Chapter 50

It was Monday morning, Jack had to go to work. Charlotte came to stay with Elizabeth while he was at work. Jack has helped Beth get Jarrick off to school and helped get the little ones up, changed, and fed before he left. The doctor call and told Beth that her tests were scheduled for in the morning at 8:00. She text Jack.

B: tests in the morning @ 8:00.

J: k. I'll take off and go with you. We'll get mom to stay with the little ones.

B: sounds like a plan. I love you!

J: I love you to Sweetheart! See you about 5:30.

B: see you then!

She told Charlotte about her appointment in the morning and asked if she could come stay with the little ones? You bet I can, Charlotte said. The day went pretty well. Beth only had a couple of dizzy spells all day. Jarrick came in from school all excited. He dropped his backpack at the door as usual. He came in the kitchen all happy. Beth asks, what's got you so excited today? Jarrick replies, all my friends had a good time at my birthday party. That's all they talked about all day. They said that you throw a great party and they said that I could come to their party when it's their birthday! That's great son! I'm so happy that they enjoyed themselves! How about you take the rest of your cake tomorrow for snack time? I'll send plates and forks to! Can I? Oh mom the kids are going to love that. They thought that was the coolest cake that they had ever seen! Ok then, we'll drop you off at school and your dad can carry it all in for you! How's that sound? Cool he said! Do you have homework? Yes ma'am, math and spelling. Ok when you get done with your snack you need to get started on it. Yes ma'am.

Charlotte and Beth has made pot roast with potatoes and carrots. Charlotte had made yeast rolls to go with it. Beth helped set the table just before Jack got home. The food was in the warmer waiting for him. Beth and Charlotte was sitting at the bar talking when Jack came through the front door. He sat his backpack next to the door beside Jarrick's. He walks in the kitchen and kisses Beth on the temple and asks, how was your day? Any dizziness? She replies, good and just a couple. That's great. At least it didn't happen every time you got up! Charlotte got up and said, I'm going to go now that you're home son. She kissed them all goodbye and said, I'll be here at 7:30. That's perfect! See you in the morning mom! Thank you Charlotte for helping me today! Charlotte replies, it was my pleasure Elizabeth and hugged her tight!

The next morning Jack and Beth headed to her appointment. They sat in the waiting room waiting for name to be called. Jack asked, are you nervous? A little bit. Mostly just want to hurry and get the results back so we can get on with our lives. Sweetheart, what ever the outcome is we'll get through it together! Remember together we are stronger. About 15 minutes later Beth was taken back. Jack follows and asks, about how long will these tests take? The nurse said, it just depends if they see anything or not. If you'll have a seat right in there I'll come let you know just as soon as she's done. Jack kisses Beth and says, I love you Sweetheart! She replies, I love you too, Love! Jack's eyes become wet as he watches her go beyond the double doors that say, no visitors beyond this point. As the doors close Jack hit his knees and began to pray.

Lord please don't take her away from me. I need her as much as I need air to breathe. Lord you brought her into my life when I wasn't looking. I had closed my heart to ever love again. You gave us 3 beautiful babies. Yes you have brought them from premature to almost completely healthy 1 year olds. Jarrick loves her as his own mother. We all need her Lord. If they find out what her problem is please make it fixable. Please don't let her suffer with this any longer. In Jesus name. Amen.

Jack had tried to watch a little TV but couldn't get interested in anything on it. He got up and kept pacing the floor.

Meanwhile Beth was getting her blood drawn. They were doing a full work up on her. The the nurse took her to have a full body CT Scan. The scan started at her head and moved slowly. It stopped and started several times. She could her voices but couldn't make out what they were saying. She had closed her eyes just to relax. Finally after about an hour the table moved her back out and the lights came back on. She asked, are we done? The technician came on the speaker and said, almost. We are just looking over all the scans. Just give us a few more minutes. She laughs and says, I'm not going anywhere! After what seemed like about 30 minutes the nurse came in and helped her off the table. She told her that they were going to the MRI room now. As they were going down the hall she says, they are going to do the MRI with and without contrast. So you'll have to lay real still. Beth asks, can I have earplugs? I'll ask, the nurse says. She gets up on the table and lays down. The muse asks, she wants to know if she can have earplugs? The technician says, no because we want clear pictures of her ear canal. She tells Beth about the earplugs. Beth says, thanks for trying. The table moves her all the way in and the noise starts. They tell her try to relax and stay completely still. After the first set was done they bring her out and start the contrast. After about 5 minutes or so they run her back in and the noise starts again. This time it took longer. Beth was getting antsy. They tell her to lay still and don't move or they would have to start over. Beth says, I'm trying but the noise is starting to bother me. They say, we're almost done. After about 10 minutes the noise shuts off and they bring her out. They tell her she done great. The nurse came in and helped her off the table. Then the nurse took out to the waiting room with Jack while they waited for the results. Her doctor ordered the results immediately.

Beth was still in the hospital gown with a blanket across her lap. Jack knelt down beside her, took her hand and asked, how are holding up? She replies, I was doing good until I had to lay completely still after they put the dye in for the MRI. The noise was bothering me about 10 minutes before they were done. I've got a headache now. They said it might happen. They lean their foreheads together and Jack says, I wish I could take this from you. She says, I don't wish this on anyone. Hopefully it won't be to much longer. About an hour later the doctor comes out and takes a seat in from of her. He says, your blood work came back and your BUN and Creatin is a little low. They scans came back normal. So you are hypoglycemic. So the tired feeling and dizziness is from your sugar dropping. There isn't any medication that I can give you. When you start feeling dizzy and tired check your sugar and then eat a snickers or something sweet. That will bring your sugar back up. Make sure you always carry them with you no matter where you go. So that's it, Jack asked? Yes. Why didn't you run her blood work in your office? As I told you that it was possible that she might have something more serious such as the cancer that we discussed. I wanted to make sure that that wasn't the case. Everything she described to me in my office pointed to cancer. Well thank God it's not, Beth says. They say thank you to the doctor and he leaves. Beth and Jack hold hands and Jack says, thank you Lord for the blessing we received today! You are in control and we thank you for answering our prays today! In Jesus name. Amen. The nurse came in just as they were finishing their prayer. They open their eyes and look at each other and at the same time say, I love you so much! The nurse speaks up and says, you ready to go get dressed, Mrs. Thornton? She nods and smiles.

While Beth was in getting dressed, Jack walked down to the vending machine and got Beth a snickers candy bar. When she came out he handed it to her and says, eat this. She took it and ate half of it. She put the other half in her purse. She grabs his elbow and he escorts her out to his car. He opens her door for her. She turns around and kissed him. He wraps his arms around her waist and hugs her. He whispers in her ear, I don't know what I would do if I lost you. She whispers back, thank God you don't have to worry about it now! They stand there holding each other for a few minutes. Then Jack says, let's celebrate! I'm taking you out to lunch! Where would you like to go? Let's go to that Italian restaurant. I'm in the mood for some parmigiana chicken! Italian it is Sweetheart! She gets in the car and he shuts her door. As he gets in he calls his mom and says, hi mom great news, she hypoglycemic! I'm taking her out to lunch to celebrate! So there's nothing else wrong with her son? No mom just her sugar numbers are low. So we have to make sure we have plenty of snickers around. That's wonderful news! Yes it is mom! We'll be him in an hour or so! Take your time. You both deserve this time. The little ones are just fine. Now go enjoy yourselves! We plan on it. Hey Love? Yeah. How about we have the family over tonight and give them the good news? That sounds like a plan! Jack and Beth enjoyed their lunch together. They held hands while they ate. They each had a glass of red wine with their meal! There just happen to have a chocolate peanut butter cake on the menu. They ordered a slice to share. They really enjoyed this time alone together.

That night at the dinner table Jack sat next to Beth. He speaks up and says, we'd like to have everyone's attention please! Everyone stops eating and looks at him. Beth had all her tests today and the only thing they could find wrong with her was that her sugar is low. She is hypoglycemic. So the only thing that can be done for it is to eat a snickers candy bar. Lizzy that's your favorite. So she has to check her sugar 3 times a day and if it low she just eats a snickers. Daddy was mom sick? Well we didn't know. She was really tired and was dizzy sometimes but she had the tests today and that's the only thing that they could find wrong with her. So no Bud mom's not sick really! So just to be on the safe side I'm going to ask for your help starting next week until we get this under control. We don't know how long it will take for her to be back to normal. I'm taking the rest of the week off to help her. I'll go back to work on Monday. Everyone agrees that they will be there to help if she needs it. They said they would take turns coming! William speaks up and says, I would like to thank the Lord for bringing her through this. Everyone bowed their head. They all joined hands. William says, Lord we want to thank you for bringing Lizzy through this scare. We know you knew the outcome before but we give you all the praise and glory Lord and everyone says Amen! As dessert was served they all decided what each was coming. After everyone was finished they all got up and Viola and Julie cleared the table while Grace and Charlotte cleaned the kitchen. Beth says, I could've done this. Charlotte replies, not yet young lady. You have to get your strength back and as soon as you can go all day without a dizzy spell then you can do it. So until then we are here to help and that's that! Yes ma'am Beth says!

I hope you enjoy this chapter! I know this chapter is short but there really isn't anything else to tell with this situation. I wanted to bring some real life situations in beside with the triplets. I suffer with hypothermia myself. It's no fun at all when my sugar drops. Sometimes it takes me a few days to get back to normal. I promise no more problems for awhile!
