The talk

One week passed by and the summer days felt warmer than ever. I was at the Ministry, just a few minutes away from lunch break, when I heard a murmur spread through the Department. I looked up to find, with a jolt of jealousy, that the commotion had been about the witch coming towards my desk. She was wearing a light summer dress – and looking stunning on it – along with the most beautiful smile in the whole world. It was painful to watch necks turning to get a better glimpse of her.

'Hey' she sat on my desk, only centimeters away, grinning at me. My heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest.

'Jaz. What are you doing here?'

'I came to have lunch with Eileen and our aunt. I'm heading to their Department now. Do you want to join us?'

'Thank you, but I need to finish this report.'

'Alright. But we can go for ice cream after that, if you're not too busy'.

We often popped into Diagon Alley for ice cream during breaks. I was pretty busy actually, as we were planning an important mission that would take place in two weeks, but in that moment that suddenly felt unimportant.

'Yeah, sure' and I tried to stop myself, but I couldn't 'so… are you meeting Dante there?'

'What?' she turned to look at me 'oh, right, he's working there too now. Well, then I reckon I probably will' she shrugged. I swallowed. 'I'll be back here in an hour, then. Finish that report, will you, I want my raspberry cone' she beamed at me and I felt a wave of warmth spread through my body.

Oh, damn.

...

One hour later, she came back and, once more, sat on my desk. 'Ready?'

'Sure' I stood up 'how is your aunt?'

'She's great. Bossing everyone around and cursing under her breath in French. The usual. Just what makes her happy.' We both laughed.

'So… how is Dante going?' I tried to keep my voice casual.

'Oh, he wasn't there, he had some negotiation to attend.'

I did my best to muffle the smile trying to appear on my lips, but she scowled at me. 'Why are you smiling?'

'Oh, you know, I reckon it's better like that. He could've started trying it on you again…'

'He has a boyfriend!' she gasped.

'So? It doesn't mean his not into women anymore…'

'Since when do you care if people try it on me?'

Well, there was the opportunity I was waiting for.

Slowly, I placed my hands on the desk, one on each side of her thighs, so that our faces were level and one palm apart. I looked deep into those wide brown eyes.

'Since I can't stop thinking about you, Jaz.'

At first, she just blinked at me, bemused, her mouth slightly opened. As the words sank in, however, she clenched her jaw and flared her nostrils.

'You-stupid-arse!' she hammered her fists on my chest 'one week ago you didn't even consider this! You just want it because you can't have it! Why would you make things more difficult, Ted? You know that was a real prophecy. You know we can't.'

'I tried, Jaz, I swear I tried not to think about you like that… But these past few days, I…' she frowned at me, but I carried on 'I keep thinking about how I love the way you laugh… the way you do everything, really… about your lips…'

Her breath turned heavier. I moved my hands from the desk and placed them on her bare knees.

'No' she took my hands off her, shaking her head 'no. We're not doing this. Stop. I'm not kissing you.' She stood up and gave three large steps. I felt my heart sinking. 'This feeling of yours will go away eventually. And then everything will go back to normal. Now come on, I have only half an hour before my shift.'

...

Ten minutes later we were leaning against the wall outside Florean Fortescue's, licking our cones.

'…so it's really a lot of unusual accidents that have been happening, we're still no sure if they are connected or not…' Jaz was explaining while eating her ice cream, even thought I had been barely paying attention to what she was saying.

'Would you stop doing that?' I asked, annoyed.

'What?' she widened her eyes at me.

'That. With your mouth.'

She snorted. 'We're eating ice cream! How else am I supposed to do this?'

'The same way everybody does it. You're licking that thing as if it was a…' I fell silent and she flared her nostrils at me.

'Shut up, Ted. You're the one looking at me and imagining that.'

I flushed as I realized she was probably right. But I still felt so angry. Frustrated.

'You think it's easy for me?' she continued 'when I… when I see you clenching your jaw like that, or running your fingers through your hair - yes, exactly like that... and these shirts of yours, for heaven's sake, don't you have larger ones? You're bursting out of them since your Auror prep. If I didn't know you, I'd say you're morphin' that.'

I gaped at her.

'Well…' I looked down at my shirt 'witches seem to appreciate them like this very much.'

She rolled her eyes. 'Yeah, I know. I'm am witches.'

She then stared at me with a playful twinkle in her eyes. She brushed her upper lip on the cone in her hand just enough to leave some good amount of cream on it, and turned her eyes fixedly at me.

I understood what she was going to do one second before it happened, and uttered 'don't you dare, Jasmine'.

But she did it. Without breaking our eye contact, she slowly licked the ice cream out of her lip. I felt the bulge in my trousers twitch.

'Oh, fuck you, Jaz' I glared at her.

She smiled, licked her cone once more and replied 'I'd much rather if you did that, Te-'

Before she could finish it, however, I had pinned her against the wall.

'Are you crazy?' she gasped 'ok, ok, I'm done with the teasing. Seriously, Ted, back off.'

But I didn't. I looked down at her. 'Damn, have you always been this hot?'

She gazed at me with astonishment. 'Have you seen the guys I date?'

Ugh. Yeah. One more perfect than the other. All brilliant, successful, true gentlemen. Magazine cover material. Some of them made Dante look like a loser.

'Yeah' I replied 'I hated every single one of them'.

She snorted and shook her head. Then that mischievous sparkle twinkled in her eyes again, she stood on her tiptoe and murmured in my ear 'too bad none of them were ever who I really wanted...'

I pressed her harder against the wall, gluing my body to hers.

'Ted! Ok, I'll stop. I'll stop! No more teasing, I promise. I need to go back to work, and people are staring, Ted!'

I stepped back, my insides flaring.

'Are you going to Jake's tomorrow?' she carried on. I nodded. 'Alright, so let's get one thing straight. No looking at me with those hungry eyes in front of them, Ted, as if I was something to eat!'

As soon as I curled my lip, I could tell she regretted her choice of words. I pushed her once more to the wall and leaned into her ear.

'That might be a problem…' I started in a low, deep voice, a tone that I knew she wasn't acquainted with despite our twenty-eight years of friendship, for I had never used it with her. She melted instantly, closing her eyes and panting, and I kept on 'because, you see, I do want to eat you, Jaz…' she cursed indistinctly under her breath and bit her lip hard 'I want to taste you…' she let out a moan and, a second later, opened her eyes and glared at me.

'Oh, fuck you, Ted' she pushed me away and, in a crack, she was gone.

...

I arrived at Jake's on the next evening to find he and the twins had already swigged a full bottle of wine. With much effort, I avoided looking at Jaz as much as I could. After dinner, I gathered all my determination to ask Eileen and Jake the question that had been burning inside my head.

'Listen, do any of you remember what Professor Trelawney's prophecy said? I mean, the exact words?'

For several seconds, they just stared at me, a mixture of surprise and anxiety on their faces. Jaz didn't even look up; she kept sipping from her glass, gazing at the floor. Jake was the one to break the silence.

'I… I know I've written it, somewhere… in a notebook, from back then...'

'Do you have it here?' I widened my eyes at him 'can you find it?'

'Why?' he raised an eyebrow.

'Please' I insisted.

He left to his bedroom and, after a few minutes of uncomfortable silence, came back to the living room, and old notebook clutched in his hand. He flicked through its pages until he stopped at one and started reading it out loud.

'and they will surrender to it, just as everything around them falls apart' he concluded, then raising his eyes at me inquisitively. I was trying my best not to look at Jaz.

'So it wouldn't happen because the couple gets together' I stated 'the prophecy says that everything would fall apart anyway; it just predicts both things will happen at the same time.'

Eileen and Jake gazed at me, trying to understand what I meant with all that babble, but, before they could question anything, Jaz stood up briskly, rage in her eyes.

'You can't be serious, Ted!' she burst out.

'I am!' I stood up too, glaring back at her 'whatever happens, it's not our fault!'

'How could we possible do that? Knowing the second we do, something terrible will happen?' Jaz retorted.

'What's going on here?' Eileen cut in, looking fiercely from Jaz to me.

I turned my eyes to her, agony drenching my chest.

'You see…' I spoke, my voice shaking 'since Jake's birthday… when you two told me that Jaz had feelings for me… I… I swear I tried no to… but…'

'You fell for her too' Eileen uttered, her eyes burning holes in mine.

'Oh, no' Jake gaped 'this is exactly what it predicted that would happen!'

Everyone kept silent for a few seconds.

'Listen' Eileen started 'we can't just tell you two to ignore your feelings, but' and she fixed her eyes on mine 'Teddy, do you really meant it? Or is it just because this is new and exciting?'

'Eileen, don't talk to him like that…' Jaz warned. She never liked people to be harsh on me. Eileen, however, carried on, her eyes still on mine.

'No, he has to listen to this! This is not just about the prophecy, it's also about you hurting Jasmine's feelings, Teddy. She kept her love for you for over fourteen years just so she wouldn't risk your friendship; and now you can't keep it inside your trousers for one week, even if something terrible could happen if you get together!'

'Eileen!' Jaz shouted, scowling at her, but Eileen ploughed on.

'Seriously, Teddy. Take some time to think about this. And you' she glared at her sister 'you stop teasing the man. I know you, sis.'

I was looking down while listening to her, shame burning on my cheeks.

'She's right, Jaz' I mumbled 'I'm sorry. I'm acting like a teen in love, but I'm an adult and I should act responsible.'

Eileen drew a deep breath, walked to me and hugged me. 'I know you haven't chosen this, Teddy… and, as I said, I'm not saying you two shouldn't do this. But just try to figure this out first, so you don't risk everything falling apart out of… out of horniness, for heaven's sake.'

I nodded, hugging her back. Jaz and Jake kept silent.

Two weeks later, I was knocking on Jaz's door. I would be leaving for my mission in one hour, and, as I always did, I dropped by her house before so we could have the conversation she had over the years named the talk.

'Hi' she smiled at me 'do you want to come in?' I agreed and walked with her up to the living room, stopping in front of the empty fireplace. I turned to face her.

'Jaz, do you remember what you promised me when I became an Auror?'

'The talk, ahn? Are you going on a mission?' she asked. I nodded. When I started working as an Auror, I had made her promise me that, if something happened to me, she would take care of my parents, preparing my father his potions every month and keeping them both safe. 'Of course I remember, Ted. I told you, I'd make an Unbreakable Vow if you wanted to'.

'There's no need for that' I shook my head. I walked to her, cupped her face in my hands and pressed my forehead against hers, my eyes closed. 'Thank you. You have no idea how important it is for me to go knowing someone will take care of them' I sighed 'Jaz, everything that happened lately made me realize how much you mean to me. You know that, don't you? It doesn't matter how you stay in my life, as long as you do.'

I opened my eyes and stepped back to find her mopping tears from her eyes. 'I hate these talks' she murmured 'you always speak as if you were not coming back.'

That possibility was more real than it ever had been. But I knew I could not tell her that. So I just stared at her for a while, aching inside.

'What's wrong?' she frowned at me 'I know when you're hiding me something, Ted. What is it?'

I opened my mouth to say that it was nothing, but she deepened her scowl and I gave up. 'I have been struggling' I swallowed 'with… my metamorphing'.

She gaped at me. After several seconds, she burst out. 'You are going on a dangerous mission without your powers? Are you crazy? Are you suicidal or something? You have no training on Concealment and Disguise, Ted! You only got top marks on it based on your special abilities!'

I shook my head, facing the floor. 'They need me, Jaz, and I will go. It will be alright, don't worry. I'll come back in a week, on time to brew next full moon's potion.'

I raised my head to find her paralyzed at the same spot, her eyes fixed on mine. I knew she was starting to put the pieces together. It was time to go.

I uttered one last 'see you soon', turned around and started walking towards the front door, but after a couple of steps, she spoke.

'Is it like it happened to your mother?' she asked.

I stopped. 'I'm sorry?' I replied, without turning to look her in the eyes.

'I'm asking, you, Ted' her voice was firm, almost angry 'if what is happening to you is the same thing that happened to your mother when she fell for your dad and lost her abilities because she was heartbroken.'

'Oh… so you remember that story' I tried to sound casual, still not daring to turn around and face her.

'Don't you fucking lie to me, Ted!' her voice was now trembling with rage.

Finally, I slowly turned and sustained her glare.

'I didn't tell you because I knew you would feel guilty about this.'

For a moment, we just stared at each other, her anger subsiding.

Then a sparkle of determination twinkled in her eyes, and she started walking to me at a slow pace.

'This is not your fault' I stated with conviction.

But she didn't stop coming towards me.

I stepped back, trying to keep the distance between us.

'Jaz, this is why I didn't tell you, I knew you would not react well to this'. As I walked backwards, my feet reached the sofa. She stopped in front of me, placing her hands on my chest, and started pushing me steadily to sit on it. 'I know you don't handle well to see me suffering' I continued, slumping on the seat.

She moved her hands from my chest to my shoulder and used them as a support to straddle me. She placed one knee on each side of my hips and grabbed my shirt collar.

'No' I shook my head and tried to push her aside gently 'no, Jasmine, I want this more than anything, but I am not doing this out of pity!'

She didn't even raised her eyes to meet mine, her stare fixed on my lips. 'Yeah, yeah, very noble. Now shut up, Ted'.

And she pressed her lips against mine.

For a split second, I resisted it.

But then it hit me.

The softness of her lips, the warmth of her skin, the scent coming from her neck. A wave of heat took over my entire body, and I surrendered to it.

I wrapped her waist with one arm, running my fingers through her hair with my other hand. She groaned in response, and I used the opportunity to deepen the kiss. The touch of her tongue was enough to make me moan between her lips. She unbuttoned my shirt, parting our kiss to look down at me. She bit her lip. 'Damn, you're so fucking hot' she murmured and kissed me once more, hungrily. I lowered my hands to her hips and she started grinding against my erection, each movement making both of us moan against each other mouths.

She moved from my lips to kiss my neck, from there to my chest and down through my stomach. 'Jaz' I panted, but she was already down on her knees in front of me, unbuckling me 'Jaz, no, I'm already so hard, I won't last long like that…' A smile threatened to appear on her lips as she ignored my plead and carried on unzipping my trousers.

'Oh, shut up, Ted, I've been craving to do this for too damn long' she answered as she lowered my underwear, finding me rock hard and whispering to herself 'fuck'. She raised her eyes back to mine and, slowly, licked all my length and flicked her tongue around my tip before taking me inside her mouth. I let out a deep, loud groan. She started bobbing her head, each time taking me deeper between her lips.

'Oh, damn, that feels so good… but you will have to stop it, Jaz, stop it...' I managed to ask her before getting too close.

She, however, took me out of her mouth just long enough to plead me 'cum for me, Ted, please…'

Oh, fuck.

I gave up holding myself and started moving my hips along with her, earning muffled sounds of excitement from her lips.

With a wave of pleasure spreading through my body, I came inside her mouth, moaning loudly.

'Fuck, Jaz, that was so good' I threw my head back and rested it on the couch, my eyes still closed, while she let out a quiet laugh of satisfaction.

Before I could open my eyes and look at her, however, we heard a rattling on the window. We exchanged startled glances and I dressed back my trousers quickly as Jaz walked to draw back the curtains.

There, was an owl with a letter.

I'm not sure if there's anyone reading up until here, but if you are, please let me know what you think ❤️
The final chapter of Teddy and Jasmine comes out soon and then I have a (very smuttish) oneshot planned!
