Joseph straightened his tie.

'You look nice!'

He smiled as he felt Jac wrap her arms around him and kiss his cheek. 'Thanks, just another day!' He felt the tears begin to well up.

'Hey come on! Snap out of it!'

'Yeah...you're right!' Joseph turned to look at her. 'Now, that's not fair!'

She frowned. 'What isn't?'

'Why do you still look twenty-five?'

She laughed. 'Blame yourself darling! I'm in your mind, so I look how you WANT me to look.'

'Please don't say that!'

'Well it's true! You're conscious wants to remember happier times so we go back twenty odd years hence I look twenty five!'

Joseph felt tears on his cheek. 'God I miss you so much!'

She smiled sadly. 'I miss you too!' She wrapped her arms around him. 'Last night was wonderful! Like old times!'

'Yeah! If only I'd known! I wouldn't have wasted my life on...' he stopped short.

'Well none of us can see into the future...'

'No...I better get going... I'm going to be late...'

...

Joseph sat at a table outside a Café, staring into space.

'How was your morning?'

He blinked and smiled as Jac came and sat opposite him. 'Oh you know...busy!' He frowned. 'Hang on...don't you know? You were there!'

She laughed. 'Actually, technically I wasn't...'

'What?'

Jac laughed again. 'Haven't quite got the hang of this have you? I'm in your mind so I only appear when you're thinking of me. When you're not I disappear.'

Joseph felt himself begin to well up again. 'Oh Jac! I'm so sorry...I didn't mean...'

'Oh don't be so silly! You DO have a life!'

'I should have come back for you ages ago...not waste my life on...'

'Well none of us can see the future!'

He reached for her hand. 'It'll alway be you Jac...always be you.'

She smiled and squeezed his hand back. 'Ditto!'

Suddenly an attractive woman came towards him smiling. Quickly, Joseph grabbed his phone. 'Hello, Joseph Byrne? Oh hi! How are you?.. Well I received her notes yesterday... yes, yes...' He glanced up and saw that she had gone. When he put his phone away, he found that Jac was shaking with laughter.

'Wh-what the hell was that??!!'

'It worked didn't it?'

'God that's pathetic!'

He grinned. 'I refer you to my previous answer!'

'Yes! Good improvisation, I must admit!'

'Well I've improved over the years...' He finished his coffee. 'I'd best get back.' He stood up and gazed at her. 'I wish I could kiss you...'

She looked up at him. 'Well go on then!'

Joseph leaned down and tenderly caught her lips with his, she kissed him back deeply. 'See you later.' He then blinked, shook his head and headed for the door, turning round only once to glance at the empty table.

There you go guys! I know it's sad but it's best to be prepared! ;-(
