but they are now stuck in there.' His team had closed the space between them and was stood around them.
'Chris and Street?' Luca was quick to question them. Hondo simply held out the CCTV video and pressed play on the tablet, allowing the team, and Hicks, to watch along with him. Chris and Street were still laughing, their usual playful pushing of each other was notably absent and Hondo knew he wasn't the only one suddenly realising how much they looked like a couple; a really happy one. His next breath caught in his throat as Chris slipped her arms around Street's waist. All their eyes were on Street and Chris, not one of them had taken note of the crew entering with guns. All they could see was Chris with her arms around Street, and then Street wrapping his arms protectively around her moving her out of harms way as the armed men made their way towards them.
The team were aware of the men moving around in the bank, but they couldn't tear their eyes from the couple. How had they missed it? It was so obvious now. How long had they been hiding their relationship?
'Did anyone know?' Hondo can't help his question coming out angrily. The looks of surprise coming from his team told him they were just at shocked as he was.
'They hid it well,' Luca spoke quietly. He was going over all the times Chris had been around to help them do up the house, or to play basket ball. He had been completely blind sighted.
The thieves were patting down all the hostages taking their phones. Street quickly pushed Chris behind him.
'Do you think they're armed?' Tan asked the room.
'God, I hope not,' Hicks spoke as they all watched Street get patted down, they retrieved his phone from his pocket. There was an audible breath of relieve as the man patting down Street moved onto Chris with out finding a gun.
They were on tender hooks watching as Chris tried to hand over her phone to prevent the body search. Street tried to intervene as one of the men snatched the phone but made a beeline for Chris anyway. Two men restrained Street pushing him to the floor on his stomach, gun pressed against the back of his head.
'She's got her gun on her,' Deac couldn't help but say. He could see it in their reaction. The next part was hard to watch. Street and Chris were closer to the camera than when the footage had started when they were in the line, and the team could see every detail play out. It was three armed men against them, the other three men had disappeared out of shot.
Chris's back was to the camera, hers was the only face they couldn't see. Hondo was glad he didn't have to see the fear in her eyes as the guy closed the gap between him and Chris so he was standing directly in front of her.
She tried to shrink away from his touch but he caught her by the arm and held her close to him. Normally she would have fought of any unwanted advances, but they were trying to be civilians so she just had to play along. He released her momentarily before taking her waist in both hands. The guy took his time going over Chris. His hands were all over her waist, legs and bum. He was wearing a ski mask, but they could all tell he was enjoying it. Luca's hand curled into a fist, he was going to make sure this guy paid. No one got to touch Chris like that.
He leaned into her face apparently whispering something to her before turning and making his way to the back of the bank. The footage showed that she was visibly shaking. The second Street could he was by her side pulling her into his arms. His head went to the top of hers and he held her like he may never let her go again. They were ushered to the same part of the bank as the rest of the hostages. Street sat them between the two friends on their way home from a weight watchers meeting, and the builder who had just deposited this weeks wages - of course Street didn't know who any of the other hostages were.
A couple of minutes past with them cuddled up together. Chris's head on Street's shoulder her mouth tucked up to his neck. Anyone who knew the pair could tell they were talking discreetly. Then the men found the cameras and didn't waste any time in smashing them. The last image they got of the two of them was Chris wrapped in Street's arms.
The footage stopped, but the team continued to watch the dark screen. On one hand they had been lied to for god knows how long and they were angry and upset; but on the other not one of them could deny how great the pair looked together, even in this dire situation. The love they displayed seemed to win out as the team dispersed a little to take their own breathing space. Hondo didn't have that luxury. He rewound the video and rewatched it, this time doing what he was meant to be doing the first time, studying the robbers.
