Sorry that this is late, it didn't want to be written and I had to rewrite the same eighty words twice. I didn't want Athenadora and didame to be snobbish, but I also didn't want to force Rebecca into a castle turret until she exploded… or do I?
Edit: Sorry forgot to do a disclaimer the idea for the part of the guard that isin't burned but has to serve is from even in death
Aro's Point of View
"no, I think Aro's better at judging character, well, for everyone except Bella and me." I watched Rebecca get more comfortable with my family, I couldn't be happy enough that they were getting along. I had to say, it was one of my fears the past few weeks; thankfully, I didn't have to worry about this outcome. Diana decided to get in on the fun "yah cause' Marcus can't see the bonds between people and notice what people feel for each other."
I had the feeling that the girls would want to get to know each other better, alone if possible. "Why don't you go with Rebecca and Athenadora to the tower Diana? how about it?" She seemed to understand where this was going. "Of course, don't get Caius to agitated; he's already in a bad mood about the meet and greet."
The meet and greet? I completely forgot! every twenty years we have to go to some wizard ministries, the hosted event this time was in Britain, us kings and our mates were required to attend to be courteous. I couldn't believe I forgot about it; I would need to tell her about it, it was in two weeks' time, she would need to prepare herself.
They left talking, getting to know each other. "It's nice to see that she clicked with us" it was Marcus speaking. "Brother, I saw you're face when you heard Diana talk about the meet and greet, you forgot about it didn't you?" with the way Caius understands everyone and everything, you'd think he had a gift. "Yes"
"She a British witch, so what about this makes you uncomfortable?" he sat back down in his chair. "As far as I understand, she left her friends and Britain in an attempt to get over the war." He nodded "she seemed to have gotten over it so far."
"Perhaps, but there's still the fact it could stir up bad memories for her." Marcus cut in "I know you don't want to make her uncomfortable, but you and her have to go." as much as I like Marcus, he won't sugar coat anything, which is a good thing a lot of times but still.
Rebecca's Point of View
Meet and greet? Another thing to ask Didiame or Athenadora, "did Aro call you Diana?" she smiled and nodded. "Yes, he came up with it a few millennia ago; we're not supposed to use the nickname in the presence of the lower guard, you can call me Diana if you like."
"Lower guard?" I asked confused, "as a witch you obviously know more than the average human, but there are some things you don't know; like there are three levels of guard, the lower, middle, and elite guard. The lower guard is made up of those that were saved from being burned but have to serve the Volturi as punishment for a set number of years. The elite guard are those that have extensive powers and protect us when there not in missions, or, in Corrin's case stays in the tower with us to keep us company. The middle guard are those who have power, and are in service voluntarily, but there powers aren't as good as those in the elite guard." She added, "you won't meet many of the lower guard since you'll be in the tower with us, and rarely, when were outside of it; usually, we only come in contact with the elite, and middle guard."
Hmm, what to ask next? "What did you mean by this is the happiest you've seen Aro in a while?" her face took on a small, sad look. "When he was with Sulpicia, he was content with his life and he drove himself down trying to collect those with powers. I could still see the frustration in him with his lifestyle, this is one of the first times after his change I have seen him truly happy." Athenadora cut in, "I can second that, he usually so grumpy though he would participate in activities; he still was missing what Dora and I have with our mates."
Diana looked exited now "but now he has you! and he already seems a lot better." I was thinking there was something I needed to pick out, "wait you don't leave the tower much? How can you stand being in a tower for eternity?" She huffed, "don't get our ways mixed up for something terrible, we just stay there because our mates want us to be protected; there's no actual rule that we can't leave it, we just stay there for the most part, our mates come up there when they have spare time."
So, it's more of personal choice, "sorry I jumped to conclusions." Athenadora spoke "it's okay, as a witch you were probably taught much worse things, you're fairly open minded." We stopped at a doorway. "We're at the staircase, do you need help getting up there? it's a long way to climb." I shook my head "no, I don't, I got comfortable with a lot of stairs in the wizarding world after my first year." Dora nodded "okay, but if you need help just ask."
Even if I did need help, there was no way I was going to let myself be beaten by a stairway. The climb was long; I would have started panting three fourths the way up if my pride hadn't intervened. Finally, the stairs stopped; I saw a very ornate door. "Thanks for waiting for me, I know I'm slow compared to you." Both of the girls smiled, and Diana giggled, "don't worry when you're a vampire you won't be so slow." I decided to contradict her "um, me and Aro were planning on keeping me human." Shock was a good word to describe the two vampires in front of me. "But, if you stay human, you'll die-" I cut her off "apparently, thanks to a cloak, a rock, and a piece of wood, I might not have to become a vampire but also not die either."
