Lana tossed her bowling ball down the lane, and it rolled into the gutter almost immediately which made Chloe and Emmeline laugh from the chairs behind her. She sheepishly turned around in embarrassment. "Okay, so maybe bowling isn't my calling, but it is one of the last doctor-approved exercises left."

Chloe stood up and grabbed her ball from the ball return. "Look, Lana, I love bowling gutter balls just as much as the next girl, but I've got to admit, I expected something a little different for the bachelorette party." She rolled the ball down the lane and it made it halfway down before going into the gutter.

"Oh, nice!" Lana laughed as she clapped her hands. "I know I could have invited a bunch of girls and gone out in a limo for a night on the town, but this is so much more special."

"Yeah. Eating chili fries and knocking down pins."

"With my best friends, like we used to, one last time."

"Lana, you're getting married. You're not moving to Antarctica."

"I'm also having a baby. And I have a feeling that these girls' nights out are gonna be a lot harder to come by."

"I wouldn't be so sure. But just in case, let's document the night." Chloe walked over to the table and picked up her camera.

"Okay. All right."

"Ready?"

"Yes."

Lana posed for the camera and Chloe snapped her picture.

"Cute," she laughed.

"Here, let me take one of you two!" Emmeline smiled. She took the camera from the blonde and snapped a picture of Chloe and Lana together.

"We need one of all three of us! Here." Chloe took the camera and positioned Lana and Emmeline on either side of her, then snapped a selfie of the three of them. She turned the camera around to look at the picture. "As always, we look fabulous."

"All right, is it my turn to bowl?" Emmeline asked.

"Yep, try to aim for the pins, not the gutter like I have for the last two games."

Emmeline laughed and picked up her ball from the return. "I'll do my best."

"Excuse me."

The three girls turned to see a young Asian man wearing the bowling alley's uniform.

The man smiled at Emmeline. "I couldn't help but notice your form was perfect, but your wrist is a little off. You think I could give you a pointer?"

"Who's gonna man the shoe fort?" Chloe asked.

"I couldn't care less. My shift's over, anyways. Here." He walked up next to Emmeline, waited for her to position the ball in her hands, then looked down the lane. "Okay, you're gonna point the inside of your elbow straight down that lane."

"Okay," Emmeline said. "I guess it's worth a shot."

"Trust me. I've got the magic touch."

Emmeline walked up to the line and threw the ball down the lane, trying to ignore the eyes of her friends and the admittedly handsome stranger. Just when the ball looked like it was about to go into the gutter, it suddenly reversed course and hit the pins straight on, knocking them all down.

She turned and smiled at the others.

"Wow, nice tip," Chloe exclaimed as she looked up at the screen. "It's the last frame. You get to go again."

"Oh, okay." She picked up her ball from the return and went back to front of the lane.

"Remember what I said," the young man smiled.

Emmeline nodded and threw the ball down the lane once again. This time, it didn't head for the gutter. Instead, it went straight for the pins and knocked down nine of them. Then after a brief pause, the last one fell, seemingly of its own accord.

Lana happily cheered for her from the chairs, and Emmeline decided to ignore the strangeness of her win for the time being.

The young man smiled broadly and high-fived her.

"Good job, Em," Chloe said quietly, clearly also put off by the sudden strike.

"Thanks," Emmeline smiled.

"Why don't you give me your number, and I'll share a few more tips?" the young man said suavely.

"Oh, uh…"

"She'd love that!" Lana quickly said for her. She retrieved a scrap of paper and a pen from their table. "Here."

Emmeline nervously glanced at Chloe who knew exactly who she really had feelings for. But to save the man the embarrassment of rejection, she scribbled her number onto the paper and handed it to him. She figured that she didn't have to answer him should he call or text her, and if he got too pushy, Chloe and Clark would certainly help her get him to back off.

But then, maybe spending some time with him would help her get over Clark faster and also take her mind off the fact that Oliver still hadn't called her back confirming if he would teach her archery or not.

"Thanks. I'm Daniel Kim."

"Emmeline Brooks."

He gave her one last charming smile. "I'll talk to you later then."

"Yeah."

Once Daniel had left, Emmeline playfully glared at Lana.

"What?" she laughed. "He's cute!"

"I guess."

"Come on, how about one more picture?"

"Yeah, one second, I'm just gonna go get a refill." Emmeline discreetly motioned for Chloe to come with her. Once the two girls were out of Lana's earshot, Emmeline said quietly, "I've got a weird feeling."

"I know. You don't have to go out with that guy if you don't want to."

"No, it's not about that. It didn't really hit me until a few minutes ago when Lana said she was getting ready to have a baby in addition to getting married."

"Yeah?"

"Chloe, she told us she was pregnant months ago. And there are no signs of her showing. I mean, someone as skinny as her would've started showing something by the third month, fourth at the latest."

Chloe looked over at Lana again. She hadn't really considered that, but her friend had a point.

"Something's not right."

Early the next morning, Clark forced open the doors to the bowling alley which broke the chain keeping them shut.

Shortly after Lana's little party the previous night, Daniel Kim had been abducted in the alley and forced into a huge black van. Chloe had just barely managed to avoid being run over before the van disappeared.

Now, they were trying to find answers to where he might've been taken.

Emmeline tried not to think too deeply about the fact that whenever anyone had ever shown any interest in her, either something bad happened to them or they ended up being a nutcase.

"I can't believe there isn't even a skid mark outside," Chloe remarked.

"Maybe there's a clue in here," Clark said. "You're sure this guy was krypto-powered?"

"Clark, there was one pin standing, and then, boom, it fell. All by itself."

"As grateful as I was for the win, I'm pretty sure that qualifies as cheating," Emmeline put in.

"That would give someone a good reason to kidnap a bowling alley employee," Clark mused. "Did Lana see the abduction?"

"No," Chloe answered. "Speaking of which, with the wedding of the century coming up, are you gonna be renting a tux next weekend or a DVD?"

"Chloe, what possible reason would I have to watch them get married?"

"Maybe because if you showed up, it would send a message that you're actually moving on. You know, to Lana, to Lex, more importantly, to yourself."

Emmeline lightly bit her bottom lip. As much as she liked Clark and desired to become more than friends, she didn't know if he would ever 'get over' Lana. Maybe it would be better to just cut her losses and date someone else. She'd seen what unrequited pining had done for Clark and she'd rather not experience that herself.

"So, what does this guy look like? Your bowling buddy?" Clark asked, adeptly switching back to the original problem at hand.

"Uh, he's Asian, about 6 feet tall, with an earring in his left ear," Chloe told him.

"You mean like that guy?"

Emmeline turned and her eyes widened when none other than Daniel Kim came running in looking a little worse for wear. "Hey! What are you doing? We're closed." He then realized who had intruded and smiled a little in Emmeline's direction. "If you were so anxious to see me again, you could've just waited until we opened tonight."

"Uh…n-no," Emmeline stuttered. "I wanted to know what happened to you last night. Are you okay?"

Daniel put his hand to his forehead and groaned. "Did-Did you and me…Did we…Did we hook up?"

"No! No, nothing like that." When a somewhat offended look crossed his face, she quickly added, "I mean, not that there's anything wrong with you, I just…I-I don't—"

"You were thrown in the back of a van by men in black," Chloe came in to her rescue.

Daniel just laughed. "I thought I drank a lot last night."

Clark took a couple steps forward. "You're sure you don't remember getting thrown in the back of that van?"

"I don't remember anything. I figured I just blacked out. It was Saturday night. I wasn't driving, so I cracked open a pint. Next thing I know, I'm waking up in bed like any other morning."

The three of them exchanged worried glances. If he didn't remember what had happened to him, then how were they going to find out what was going on?

"Daniel may not be the only one," Chloe explained to Clark and Emmeline at the Daily Planet. "Last week, a mother called 911 complaining that her son disappeared in the middle of the night. But when he showed up in bed the next morning, safe and sound, there was no case. Son's name, Brian Osborne. Also on the Wall of Weird, suspected clairvoyant."

"Someone's going after meteor freaks?" Emmeline asked. "This is like back in our junior of high school. Except this time, the hunting is being done by trained professionals."

"But instead of getting shot, these people with meteor powers are being abducted," Clark said.

"And then released with a memory wipe that reaches back before the abduction," Chloe added.

"The question is, what's happening to them on their big night out?"

"I'm guessing not a pajama party."

"Considering Lex's history with 33.1, I bet he's behind this."

"That wouldn't be a shocker. But this is the only clue that I have." Chloe sat at her computer and pulled up one of the pictures she had taken at Lana's bachelorette party the night before.

"You, Em, and Lana having the time of your lives, that's great," Clark said sarcastically.

"Be patient." Chloe zoomed into the upper left corner of the photo where a young man was pointing at Daniel just as he walked away after succeeding in scoring Emmeline's number. "See? That's Tobias Rice. He was blinded in the last meteor shower, and he's pointing directly at Daniel. Why would a blind person point at someone?"

To try to find some answers, the three of them traveled to Tobias's house.

"Come on in, guys," the young man greeted at the door. "It's nice to hear a familiar voice."

Emmeline had only seen Tobias in the hallways when they were in high school, and she'd only ever talked to him twice, both times with Chloe who did most of the talking. She couldn't imagine having perfect vision for eighteen years and then suddenly having to live in complete darkness.

"Tobias, I'm sorry about what happened to you," Clark apologized.

"Hey, I got off lucky. My parents, not so much. Can I get you guys something to drink? How about an iced tea?" When no one answered him, he added, "Don't make me drink alone."

"Sure, I'll have a glass. Thanks."

"Tobias, you were at Smallville Lanes last night, weren't you?" Chloe asked, getting straight to the point.

"You sound surprised," Tobias said.

"You were pointing at someone. Someone named—"

"I hate to break it to you, but in my condition, I'm not doing too much pointing these days."

The three of them exchanged silent glances. The evidence in the picture from the night before indicated otherwise.

"Have you…talked to anyone…about all of this?" Emmeline gently asked.

"Talk? You mean like a therapist? I'm blind, not crazy."

"Therapists and counselors are there for people from all walks of life. When you're going through such a huge life change like this, it can be helpful to just…talk about it and work through your feelings."

"Well, it doesn't matter because hopefully this will change soon anyway. I'm on this waiting list for a cornea transplant."

"Talking to someone about that could be helpful too."

Tobias reached up and fumbled for a glass to pour the tea in.

"Hey, let me help you with that," Clark offered.

"No, I can handle it."

One of the glasses fell from the cabinet, and Clark sped over to catch it before it shattered onto the ground. Tobias quickly turned around, but not realizing that Clark was standing right next to him, he bumped into him and his glasses fell off. Emmeline winced when she saw his damaged eyes. His corneas and pupils were clouded over and the skin surrounding them was reddened and scarred. He groaned in pain and put his hand to his head.

Clark quickly knelt down and retrieved his glasses. "Tobias, I'm sorry. The glass almost hit the ground."

"Are you all right, Tobias?" Chloe asked.

"I'm fine," he insisted as he shoved his glasses back on. "It's just, when my glasses are off, I get these raging headaches from the light. Please just go."

With no other choice, the three of them quickly exited Tobias's house.

"Call me crazy, but it was almost like he saw something," Chloe said.

"That's what worries me," Clark answered.

He stopped walking, and his brow furrowed in concentration as if he was trying to listen to something far away.

"What is it?" Emmeline asked. "Did you hear something?"

"Tobias made a phone call to someone named Dr. Bethany. I'm going to go find out who he is."

"Hey, Emmeline, there's someone here to see you," Katie called from the front desk.

"Okay, I'll be right there!" She finished putting away her files and headed out to the lobby, expecting to see Clark or Chloe. But instead, it was the last person she expected to be calling for her. "Jimmy."

"Hey, have you heard from Chloe lately?"

"I'm not allowed to have my phone on while I'm working. Why? Is something wrong?"

"It's just…I went to meet her at her apartment and she wasn't there. And now she's not answering her phone, and I'm just…I'm getting worried."

"Okay. Um, I finish my shift in ten minutes, so I'll meet you outside and see if we can figure something out."

"Okay, thanks."

As soon as Emmeline had wrapped up everything she needed to do and left the clinic, she and Jimmy went back to the apartment above the Talon, calling Chloe several times all along the way. By now, Emmeline was starting to become pretty concerned too. She knew that her friend had a deadline coming up and had planned on pulling another all-nighter to get it done in time, so the fact that she was nowhere to be found couldn't be a good sign.

"Chloe?" Clark called as he stepped inside the apartment.

Emmeline and Jimmy quickly stood up and were admittedly disappointed when Clark was the one to walk through the door instead of Chloe.

"Clark, please tell me you know where Chloe is," Jimmy said urgently.

"She's not here?"

"No, I can't find her anywhere, and to tell you the truth, I'm starting to freak out a little bit. She's not answering her cell phone and she always answers it."

"Wait. Calm down. When was the last time you saw her?"

"Uh…it was at…at the Planet this morning. She's on a deadline, and she's supposed to be here working."

"All right, well, if she's under a deadline, she's probably out researching her story," Clark said as he turned around, but Emmeline could tell that he was trying to convince himself of that more than anything.

"On the downtown parking meters? I don't think so."

Clark sighed, his stomach tightening. If Tobias had really seen something earlier, then he might've figured out that he wasn't human which meant it was very likely Chloe had been taken as a means of luring him out.

"Look, I swear, Clark, if anything happens to her…"

Clark handed Jimmy Dr. Bethany's computer which he'd swiped earlier at the hospital. "Jimmy, take this computer. See if you can break into its files."

"Chloe's the one with the mad techno skills. I'm just a guy with a camera and kidnapped…" Jimmy took the computer to the counter and when he turned around, Clark was gone. "…girlfriend." He looked over at Emmeline. "He just up and left when Chloe is missing?"

"No," Emmeline said quickly. "If he's gone, it means he's looking for her or he might have a lead. Just…trust him. Is there anything I can do to help with the computer?"

"No, I mean, I don't even know what I'm doing here."

"Well…I know how to run the coffee machine downstairs. The least I can do is help keep us going."

After staying up almost all night with no luck, Jimmy taped a 'Missing' poster with Chloe's photo onto one of the Talon's pillars.

"Jimmy, any luck with the computer?" Clark asked.

Jimmy shook his head. "I tried every trick I know, but I'm an amateur in the encryption game. Look, what about the doctor? What did he say?"

"He's nowhere to be found."

"What if she really is gone, Clark?"

When Clark didn't answer, Emmeline felt her stomach lurch and she suddenly felt like her legs might give out at any second. Those words suddenly made the situation so real. What if Chloe was gone? What if Emmeline never saw her again? She'd been in some really tough scrapes in the past, but how long was it before one of those scrapes was the last one? Chloe was the only one with whom Emmeline felt that she could share everything. The only one who truly understood her on such a deep and personal level that she knew she would never find in anyone ever again.

"Look, I have never met anyone like Chloe Sullivan, and I never will. And you know what the most pathetic part is?" He tearfully turned and looked back at the 'Missing' poster. "Is that…is that I was so busy playing it cool that…I never got to tell her how I really, truly feel."

"Well, now's your chance."

Emmeline, Jimmy, and Clark suddenly turned around at the sound of Chloe's voice. All of them were silent for three beats before Jimmy raced towards her and tightly wrapped his arms around her.

"You're back," Jimmy breathed.

"Jimmy, easy with the anaconda squeeze," Chloe laughed.

"I'm sorry. I just can't believe that you're standing here."

"Why? I live upstairs."

Clark took a step forward and looked at her concerned. "Chloe, you were abducted last night."

Chloe's brow furrowed in confusion and she looked past him to see the 'Missing' poster of her. "Holy crap."

"You don't remember?" Jimmy asked.

"The last thing I remember is going to sleep, and then I woke up in my bed. I don't understand. Why did they take me?"

"Because you're a witness. They want to shut you up."

Clark looked at Chloe like he knew something he wasn't telling any of them.

Chloe shook her head. "No, if that was the case, they wouldn't have released me."

"Maybe they just wanted to scare you," Clark offered.

Emmeline thought that sounded like a pretty poor excuse, but she felt that she shouldn't say that out loud. Chloe looked freaked out enough as it was, and she wasn't feeling too great about any of this either.

"Look, Chloe, I'm just glad that you're back, all right? And we have Bethany's laptop, but all the files are encrypted. Maybe you can pull off a miracle."

Chloe nodded, looking like she was seconds away from completely falling apart.

That night, a storm raged outside the apartment on top of the Talon which did absolutely nothing for anyone's nerves.

Chloe typed several keys on Dr. Bethany's computer. "The files are barricaded. But in every wall, there's a door somewhere. What's more impenetrable is the way you keep staring at me. Do I have something on my face?"

"No," Clark said incredibly unconvincingly. "No, I…I'm just relieved. We were all really worried about you."

Emmeline sighed. "You know, for someone who has had to hide one gargantuan secret your entire life, you are a terrible liar."

"Em's right," Chloe agreed. "Cough it up."

"Cough what up?" Clark asked.

"You know the real reason why I was abducted, don't you?"

Clark didn't answer.

"I'm some kind of meteor freak, aren't I?"

"We don't know that, Chloe."

"Well, maybe this will help demystify things for us." Chloe typed a few more commands into the computer and it beeped. "We're in."

The computer brought up a map with several green and red dots splayed out all across it and moving blue bars on the right side.

"That's a map of Smallville," Clark noticed.

"With a GPS overlay. Clark, I think Dr. Bethany is tracking meteor freaks. Now the question is, why?"

"Maybe he's trying to observe them in their own environment."

The door slammed open, which made all of them jump, and Jimmy bolted inside. "I just got off the phone with the Planet. Daniel Kim was killed in a car accident right outside Smallville Lanes fifteen minutes ago."

Clark, Chloe, and Emmeline looked at each other nervously as Jimmy's statement directly contradicted what Clark had just said.

"Or someone tried to make it look like a car crash," Clark put together.

Chloe zoomed into the map to the bowling alley's location. "There's a new red dot on a street just outside the bowling alley. That red dot must be Daniel Kim."

The map moved over to another dot in Granville which suddenly went from green to red. "And a blinking green one just turned red in Granville. Chloe, they're killing these people one by one."

Her breathing beginning to shallow, Chloe moved the map over to their current location. "There's a green dot in the Talon."

"What's going on here?" Jimmy asked. "Chloe, are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine, Jimmy." She quickly stood up from the couch and began ushering him outside the door. "Listen, I need you to go to the Smallville Lanes and find out everything you can about Daniel's death."

"I'll call you when I get there."

"Okay, thanks."

Clark and Emmeline stood up as Chloe shut the door. Emmeline's heart was pounding so much that she couldn't even begin to fathom how nervous her best friend must be feeling.

Chloe finally turned and look at Clark desperately. "Clark, I need you to x-ray me."

"What?"

"Clark, come on. We're both adults. Now, just do it."

"Okay. Um…" He squinted his eyes and looked her up and down. "There, underneath your collarbone."

Tears pooling in her eyes, Chloe lightly rubbed the space he'd indicated. "What is it?"

"I don't know."

"Please, Clark. I don't want to die."

Emmeline quickly touched her shoulder. "We're not going to let that happen."

"Just get it out of me!"

Clark started making his way to the door. "We have to get you to a hospital."

"Clark, there's something inside of me! I don't want to go to the ER and wait for the doctors to figure out what it's gonna do to me! How accurate is your heat vision?"

Clark looked at her seriously. "Chloe, don't even go there."

"Is it pinpoint accurate?"

"Chloe, I'm not gonna burn you!"

"Clark, Daniel Kim is dead! And every single one of those green dots is turning red one by one! I will not be the next red dot!"

Clark slightly shook his head, unable to even consider physically hurting her like that.

At his silence, Chloe ran over to the sink and grabbed a butcher knife. "Fine, if you're not gonna do it, then I'll just do it myself!" She aimed the knife beneath her collarbone.

"No, stop!" Emmeline cried.

"Chloe, wait, wait!" Clark yelled at the same time. "Just hold on a second!"

Chloe slammed down the knife and moved her shirt away from her shoulder. "Do it."

"All right."

"No, no, wait," Emmeline said. "There has to be something else we can do."

"There isn't!" Chloe exclaimed. "Now just do it before it's too late."

Clark stepped forward and clutched onto her shoulders. "Hold on to me. Em, hold her from behind."

Emmeline shook her head. "I…"

"You have to. I need help keeping her completely still."

With shallow breaths, Emmeline stood behind Chloe and tightly held onto her arms just beneath Clark's hands.

"You can't move," Clark said to Chloe.

"Okay," Chloe whimpered as a tear rolled down her cheek.

Clark took a deep breath, then looked at Chloe's shoulder and allowed a burst of heat to expel from his eyes. Chloe screamed in agony as he burned a hole into her skin.

Emmeline's heart ached and she felt like she might throw up. She wanted to squeeze her eyes shut, but she forced herself to keep them open so that she could focus on keeping Chloe still and prevent her from experiencing even more pain. She would've given anything to trade places with Chloe and be burned herself so that she didn't have to listen to her friend in so much pain.

The heat vision stopped, and Chloe screamed again when Clark dug his thumb and index finger into the hole to pry out whatever device was inside her.

"I'm sorry," he quickly apologized.

"Just get it out!"

Finally, Clark extracted a tiny mechanical chip. "It's a GPS device. That's all it is." He crushed the chip in his fingers.

Chloe turned around and looked at the computer as the blinking dot at the Talon changed color. "And my green dot's gone red."

"I think I need to sit down," Emmeline breathed.

"Let me get this wound taken care of," Clark offered.

While he cleaned and bandaged the burnt hole in her shoulder, Emmeline went downstairs and brewed some coffee, all the while trying to keep her hands from shaking. She was going to be hearing Chloe's scream reverberating in her head for a long time.

Shortly afterwards, Jimmy ran back into the Talon and froze upon seeing Clark bandaging Chloe's shoulder. "What the heck did you do to my girl, Kent?"

"Jimmy, there was a tracking device in me, and Clark had a pocketknife," Chloe explained.

"We improvised," Clark added.

Jimmy looked at him like he was crazy. "Improvised?"

"Jimmy, it barely even stung," Chloe assured him. She looked down at the map on the computer. "There's only one green dot left, off Highway 52."

"Tobias."

"They never planned on getting him a cornea transplant, did they?" Emmeline quietly asked, horrified. "They were always going to take him out at the end with the others." Her stomach twisted as she looked at the sheer number of red dots all across the map. "All those people…"

Clark had immediately rushed to Tobias's house and stopped Dr. Bethany from killing him. Unfortunately, Lana was there too and she knew that something strange happened when she fired a gun at the doctor but the bullet smashed into the case behind her. That little event would no doubt not help her already boiling curiosity and desire to know the truth about Clark.

On the bright side, Oliver Queen had arranged for a cornea transplant for Tobias, and the young man was now on his way to Star City.

But for now, they had a more pressing matter.

Clark and Emmeline walked into the Daily Planet together and saw Chloe sitting at her desk staring blankly into space.

"You look dazed and confused," Clark said. "Are you okay?"

Chloe lightly shook her head and sighed. "I can't sleep. I can't work. I can't think about anything else."

"You've been through a lot."

"There's a reason they took me, and we all know it's not because I was a witness. Tobias didn't identify you, Clark, because you're not a meteor freak. It was me."

Clark quietly scoffed. "Chloe, it must have been a mistake."

Chloe shot up from her desk. "How do you know that? I mean, I've been exposed to more kryptonite than practically anyone else in this town. It's not that much of a stretch to think that I could have been infected somewhere along the way."

"But you don't have any powers." Clark then looked at her for a moment. "Do you?"

"No, but that doesn't rule me out. There's a percentage of the Wall of Weird that were latent for years. They didn't exhibit any of their powers until long after their exposure."

"Okay," Clark said as he held his hands out. "All right, let's say it's true. But who's to say you're ever gonna develop any powers at all?"

"All I know is that every single meteor freak I've ever run into has ended up either dead or in Belle Reve." Chloe walked back to her desk and crashed down into her chair then put her hands to her face. "Face it, Clark. I'm a walking time bomb."

It broke Emmeline's heart to hear her so scared and vulnerable. She didn't know what to do with this new information, and she'd be lying if she said that she wasn't feeling a little apprehensive too. Those who were meteor-infected didn't usually have great endings, and she most certainly didn't want Chloe to join that list.

But maybe, just maybe, knowing this now would help them prevent anything bad from happening to her later.

Clark took a seat next to her desk and very gently took her arm. "Then consider me your own personal bomb squad."

Emmeline smiled. "I may not be much help in that regard, but…I'm known to be a pretty good negotiator."

Two tears rolled down Chloe's cheeks as she smiled at her friends. She was still terrified about what the future held, but it felt a little more bearable knowing that she wasn't going to be alone in facing it.

A phone started ringing in Emmeline's pocket. "I'll be right back. I really have to take this." She rushed outside of the office and took the burner phone out of her jean pocket. She'd started carrying it around after she'd talked to Oliver and she'd been waiting weeks now for it to ring again. With a shaky hand, she pressed the button to take the call. "Hello?"

There was a long silence, and then Oliver's voice clearly responded, "I'll do it."
