I do not own Genshin Impact or Fate.
English is not my strength so apologies for any grammar or spelling errors.
ExiledLagacy: I personally think Vennessa would also match Shirou. Beyond the fact that their pretty much gender bends of each other in terms of design. Their desire to save people is also there.
Guest: Yes! Someone noticed the Carnival Phantasm connection!
That's all.
I hope you all enjoy.
Fuyuki city was a rather unique place in both the realm of the ordinary and the magical. For most people it was in the city's layout. The Miyama half of town consisting of old traditional Japanese homes and even some western style ones. To the god of Commerce however interest lay far more in the younger Shinto area which could now be seen from the hills of Miyama as servant and master made their way up to the church.
In the process the duo were forced into battle against cars whizzing by. Or more accurately they coughed in annoyance from the exhaust.
"Those vehicles certainly produced mixed results." Zhongli remarked as for the third time in the day he checked over his clothing to clean any dishevelment. A god even in disguise still had certain appearances to keep up.
"I take it you're not a complete fan of the modern era then." Waver remarked as he thought of Zhongli when he was actually enjoying himself during that horrific crazed shopping trip of yesterday.
In response to Wavers question the duo stopped walking and Zhongli looked out towards the city as he answered. "That would be a correct way to describe my opinion, yes. Although perhaps too negative in tone. It would be best to say that I find it full of both positives and negatives. This world of yours is obviously very different from my own. But in many ways, its ironically the same."
Wavers raised an eyebrow, "Ironic?"
"Yes, specifically in terms of mortals. Technologically speaking your Earth is very different from Teyvat and yet the people are very much the same in their desire for leisure, work, relationships, and so on." The god of commerce then physically pointed to the business centre and harbour as he told Waver, "Take Fuyuki's downtown for instance. It's similar to Liyue with shops and stalls for people doing business, a harbour for the shipping of goods, and roads for transport. There are of course differences such as the development of suburbs but at the core of all the legal, technological, and infrastructure systems are the exact same goals. I find it ironic that the mortals would stay the same as they are known mostly for their change among immortals, especially Adepti."
Well, a mixed reaction was better than a negative one thought Waver. It also made sense when he recalled Zhongli's enthusiasm of the shopping trip yesterday. But the dream he had experienced that night made him feal the opposite. The constant feeling of everything changing, dying over millennia, and Morax's desire to still lead his nation. Perhaps, it was a good thing that the god felt a sense of familiarity. Something to ease the divine beings worries.
But there was a question in Wavers head. He wasn't sure if it was his own as he once again felt the conflicting nature of his dream fill his head as he asked Morax, "Are you going to take some of the idea's here and use them for Liyue?"
"Overall, I still have to do more research on this world. But, in the end, I suspect that I will try to implement some aspects of this worlds societies in my own." Although Zhongli wished that he could have learned about such things before faking his death, "While also trying to make sure certain other aspects and mistakes never come to pass." He'd have to find a way to put regulations on certain business practices and make sure basic needs weren't commodified by the market. Perhaps a last decree by Rex Lapis conveniently found by Ningguang?
Wavers thoughts were completely in line with Zhongli's as he himself could think of a few things he would like to get rid of from society.
Stupid high lords and their aristocracy faction. Stupid Kayneth.
As the young Count indulged in his little daydream the duo made their way up the hill at which point, they made it to the church surrounded by its small stone wall and currently open iron gate.
The building in many ways represented the odd differences and similarities between Teyvat and Earth for Zhongli. Here despite being so far away from the lands he knew the exact same structures could be found. Not from Liyue but in Mondstadt as the church seemed to be a downsized version of Barbatos's church what with the use of white stone and a vaulted roof. He was certain the insides were laid out the same as well.
Another mystery to solve the god supposed.
Zhongli took a moment to look around the expansive courtyard before stepping inside. He sensed that nothing was off but then again, the magic or magecraft here was a bit more subtle than in Teyvat. Still he did sense magecracft . Better safe than sorry he decided as he asked Waver, "Do you sense anything out of the ordinary?"
"No, everything seems normal." Replied Waver as he wondered what could be off to make a god hesitate. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for the magus.
So why was a god worried about entering a… Church... And suddenly Waver realised something. He had just brought a god to a Church. The Church of another god. He physically slapped himself in the face, as he shouted, "How could I be so stupid?! Sorry I completely forgot the church was to another deity which I know is obvious but-!"
Zhongli raised his hand to settle the boy down. A little embarrassed and worried that he had come off to Waver so far as being the divine equivalent of bourgeois. "I assure you I feel no offence at being at the temple of another god."
"I find that hard to believe." A high royal voice said in a factual manner.
The god and human turned their heads to the origin of the voice as before the church doors a man in golden armor materialised out of thin air. His arms crossed over each other, his face stern, and eyes judgmental.
The word which first came to Zhongli's mind in regard to describing the person before him was arrogance. The arrogance found in a mortal, yes. But importantly not the arrogance found in a human.
Rather the person which first came to the warrior gods mind for comparison was Osial. For the arrogance of both was not of mere haughty words but could be backed with action. That is if the aura which surrounded the golden man was to be believed. But despite the overwhelming impression of divinity in both appearance and tone this man gave off with but a few words that hint of a mortal constantly seemed to be a part of his being.
Zhongli had felt this before not too long ago. A presence which was not of Teyvat but one which was now in it.
The Traveler, one both ancient and immortal as from divinity and yet eternally youthful in mind.
Zhongli was admittedly slightly unsure on how to proceed. A single word could further anger the being before him even more than he already was. An anger which was clearly directed at himself for some unknown reason.
Still, battles were not permitted at the church between servants. So, it was logical to assume that the person before him wouldn't start a fight.
Thus, Zhongli simply asked, "And why is that stranger. Have I committed any actions in the past or of now indicating as such?"
A snort left the man's mouth as he replied with, "It has nothing to do with your actions but rather your nature. You cannot change what is inherent in a creature. Especially in those of the divine who are incapable of change."
Zhongli replied with the same answer he had given to Waver when they first met. His tone respectful and calm as always. "Well, I'll certainly admit that I am slow to change but hardly static." As for your first point. I do believe that I have demonstrated it to be false what with my lack of anger so far."
"Yes, I suppose your control is to be acknowledged. Although only as fact and not as praise. For how long it lasts however, we will have to see."
"You'll have to forgive me, but I am rather unaware of your identity. Still, I assume based on your hinted intimacy with the divine I should be aware." Zhongli said while bowing his head to the side respectfully.
A pleasant laugh escaped the golden man's lips as his seriousness for the first time since the conversation started seemed to disappear, "The fact that you are aware of my importance places you well above most of the other mongrels I have dealt with so far in this era. Still, your ignorance just like your presence in this world cannot be forgiven. So, dread the future which awaits you mongrel for you stand before the ruler of Uruk, the rightful ruler of this world, the first hero, the King of Heroes."
The fact that the man only listed his titles confirmed much of Zhongli's impressions about him. None of them good.
That and despite not knowing much of this world. Based on the maps he had seen he was certain that no single individual ruled over its entirety regardless of what age it was.
Not even Celestia was capable of such a thing and Teyvat was smaller than the earth in terms of its surface area.
Along with this Zhongli still did not likely have enough information to do any research on this King of Heroes. For titles could be passed down or altered over time. He needed a name.
Fortunately, Waver knew the answer as he blurted out, "Ruler of Uruk? First hero. Your Gilgamesh!"
Ah yes, now that would help.
"Indeed, so you're the mongrel who went against my rule and summoned this god. Rest assured I shall deal with you later. Now tell me of your identity." Gilgamesh said as he held out his open hand. As if the name Zhongli would say would literally fly out of his mouth and into his fist for it to crush.
As Gilgamesh threatened Waver Zhongli stepped in front of the boy partially shielding him from sight. Gilgamesh raised an eyebrow at that as the god replied with, "I ask that you not threaten my master for I have a contract to protect him. As for my identity I am currently Zhongli, consultant of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor." The god of commerce was not going to miss out on a free advertisement opportunity, "But if you refer to the divine being I can become then you are in the presence of the god Morax."
Waver was happy Zhongli left out his over titles including his element of Geo as Gilgamesh's presence seriously began making him think that the gods power alone wasn't enough to win a fight. He felt very small next to these two.
As for Gilgamesh a confused look actually adorned his face at Zhongli's words. But before the king of Heroes could inquire further a thunderous voice from within the church shouted, "And I am Iskandar King of Conquerors!" The church doors were then swung open with such speed and force that the King of Heroes actually had to move out of the way unless he get hit in the face by them.
The man to walk from inside the building was muscular, very muscular, adorned in red clothing and a red beard with his hands raised in the air as if victorious from a battle as he continued with. "Alexander the great, and son of Zeus! So, you are the god who defied the rules of the world. It is an honor." He finished by coming up to Zhongli and with one hand grasped both of the gods and shook them with over enthusiastic powerful delight.
Gilgamesh, Zhongli, and Waver were united in differing levels of incomprehension at the scene before them. With Waver having his lower jaw down as far as it could go and Gilgamesh being so hot he could heat the underworld. Zhongli eventually just decided to treat the manner as a diplomatic one between nation or city leaders and continued to shake the newly named Iskandar's hand.
Gilgamesh needless to say did not take the situation well, "Mongrel you dare interrupt a meeting to determine the fate of the world-"
"Ah you had all the time you needed to get his name Goldie!" Iskandar then tilted his head in Gilgamesh's direction as he told Zhongli, "You wouldn't believe how much he wouldn't stop talk about you when we were all in the church. He had to be the first to get your name and wouldn't stop complaining until we all agreed."
It appeared childish behaviour wasn't just limited to the young on this world thought Zhongli. "My, apologies I hope I didn't cause to much trouble."
"Oh, none at all. If you hadn't decided to show up like so many believed than I would have seen you as a coward. But not only did you come but right at the crack of dawn to!" Iskandar finished his handshake and then proceeded to pat Zhongli on the back once again irritating the god. Was everyone who had something to do with magecraft so childish on this world?
The answer to that question came when more people exited the church, particularly one with blond hair and a fine blue suit who screeched in anger, "Don't insult the god Rider!"
Waver immediately recognising the voice of Kayneth jumped back well behind Zhongli to the point he couldn't be seen by anyone emerging from the building. This however only further annoyed the god as Waver was clinging to his clothing so tight that he might actually rip them.
"Apologies for my husband and his servant's actions Lord Morax. They can be very emotional on issues they care deeply about. Please forgive us for not demonstrating the proper respect." Said Sola-Ui from behind Kayneth as she then proceeded to walk in front of her husband without looking at him and bowed deeply before the god.
Again, much to Gilgamesh's anger which the ever-growing audience seemed to be less aware of as time went on with the exception of Zhongli.
"There's no need for a bow madam. I appreciate your husbands concern and Riders enthusiasm. The attention you have all given me and my master along with the King of Hero's has honoured us. But please call me Zhongli."
Gilgamesh let out a "tch" from his lips as he was well aware of Morax's irritation even if it wasn't on his face. It was easy for the King of Hero's figure out a god's emotions for he had grown around up them and knew of their more rare and subtle jesters.
Plus, he himself was two-thirds divine and was very much annoyed at the situation. What with all the mongrels sucking up to the god in his presence. The only reason they hadn't all been skewered yet was because this was a part of his test for humanity.
None of the mongrels were passing it yet.
Kayneth calmed down when he heard the words uttered by the god and tried to readjust himself so he could reply to the being before him with all the respect the El-melloi name could muster. Although that was rather hard to do what with Rider still having an arm around Morax's shoulder. This resulted in the lord's emotional readjustment falling flat an irritable frown appeared on his face directed at his servant. He would have also grumbled about Rider revealing his own identity. But that disaster had already happened well before Morax's arrival at the church with all the servants in attendance. Needless to say, the lord wasn't having a good day.
His frown was then joined by another who also happened to be blond although that was where the similarities between the two ended as they were to be adversaries in this war.
Specifically, she was the servant of an enemy master, "You've certainly shown more respect than Rider or Archer have thus far." She remarked absentmindedly before recognising her error, "My apologies, I am King Arthur Pendragon, King of Knights, and ruler of Britain. As you are not a part of the faith I follow I will not be submitting to you. I do this not as a sign of disrespect but rather out of principle." She finished in a respectful tone.
Another king of Zhongli thought before replying in an equally respectful tone with, "That is quite alright. You have your contract and I have mine King of Britain." The aura between the two seemed to be in harmony as they both gave each other a barely noticeable yet understanding look of professionalism which communicated their frustration with certain servants.
Saber then proceeded to turn around and extend her hand like a knight as she introduced a white haired red eyed woman, "and this is my master Irisviel von Einzbern."
Zhongli made a note of the slight change in tone when the word master was said. For he knew she was lying. A servant she may be but still very much human. What confused him the most however was that it didn't seem to fit her character. True he had seen her for less than a minute, but he knew humans like Saber that gave the same impression of always doing what they felt was right.
Zhongli put a pin in it as he then turned his head to face Waver. Indicating that it was time for his introduction to the other masters making the young boy gulp but nevertheless give a nod in approval. "And the master I have made a contract with, Waver Velvet."
For a moment the eyes of every magus in the church went wide, especially Kayneth's. As they lay witness to the person who had somehow broken the laws of Gaia itself.
They couldn't all but collectively blurt out loud, "WHAT!"
This was also happened at the Clocktower who were viewing the situation through familiars inside the building much to Melvin Weins delight.
