Welcome dear readers to the sequel/prequel to my other story "Future Daughter(s)". This first chapter is only a sample of what I have in store for this story. As a side note, this will be rated mature for what happens later on in the story, so look forward to that as well. And as the sample, I will finish "Future Daughter(s)" before I post any other chapter, don't worry, I won't rush that. With that said, hope you're excited for what's to come!
Decisive Assault
The Azur Lane Fleet was on the move for a final assault against the Siren headquarters. Everyone was anxious, if they lose this battle, it'll take some time before they recuperate from the defeat. The plan was to target their terminal rooms and teleportation machine, this would put an end to them ever leaving this timeline. With destroyers and cruisers fighting in the frontlines, the battleships and carriers' job was to rain artillery and bombs to destroy their target. Right now, they were only fighting mass produced models, outnumbering them, but quantity wasn't always better than quality. Little by little, they whittled down the Siren fleet.
"Fleet 6, status report!"
"Commander! We're slowly pushing them back, but everyone's at their limits." Helena reported in.
"That's good to hear, I'll have you switch positions with fleet 4, they only have a few left."
"Thank you, Commander..." she breathed a sigh of relief, until her radar started beeping. "Wait, my radars picking up multiple hostiles approaching!"
"Shit, It's the Siren elites! Everyone, be on guard and keep your distance!"
"Roger!" came multiple replies.
Looking at the hologram Yuubari and Akashi made, Observer Alpha, Purifier, and Tester Beta was leading a charge with the mass produced humanoid Sirens. This was trouble, the regular mass-produced units were easy to deal with when in a group. But the humanoid ones think and strategize, making them unpredictable and hard to engage as a group.
"All battleships and carriers', we need more firepower, put your all into it! If we survive this battle, we've already won! All vanguard units, continue to engage the mass produced units! Those of you who're helping others, disperse and engage the Elites!"
Sighing, he looked over the hologram for any openings he can use to their advantage. Looking around, he couldn't spot Purifier, zooming out, he broke into a cold sweat. Her identification tag was right on top of him. Quickly turning around, he went to grab his pistol, it wasn't there. Suddenly, a pair of bright yellow lights stared back at him.
"Ya looking for this?" Purifier materialized out of the shadows.
"This little peashooter wouldn't do anything to me for your information." she waved the gun around, and shot herself in the head. There wasn't even a scratch, the crumpled bullet dropping to the ground.
"What do you want Purifier?" he asked calmly.
"What do I want? WHAT DO I WANT!? I WANT TO SEE YOUR GUTS SPLATERING THE WALLS IS WHAT I WANT!" she laughed out maniacally.
"Shit, she's got me cornered, I don't have anywhere to go..." he couldn't accept this fate.
"Is this an order from the higher ups? Are the things you do just an alteration of their orders to fit your twisted desires?"
"Shut up! Everything I do is of my own free will, no one controls me!"
An explosion in the distance rocked the ship, the radio came to life.
"Milord, the targets have been destroyed! I repeat, the targets have been destroyed!" Fusou celebrated on the other end with the others.
"Milord, are you there? Milo-" he cut the radio off.
"You've lost."
"What do you mean we've lost? We haven't gotten the orders to retreat yet!"
"Listen Purifier, this is an offer I'm willing to give to you and on one else. If you need it, you're welcome at Azur Lane." he cryptically said with a smile.
"Why you little- I'll tear off that smile from your face!" suddenly her headpiece lit up a bright yellow.
"All sirens," it was Observer's voice. "The Empress has requested a retreat, Azur Lane has got what they wanted."
He couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.
"Well, you heard what she said, off you go."
"Grrr, I swear you'll regret the day when we cross paths again. I'll get my revenge, just you wait." with that, she left.
Breathing a sigh of relief, he walked over to the radio, turning it on.
"-ORD! MILORD! PLEASE ANSWER US!"
"Hey, I'm fine, just had a little run in with Purifier is all."
"Purifier!? I'll send someone over there real quick!"
"It's fine Fusou, the operation is done. Tell everyone that we're retreating."
"As you wish then, Milord."
Sirens...
Every Siren left after the battle were gathered in the mess hall of the base. The Empress walked in and everyone became silent, Observer Alpha spoke up.
"My Empress, what is the meaning of this?"
"...Azur Lane's assault on the base has critically damaged many of our equipment. Our data server and portal are destroyed, meaning we can't get resources. And thus, all repairs are impossible for the foreseeable future. Some of you are having thoughts of deserting, and I won't intervene. But keep in mind, the next time patrol catches you, you're all kill on sight." the sadistic smile on her face said other wise.
Many were debating whether to leave or not, death was inevitable either way, it's just a matter of delaying it.
"Listen Purifier, this is an offer I'm willing to give to you and on one else. If you ever feel lost, you're welcome at Azur Lane." Purifier kept on replaying those words in her head.
"Maybe that's why he offered me to join... because he knew this would happen. But why only me?" she thought.
"If you want to leave, do so now before I take my words back."
Slowly, Purifier slipped out of the room before heading to the deployment section. Opening her gate, she skated away from her home, giving it one last farewell. She was quite happy to leave her old life behind to start a new chapter.
