Well, Maybe I'm in Love
Ginny found herself staring as she tried to set up her drum kit on the platform at the back of the stage. She couldn't help it. The lights just seemed to make Luna's blonde hair glow like threads of golden silk. Her butter yellow dress certainly wasn't helping either. It made her look positively ethereal. Ginny shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts and focus on the task at hand. They didn't have long, only another hour to finish setup and soundcheck, and then they'd need to go eat and get ready to go on stage.
They were still a relatively small band, just starting to gain a real following, but they were good. Sometimes it frustrated Ginny that boy bands could gain a massive following just by being cute, but a band of four attractive females with much more talent struggled to get any attention. But then she'd think about it, and truthfully, she didn't much fancy the idea of being followed around by a bunch of tween boys. Still. A little more popularity would be nice.
Ginny glanced at Luna again, getting so distracted by her bandmate that she missed the cymbal stand and dropped her hi-hats on the floor with a loud, echoing crash. Her bandmates all looked up, alarmed, and Ginny felt her cheeks redden. As she bent down to pick up her cymbals, she heard footsteps approaching.
"Dude, what the hell?" Pansy hissed at Ginny's side.
"What?" she replied.
"Just never seen you drop something before, that's all," Pansy answered with raised eyebrows. "What's going on?"
Ginny blushed even more. "Nothing, I just… got distracted, that's all."
She couldn't help glancing over Pansy's shoulder at Luna, and the other girl doesn't miss the action. Pansy smirked knowingly.
"Got it, got it," she said, unable to hide her amusement.
"What?" Ginny said again.
"Nothing, I just wouldn't have expected that," Pansy replied with a shrug.
"Expected what?" Ginny snapped.
"You and Luna," Pansy said, as if it were the most obvious thing on the planet. "I didn't think she was your type."
Ginny gaped at her, shocked by the insinuation.
"She's not," she asserted, tripping over the words slightly. "I don't… I don't… there's nothing going on!"
"Maybe there should be," Pansy replied, shrugging against.
"What do you mean?" Ginny said, furrowing her brows.
"You're obviously attracted to her," Pansy answered. "And you get along pretty well. So maybe you should explore what's between you."
"I'm not attracted to her!" Ginny denied. "I mean, she's pretty obviously. Like really pretty. And of course we get along, we're in a band together! But that doesn't mean that I like her, you know, not platonically. She's sweet and witty and super smart and probably the most unique person I've ever met and… oh my god. Pans, am I in love with Luna?"
"'Bout damn time," Pansy replied, grinning. "Now maybe you should go tell her."
"I can't do that," Ginny said, her eyes widening.
"'Course you can."
"But what if she -"
"Good god, Weasley, I've never seen you so thick before," Pansy sighed, more than a little exasperated. "The feeling is obviously mutual, so get it together and just tell her."
"Really?" Ginny asked, a strange excitement blooming in her chest.
"Yes."
"Thanks, Pansy," Ginny replied, smiling as her bandmate walked away.
Still holding her hi-hats, Ginny glanced at Luna, smiling happily at the front of the stage. Now that she had admitted it to herself, there was no denying it. She was totally into Luna.
