About several days later, on a Saturday morning, Rollan was in the bedroom reading a history book and had on the night table an empty cup of coffee which he had been drinking from.
"Epà, this woman resembles Orm a lot," Commented Rollan surprised, then switched to the next page.
Later on, Gerda showed up entering the bedroom carrying a bucket in her hand and a towel around her shoulder then placed it on top of the commode in front of the bed.
"I'm going to clean your wound now if you're okay with it," Commented Gerda opening the first drawer to take out a bandage along with a scissor to place it next to the bowl.
"Okay, I was supposed to go out into the garden," Mentioned the Spaniard making Gerda nod, which sat down on the bed beside the husband and watched him take down the shirt to put it aside.
"I think you should take a new one," Mentioned Gerda picking up the shirt, afterward she left it on the legs of Rollan. "Alright, it's not necessarily. I thought it had leaked blood from the wound,"
"It's okay. The wound is not so painful,"
"That's great," Commented Gerda beginning to wrap out Rollan's bandage he had around a part of his body, then she dropped it on the ground and took a small towel from the bowl to slowly dab on the sides of his injury.
"How are you?" Questioned Rollan making Gerda nod.
"I'm fine. I could sleep better than the last two days. I didn't bother you there or did I?"
"I was a little worried about you, mi amor," Confessed Rollan making Gerda smile a little and peck him on the nose. Afterward, the blonde remembered that she had planned to speak to her husband about what happened to him a couple of days ago. "Talking about uncomfortable with what happened to you the other day," Mentioned Gerda slowly going over Rollan's slightly making Rollan hiss from the minor pain he felt.
"Don't worry cariño....uh look, I had some bad feeling after what happened to you and I feared that I would have lost you,"
"I won't let this happen mi amor. We're always working together. This was a small distraction nothing much,"
"This little distraction has almost costed your life, Rollan. You won't always have the same amount of luck as you did lately did,"
"But you know I would have to give up my job to be safe. At least from unnatural danger,"
"I really know you love your job, but I would love you to remind you that you're a family man as well as a guard," Explained Gerda getting up to wash the cloth again before returning back to the raven-haired man.
"You remember Helena yesterday how clingy she was with you from knowing you were hurt at the work. We both have her and Roscoe. They're 6 years old only. They're young and I don't want them to grow without you around them," Told the wife sitting down on Rollan's lap to pass the towel over the wound again.
"I'm not sure if I can do this right now" Mentioned Rollan uncertain about his wife's suggestion.
"It doesn't have to be right now or even when you're at work. I just want you to know that anything can happen,"
"I will think about your words," Stated Rollan watching Gerda put away the cloth and searched in the drawer for a salve. "Are we going out with the kids today?"
"I thought about anything where you could be around as well," Mentioned Gerda putting salve on her hand to pass it over Rollan's wound making him hiss again. "Forgive me, amor" Apologized Gerda placing her second hand on Rollan's cheek making him nod.
"It's alright, where did you plan to take our kids on?" Questioned the husband.
"You know I think the river beach would be a good idea if you're okay with it. I'll be with them on the water and you sit out on the sand. When the kids are in a mood you three or us four could make sandcastles. We've obtained from Alfida a bucket set with various sizes"
"I find it good. Eventually, we could compete with each other on who makes the best sandcastle or anything like that" Suggested Rollan then groaned again as Gerda ruffled him on the skin.
"I'm terribly sorry. I'm already done with this," Commented Gerda making Rollan nod, then she grabbed the new band which she began to wrap up slowly around Rollan.
"I can take this further if you want," Offered the Spaniard, then felt his wife press her lips on his cheek as she continued to wrap him.
"It's alright, I can handle this," Assured Gerda making Rollan smile gentle.
At the entrance of the bedroom, the common kids of together. The young girl Helena, carried in one of her hands a fresh apple and on the other hand a small letter while the older twin Roscoe had with him a box only.
"Morning Papa!" Greeted the young girl climbing up at the bed to watch Rollan put on his shirt.
"Buenos dias, mi niña linda," Greeted Rollan opening his arms at the girl, which happily got onto the arms of the tall man. "How are you?" Questioned the father caressing his daughter gently on the middle-sized hair.
"Good. Is your injury better?" Questioned the daughter watching the father nod.
"Your mama made sure nothing would be missed for me," Stated Rollan looking along with the daughter at Gerda, which had sat down in front of the bed then picked Roscoe up on her lap.
"Your Papi has luck to have such a caring family," Commented Gerda looking at the husband which opened his arms at the group and Roscoe moved up into Rollans's arms on his knees.
"Pequeñuelo, Qué tienes ahí?"
"One mystery gift," Commented Roscoe. "It has some things for you I've collected"
"Really, shall I open now?" Asked Rollan watching Roscoe open it up for him and the box contained a shower sponge, a pocket mirror, a vanilla-scented soap, a hinged stick, and a small bottle of aftershave. "Oh that's cool, where did you get that from?"
"Grandpa" Answered Roscoe making Rollan smile and peck his son on the forehead.
"Muchas gracias, niño," Thanked Rollan pecking his son on the cheek afterward Helena handed Rollan out an apple along with the letter.
"I made this drawing for you and asked uncle Kai to help me a little bit with writing," Stated Helena watching Rollan pull the girl up to sit next to him on the bed.
"What did you do?" Asked Rollan opening the sheet up from the girl. "Dear Papi. I wish your injury will pass by very fast and that you're able to do everything you couldn't do. Make sure you don't strain yourself the next few days until you're fully recovered. Kisses from Helena,"
"Did you like it?" Asked Helena watching Rollan pull the girl closer to him to peck her on the side of her hair.
"Mucho" Responded Rollan. "Want to know which was my favorite so far?" Asked the Spaniard taking out from the drawer beside the bed a couple of drawings and letters made by the kids, then picked one out, where the entire family was drawn on it in a childlike style.
"That also was mama's favorite idea," Commented Helena and pointed at a hard-recognizable horse. "Drawing Valiente was difficult but mom told it was fine,"
"For the first try, it's not that bad. The more you practice the better you get, right hija?" Asked the father making the daughter nod, then he packed her shrieking her to lie her down on his lap to tickle her beneath the arms making her laugh.
"Stop it!" Begged Helena from her father's tickle attack, then Roscoe looked at his mother which had an idea, and reached her hands on Rollan's neck to tickle him. The man stopped falling off the bed with Helena on top of him, then Gerda kneed down on his arm continuing to tickle him, afterward Roscoe began to tickle Rollan under his left arm making him laugh louder.
"Hey! That's not fair!" Laughed Rollan, followed by Helena which had the joy of seeing her father under tickle attack.
"Alright, we better give your dad a break. We can tickle him more when his wound is nearly gone so we won't strain it," Announced Gerda helping Rollan sat up before pecking him on his cheek, making him smile.
"Will you come to eat with us, Papi?" Asked Roscoe making Rollan nod as he got up along with his life partner.
"I'm on my way, pequeñuelo," Rollan confirmed and walked along with the family out of the bedroom to go join for breakfast.
