Chapter One The Goodness Once In Me

Spyro lies on his soft plush bed on his back, his wings wrapped tightly around him in hopes to comfort him. His eyes glazed as his thoughts are elsewhere; his train of thoughts but a jumble of mess, however, it always led back to the day when Stealth Elf suspects that Master Eon was hiding secrets from everyone… including about secrets of his ancestors…

Spyro's wings tighten around him, enclosing him in a impenetrable cocoon. Why?... Why, Master Eon? What are you hiding from us?... from me?, Spyro thought gloomily to himself. When no answer shown to himself, Spyro sighed heavily and closed his eyes, shutting bright ruby eyes away from the world.

Immediately, Spyro felt himself slipped into his unconscious mind as he felt nothing encased around him; his room disappearing as he floats to the bottom of the abyss.

"Where am I?", Spyro says shakily as he looks around himself only to see complete darkness.

"Hello?!"

There was a dark chuckle.

"Who's there!?", Spyro shouted fear gripping his heart.

Feeling his heart clenched painfully in fear, an unknown emotion to the Great Spyro, Spyro grunted and gripped his left side of his chest where his beating heart throbs.

"Oh?", says the voice sweetly and malcontent.

"Does it hurt?", the voice drawled out.

Spyro looks around him fearfully as the dark voice, nearly similar to his own, continue to speak all around in all directions.

"This feeling of fear… anger… and betrayal?", the dark voice chuckled.

"Betrayal? W-What do you mean?", Spyro asks curious and yet frightful.

"You don't know?", the dark voice laughed, "I was there when the destruction of our parents befallen."

"Our parents?...", Spyro repeated confused, "WHO ARE YOU!?"

Another dark chuckle filled with twisted humor.

"In due time."

"For now, I'll show you a little something we've forgotten… in our traumatic childhood, hehehe."

Suddenly the dark abyss lighten up slowly and began to blind Spyro with its brightness. Blocking out the light with his right wing till it dissipated, once the light faded and sweet kind voices can be heard; Spyro lifted his wing and saw a purple blurred out silhouette of a dragon speaking down to him. The silhouette looked eerily like of his own features.

Is this my family?... But why cannot see them?, Spyro thought as he felt himself reached with his baby arms towards what he assumed was his mother, the tone feminine.

A small dark familiar chuckle sounded this time within his head.

"It is because of powerful magic that keeps this memory of ours locked away…"

Powerful magic? But why…, Spyro continue to thought.

"Watch…", whispered the dark voice.

Suddenly Spyro hears another darker malicious voice shouting out to another being, as a new scene comes to play. Still the scenes remain blurry to his eyes.

"You cannot keep protecting the Core of Light forever,… brother!"

An old familiar voice speaks out this time to the dark being.

"I will, brother… Why must we fight?"

"E-Eon!?", Spyro gasped.

A dark chuckle from the being.

"So be it."

The dark being began to chant unfamiliar and dark spells as Spyro watches his kind scream in suffering due to the casting; their silhouette forms of vibrant colors turn shades of gray and black with red eyes. Spyro turns to see his mother fighting with her last strength to seal his younger self away in a faraway land… away from the horrific sight.

"NOOOOO!?", Spyro screamed.

The memory, it seems, slowly faded away; Spyro clawing away at the fading memory to try and grasp hold to it. But the memory and wholesome truth was gone. Spyro slumped to the ground, shuddering to fight away the tears.

"It's no use, our memory is sealed and the only way to get the truth… is to go to the source…", the dark voice said.

"Eon…", Spyro muttered.

"Yes", hissed the dark voice.

"But I don't understand… how, and… who are you?", Spyro sniffed.

"You don't see it do you?... I am YOU!?".

"SPYRO!"

Spyro jerked awake at the sound of his best friends' voice next to his ear.

"AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!", Spyro jumped up onto the rafter's upside down, his heart beating erratically.

Slowly his eyes dilated and blinked as Spyro looks about his surroundings then landing on the form of his best friend.

"Stealth Elf?", Spyro gasped out, trying to still his heart.

Stealth Elf looks up at Spyro worried and concern.

"Spyro? What's going on? You were mumbling in your sleep…", Stealth Elf says.

Heart now beating steadily, Spyro flapped his wings and unhooked his talons from the rafter, and glided down to his bed.

Sighing, Spyro lands gracefully and folded his wings and glanced up at Elf.

"It's nothing…", Spyro says after a long pause, then quickly realizing that Stealth Elf is in his room.

"Why are you here, Elf?", Spyro asks.

Stealth Elf stares at Spyro, frowning when Spyro out right brushed her off. Oh, Spyro…, Elf thought sadly.

"Master Eon had summoned us to his office in the Grand Library. Come on, the others are already there", Elf said and walked out of Spyro's room.

Spyro felt his heart leaped to his throat at the mentioned of Eon. Remembering back on the partially sealed memory…

Who would've sealed away my memory of my family?, Spyro thought.

Shaking his head, Spyro unfurled his wings and flew out the open window of his room. Looking down, Spyro spotted Stealth Elf jogging towards the Academy. Swooping down, Spyro easily lifted Elf up. Stealth Elf eeped and clung onto her best friend although knowing full heartedly that Spyro will never let her go. Quickly realizing the position that they're in, a dark green blush flushed beautifully across her cheeks at how close the two are in.

Stealth Elf glances up to see Spyro's attention was directed towards the Academy. Stealth Elf takes this opportunity to memorized his features from sleek and well muscled physic to his ruby colored eyes. Stealth Elf continues to gaze longingly into his eyes… suddenly his ruby eyes shifted to gaze at her.

"Stealth Elf?", Spyro asks.

"Hm? Oh! Sorry Spyro…", Stealth Elf meekly says as she ducks her head.

Elf tucks away a lock of hair behind her ear, unaware of Spyro's penetrating gaze. A dark purple blush darkens Spyro's cheeks. He continues to watch Elf delectable ear for a while longer then forcibly turned his head to see they've reached the Library. Speeding up slightly, Spyro flew through the window and landed gracefully on the stone floor. Setting down Stealth Elf gently.

"Thanks Spyro, that was fun…", Stealth Elf said shyly.

Stealth Elf turns around to see Eruptor wagging his brows at her and Elf's blush once more darkened.

Spyro, not noticing the exchange, grinned. Very happy in a long time to see Stealth Elf being happy and having fun with him. Until, he saw Master Eon walks into the study. Quickly becoming somber, wrapping his tail around himself, Spyro glares down at the stone flooring.

Master Eon seeing this, rose a concerned brow and guilt weighing greatly ever before. Clearing his throat, the Skylanders looks up to their leader.

"Skylanders, dark times are approaching! I fear powerful darkness like no other is finally finding its way back to the Skylands!"

A memory flashed of a dark being flash briefly in Spyro's mind. Spyro shook his head to dispel the brief memory.

"I have a new mission for all you! You are to hunt down the Doom Raiders and returned them back to Cloudcracker Prison!", Eon ordered.

"Understood, Master Eon! You'd heard the sorcerer team, move move MOVE!", JetVac yelled out.

The Skylanders' nodded and ran out of the study. However, Spyro remained behind. Eon walks up to Spyro's side and kneel to his level, wrapping his arm around Spyro. Suddenly Spyro felt uncontrollable anger towards Master Eon action, and past actions.

Using his wings to shrug off Eon embrace and ignoring the shock and hurt look, Spyro rounded on Eon, tears in his eyes.

"S-Spyro?"

"No Master Eon! I-I wanted to trust you, I do but… after I found out you lied to Elf about Strykore but not only to her, to everybody!", Spyro shouted.

Master Eon flinched and looks down to the floor.

"I know now you hold the secrets to what happened to my family, my ancestors, my kind!", Spyro began to shake with uncontrollable emotions waging war.

"And the thing is… I don't know why…", Spyro slumped.

Eon tried to reached out to Spyro only to be pushed away again.

"But I do know one thing… I'm done being a Skylander who's leader is a liar! So… goodbye Eon", Spyro unfurl his wings and flew up into the air and hovered.

Gazing down at Master Eon for what would be his last. With a flap of his wings, Spyro began to fly away. Eon seeing this felt he could no longer bear to see Spyro in pain and cried out.

"Spyro… wait!"

"WHAT!?", Spyro abruptly turned.

"I'll tell you everything!", Eon said sadly and walks up to the Relics Room with Spyro following slowly.

There on the stand was a chest. Master Eon walks up to it and opened to it. Turning around, in his hands grasped revealing a fossil speared tail.

Spyro gasped quietly.

Eon sighed regretfully, "All your dragon kind, Spyro… they were heroes. And one of the greats…"

"What happened to them?", Spyro asks fearing wholly within his heart.

"During the Great War, many Skylanders and villains had fallen due to a great dark power… Strykore. Strykore was determined to destroy the Core of Light and plunged the world into eternal darkness to fit his reign.

He'd nearly succeeded… He had used dark powerful magic and casted it over your family, your ancestors, turning them to beings of evil bent on destroying the Core.

I was forced to make a terrible choice… In order to protect them and the Core of Light, I sent them away to another dimensional realm."

"T-That means… that that they're still alive somewhere!", Spyro says his heart filling with hope.

Hope that was very short lived.

"It's not that simple Spyro… (sighs) I wished dearly it was…"

"The magic I used to send them to another dimensional realm was,… unreal, wholly, and powerful… I-I do not know that that if they have survived…"

Dread and feeling of loss filled his breaking heart. Whimpering, Spyro folded his wings over his form, his form sagging to the stone floor. Eon seeing this felt heartbroken to see his adopted son in pain.

"S-Spyro… I'm truly sorry…"

"Sorry?...", Spyro muttered lowly.

"Spyro?"

Spyro glares up at Master Eon and flies up and close to his adoptive father, the very reason of his kinds' destruction.

"SORRY!? You oblirated my family, my entire race and your sorry!?", Spyro growls.

"S-Spyro… I-I'm…", Eon stuttered.

"To late…", Spyro growls lowly and flew out of the Relics Room.

Master Eon was frozen before coming to and raced out of the Room to see Spyro hovering above him. His eyes darkening with loss and hate.

"We're done, Eon. And I'll never forgive you for this…", Spyro spoke lowly, turned and flew out the window.

"Spyro!", Eon calls out and fell to the floor and began to sob openly.

Spyro continues to fly higher and higher into the clouds and away from his once home. I'm never coming back to that murderer!, Spyro thought angrily. In his blind hate, anger, hurt, and betrayal unbridled memories of him and Master Eon together raced through his mind. Flashes of his memories of his home, classes, his peers, and… his friends. Eruptor, Pop Fizz, JetVac, Cyndor, and… Stealth Elf.

A quiet sob broke out from his lips as a lone tear falls down his cheeks. Shaking his head though futile as more tears comes falling. Anger and hate quickly filling his heart as Spyro raced through the darkening sky.

As the first star appeared, Spyro felt himself grow exhausted and saw an island not far off. Tilting his wings, Spyro headed for that island; landing softly on the dirt ground and looked around himself. The trees were a fall color of orange, yellow, brown. However, the trunks were smoky black. And stranger still, there were no animals to be seen. As if they had sensed his presence and hid.

Cautiously, Spyro walked on forward his hackles raised in preparations for a battle. Rounding a fall-colored bush, Spyro peeked around to see a small group of arekyans robots surrounding a boiling pot over the fire. Spyro narrowed his eyes and saw that in what appeared to be their leader hands held a wooden caged and within the cage was a struggling fairy. Covering his mouth with his hands and ducked, hiding further within the leaves.

A fairy?... How far did I flew?, Spyro wondered.

Shaking his head, Spyro glanced over at the arekyans robots whom were going to have a fairy-based meal. The largest robot, their leader, stepped forth and held the cage over the boiling pot. The fairy gasped out horrified and panic. Her attempts to free herself grew sporadic.

"Let me go… NOW!", shouted the fairy.

The leader arekyan robot laughed, "Look fellas', our dinner has got some spunk!"

"I am not your DINNER!"

"Enough!", the leader robotic hand raised itself to drop the cage, "Time to eat!"

"Not if I have anything to say…", Spyro muttered and flew out of his hiding spot just as the arekyan robot lets go of the cage and captured it in mid fall.

"Gotcha!"

Spyro held the cage up to his face and could now see the fairy clearly. She was wearing an orange dress and her pixie wings were iridescent, her hair a golden-red. But her eyes drew Spyro's attention, they were the color of the sky.

Spyro smiled, "Don't worry, your safe now."

The fairy smiled back; her wings fluttered in relief.

"Thank you, kind dragon."

"Hey!"

Spyro looks down while tucking the wooden cage close to himself to see the leader yelling up at him.

"You dragon, return our meal ticket or suffer the consequence!"

Spyro rolled his eyes in boredom.

"They always say that, no one says anything new…", Spyro feigning yawning.

"HEY!", one of the arekyan robots shouted.

"Hey, boss… is he making fun at us?", says the last one confusedly.

"Enough! Come down puny dragon and faced my fury!"

"I'm sorry did you say 'puny dragon'?", Spyro growls, "I'll make you pay for that comment!"

Spyro then fired a fireball down at them causing the two smaller robots to run and scattered. However, they did not escape unscarred, er well, uncharred. When the smoke cleared the large arekyan robot was still standing tall behind a shield.

Spyro growls in frustration.

"I see your gonna be a challenge."

Spyro flew low and landed on two feet, setting the wooden cage down behind him. Landing on all fours, Spyro crouched and barred his fangs at the arekyan robot.

"You think you can match me!?", shouted the leader.

The arekyan robot charged at Spyro, Spyro leapt over the robot and landed behind it and fired a rather larger fireball at the back of the robot. Sending it toppling over but before it could get back up, Spyro leapt onto it.

"Never come back here again", Spyro growled out, "Understood?"

The leader was silent again but then finally conceded.

"Fine…", it grumbled.

Spyro hovered over it as it stood and began to walk away. Landing back onto the dirt ground, Spyro watched the arekyan robot leave before turning and walking over to the wooden cage and unlatched it. As soon the door was open, the fairy flew straight out into the sky and looped in rejoice. The fairy flew back down and circle around Spyro.

Spyro laughs at this, "Your welcome, little fairy."

The fairy stopped inches from his snout.

"Please call me Prixie", Prixie said.

"Of course, Prixie", Spyro winked.

Prixie blushed then smiled.

"For saving me, I am now your fairy to the end, Skylander", Prixie said as she curtsies.

Spyro's smile fell slightly.

"Nah, it's fine. And I'm not a Skylander no more…", Spyro said quietly.

Prixie sees his smile fall and a dark look enter his bright ruby eyes. Frowning, Prixie landed softly on Spyro's snout. Raising her dainty hand, Prixie settled it on top of Spyro's head.

"What happened?", Prixie said softly.

Spyro smile a small one and sat down to regale a story of him and Eon. Prixie sat down through it all and smiled an understanding one.

"So that's how it all end… Pathetic huh?"

Prixie shook her head.

"No not at all. I'm sorry what happened to your family, but if Master Eon hasn't done what has been done, you'd wouldn't be here to meet all of your wonderful friends. All the accomplishments you've done and will be. And the family you yourself have created!", Prixie said.

Spyro looks up at Prixie and smiled. But it was short lived. Looking down once more, Spyro shuddered at the last memory of Master Eon.

"I don't know anymore… what is right or wrong. And now I can't go back, not after what's been said… and done", Spyro muttered, "There's no forgiving…"

Prixie frowned and then a thought came and smiled.

"How bout we go and find your family together?", Prixie suggested.

"How?"

"By finding this 'Malfore'."

Spyro looks up at Prixie like she was crazy. Seeing her coy smile, a light bulb appeared. (metaphorically I mean).

Spyro flew up into the air and whooped loudly. Looking down at Prixie, Spyro gleamed at her.

"Your right, only Malfore know and has access to other realms! Maybe, well if, he can help me find them and bring them home!"

Prixie smiled and flew up next to Spyro, "Well come on then!"

Spyro nodded and flew off in the direction of Cyndor's home.

(enter scene with Dark Spyro, since those whose seen the show knows how this plays out.)

Prixie looks up from her hiding spot under Spyro's right folded wing. Shaking in fear for her newest friend and protector. Seeing past the wing, Prixie shrunk back in fear furthermore after seeing glowing red eyes. Suddenly, Prixie felt Spyro's body shudder in pain after the encounter with Malfore. Bright ruby eyes blinked open and close in staggering amount of pain before fully opening.

"What's going on?..."

Spyro lifted himself up and looked around himself, however, upon seeing a smirking Kaos; Spyro's assessment ended abruptly. Trying and failing to stand up against Kaos, Spyro growls out.

"Kaos! What's going on!?"

Kaos smirk darken in amusement.

"You're here curtesy of Strykore, gizzard-brain", Kaos then proceeded to laugh.

"Strykore?", Spyro grunted in pain.

A achingly familiar dark chuckle sounded behind him, making Spyro jumped on all fours in battle stance. Looking up, Spyro backed away from the glowing red eyes in his ever-growing fear.

The dark being chuckled, "Ah, so your kind has not been eradicated."

At the mention of his race; hate and anger resurfaced replacing fear. Spyro stepped forward and low to the stone floor, advancing slowly to the dark being.

"So, you're Strykore… Eon told me everything… you will pay!", Spyro roared and flew up from the ground.

Prixie flew out under Spyro's wing and hid behind a column.

Spyro fired a large fireball at the dark being, however, all it did was absorbed the attack. The dark being chuckle in dark amusement.

"So did he now. You want truth, I'll give you truth!"

A beam of dark energy shot out and encased Spyro in a sphere. Spyro struggled but could not escape.

"Relax now and let the truth seep into your mind."

Spyro growls out in his final attempt in struggling but soon went limp as a new memory flow into his mind.

Spyro opens his eyes to see a achingly familiar scene. However, this time, the memory was clean and clear. There before his family in battle stance was two beings of light and dark. Master Eon and Strykore.

"You cannot keep protecting the Core of Light forever,… brother!", Strykore yells.

"I will, brother… Why must we fight?", Master Eon pleaded.

"Fine. I'll give you two choices, brother. One; surrender the Core and succumb to darkness or two; let all you care about crumble and be destroyed!", Strykore chuckled as he waved his hand towards the line of Spyro's kind.

Eon froze and hesitated but then his features grew determined.

"I'll never succumb to darkness, brother! And I'll never let you hurt anyone anymore!", Eon declared.

"So be it…", Strykore face became somber.

Master Eon began to chant a spell just as Strykore attack with his dark powers. But before Eon could finish the spell, he'd look at his brother and his cast weakened allowing him to get struck and fell to the ground in pain. Strykore slowly walked up on his fallen brothers' form.

"You've chosen, brother", Strykore said.

Swiftly turning, Strykore faced the line of the great heroes and began to cast a spell. Spyro covered his ears as hollers, screams of pain filled them as he watches helplessly as the familiar scene unfold.

"N-No…"

The memory faded as Spyro reawakens in the sphere. The dark being before him chuckled.

"Yes", it drawled, "It was Eon, my brother, his choice that led them to their downfall."

"N-No", Spyro whimpered as grief and anger consumed him.

The being senses this and laughed.

"Yes! You did well Kaos… And now I'll drain this dragon of his light!", the being shouted.

A dark blast shot at the sphere. Prixie gasped horrified and in fear. The blast hit the sphere but the sphere absorbed it. Suddenly Spyro screamed in pain and went limp; his hero light being sucked and absorbed into the dark being. The rift containing the being closed and the sphere containing Spyro collapsed. Spyro fells onto the stone floor with a thump.

Spyro's bruises and cuts began to heal itself as his vibrant purple scales turns and fade into a dark purple. Golden-orange horns, crest, speared tail faded into silvery gray.

"Spyro!", Prixie shouted and flew down to his fallen form.

"EH!? Who's there!?", Kaos shouted as he turns around and saw the fairy.

"A fairy?"

Just then the rift opens again and stepped out the form of Strykore. Kaos grinned and ran up to him and engulfed him into a hug.

"Oh, father! Glad to see you've returned!"

Strykore awkwardly patted Kaos head and grimaced.

"Yes… I suggest world domination first and then fatherly and son bonding", Strykore muttered as he shoved Kaos away from his person.

"Now, is there a place within this forsaken castle where I can plot my revenge?"

Just then the double doors opened to reveal Glumshanks carrying a tray of delights.

"I know a place such a dark being yourself can plot away. Here would you care for one, sir?", Glumshanks slightly bowed before Strykore.

"Hm", Strykore hummed and took one of the delights, "Take me there, troll."

But before Strykore took a step, Kaos stepped before him.

"Whoa whoa whoa, what about him!", Kaos pointed.

Strykore turned around and faced the dark purple dragon. Spyro blinks his eyes slowly as he comes to, revealing them to be blood red. Prixie gasp in relief and then quickly swept in to hug Spyro's dark wing.

"Oh Spyro, your ok!"

"Prixie?", Spyro voiced out in confusion, his tone low and dark.

"Ah, Spyro! How'd you feel?", Strykore asks.

Spyro blinks slowly.

"I'm not sure… but suddenly I feel like taking two parking spaces at ONCE!", Spyro growls low and dark as he raised his hand with sharpened claws and fisted.

"Dang that is evil!", Kaos exclaimed excitedly.

Strykore ignored Kaos and focused on the dark dragon.

"And the Skylanders… what do you feel about them?"

"They are… my ENEMIES!", Spyro smirked as he clawed the air.

Prixie shudder in fear and worry of her friends' new attitude. Spyro turns his head to look at her, his piercing cold blood red eyes gleamed up at her.

"Why, Spyro… they were once your friends were they not? What do you plan to do?", Strykore continues to ask, chuckling.

Spyro turn to face Strykore again, his cold gaze directed up at Eon's brother.

"They were… but those who stands with that murderer will suffer the same fate…", Spyro said lowly.

Glumshanks, whom watching the exchange; his body shaking in fear of the new dark and powerful dragon, spoke up shakily.

"And what fate is that?", Glumshanks asks fearfully.

Cold blood red eyes shifted to gaze at the shaking troll. Spyro smirked and coolly replied:

"Death."
