It's Destiny.
A/N: Hope everyone enjoys this one-shot! Warning, strong language.
"Are you serious!? Why in the world would we need help from some puny girl!?"
"This is not up for discussion, Inuyasha! You and Sango will go five hundred years into the past and find the last of Merlin's descendent!"
Inuyasha growled. "Damn it Miroku! Why the fuck do we have to do it!? Why can't you get someone else to do it, like that wolf-shit!?"
Miroku sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes, exasperated. "Because, Inuyasha, I asked you to do it! Plus, I don't trust anyone else to do something this important, now go before I fire your sorry ass!"
Standing off to the side, Sango stood back shaking her head used to the chief's and his right hand man's daily quarrels. Miroku threatened to fire Inuyasha almost everyday, knowing the threats were always empty, she smiled before walking to stand beside Inuyasha.
Grumbling, but not saying another word Inuyasha threw a black circular device on the ground. Swiping up from his smart watch to pull up a see-through screen in front of him. Typing in the coordinates of when and where to go both him and Sango stepped onto the circular device as it grew larger and started giving off sparks of static electricity.
As Miroku watched Inuyasha and Sango disappear, he sighed and ran a hand through his short black hair. 'I'm getting to old for this shit.' He sighed again as he turned to retire back into his office to see if he could connect the dots again. 'Not that it would do any good. We've tried for three months to connect these fucking dots and always run into a dead-fucking-end!' He growled as he concentrated on the many strings and pictures that littered his wall, each string and picture dictating where the murder happened trying to pin point his pattern. He looked at all the faces that lost their lives and felt like shit because he couldn't avenge them because he didn't know where the fucker was! The bastard choose a different method when killing each of his victims always leaving them where they will be easily found, but everyone found in a different place. No one ever saw anything or knew anything that happened when the murders took place. The only two things that connecting all the murders to one person instead of multiple people doing the murders were; one: he killed only young women and two: he always left a spider shaped burn mark on the victims backs. If it weren't for those two things he would swear that it was different murderers.
That's as far as it got, though, Miroku still didn't know who the murderer was or where he was hiding. They had absolutely no leads, no clues and no where close to closing the fucking case and taking the bastard down-dead or alive, he didn't care at this point as long as this shit show was over.
Not so long after the first murder happened three months ago the first threat came in, demanding that they hand over a sacred necklace that enhanced the wearers abilities and strength. If he were denied then there would be more destruction and death. Only a day after the first letter came, a hoard of demons came attacking the city. They were able to evacuate the city and kill the demons, but there were still casualties. They dusted the letters looking for fingerprints or anything they could use to identify the person behind all this, but always came up empty handed. The only signature the letters had was a spider shape stamp on the bottom of the letter.
Miroku plopped down in his chair and ran his hands down his face. He didn't know what to do, he's already held so many conferences and tried to strike so many deals with whoever was doing this, but to no avail-the only thing he wanted was the necklace. However, there was no way that Miroku was going to even have the necklace with in reaching grasp of this monster. He had it, of course, he kept it in a demon proof lock box in his office, never having it from his reach. He wasn't bound to just hand it over to someone already so powerful, even if it was just a way to get the fucker out of hiding, it was far to dangerous. They had tried to destroy it, but nothing that they did worked. They tried burning it, ripping it apart-everything but the necklace held fast.
Recently Miroku had come across of prophecy telling of a young woman that was a witch, but with unimaginable power that far exceeded that of a simple witch. It was said that only she could find and defeat whoever was doing this. It also said that she was the only one that can destroy this damn sacred necklace.
Miroku leaned back in his chair with a sigh and prayed that the girl would help them and hoped that she would really be enough to end all of this.
-X-
Kagome sat on her couch listening to a news reporter talk about the pandemic stay-at-home order that been extended for another month-not that Kagome really minded since she was a homebody anyway, but now that her choice to go out and do whatever she wanted was taken away from her she realized how bored she was and how badly she wished that she could go out. However, even if she did go out she would still be alone because she didn't have any friends and her parents died in a plane crash three years ago so now it was just her, herself and she. The only things she ever did was go to work, the gym, the store and then back home. She lived out in the middle of nowhere far away from everyone and surrounded by a thick layer of trees, just like she liked it. It wasn't that she disliked people, per say, it was just her parents kept her hidden from the world all of her childhood and teenage life-hence the no friends-and, now, she didn't want the risk of anyone finding out who she was.
Now she had no job-she lost it because of the pandemic, the gym was closed until further notice and she no longer went to the store-opting to shop online instead. She saved up some money for emergencies, but her funds was dropping fast. She applied for unemployment a couple days ago but haven't heard anything back yet.
Oh, and let's not forget that she's a witch, in fact she was the very last witch alive-the rest having been killed by people that didn't understand something that was so very different from what was considered normal. Yes, she knew there were evil witches out there giving the few good witches a bad name, but she was a good one-she didn't want to cause anyone any harm so she just stayed to herself not bringing attention toward herself. She always knew she was a descendant from Merlin from her father's side, her dad had powers as well, but like every wizard and witch-their powers held their differences. Sure, they held similarities, but only the basics-what anyone could find in spell books, the more advance powers were always different.
Her father had always told her that she was something very special, destined for greatness and needed to be protected at all cause. Unlike the others that only held one advance power-some even two. They could either bend fire, air, earth, water, paper, metal, see the events that happened at any given place, control the weather, read minds, levitate things with their minds or the ability to heal. Only one or two, but never all.
Kagome, however, was different than the rest. She had the ability to bend and use all of them, which had never been heard of before. She had spent her whole childhood going from master to master learning to control and perfect her powers. For that reason she was homeschooled making abso-fucking-lutely no connections with anyone her age-again, hence the no friends, but through her hard work she was able to master all of her abilities while still keeping her multiple powers a secret from everyone. She kept trying to tell herself that she was fine with that and that she didn't need any friends and that she was fine by herself, but she couldn't escape the crushing loneliness. Ever since her parents died the loneliness started creeping in no matter what she did, she couldn't stop it.
She usually practiced her mind reading at the store or at the gym, but since those was out of the picture she was worried that she would become rusty at it. Before she wasn't able to block out anyone or just tune into one at a time, so she heard everyone all the time. Over time, though, she learned to block everyone out and tune into just one person at a time. She was relieved when she got that particular ability down because that had been a headache trying to listen to everyone's minds at the same time.
For her healing she took daily walks in the woods surrounding her house in hopes of coming across an injured animal so she could keep her healing abilities up to par. For her ability to see what happened in any given place she would go from room to room in her house trying to see as far back as she could. Right now she could see what she did a week ago-came in handy whenever she lost her keys or phone. For water, air, earth and fire she just went outside and just had fun, since she was in the middle of nowhere and she owned the land she didn't have to worry about anyone or getting into trouble with the law or the landlord. With metal bending she had a big box of different sizes of flat pieces of metal that she bends into a bunch of different shapes, she had a lot of metal knick knacks decorating her house. She played around with the weather making it rain, snow, sleet or making weak tornados happen just over or around her house so no one could see. While she was sitting around her house bored she would levitate everything in whatever room she was in and she always kept a lot of paper around. She could turn paper into anything she wanted-that was paper related-she could even turn a regular rectangle piece of white paper into money and it'd be real, but she didn't like doing that-it felt like cheating or stealing to her. She felt very confident in her powers that, should the need arise, she was sure she'd be able to help and prove to people that not all witches were monsters.
Kagome sighed as she turned the T.V. off, stood up to stretch and then walked down the hall to take a nice hot shower when blue static electricity enveloped the living room.
"Wha-what's happening!?" Kagome shouted as she saw two people-a man and a woman-materialize in the center of her living room.
The man was tall with long silver hair and golden eyes. He had a strong jaw with what seemed to be a permanent scowl on his face and he was handsomely tanned. He had claws that tipped each finger and when he opened his mouth Kagome saw that he had fangs. He wore a police uniform, but Kagome could see that it didn't belong to this jurisdiction, and had a badge on the left side. He had a necklace on that had black beads and white fang beads after every five black beads. He had on a police hat and black sneakers to complete his look.
The woman had long dark brown hair that she wore up in a high pony tail and was tall as well, but just a head shorter than he was and about maybe three or four inches taller than Kagome was. She had magenta eyes and a slender face and was also beautifully tanned. She wore that same police uniform as the man with the hat and black sneakers as well, though, she noticed the woman was not wearing a necklace like the man was-she wondered why.
"What the hell is going on here!? Who are you and why are you in my house!?" Kagome yelled, her eyes wide with shock and a little bit of fear.
"I'm Special Agent Sango Watakshi, you can call me Sango, and this is Special Agent Inuyasha Taisho, you can call him Inuyasha." Sango introduced.
Inuyasha took in the look of Kagome, she has long black hair that she threw up into a messy bun on the top of her head. She had deep pools of brown eyes that he found he could very easily get lost in and she had very fair skin and a pair of plump pink lips that looked very inviting. She looked like she was getting ready to go to bed wearing a pair of booty shorts and a spaghetti strap top. She looked beautiful to him, but Inuyasha being Inuyasha opened his mouth and put his foot right in.
"I thought all witches were ugly." Inuyasha mentally cursed at himself, why the hell did he say that? That's not what he wanted to say!
"Excuse you!? For one, who the hell do you think you are!? And for two, that's just a stereotype, something that people make when they either are scared of something or don't understand it. With witches, it's both so people make us out to be ugly on the outside like they think we're ugly on the inside."
"Well, all witches are evil, so it makes since." What was wrong with him? Geez why can't he just keep his mouth closed?
"Again, another stereotype. Yes, most witches are of ill intent, but there were some that only wanted to blend in and live in harmony with humans. Some witches, like myself, just wanted to live in peace. Wait, how do you know that I'm a witch?"
"Well," Sango started, "it's a long story and it's kind of unbelievable."
"Try me." Kagome challenged.
"We've come from five hundred years in the future to ask for your help. The future is in grave danger and we need you to save all humans and demons alike." Sango said.
'What!? Five hundred years in the future!? Is this some kind of joke?' Kagome wanted to laugh there was no way that they were from the future! That was absurd, time travel didn't exist-it wasn't possible! These people must be fucking crazy! 'Still how did the just materialize in my living room? Is it possible that they are telling the truth? No, there's no way! This is to crazy to be real! I'm asleep, that's it! I'm asleep and dreaming. I have to be!
"I-is this a joke? What's going on?" Kagome questioned.
"Keh, you're the one that's the joke. There's no way that this stupid girl is the one we're looking for." Inuyasha growled out removing his hat to run a clawed hand through his silver hair before jerking his hat back on.
Kagome quickly looked away from the adorable dog ears and had to force herself not to walk over, rip his hat back off and rub his ears between her fingers. Trying to cover up her blush she shot Inuyasha a death glare and using her wind power pushed Inuyasha down with a powerful gust of wind making him eat her carpet, hard and said the first thing that came to her mind. "Sit, boy."
Inuyasha growled and jumped back to his feet. "What was that for, stupid?"
Kagome threw him down again with another powerful gust of wind and growled louder. "SIT, BOY!"
"Would you stop that!? Damn it! Stop treating me like some fucking house pet!" Inuyasha growled jumping out of a creator in her living room that was shaped just like him.
Sango tried her hardest not to laugh, coughing in her hand to cover up a chuckle that seeped passed her lips. She knew she'd get along very nicely with this girl. Before Inuyasha could continue their little fight Sango took a step forward. "Please, you have to come back with us, without you we are doomed! I know this all sound far fetched and crazy, but please come back and help us!" She begged.
"Go back with you? To the future you mean?" Kagome considered it, could she trust these people? Were they really from the future, or were they just some people wanting to get rid of the last witch? She didn't know, but she was willing to take a chance, she was getting really bored with the way her life was now and she could use a little excitement. Just to be sure, though, she did a quick sweep of their minds and finding no deceit decided to trust them. "Okay I'll go." She said turning to go back to her room to pack a suitcase.
Inuyasha rolled his eyes and went to follow after Kagome. "Hurry up, girl, we ain't got all day!"
Having enough of Inuyasha calling her names Kagome growled. "My name isn't 'girl' it's Kagome."
Inuyasha snorted. "Come on, stupid, we're wasting time!"
"It's not stupid, either."
"Would you quit bitching and hurry the fuck up!?" Inuyasha yelled.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you came here asking for my help, but I just changed my mind! Maybe you should go ask someone else for help!" Kagome yelled, throwing the armful of clothes at Inuyasha's face.
Inuyasha tried to fight off a smirk, just barely succeeding to not smirk. 'Feisty bitch, aren't ya?'
"Please, don't mind him!" Sango said running into the room, hoping to stop a fight before it got to much out of hand. "He's just being a cranky dog. Please, please come with us! Please, you're our last hope!"
Kagome nodded, still sending death daggers at Inuyasha, but bending down to pick up her clothes to put them in her bag. "How long will this take?"
Sighing, figuring he should get some of the explanation out of the way Inuyasha grumbled under his breath before sucking in a breath. "We're not for sure. It's already been three fucking months since this case has started. We've recently found a prophecy saying a powerful witch, that is the last descendant of Merlin, will come and help us. It didn't go into very much detail about what this witch's power is or why she's so special, the only information the fucking thing gave us was her name and her whereabouts."
"It's you, Kagome. You are the one that's destined to save us all." Sango added.
'You are destined for greatness, Kagome.' The voice of her father rang through her mind. She felt her eyes moisten, but quickly drug the heels of her palms across her eyes to keep them from falling. She cleared her throat, trying to get to lump out of her throat so she could breathe again. Blinking the rest of the tears away she hurried up and finished packing her clothes. She turned and saw Inuyasha holding the picture frame that held the picture of her parents and herself.
"Those are my parents." Kagome whispered, wondering if what she's going to do would make them proud of her.
"Do you need to call them and tell them what you're going to be doing?" Sango asked.
Kagome shook her head, taking the picture from Inuyasha and placed it in her bag. "They died in a plane crash three years ago."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Sango said looking at the floor.
"It's okay." Kagome said forcing a small smile, though it didn't reach her eyes. She then turned to run into the bathroom to gather her brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo and conditioner-walking back into her room and throwing them in her bag before zipping it up.
Inuyasha stepped up, pointing a remote that had two buttons on it at the bag before pressing a button. Kagome watched in amazement as her bag began to shrink small enough to where Inuyasha could put it in his pocket.
"We'll go into more detail about everything when we get to the police station. Are you ready to go?" Inuyasha asked looking at Kagome.
Kagome nodded and follow Inuyasha and Sango back into the living room where the black circular device was still sitting on the floor. They gestured her to step on it while Inuyasha pulled his screen back up to type the coordinates before they stepped on the device with her.
Watching as the static electricity engulfed the room again, she suddenly felt like she was floating through the air.
-X-
Miroku paced his office, his arms were crossed across his chest and his face was drawn into deep concentration. There was another report of a young lady being murdered and a spider burn was found on her back. Also, another hoard of demons were on the rampage in downtown. This was all getting out of hand and he hoped that the prophecy was right and that this Kagome girl could really help. The fate of the city-and quite possibly the world-was in her hands.
Miroku was looking at the newest picture on his wall, the woman was only twenty years old for crying out loud! She was the youngest one that died at the hands of this animal. All the women were young, none of them reaching the age of thirty, this young lady was the tenth one to meet her demise at his hands. They've tried everything to get this creep to come out into the open, but nothing has worked. This Kagome woman was their last chance at finding this fucker.
Static electricity filled Miroku's office and he spun just in time to see three figures materialize in front of him. "Are you Kagome?" He asked and at the young woman's nod he let out a breath of relief. "Come, please sit down. We have a lot to discuss." He said leading her to a chair that was in front of his desk. Walking around his desk to sit in his chair. "I assume they didn't explain as to why we desperately need your help?" At the shake of Kagome's head Miroku nodded. "There is a killer going around and killing young women. We don't know anything about him, have never seen him or even know his name. He doesn't leave anything to trace him with, no strands of hair, no fingerprints, no fingernails, no nothing. We've tried everything we could to catch this monster. You are our last hope, Kagome, will you help us?"
Kagome nodded. "I will. What's his motive? Why is he doing all of this?"
Miroku sighed and opened his lock box that held the powerful necklace. He didn't touch it because it would overcome him and possess him so he just turned the lock box towards Kagome so she could see it.
"A necklace? He's causing all this destruction for a necklace?" Kagome look back up at Miroku raising a delicate brow. "Why not just give it to him?"
"Because this isn't just any ordinary necklace, this necklace is called The Sacred Necklace and it enhances the wearers power and strength as well as possesses them to do the necklaces bidding. It's said in the prophecy that the one who is meant to help us has the power it takes to wear this necklace without being overpowered by it, is the only on who can control it. Also, when the evil is defeated, she is the only one who can destroy the necklace." Miroku explained as he pushed the lock box closer to Kagome. "Take it, Kagome. Take it and wear it, so in the end it can and will be destroyed."
Shocked Kagome slowly reached out and took hold of the necklace staring at the simple chain that held a pink crystal on it.
"Now, I already know that you are a witch, but the prophecy didn't explain why and how you will be able to help us. Do you mind going into detail of all you can do?" Miroku asked.
"Yeah, sure. I can bend water, earth, air, fire, paper, metal, I can see the events that happened at any given place at any given time, I can control the weather, read minds, levitate things with my mind and I can heal." Kagome listed off as she put the necklace on.
"And how are you any different that other witch that ever existed?" Inuyasha asked rudely.
Kagome shot Inuyasha a look, but answered anyway. "Any other wizard or witch only has one or two of the advance powers while I can wield all of them. No one knew though, not even the mentors that taught me-I only saw one mentor at a time, my parents were the only ones that knew. I was hidden away for obvious reasons, now not only am I the only witch that has all the advance powers, I'm the only one that's still alive. All the others got hunted down and killed, but since no one knew about me no one came looking for me. No one knew I was a witch so I was able to stay alive and blend in with the ordinary humans."
Kagome watched as they all nodded at her answer. Miroku leaned forward resting his elbows on his desk and bring his hands together in front of his face. "You said that you can see the events that happened at any given place, right?" At Kagome's nod, Miroku quickly stood up making the rest of the people in the room to look at him strangely. "There was another murder while you all were still in the past. Kagome would you come with us to the crime scene and tell us the events that happened?"
Kagome stood up, wanting to do whatever it takes to help these people out. "Yes, let's go."
Following Miroku out into the hall, Inuyasha, Sango and Kagome saw everyone running around frantic and answering the never ending calls. All these murders and demon attacks were freaking everyone out. The station receiving hundreds of calls a day trying to see if they progressed any further into the case.
"Koga, Ginta, Hakkaku, Shippo-come with us-you're back up. Kirara, you're coming as well, we need you to draw up Kagome's description of the killer." Miroku ordered and watched as all the people he just called out to nod their heads and then got ready to leave.
Walking outside, Kagome looked around to see what car they all be taken but not seeing any cars around she got confused. She looked even further, but still didn't see any form of transportation anywhere, it was like a ghost town for cars. How was they going to get there?
"What are you looking for, stupid?" Inuyasha barked.
"My name is Kagome! Ka-go-me! It's not that hard of a name to remember, dog-boy." Kagome replied snidely making everyone-excluding Inuyasha-snort to cover up a laugh. She looked up at Miroku before asking where the car was.
"Oh, cars don't exist anymore, too dangerous." Miroku said with a shrug and pointed over to what looked like to be an old train station. They walked in and Kagome saw as people stood over large white circles that were placed all over the floor, they had large see-through screens attached to them and she watched as a person typed in something and then they disappeared.
Kagome gasped. "Holy-wow! This is how you get around now!? That's so cool!"
Inuyasha rolled his eyes. "This is going to be a long night with you being amazed for something stupid, you stupid girl."
Kagome growled, used her wind to make him eat the garnet tiling of the train station floor. "Sit, boy."
Inuyasha jumped up. "Damn it, bitch! Stop doing that."
"Sit, boy." Kagome said again making him face plant on the ground. "My name is Kagome, dog-boy, not bitch."
Miroku, Koga, Ginta, Hakkaku and Shippo all stood there wide eyed, jaws hanging wide open as they watched Inuyasha peel himself off the ground, all of them thinking the same thing. 'Remind me not to get on her bad side.'
Sango was just trying her hardest not to laugh, having already seen her make him 'sit'.
Inuyasha, finally able to stand up, growled while thinking 'hmm, this little game might be fun. Let's see who wins Ka-go-me.'
Walking up to the transport pods, Miroku typed in the coordination's motioning for everyone to step on the pod before pushing send.
Arriving at the crime scene, Sango pulled Kagome away from the group, before they walked into the abandoned building. "I just wanted to warn you that what you're about to see may not be pretty. I wanted to make sure you were prepared before seeing something as gruesome as that."
Kagome smiled warmly at Sango and grabbed her hand giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Thank you, Sango. I think I'll be okay, I just want to do what's right and help in anyway I can."
Sango nodded giving Kagome's hand a squeeze in return and followed everyone into the building.
Everyone watched with baited breath as Kagome reached out to touch the wall. Inuyasha couldn't explain it, but he felt the overwhelming need to run to her, grab her and run away to protect the small girl from every possible harm that may befall her. However, he clenched his fist and forced his feet to remain where they were. He didn't even know the stupid girl for crying out loud! He should not be feeling the way that he was feeling!
Kirara got her sketch pad ready for when Kagome started to describe what the murderer looked like and Miroku put on a recorder to document everything.
"Okay, when I start, please don't say anything or touch me, no matter what I might do. It'll break my concentration and make me lose the scene." Kagome explained and at everyone's nod of understandings she reached out to place her hand against the wall, her brow furrowing in concentration. "I see three people, they seem to be waiting on someone. There's one man and two women. The man has a narrow face with a long skinny nose and thin lips. His eyes are blood red and his hair is black long, wavy, and oily looking. He's skinny, but well built and was wearing a deep purple v neck short sleeve shirt and black jeans. He's wearing some kind of spiky armor that has a sideways red eye in to center of his chest and what look like tentacles coming out of his back."
"The first woman is slender with black hair that she has up in a bun with a white feather sticking out of it. Her face is slender with a short nose with blood red eyes as well. Her lips are thin with red lipstick on. She has on a red short sleeve shirt on with blue jeans. She has a fan that she seems not to go anywhere without, it's white with two stripes of red that meet up together at the top of the fan."
"The second woman is shorter, not as slender as the first one but not chubby either. She has dark brown eyes that look void and dead, a short nose and almost no lips at all. She has white hair that barely passes her shoulders with a white flower in her hair. She is wearing a plain white short sleeve dress that ends just below her knees with white flip-flops. She is also holding a round mirror in front of her chest."
"The man is talking to the woman with the black hair, he called her Kagura, he asked her when the girl was suppose to meet them. Receiving his answer he turned to the woman with the white hair, he called her Kanna, he told her to reveal the girl-which she looks in the mirror and an image of the girl walking toward the building shows up on the surface. They lied to her, telling her that she was coming in for an interview for a very secret job and they needed to be in a deserted place so no one would find out."
"She enters the building and the man starts talking, he introduces himself as Naraku. He's sitting behind a desk and tells the girl to sit in the only seat that's in front of the desk. He's asking her questions about The Sacred Necklace. She tells him that she has never heard of The Sacred Necklace, but he keeps asking her over and over again but she keeps telling him that she doesn't know anything about it. He's really angry now, because she has no idea what he's talking about as he shouts that there's no use for her and stabs her with one of his tentacles." Kagome gasped as she saw the girl getting stabbed and had to put her other hand up on the wall to brace herself to keep her from falling.
Inuyasha had to practically nail his feet to the ground in order to not go over to where she stood and jerk her away from the wall and envelope her into a protective hug. 'Damn it! Where are all these feelings coming from!?'
"They're about to leave now." Kagome continued with a sniffle. "Naraku told Kagura to put the woman on the steps outside so someone could find her and then said something about going back to the castle and letting a hoard of demons out to play." She opened her eyes and wiped at the tears that were streaming down her face.
Miroku pressed stop on the recorder as Kirara stepped up to show Kagome the drawings. "Do these look like the people you saw?"
Kagome looked at the drawings and nodded, she then looked at Miroku and Inuyasha. "I'm sorry, I need some air." She ran out and slumped against the wall and slid down till her butt was on the ground. She tried to regulate her breathing and her erratic heartbeat, but that had been a shock to her-she had never witnessed a murder before and it scared the crap out of her. She tilted her head back and closed her eyes taking slow deep breaths. After a couple minutes she started feeling better when she heard someone sit next to her.
"Are you okay?" Kagome heard Inuyasha say and she opened her eyes to look at him.
Kagome took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, I'm okay. That was just a shock, I've never seen anything like that before."
Inuyasha nodded. "Yeah, this job ain't always pretty. Lot of fucked up people out there."
Kagome sighed and leaned her head back again to look up into the dark sky. "I suppose you're right."
"Keh, 'course I am."
Kagome's lips twitched, but before she could say anything Miroku and the others came out.
"Let's get a move on. There's an old castle about ten miles from here, we'll start our search there." Miroku said.
Inuyasha stood up and offered Kagome a hand, she smiled and reached for his hand, pausing once her skin contacting with his as a spark of electricity traveled up her spine. She heard Inuyasha gasp, 'did he feel the same thing?' She thought as he pulled her up to her feet.
"Thanks." She whispered, she tried to hid her face as she felt a blush steal across her face.
"Keh, don't mention it." He grumbled, Kagome peeked at him from under her eyelashes and smiled a small smile as she saw him scratch the back of his neck with his own blush coloring the bridge of his nose.
-X-
"So they are finally coming? Perfect." Naraku's evil laughter filled the room.
"Look, Naraku, the girl wears the necklace that you seek!" Kagura said.
"Then the girl shall die by my hands."
"The girl is a witch." Kanna whispered.
"A witch? Kanna don't be daft, witches were all murdered hundreds of years ago, there's no more alive." Kagura stated in a bored tone.
"They went back into the past to bring her here to destroy Naraku." Kanna answered in her dead voice.
"Kagura, wait outside for them. Make sure you give them a proper greeting." Naraku ordered.
"Fine, better than staying in this stinking castle." Kagura muttered as she walked towards the exit. She sighed and leaned against the outside wall of the castle with her arms crossed. She didn't have to wait too long as she watched a group of people materialize in front of her. She sighed, looking incredibly bored as she flicked her wrist opening her fan to prepare for the fight.
Not giving the group a chance to do anything, Kagura sent the first attack towards them. "Dance of blades!"
Kagome reacted immediately by stomping on the ground bringing up a thick wall of rock in front of them, effortlessly blocking the attack then letting it fall once the attack subsided. She then swung her arm up and several huge rock boulders came out of the ground, she levitated them at different points in the air so she could run and jump on them to get up higher in the air. She started to make it rain because the air was so dry she couldn't pull any water out of it, making a few balls of rainwater she threw them at Kagura turning them into ice as sharp as knives.
Kagura gasped and jumped out of the way, just barely missing the sharp ice as it crashed and shattered on the ground. She swung her fan towards Kagome and with a big gust of wind, knocked Kagome off her boulder sending her to crash against the hard ground.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha called out as he watched her fall. There was no way he'd get there on time, but, just as she got closer to the ground she used her own wind to slow down her fall and Inuyasha released the breath he didn't know he'd been holding.
With Kagura's attention on Kagome, Sango took out a miniature boomerang out of her pocket and sat it on the ground. Using a remote she pointed it at the small boomerang, pressed the button and watched as the boomerang grew in size. She picked the boomerang up and threw it at Kagura, but with a flick of her wrist Kagura sent it back towards Sango. Kagome watched the weapon soar towards Sango and sent a huge gust of of wind to knock the boomerang to the ground. Sango breathed a sigh of relief and sent a nod of thanks towards Kagome.
Inuyasha cursed, that had been a close one, and pulled out a small sword before throwing it on the ground. He pulled out a remote next, pressed the button and watched as his sword grew in size. He pulled the sword out of his sheath transforming it into a huge sword, he then swung it down yelling out "wind scar!" An array lines of light came out of the sword, destroying everything in their path.
Once the smoke cleared everyone could clearly see that the battle was over for Kagura was unconscious, clearly hurt, but still alive. Inuyasha used his handcuffs to secure her hand and Kagome used some rock to attach the handcuffs to the ground, should she wake up she wouldn't be able to escape.
After Sango picked up her boomerang they all ran inside of the castle.
"Kagome, can you tell where he is?" Miroku asked, not seeing any sight of Naraku and not wanting to waste time looking for him when they could easily tell which way to go with Kagome leading the way.
Kagome nodded and placed her hand against the wall. "This way." She said walking while dragging her hand against the wall, making sure they were going the right direction.
After walking down hall after hall Kagome spoke up again. "We are getting ready to run into Kanna." She whispered.
The next corner they took they saw Kanna standing in the middle of the hallway holding her mirror.
'Suck out the witch's soul, Kanna.' Naraku's voice rang inside Kanna's head and she activated her mirror to do just that.
Kagome gasped in pain as she fell to her knees clutching her chest as a pure white mist started to seep out of Kagome.
"Kagome!?" Sango yelled horrified.
"Kagome!" Inuyasha yelled at the same time as Sango.
Miroku grabbed his now enlarged monks staff and ran towards Kanna, swinging it hard, hitting her in the side. Kanna fumbled with the mirror, losing her concertation while half of Kagome's soul was inside her mirror-she watched as Kagome fell weakly on the floor. With Kanna being distracted Inuyasha unleashed the wind scar, but was shocked as he watched Kanna suck his attack up in her mirror. He didn't have enough time to get away and was hit with his wind scar as Kanna sent it back towards him.
Kagome, weak but still conscious and able to move, started muttering a chant under her breath. Everyone, excluding Inuyasha, watched as Kanna's mirror started to shake and crack, but Kagome lost consciousness before she could make it break the rest of the way.
Sango threw her boomerang at Kanna and since the mirror was damaged she couldn't send it back at Sango. The boomerang made a direct hit breaking the mirror and ending the fight with Kanna by knocking her out. Sango used her handcuffs to cuff one hand to a bench that was nailed to the floor.
The group watched as a pure white mist left the mirror and went back into Kagome, make her take a big gasp of breath and go into a coughing fit. Damn, she's never had her soul stolen before and Lord she prayed it never happened again! After the coughing fit subsided, she was still feeling weak, but she got up on her hands and knees and crawled over to where Inuyasha laid motionlessly. She laid her hands on him and knitted her brows as she concentrated in healing him. After a couple minutes Inuyasha sucked in a breath and shot up to sit up, still feeling week from having her soul taken from her Kagome clasped against Inuyasha, but stayed conscious.
"Are you okay, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked throwing an arm around her to support her he was concerned with the way Kagome heaved when she tried to breath.
"You... called... me... Kagome." She managed to say between her heaving breaths.
"Keh, don't get used to it, girl." Inuyasha muttered, but Kagome knew he was just trying to lighten the mood just a little bit so she smiled weakly.
"I... just... need a... moment to... heal... myself." Kagome said as she closed her eyes and leaned against Inuyasha for support.
About ten minutes later Kagome was feeling well enough to continue on. They turned down a couple halls, with Kagome checking the walls to see where he went. "He's in that room." Kagome said pointing at the last room down the hall.
Koga, Genta and Hakkaku all took out their pistols out while the others stuck with their chosen weapons. As Koga went up and kicked the door open, he was hit in the face with miasma. Kagome quickly blew it away from Koga and away from them before it did any real damage. They saw Naraku standing in the middle of the room with a murderous look on his face.
"I should have known Kagura and Kanna were to weak to take you down. But, I promise you, none of you will leave this castle ever again." Naraku sneered darting his tentacles, but was blocked when a rock wall was thrust in front of the group. "Oh, I almost forgot about the damn witch. Well, I just have to take you out first!" Shooting another tentacle out that was heading straight for Kagome, that was promptly cut off by Inuyasha's sword.
"Don't you fucking touch her, you damn bastard!" Inuyasha growled releasing the wind scar.
Everyone gasped as they saw Nararku throw up a barrier, blocking the wind scar. Inuyasha immediately turned his sword red and swung again, effectively destroyed the barrier. He released another wind scar, Naraku was hit but still alive.
Naraku released more miasma trying to make his escape, Kagome noticed and cleared the miasma again with her wind and threw a fire ball at him, which he dodge. He, however, couldn't dodge the boomerang that hit him in the side knocking him down to the ground.
Quickly recovering, Naraku got to his feet and shot a tentacle out so fast that no one was able to do anything but watch as Sango was stabbed through the gut.
"Oh, no! Sango!" Miroku yelled as both him and Inuyasha tried to slow down the bleeding.
Kagome saw some metal on the ground levitated it towards her where she shaped it into hand cuffs, she then levitated them again while Naraku was trying to fight of the others and handcuffed him to the wall. She then started chanting under her breath and after a minute of her chanting Naraku started to scream as if he was in pain. Kagome just continued to chant louder in a language that no one in the room even understood. Naraku's screams got louder and louder until he finally slumped forward breathing hard and Kagome stopped her chanting.
A couple seconds later Naraku muttered, "what did you do to me bitch?" He looked up and everyone gasped as they took in the light brown color of his eyes.
"You were a half-demon so I just took your demon out of you and rendered you an ordinary human." Kagome quickly explained then turned, not giving Naraku and more attention, to run towards Sango to check her pulse. She had to have a pulse, Kagome couldn't help anyone if they didn't have a pulse. Sighing in relief when she felt Sango still had a pulse, it was weak, but Kagome could still work with that. She closed her eyes and her brow furrowed in concentration as she put her hands over Sango's wound and pressed down.
Naraku lost his fight as he slumped to the ground.
Miroku ordered Koga, Ginta and Hakkaku to take the three prisoners to the jail house.
It took about thirty minutes of Kagome pushing on Sango's wound until anyone started seeing any results, all their mouths dropped as Sango's wound started to slowly close and Sango started to breath a little easier. Another twenty minutes later Kagome let out a hard gust of breath as she let go of Sango's healed belly and slumped forward breath hard. She had never healed a wound of that size before, but was proud of herself as Sango opened her eyes.
"Sango, are you okay?" Miroku asked taking her hand in his.
"Is it over?" Sango asked and breathed a sigh of relief at Miroku's nod and nodded back. "Yeah, I'm okay." She looked at Kagome, who was still breathing hard. "Thank you."
"You're... welcome." Kagome breathed out and Inuyasha moved to sit beside her to rub her back.
"Are you okay, Kagome?" Inuyasha asked in concern.
Kagome nodded. "Yeah... I'll be... fine in... a minute."
"There's a hotel just across the police station that you can stay in and rest. It's late and I'm sure you're exhausted, but before we go-I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. We couldn't have done it without you." Miroku said with gratitude seeping out of his voice.
"You're welcome." Kagome said feeling a lot better. "I'm glad I was able to put my powers to great use." She shrugged. "It's destiny. My dad always told me, before he died, that I was destined for greatness and I'm happy that I got to prove him right."
Miroku nodded. "Well then, tomorrow we'll take care of the necklace and then hold a press conference and then, I guess, send you home."
Inuyasha couldn't understand the ping of pain that went through his chest at the thought of Kagome going home. Rubbing at his chest he tried to ignore the urge to get down on his knees and beg until Kagome agreed to stay here, in this time, with him.
"Oh, home? Yes, of course." Kagome muttered, not quite sure why the feeling of dread was building up in her gut at the thought of having to leave Sango and Miroku-at having to leave Inuyasha. She looked at Inuyasha and saw him rubbing his chest looking at the floor-his hair was hiding his face so she couldn't see his expression.
Kagome couldn't explain it, but the first time she saw Inuyasha she had felt a tug at her soul, like it was him she should be with. That was ridiculous though, wasn't it? She doesn't even know the guy, but she couldn't help nor stop the feeling that she belong with him and he belonged with her. 'I wonder if Inuyasha feels that same way? Oh, who am I kidding? He doesn't even know me and I don't know him! For all I know he could already be in a relationship!' She thought with a defeated sigh.
The next day Inuyasha and Sango went to pick Kagome up from the hotel. Knocking on the door it took multiple knocks for a tired looking Kagome with bags under her eyes and a messy case of bed head to answer the door.
"What the heck are you still sleeping for, woman?" Inuyasha said gruffly.
Kagome shot him a nasty look, yawned and sleepily said. "It's Kagome, dog-boy! And if you didn't notice we stayed up fighting evil till like dark thirty so I'm so sorry if I'm just a little tired you inconsiderate jerk!"
"Keh, whatever, just hurry up and get dressed so we can go!" Inuyasha ordered.
Kagome rolled her eyes, leaving the door open so they could walk in, she turned to get some clothes out of her suitcase then went to the bathroom to take a quick shower and get dressed.
After taking a little longer shower, if only to piss Inuyasha off, she took the extra time to blow-dry her hair and style it in loose curls that hung over her shoulders. Walking out of the bathroom, going as slow as she could, she saw Inuyasha with a scowl on his face and Sango who was trying her hardest not to laugh.
"What took you so long, stupid girl, we have to go so you can go home and be out of my hair!" Inuyasha yelled at Kagome.
Using her wind power she made Inuyasha eat the hotel's carpet. "Sit, boy! Excuse me if I didn't want to get back to my boring life just yet! Excuse the hell out of me if I just wanted to feel important for just a little bit longer because I hadn't felt like that since my parents died! Let's go, I'm tired of looking at you face, dog-boy!" Stomping around Inuyasha, who was still face down on the ground grumbling, Kagome grabbed her bag and stomped down the hallway mumbling about a certain inconsiderate silver haired half dog demon.
Finally peeling himself off the floor he sighed and no one could see Inuyasha's ears plaster to his head because of his hat. He didn't really want to see Kagome leave and he cursed at himself for being the inconsiderate jerk that she claimed him to be because she was right.
Arriving at the the police station a short time later, Inuyasha, Sango and Kagome entered Miroku's office.
Miroku looked up from some paperwork he had been working on and stood up when he saw who had entered his office. "Good morning, Kagome. I hope you slept well. Are you ready to destroy the necklace?"
"Good morning. Yes, I slept okay and yes I'm ready to destroy this thing." Kagome said taking said necklace off and putting it on Miroku's desk. She lifted her hand in front of her face, closed her eyes and started chanting under her breath. Minute by minute her chanting grew louder and louder as the necklace lifted off the desk before combusting into flames. Kagome continued to chant louder and louder-so loud that the other three occupants had to cover their ears-until the necklace was nothing but ash sitting on top of Miroku's desk.
"It's finally gone." Miroku whispered in disbelief, then looked up at Kagome in unabashed wander. "What-how can we ever repay you?"
Kagome waved her hands in front of her. "Oh, don't worry about it, I don't need any payment."
"Keh, stupid, who refuses payment?" Inuyasha mumbled.
"What do you mean 'stupid'? I only did what's right!" Kagome yelled getting into Inuyasha's face.
Inuyasha snorted, folded his arms across his chest and looked away. "Whatever."
A couple hours later the press conference took place. Miroku explained who the killer was and what Kagome did to ensure the safety of the city. He answered questions and Kagome answered the ones that were directed towards her. The conference lasted a little over two hours and when it was over Kagome and the others were back inside Miroku's office staring at the black circular device that was sitting innocently on the floor.
'Why can't I step on it? I don't want to stay here, especially not with that jerk!'
'Lie' Kagome heard her heart whisper at her.
'Ugh! what do you know?' Kagome yelled back at her heart.
Inuyasha stared at the coordinates, but couldn't press the button to activate the device. 'Why the hell can't I press the damn button!? Why do I feel this way? This girl means absolutely nothing to me!'
'Lie' Inuyasha growled at the little voice coming from his heart, he knew he had to say something. He couldn't watch her disappear from his life.
Inuyasha growled making everyone look at him with shocked expressions. "Damn it! Kagome, I know that I don't say anything right and I always seem to put my foot in my mouth and piss you off, but damn it I can't watch you disappear from my life. I can't explain why or how it happened, but you've become very important to me. I'll try to work on my gruff attitude and I can't promise that I won't ever piss you off again, but please, stay here with me."
Kagome gasped. "Stay... here?" Kagome asked. 'Can I really stay here? Would I be allowed too? I really want to stay here.' She looked at Sango and Miroku and saw hope and pleading eyes.
Inuyasha grabbed Kagome's hand making her gasp when the electrical current went through her hand again and she looked back up at him. "Please Kagome. I-I can't-I won't watch you leave. Just, please, stay."
"You-you really want me to stay?" Kagome felt her heart pound in her chest. She felt so hopeful, she couldn't explain why, but she felt like she was suppose to stay in this time, like this was where she belonged-where she needed to be. She felt she was suppose to be here with Sango and Miroku-meant to be here with Inuyasha. "Could I really stay here?"
"I want you to stay, too, Kagome. I know that we really haven't known each other for very long, but I already feel like you're my best friend that could blossom into us being as close as sisters!"
Kagome's lips twitched as she looked at Sango. "You know, I've always wanted a sister." She then looked back at Inuyasha she squeezed his hand. "Okay, I'll stay."
"You'll stay?" Inuyasha asked, not believing his ears.
"Yes, Inuyasha, I-ahh!" Kagome was cut off as Inuyasha wrapped his arms around her waist and spun her around.
Inuyasha thought Kagome's laughter was like music to his ears and he loved it. When Inuyasha put her down Sango came up and hugged her as well.
Miroku smiled as he watched them, there was a part of the prophecy that he didn't tell anyone. It said at the end, the witch and half dog demon would fall in love and the witch would stay in the future and they all would live happily ever after. 'They'll be good for each other.'
Please review! I hoped you all liked it!
