We'll Be a Family

C25: Epilogue

Standard Disclaimer: I don't own any of the recognizable characters. A/N at the bottom.

Rosalie's POV, six years later

Sixteen years had gone by in a flash, and for Olivia and Julia the last six years had been nothing but constant love and adoration from their mates, and now a day after their sixteenth birthday, they were going to be turned into vampires by their mates, and honestly I still didn't know how to feel about it.

I had known it was an inevitability from the moment they were born, and both Jane and Heidi had been amazingly respectful to them, never overstepping their boundaries, and even when Julia and Olivia went through puberty and sometimes demanded 'lessons' as they called it, the two would not budge, which is something I found admirable.

I did have to admit that it was an adorable sight seeing the two blondes cuddled up to their mates every night, especially with Olivia, since she had grown to be at least a head taller than Jane, which had the smaller blonde pouting every time her mate mentioned it.

Heidi didn't have those problems, since she was tall to start with, but Julia stood almost on even footing with her, and was even taller when she was wearing heels, which was pretty much every time she had to put on shoes, something Alice loved and Bella hated, because Julia was at least a head taller then Bella in heels.

Everyone had been so involved in them growing up to be the young women that they were, and because of that the entire family, plus our complete extended family had become crazy protective of them, but they also knew that this day was coming for a very long time, even more so when Julia and Olivia accepted everything so readily. They were a lot like Bella in that sense.

Currently my wife was contently cuddled up in my lap while we watched a movie with the entire family present, a sort of last family gathering before they were turned, and it seemed that almost everyone was feeling a bit melancholic about tonight, for which I couldn't really blame anyone.

Julia and Olivia were also cuddled up to their respective mates and not for the first time tonight I couldn't help but smile at the sweet sight it portrayed. "Everything okay Mom?" Julia asked with a soft smile.

I smiled and nodded at her. "Yes darling, I'm okay. Just reminiscing a bit. It's still hard to believe that you're already sixteen and that your life is going to change so drastically tonight."

Julia smiled at that. "I know Mom, but I am pretty sure not a lot will change besides the fact that everyone doesn't have to be overprotective of us anymore. We will still love you and Mom beyond belief and we will always come to you if there is anything wrong."

"And may I add that just because we'll probably be very Jane and Heidi centered for a couple of months, we'll want to spend time with you and Mom as well." Olivia said with a soft smile from Jane's arms.

We smiled at them. "Sweetie, trust me that in your newborn months, nothing will surpass the arms, or bed of your mates. We knew what was going to happen when we learned that Jane and Heidi were mated to you, but that doesn't make it easier, even after so many years." Bella said with a soft smile.

"There is one thing that you did promise us before we turned which you haven't done. You both promised to tell your stories." Olivia said softly.

We shared a look with each other and then with Jane and Heidi, who only nodded at us. "That is true my sweets, come, let's go to my writing room so we can talk without interruptions, but I hope you know they're not pretty stories." Bella said softly.

They nodded at me as they gave their mates a chaste kiss on the cheek before following us to Bella's writing room, which out of every room in the house was the most soundproofed because even as a vampire Bella sometimes had the attention span of a goldfish, which most of the times was adorable, but when she had a deadline, that was a bit of a hindrance, so that's why Esme improved the soundproofing on her writing room to such a degree that even I couldn't hear anything coming from her room.

It had also been a while since I had been here and I was a bit surprised to see that she had added quite a few things to the room, including a couple of comfortable couches and even a small bathroom in the corner. "You've upgraded love."

"Of course I have. There are plenty of other uses for a fully soundproofed room in a vampire house." She said with a wink.

"Mom! Please don't. It's hard enough to hold back with our mates, we don't need mental images of you two going at it too." Olivia said with a bright blush.

"Sorry sweeties, in a couple of days you'll understand what we're talking about, but we promised you our stories. Why don't you take a seat, it'll take a while to tell everything." I said with a soft smile.

Their blushes darkened just slightly as they took a seat, as Bella and I did the same. "I'll guess I'll start. I was born in 1915 in Rochester, New York and I really thought I had it all in my youth. I had my beauty of course and I had the attention of the most eligible bachelor of the town, and if I had known what type of man he was, I would have run for the hills right then and there. His name was Royce King the Third, and he was from the richest family in town, and it was only due to our fathers that we even met. My father was an employee of the bank his father owned, and soon enough we found ourselves betrothed. At first he was sweet and caring, like I imagined the perfect man to be, but everything changed the night before our wedding. I was walking home from a visit with my best friend Vera when I noticed him drinking with his friends outside of the church we were set to be married in. I had never witnessed him being drunk and when he called me over, I reluctantly did so, even though my gut told me to stay well away. They started getting handsy with me and being alone there, they took turns raping me, and I was near death when Esme found and turned me. She let me have my revenge, and I killed them one at a time, keeping Royce for last, and to add to it, I wore my wedding dress, I did have a flair for the dramatics back then."

The girls gasped softly at that. "I'm sorry that happened to you Mom, I'm glad you got revenge on them. Is that when you started drinking human blood?" Julia asked softly.

I shook my head at them. "No sweetie, I drained them all, but I never tasted their blood. Back then we were on an animal diet that turned our eyes gold, but also lessens our control. Which is why we switched over to human blood when Sulpicia and the Volturi came to live with us."

"It is only half of the story though, and I think it's my turn, and I think when you hear this, you two will also understand a whole lot better why your Mom and I are so close, even if you account for the mating bond. You of course know a bit of my history, so I won't bore you with that again, but seventeen years ago, ironically when I was out shopping for a prom dress, I made the mistake of walking alone in a dark alley in Port Angeles, a small town close to where we lived at that time. I was so lost in thought that I hadn't even noticed a couple of frat boys had cornered me, and while the actual rape thankfully is a bit of a blur, the result is quite obvious, because nine months after I gave birth to two beautiful baby girls, although one of you was a surprise until quite late in my pregnancy." Bella said softly.

"You were right, we do understand now. I'm sorry Mom. Did you get revenge too?" Olivia asked with a soft smile.

"Not personally, but your mate did that for me the moment she learned what they had done to me."

The girls smiled at that. "That certainly sounds like Jane."

"Jane has been the perfect sister ever since the day I met her, and it meant so much to me that she was willing to go to such lengths to avenge me when she barely knew me." Bella said with a soft smile.

The girls smiled and hugged us tightly. "Thank you for telling us Mom, to be honest we always suspected something like this, but we never thought we would actually be right."

We smiled at them and gave them a hug. "It's okay sweeties, we did want to tell you, but as with most things we've told you, we had to wait until the time was right. Now, I think it's time we get you to your mates again. We'll be here when you wake up, and never forget that we love you very much." I said softly.

They smiled and pressed a kiss to our cheeks. "We love you too, and please don't be too mad at Jane and Heidi for what will happen when we wake up."

We nodded and watched them walk out of the room. "Well love, tonight ends one chapter of their lives, and in three days another begins. Our little girls will be vampires then." I said softly.

"I know, and it still breaks my heart to see them walk to that destiny, even though I know that this has been coming for years."

I smiled and kissed her softly. "Is there anything I can do for you love?" I asked softly.

"Could you get Esme, I need Mom." She said softly.

I nodded and pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Of course love. I'll be in our room if you need me."

She nodded and pulled her knees onto the couch while I went to get Esme.

Bella's POV

The moment Esme took a seat next to me, I threw my arms around her. "Oh sweetie. What's wrong?" She asked softly as she pulled me onto her lap.

"I don't know Mom, I just feel like I'm losing my little girls today. They will never again be the innocent girls we've raised for sixteen years." I said softly.

Esme smiled and pulled my head in the crook of her neck, which did calm me a little. "Sweetie, it's completely natural to feel this way. I felt the same when Rosalie turned you. You just have to hold on to the thought that their mates will be the ones to turn them and that everything will be fine. You and Rosalie both have been fantastic mothers, and I am very sure you will continue to be for a very long time."

I smiled at her. "I know, but I can't help but feel that my little girls have finally grown up. It just makes me sad."

"Oh sweetheart. It's a natural thing to feel as a mother. It's okay to feel sad about this, but you can take solace in the knowledge that you and Rosalie have raised your daughters well and that they are going into this as informed as they possibly could be." Esme said sweetly.

I smiled and pressed a kiss to her cheek. "Thank you Mom, that helps a lot. You always know exactly what I need to hear."

"That comes with the maternal bond we share Bella. I know exactly how you are feeling and know exactly the extend of your heartbreak, and while I may not have raised you, you are my daughter and a mother just knows, as you yourself well know." She said with a soft smile.

I nodded and smiled at her. "Thank you for everything Mom, and I hope you know that I am the woman I am today because of you, not because of Renee or Charlie, but you and Sulpicia. You have shown me the motherly love that I needed and what I in turn have tried to impart on my daughters."

Esme smiled brightly and kissed my cheek. "And you have my sweet. Julia and Olivia have grown up to be intelligent and insightful young women and I can see so much of both you and Rosalie in both of them, and if I may speak for my wife as well, we couldn't have wished for better granddaughters."

I smiled at her. "We've tried, and while it hasn't always been easy, since they're so independent and stubborn, undoubtedly something they've inherited from Rosalie." I said with a soft smile.

Esme laughed lightly at that. "Of course, because you have never been stubborn before."

I smiled and hugged her. "I knew you would see it my way. Shall we join our mates and the rest of the family in the living room again. I'd rather wait with the rest of the family instead of falling victim to my thoughts again."

Esme nodded as I stood and we linked our arms and walked back into the living room, where I took a seat next to Rosalie again and she did the same to Sulpicia.

"Feeling better baby?" Rosalie asked softly.

I nodded and rested my head on her shoulder. "Yes love, I feel a lot better. Talking to Mom always makes me feel better."

Rosalie smiled and kissed my cheek softly. "I'm glad you feel better love, and I think you will also be happy to hear that we haven't heard anything yet from Jane and Heidi's bedroom."

"I'm glad for that, let's hope that it stays that way, because I honestly don't know what will happen if I hear my babies scream." I said softly as I curled into Rosalie.

"It'll be okay love, I know we'll be fine because even our inner beasts know that it is inevitable and that it is their mates who are changing them." Rosalie said with a soft smile.

I nodded and smiled at her. "So, what's the plan for the next three days? Are we just going to sit here and wait?"

"We could always go hunting love. It's been a while." Rosalie said softly.

I smiled and nodded at her. "Let's do that baby. I could use a good hunt to take my mind off the girls."

Rosalie smiled and pulled me up. "Sacramento or Los Angeles?"

"Let's do LA, there's bound to be some tasty targets there." I said with a smile as we ran off.

"Are you really feeling better, my love?" She asked as we sped through the forests as much as we could.

I nodded at her. "I really am love. Esme made sure of that. I just needed to be mothered out of my depression."

Rosalie smiled at me. "She is quite good at that, even without accounting for the maternal bond she has with you."

I smiled and kissed her softly. "She is, always has been. Ever since I first time I met her she has been a mother to me, and I think that it has been evident over the years too, and I think no matter what happens between now and the time the sun falls out of the sky, We'll be a Family forever."

A/N: So, this is it. The last Chapter, not only for this story, but any story for a while. As I've said before, I need a bit of a break from writing and regain some inspiration, but I will be back with new stories somewhere this year. For now, I want to thank everyone who has ever taken the time to read my stories and leave their thoughts in reviews. I hope you have enjoyed them, and all that is left for me to say is that it isn't a goodbye forever, but rather a goodbye for now.
